  1. I couldn't bring myself to play it beyond the first couple towns because you don't really get to evolve your starter and there aren't any Gyms... plus, it's impractical to reset for good Natures and IVs. But I have seen shofu play through it, and it is a good game. Here's a remix of J-E-N-O-V-A, in case you haven't heard it. https://youtube.com/watch?v=gA0i7Er5KqA
  2. Understood. Sorry for rambling. Whatever the case, I appreciate everyone's ideas and effort. On a more relevant note, we need another axolotl that stays an axolotl upon evolving.
  3. By the way (to clear things up), you argued: I posted to point out that there is a kanji for sea called kai, to which you responded ガ was from an unrelated post in which I mentioned that using that instead of カ made the use use of orcas as the basis for Kyogre questionable, since the Japanese transliteration of orca is オーカ.
  4. It'd be awesome if the devs could implement them into online battles (if they actually get a server for that off the ground). *burns calf* Blah blah praise Ame.
  5. I'm starting to think that some of us have different definitions of it. I define hatred as the desire that someone suffer; no one should have to suffer, whether they deserve it or not (although I myself should be willing to suffer). That's why I consider it inherently wrong. An eye for an eye doesn't solve anything. It's separate from wrath, which, in the end, boils down to disapproval. I, for one, used to hate everyone who intentionally made my life difficult/painful, then humanity in general, but then I realized that I was at fault for some of the things I hated them for (at around the time middle school began). Even though most of the things that I was aware I did wrong amounted to meek attempts to satisfy my pride (which I didn't condemn as an emotion 'til a few years later), I never hesitated to act upon hatred (or other emotions, for that matter); the only reason I ever stopped acting on it was because I deemed it either inherently wrong (at which point I refused to hate anyone, because if the desire for others to suffer isn't the epitome of evil, I don't know what is) or a waste of effort.
  6. Wouldn't it make getting away with starting a mass shooting that much more difficult? I don't expect anything to change for the better–ever–but he was at least trying to imagine a solution.
  7. It'd at least discourage mass shootings.
  8. I beg to differ. I personally follow the idea that self-interest is the root of hatred (and evil in general). Fear–specifically cowardice–is merely a symptom of that.
  9. Gun use ought to be either commonplace or prohibited (except, of course, among police departments). If someone with a gun was nearby and willing and able to intervene against a criminal like that, they'd stop them before their slaughter gets (more) out of hand. The only real question that should be examined is whether or not we who live in the US trust our neighbors enough to do that (to have the selflessness and grit to stop a shooting spree). Wish I could upvote this (the problem this presents, of course, is the fact that some people'll argue that it's an invasion of privacy).
  10. You clearly have no idea of what you're talking about. Hiragana would've been かい.
  11. Lucario's in UU now, but I'm just as pleased as I would've been if you'd chosen Charizard or Bisharp.
  12. Eagre, as in a tidal bore. 海 <- kanji "kai" used for "sea." You meant to use "e.g." (that is, "for the sake of example") instead of aka. Omastar and Omanyte are ammonites.
  13. Goddamnit, Barb.Anyways, regular knifefish ought to have a different representative (preferably one that isn't Electric-type). And electric catfish aren't the same species as electric eels (in fact, IIRC, they're a whole genus). I forgot to mention swordfish, clownfish, narwhals, and sailfish (or marlins in general). Oh, and hammerhead sharks. And non-torpedo-hybrid sharks. And the ガ in Kyogre's Japanese name makes it more difficult to identify as an orca (and that possible association between them is lost in translation).
  14. D'OHAnyways, any 'mons whose bases off of those animals are questionable aren't enough to dissuade me from suggesting them.

  16. "It's not like I want you to judge me or anything!"
  17. Shame it didn't get Sheer Force last Gen.
  18. It gives them closer viability in terms of each other (meaning Kyogre doesn't have the ludicrous advantage it once had), although I didn't realize 'til half an hour ago that you might've meant how useful they were in Ubers overall. You're right in that sense. They're everywhere, ruining the meta's diversity.
  19. Why? For giving Kyogre and Groudon something that more closely resembles balanced viability? For pandering to a global audience by giving their favorite Pokémon unparalleled usefulness?
  20. Zapdos - Unlike the others, it's actually useful. Suicune - It's unique for 580-base-stat 'mons, and it's always been competitively useful... and it's more pleasant to look at. Lugia - It's competitively better than its 4x-Rock-weakness counterpart (and more aesthetically appealing... and nostalgic). Groudon - It stopped sucking this Gen, thanks to its Primal form's new Ability (and the fact that it turns Ground/Fire... plus, I kind of prefer its body type). I would've chosen Rayquaza if it wasn't for their Primals+Mega. I did prefer Kyogre in Gen III, though. Regirock - NiPPs works wonders with it. Latios - I honestly don't prefer either; it mostly came down to their shinies. And it kicked ass the few times I used it on weather teams on Showdown. Wish I'd actually caught+used it in Gens III-V, though. Giratina - It was fun to use in Gen IV and V Ubers. Azelf - It wiped the floor with the Gen IV Frontier Brains. Darkrai - OF COURSE I'd choose the Uber event Pokémon with the OP move+Ability combo. Slap on Leftovers, Dark Void, Substitute, Nasty Plot, and Dark Pulse, and you're set for whatever doesn't outspeed it (assuming your opponent didn't waste their turns letting you set up already). Kyurem - I usually prefer the 3rd trio member in general (and, in this case, without any regard for Black and White Kyurem, the fact that it was the only Tao trio member that wasn't shiny-locked in Gen V alone would've sold me). Landorus - Just for being the trio master. Keldeo - For Secret Sword and its silly event gimmick. Yveltal - I prefer Xerneas competitively, but I don't prefer its appearance, and it gets boring when you see it all over the place. Mew - 'Cause nostalgia. Heatran - I've never actually used Volcanion... or seen it do anything impressive. Mewtwo - It's always been one of my favorites, and the Megas they gave it renewed my love for it (Deoxys was close for getting awesome event moves, having had the highest attack stats, and having been equally amusing in Ubers in Gens IV and V).
  21. I kept going over all the 'mons I enjoy - and knew it was kind of unoriginal - but, no matter how many times I tried to avoid it, I always found myself identifying with Charizard. I'm particularly fond of its shinies. There were a few close seconds, though. Runner-Ups:
