  1. The only forest. Where walking past the SAME tree multiple times. Is progress.
  2. Now now now, I don't think Sec was openly accusing Sparky of being a thief, and I don't think Sparky actually "took credit" for the idea. I'm not certain he knew Sec had done it first, but if he did standard operating procedure would be to cite who's brilliance you glean from. Of course, we all make mistakes. I'm glad all of us are playing nicely for now. Makes Momma proud.

    Hey tbh

Well done, Azery, and Hi, White...core? I'm Hilda. Ask me stuff if you want. Don't forget to extinguish any open flames. Only you can prevent forest fires.
  4. Mostly agree with you here. I'm not keen on the 2nd opening theme AT ALL. The whole theme is in english, but the words are sometimes mispronounced and it has some phrases that are rushed beyond understanding, and it just doesn't sound coherent at times. Not to mention, it's a downgrade from the original theme.
  5. Day 1 - Ups, Downs, and Friends in Low Places. Marion, I'm going to name you Marion. Ame escorts me downstairs and through the turnstile back out into the ground floor of the Hall, and ushers Victoria up the stairs to select her starter. Why on earth must she start with a new Pokemon if she already had partners before? She seems nice enough though, as long as she stays out of my way. Unfortunately for her, however, I'm also taking on the Reborn League. I have a feeling we'll meet up on opposite sides of the field multiple times throughout my journey. Hopefully she doesn't try to impede my progress. "..Heyyy, you're kinda cute." Is this...is this guy talking to me? Apparently, this guy -I think- is Cain. He certainly appears to be flamboyant and unashamed of who he is, so good for him, but why is he bothering me? Not long after my turmoil brews, he releases a Nidoran from it's pokeball. A battle. I'm a Trainer now. I suppose challenges should be expected. --- I...I did it. The Mudkip I just met did most of the work, to be fair, but he trusted me enough to pull through. The Potion from that lady earlier was...well, also helpful, but not long after getting my partner, I got my first victory. Marion also seemed to learn 'Mud Slap' according to the PokeDex. Gained a bit of chunk change and a rather unsettling bit of praise from Cain to top it all off. He's...He's just being friendly. Cain directs me to the Pokemon Center that is functioning as a part of the facility. Marion's moves and HP restored, I'm ready to start my journey. Or not, Victoria seems to be chomping at the bit to see how her partner can battle. Here we go again. --- Mud Slap made Victoria cake, and after an odd episode involving a clueless trainer and her Snubbull running away, I was able to defeat every trainer in the Opal Ward....that is...those that thought I was worth their time. Reborn's general populous isn't hospital in the slightest. Guess I'll have to earn my respect 'round these parts. --- 'Marion! Return buddy, you gave it your best...' He -did-....and I failed him. The buxom woman opposite me returned her Budew and laughed in a manner that was more rage inducing than alluring. At least losing to a Doxy wouldn't get me beat up and tossed in a dumpster somewhere. Still, as adverse to physical touch and aromantic as I am, this lady was going to encroach on boundaries. ...speaking of those boundaries, I should keep a watchful eye on my wallet before she feels me up. I -do- need to pay her for beating me anyway. --- 'Sloane? Your pokemon is healed up and ready to go. Please be more careful next time!' I take up Marion, thank the receptionist, release him and pop a squat on a bench. 'Buddy, I'm sorry....I didn't have any other outs to go to...That one is on me.' 'Mudkip!' ...Marion didn't seem to let the loss get to him, like I had. The Mud Fish pokemon looked up at me with it's usual playful smile. Perhaps that was the mindset I needed to adopt. I needed a short memory. Losses can't drag me down. Not if my partner won't quit. ...-wait. That trainer had TWO pokemon. 'Marion...?' 'Mudkip?' 'We need to get you some friends.'
  6. Good on you, Ark. Very nice thread, and deserving of it's pin. Ah, I remember my first days as a Reborn citizen....I was looking for Gossip Gardevoir's forum page, and was absolutely mortified when instead of looking for Gardevoir, I only yelled her name really loud so that all of Reborn could hear...in the internet sense. Totally embarrassing. Many thanks. And to those of you new guys out there. Don't be Hilda. Use the actual search-bar and heed this thread.

