  1. If you ever want to hear a good christmas song that actually encompasses the Christian significance behind today, check out "Mary, Did You Know". I understand lots of you may not be into that sort of thing, but the song is really good, and if you -do- care about the contents, it depicts the actual reason Jesus is such a profound character.

I was a quasi-protestant born skeptic for quite a while myself. I would be careful to refer to any details about Christ as "Myth" - but that's a discussion for a later date. Merry Christmas, Mael. :)

I am an atheist, but I've still found this song to be stunningly beautiful. Thank you for sharing it.

  2. The rain hammered the adobe-styled dwelling continuously that Christmas Eve. It never was common for it to rain here in the first place, and when it did, it was usually just cause for dropping whatever the hell you were doing and running out into the middle of the street with your arms outstretched as if one was to embrace God in thanks. If I were spending the holiday alone, like I normally did, that's probably what I would have done too. "Nona, dear, ...are you going to open it?" David was being awfully patient. Again. I decide the best course of response would be to smile and nod, then begin gently removing the shiny wrapping paper from what ended up being a small felt box, usually known for containing jewelry. Moments like this were supposed to be shocking. This was the point where I was supposed to infer that the man next to me was laying his life at my feet, and how he chose to spend the rest of it was in my hands. This was supposed to be the part where I began to cry. ...This was supposed to be the part where he started his sales pitch. I guess he wanted me to see what was in the box first. I open it, and much to my lack of surprise, it -was- a ring. ...however, my eye doesn't catch my knight in shining armor on one knee. My ear doesn't register a proposal. Instead, I see David on both knees, and I hear sobbing. Something wasn't right, alright, but it wasn't me who was feeling it. "David....w-what's wrong? I think it's...it's beautiful....I like it, really..." "Nona, I intended to propose to you the traditional way tonight..but....but..." "Regrets are fine, really..." I lied, flawlessly shelving my disappointment of there being a reservation ...or was I even upset at all? Whatever, my pain wasn't important at the moment.. "No Nona, There's nothing I want more in this world than to spend the rest of my life with you...It's just...I didn't buy the ring....It was given to me by my mother...who...died this morning...." David's mother lived a very a rugged life. Drank, smoked, cursed, beat the living tar out of the man when he was a kid. She definitely fit the bill of the "evil in-law" that I wasn't sure I wanted with how many insults she hurled at me. All the same, it was David's mother's ring... A woman that hated my guts allowed him to use her very own engagement ring to propose...to me... First thing was first I had to allow him to ramble while I decided if I was really sorry for his loss. It would have been petty to have not been. "David....I'm...I'm so sorry...I don't know....I don't know what to say..." "I know my presentation was pathetic, but you always could say yes." Touche...
  3. From the the manger to the cross; from my heart to yours. Merry Christmas, Reborn.

  4. One missed field goal later, and the perfect Pick 'Em record is most likely gone. Standings after Day 3. 1. Hilda (7-1) 2. Jelly (5-3) 3. Red (4-4) 4. Simon (4-4) 5. Jericho (3-5)

  10. Mael - "One of These Nights" is one of my favorite Eagles tunes. Thanks! Jacze - Ed Sheeran, huh? The only song I've head from him is that one about not "****ing" with his love and take away pizzas and some such. This tune on the other hand is quite nice. Kygo did a good job with the mix, but I'll check out what it's supposed to sound like originally later. Thanks!
  11. The Boca Raton Bowl (Marshall/Northern Illinois) is easily one of the better matchups of the season. Picking that game was very, very difficult and ultimately, preference did nudge me to favor the Thundering Herd over the Huskies. In order for Marshall to win however, they have to do what they always do on offense (Like Memphis, score a LOT.) and get some critical stops on the other side of the ball. I believe that NIU - Jordan Lynch is a team that -can- be stopped. As much as I love the service academies, Navy is just overmatched in this game in a couple of areas. The game is literally in San Diego State's backyard. SDSU can score a lot of points, whereas the tradition option isn't usually very "explosive" from a "lighting up the scoreboard" standpoint. -usually- the Aztecs can play a little bit of defense. There's reason to pick the Midshipmen if you watched how closely they played Ohio State (a playoff contender) and Notre Dame, but it's just not favorable for them today. It would be an upset pick.
  12. All I have is a 3DS really, but I'll reserve this post. I have a Fire safarii with Charmeleon, Braixen, and Pansear. [will get back to this]
  13. At the end of day 2 of the Bowl Season, we only have one game to alter the standings (don't everyone get up at once, would like to not double post as much as possible) 1. Hilda (6-0) 2. Jelly (4-2) 3. Red (3-3) 4. Simon (3-3) 5. Jericho (3-3) If you picked Memphis today, you went 1-0 on the day. Yes, it was an upset pick, but based on what I've seen, the Tigers had a high octane offense, and it absolutely needed it to take a double overtime win over BYU.
  14. I can see it being an OU pokemon and Charizard is a decent counter due to being immune to WoW. Thank you, Skitty. (I haven't seen M-Voir run that often, but that also would do a lot.) Umbreown, I just don't think there's that many special attackers with the ability to cause it to "not survive hits" to justify sinking it to UU. You don't -HAVE- to Mega Evolve right away. The thing that makes M-Sableye a threat is that it will usually force a switch to protect physical attackers, allowing it 1 free CM with Prankster, and then it will usually get the 2nd one up due to prankster before anything else can touch it. Sure, Magic Bounce is a downgrade in ability compared to Prankster, but after the stat-boosts (which it pretty much can get for free if you aren't trigger-happy with your mega evolution) it's damn near scary. It doesn't need to be fast enough to get CM off if it's already happened. Also, doesn't this thing get Taunt access? Sure, it may be ideal to status it, but if you make it obvious, you're asking to get taunted. Priority taunt, remember...
  15. There are most definitely ways to counter many of the 'mons being suggested for the suspect list. I think it would do us all an amount of good to make your suggestion without attaching any emotional investment or opinion to it. It's the "suspect list", not the "Get this thing the bloody hell out of OU" or "please bring this thing back" list. That being said, I actually -will- suggest a Pokemon to be tested that I myself absolutely loathe dealing with. Sableye. Let's start with what I do know about the pokemon. Sableye has a very great defensive typing (Dark, Ghost), which provides it three immunities (Normal, Psychic, Fighting). It resists Poison moves, and it's lone weakness is the newly arrived Fairy typing. Fairy types are a -very- potent type to deal with in the current tier. Clefable and Azumarill are very threatening pokemon. Un-Mega-Sableye however, can use the move 'Will-o-wisp' and "always" outspeed due to it's default go-to ability (Prankster), which burns the target and cripples it's Attack stat. That effectively nullifies most Azumarill as a check, because the move of choice to dispose of Sableye would be 'Play Rough', a physical move that will be hindered by the burn. As such, Clefable is the lone outright check for this pokemon, outside of burning or poisoning it to whittle it down over time. Sableye on a cleric team without a mega stone is problematic enough. Mega evolving it grants it access to 'Magic Bounce', which is an equally problematic ability in that hazards and effects will not afflict the target, and in many cases, will the user instead. You have to be -very- quick on the draw to poison or burn this pokemon, because if you don't, you can get absolutely shut down by a strategically timed Mega Evolution. This pokemon also gets access to the recovery move 'Recover', which makes getting rid of it, even harder. With all of the priority utilities, the typeing, and the mega evolution granting it a different niche it can switch to easily without needing to alter the set much from the non-mega form, the last thing this pokemon really needed was recovery, but it has it, and it can be used without the mega with priority. To wrap it all up, Smogon provides a viable set for this pokemon to be used in an UBERS situation as it is. It seems like I'm not the only one who could make this argument. I don't care if this thing stays in OU, and I know I'm not the most reliable person to make a suggestion for stress testing pokemon, but if there was ever a pokemon I felt was a bit lowly tiered, this one is probably it.
  16. Let's hear the applause....C'mon show me how, much, better you are...~

  17. Current Pick 'Em standings: Hilda ( 5-0 ) Jelly ( 4-1) UTEP didn't pull the upset Red ( 3-2 ) South Alabama choked on ya, and Colorado State couldn't hold off the Pac-12 -this- year. Simon ( 2-3 ) Rough start, but your winners ( Utah State and the Airmen) certainly have put you in a place to make a comeback. Remember, it's College Football, anything can happen.
  18. the Sun Belt really needs more bowl ties. The New Orleans is the only real prize for a Belt team anyway, but at least they picked up the Camilia bowl...or..whatever...that is.
  19. Hilda - Ark - Thank you all. I like all of it.
  20. Sure. Theme me, and I'll attempt to theme a few of you. I'm not very good at this. (Some of these are also gag songs, because like I said, I'm -not- good at this.) Myself, Ame - Better Than Revenge - Taylor Swift Dan - I'm Awesome - Spose Jericho - Clint Eastwood - Gorillaz Kyo - Another One Bites the Dust - Queen Rose - Survivor - Destiny's Child
  21. I haven't heard it quite like that before. Anyways, welcome to Reborn. I'm Hilda. Don't hesitate to ask questions. Glad you came out and said hello!