    Good items to steal

If you were to ask me, Koffing and Trubbish have the best items to steal in the game (Both of these are mentioned above. Lost, you lovely soul.) The Smoke Ball is an item you can give to your lead pokemon to ensure escape. Pokemon in Reborn can be a little "sticky" at times. If you're training something that is slow, give it the Smoke Ball. Since Munchlax isn't a obtainable pokemon anymore, the Leftovers are incredibly rare, however, the Black Sludge basically works the same way for Poison type pokemon, with the added bonus of being a good item to trick, bestow, switchawhatsis unto opposing non-grass type pokemon.....Unless it's Noel's Swellow.
  8. Prayers abound! I don't know about smoking, but if it's anything like my addiction to Dr. Pepper....Well, I know kicking the habit is tough. Best of luck, and keep pulling forward.
  9. According to Eagleby, Expert Mode is essentially a completionist twist to his mono-gen challenge, where you haven't completed the challenge in 'Expert Mode' until you complete the region that was introduced in your generation's pokedex, or at least as much as possible. For example, if my restrictions allowed it, I would have to obtain full Dex data for every obtainable Pokemon from the Hoenn region.
  10. It's without Expert Mode. For now. It -might- be different if this challenge picks up steam and/or the game ever gets finished and things stay in their places. It's a possibility that I might go back and try to complete the proverbial 'Hoenn Dex' whenever musical chairs is over, and if/when all pokemon, including lengendaries, are obtainable.
  11. Enlighten?....What knowledge am I supposed to know from an Absol other than it showing up to forwarn people of coming disaster? ...enlighten me, Jake.
  12. The challenge was inspired by Eagleby18's Gen 6 Monogen run. Be sure to visit his thread and follow along, because he's doing a great job. Hi, all. Hilda's going to try and put restrictions on herself, because let's be honest. Reborn just isn't hard enough, right?..RIGHT... No one's laughing, okay moving on... Rules are as follows: I may only use pokemon RELEASED in Generation 3 (which means I can't use pokemon previously available in Johto and Kanto.) I may only use pokemon from other generations if they are intended for exchange in order to obtain pokemon from Gen 3.* I may NOT use pokemon from other generations in Gym contests, regardless of intent. My challenge is not a 'Locke challenge, so if I haven't had the rule listed by this point, it's fair game. (I -will- nickname my pokemon, however.) That being said, this is the Team Showcase sub-forum, so Etesian and the rest of you can feel free to make your suggestions as I go along. (Please do.) I may, or may not, listen very well. Day 1 - "Start with a Bang" The train eases into Reborn's regional train station, situated in the city's 'Peridot Ward' - according to the woman sitting across from me in the cab. She identifies with the moniker 'Ame', and is the brain behind the region's pokemon population's restoration, as well as the League. The League -I- am going to take on. "So, forgive me for asking, but are you a Boy or a Girl?" she asks, prompting a sigh and a one word affirmation of my manhood. Is it really that dark in this cab? I really wish they had the lights on when she boarded the train, I haven't been able to glean enough of her features to identify who she was myself..perhaps I can let that question slide. "Ah, and what is your name?" "Sloane." "Excellent-" Ame begins to give me the standard "your pokemon adventure awaits" spiel as passengers begin to disembark the train... Cue darkness. --- I'm alright. Apparently, the station was bombed. The blur that is reality right now is just a little to fast for my discombobulated mind to keep up. Ame helps me up. A girl with green hair and a cheer outfit shows up and claims the destruction wasn't her doing "this time". I stagger down a long pier into the next Ward and it feels like forever. A bystander gives me a Potion and it seems silly because the medicine only works on Pokemon. I meet another girl. I go inside the Grand Hall and the light blinds me, yet also brings me back to my senses. --- "...Alright, but Sloane will get to pick first." Ame tells the black-haired woman to my right, known as 'Victoria'. This is it. I get to meet my first Pokemon partner. I already have an idea of who I was going to pick if I had the option, but upon ascending to the top of the domed building, I was astonished nonetheless. Eighteen pokeballs sat on colored displays. Orange denoting the Fire starters, Blue showcasing the Water starters, and Green identifying the Grass starters. Across all six of the largest continents in the world, there was representation in this very Hall. Ame tells me what I already assumed about which pokemon were which, and I proceed to the Water display. "So you want Mudkip, the Mud Fish Pokemon?" Sloane 3000 Pokeyen/0 Badges Current Team: Mudkip.
  13. Well. This will give me something to do today.
  14. This man understands the sheer POWER that is Krookodile. Silly AI, Trix are for kids~

    Hiii !

Hi. I'm Hilda. Feel free to ask me stuff about gameplay and forum-use. And don't stick metal silverware in electrical outlets. That's just a bad idea in general.
  16. You won't be able to get Blast Power for a little while after Aya... So I guess that means you should look for some heavy hitters and steel types. You'll get past her eventually.
  17. Hmm... I'm going to try one of those interesting "long term" suggestions that might not be necessary for the immediate task at hand, but could be helpful in the long run. You PC features not one, but TWO Golducks. Golduck gets the move 'Aqua Jet' from the Move Re-learner in exchange for a Heart Scale. You also have an Azumarill -who I assume -was- in your party prior to you putting Diggersby and Phanpy there, but tis only any an assumption- Azumarill can have the move 'Aqua Jet' bred onto it. -If- possible, you might consider breeding your Azumarill with a Golduck after it has learned AJ to allow Azumarill to have a priority move that gets a nice Huge Power boost. Huge Powered Aqua Jet could at least get rid of Aya's Nidoqueen, Unfortunately, Sludge Wave -does- hurt a LOT, but like I said, long term food for thought. In the short term, Get Diggersby Bulldoze from the relearner if you can, and get Magneton or Klingklang for some nice immunity.
  18. Actually, I'm certain the problem wasn't fixed, and that I suck at reading sometimes. Sorry dragon-fren... Hint: On the 1F, you want the left-most pool of lava to drain.
  19. Pyrous is an odd dungeon because it can seem like you're going DOWN the mountain as opposed to UP at times. It looks like you've gotten the gist of it already, so we might call for a lock right about now. If not, well, here's a fun pro-tip. Those 'pissed off Magcargo' are EXCELLENT to EV train your pokemon for Defence, as well as levelling up in general if training Fighting, Water, or Ground types.
  20. That level 5 Bug of yours is probably Kricketot, my friend. If you have a Kricketot with Run Away, it's the best Pokemon on your team, in my opinion. Use that sucker. As for the rest of your team, forget what anyone else says about Braixen. You -should- always go with any starter you want. Mind you, it does make the difficulty ratchet up at times, but it's not fun sometimes if you can't have things your way. Patrat is Patrat. It will have it's early game uses, and Panpour is probably the weakest link. The first gym won't be kind to it at all, and the elemental monkeys are not exactly the greatest things to rely on, even in the post apocalyptic mess of a city that is Reborn. Not a terrible team though. I would suggest training up a Bidoof to level 15, and trading it for Litleo, Having your own Bibarel, or nabbing Pachirisu and Lightning Rod Goldeen.
  21. .......Right, not even close to an anime aficionado, but I'll take a swing at this one. With regards to Anime, my biggest pet peeve is when in the middle of a series, there is a rather pointless change in title sequence/end credits themes. (Yeah, Hilda had no business posting in this thread, Sorry guys...D: ) The most recently viewed anime series for me (Future Diary) falls victim to this. Faylan's 'Blood Teller', Future Diary's original ending credit theme, was so good in my opinion that I would sit through the entire credit reel, and pull out the air guitar. As for the opening. It's not Future Diary if I'm not naming off every Roman deity ever, as well as counting to three in German.
  22. ..................#NoRulesEveryone Am...ber?
  23. Crobat's reason enough for Zubat to exist....I wouldn't be adverse to a mega though.
  24. I'll bite. I found the game through multiple sources. My friend, who found it through shofu's youtube channel Nickaboo92 on my own youtube purusings Ame's own youtube channel. ...I guess the reason I included all three of those sources was because I didn't start to play the game until I noticed that 1. through shofu's playthrough that the game was noticeably unique in it's "hard knock life" approach in comparison to the main series....2. through Nickaboo in that it wasn't just a one way street and that if you play the game like a completionist would, you'll be distinctly rewarded...and 3. Through Ame, in that the developer particularly enjoyed and cherished her game enough to show people it's creation process. I stuck around because whenever I play a Pokemon game, I normally don't have to think and trudge in the realm of strategy and process. It was stated once on these forums somewhere that the game is only as hard as the player made it, and when I ran into a brick wall, I would -yes- rage for a bit, but then have to drop back and punt. Once I thought it over, I would realize that my ticket past whatever the next obstacle WAS there, and I didn't pick it up. This sometimes conflicts with my iron-strong belief that you should be able to conquer any game in any fashion you choose, but if you had that much choice, is the game really difficult, and better yet, does it push you to your limit? Sometimes a lack of options makes tasks feel MORE rewarding. That's what caused me to stick around. I felt rewarded.
  25. This one's a tie. The first of these two even-steven tracks is the title track, which is Glitchxcity's take on Unova's Route 10 theme. My favorite generation of Pokemon games is Gen 5, and I remember liking the track before I came across Reborn or even Glitchxcity. So, when I heard it when "starting" the game up for the first time, it felt appropriate. It's a fantastic tune. The second is the lead strain from the Peridot Ward. I remember how increasingly annoying this track would be the longer I spent in Peridot. It's not a bad piece however. It just emphasized the urgency to progress. In the early game, you spend quite a bit of time in the ward.
