  1. Consider me odd then, but I appreciate any response - even contempt - if I learn from it. You simply have not done a good job at having me be opposed to befriending you. --- in fairness to Trump, he was placing the Affordable Care Act on the Democrats in the news I've seen from CNN, Politico, and Fox. Which considering that's Obama's signature legislative victory that's not totally wrong. It is the GOP's fault the AHCA didn't pass though.
  2. At the end of the day, Mael, you're either paying for healthcare, or you're paying for healthcare. When it was a choice prior. Is it really that hard to see why people are upset about that? If you don't WANT healthcare (which admittedly, is beyond my personal understanding) that's fine sure, but you still have to pay for it. Many people actually take the individual mandate route because it's really all they -can- do. Let's try and start a business on top of that. You need employees, but wait! if you get to 49 and your business isn't exactly Trump levels of successful, you may have to force yourself to STOP growing your business because that 50th employee will cause Big Daddy Government to force you to provide insurance to all of your employees or your fine goes up rather dramatically. There goes your dream of pulling your small business up by it's bootstraps - because all of a sudden, all of your profit isn't enough to cover the costs. But that's okay, because Democrats don't care about people that are driven to go above and beyond what is actually necessary to make their families not only provided for, but also happier. Making too much money makes you an enemy of the State. And a prime target to aim your tax grievances at. Jesus, on the other hand, wasn't a government official that was looking for policy advancement. His biggest goal was for people to believe in Him as the only way to salvation. Case in point, every money-grubbing Republican has no chance in hell at walking into the pearly gates simply because they went to church too. And no matter how much willing Democrats are for supporting the ACA, the same applies if they don't believe in Jesus as their Savior. If Jesus is the only way for anyone else to get to Heaven, what's the point of having to love others? My friend, the acts of grace Christians commit are because they are compelled to do so and are a product of the Holy Spirit at work within them, not because they are forced to do so. We've already reached that impasse on God's intent for mankind before. God was big enough to allow mankind the choice to turn against one another. Unlike the government, which is supposed to be representative of all of us collectively - effectively making us as equally important as our Congressmen are. Love, like kindness, can't be forced. If I am paying the individual mandate, I'm paying it because I'm a compliant American citizen who currently probably doesn't have a real choice in the matter. I'm not paying it because it's "the right thing to do." I hope you do well on your paper - and I wasn't trying to anger you. I am truly sorry.
  3. You're being thanked for being present, being open for actual discussion, for putting up with me so many times, and yes, for your snark. I get a kick out of watching politics. It's probably something I'd equate as "Teen Mom" levels of "guilty pleasures" in my experience. By commenting, you're allowing me to talk about a passion I have that literally nobody else in my immediate sphere of influence doesn't, so that's endearing to me. Also endearing is your snark, because it possibly means you're somewhat enjoying being here - even if the purpose is to merely drop timely dank memes for the upvotes. I would feel pretty guilty if people felt like "Oh, Hunter started one of them politics threads again - I'd better bother myself to give my opinion because he probably expects SOMEONE to share one." ...and then they felt like they had to shoot response after response because I wouldn't shut up and let the thread die. You usually speak up when you feel something, especially before Election Day, and that gives your responses both substance -and- a window into your point of view. I find that fascinating when anyone brings their personal opinion and then is willing to bat for it because it matters to them. Contrary to how you might feel now, it actually makes me extremely interested in your words. Long story short, I have fun when others at don't leave me sitting here with my pocket protector all by myself at the lunch table.
  4. Thank you, @Arkhi @Maelstrom My friend - the individual mandate is necessary if the goal of the nation regarding healthcare is to provide every American with insurance. If today's vote getting killed by conservatives who wanted MORE distance from the ACA in the bill is anything to illustrate - that is NOT the goal of the nation and clearly not the goal of the majority party. The individual mandate is a fee that is applied to people who choose to not be insured, essentially nullifying the entire point of said choice (saving money.) It's as frustrating as the illusion of choice in video games, Mael, more so when it's your money involved. If the goal of the IM is to encourage people to sign up for health insurance, the money paid should work to insure THAT PARTICULAR PERSON... or their family... before it goes to others. All it's doing now is forcing people to throw away money for a program the Trump administration isn't going to do a thing to support and Congress half-heartedly tried to kill today. For seven years, all it's done is lower people's tax return amounts, and those who are paying for insurance are rewarded with increasing premiums that clearly indicate the ACA is broken and would need a monkey wrench and willing hands to fix. There's a difference between caring and being extorted. Charitable giving and volunteer work is caring. Paying the individual mandate is more akin to being extorted, as there is no choice in the matter other than paying even more money for your own insurance. Benevolence isn't so if the cause is outside of your own will. So here, it's not that Republicans and conservatives don't care for people, or only care for a select few - it's that they only truly "care" when they are able to make the choice themselves. That's how kindness works. A good deed that is coerced is merely compliance. @Mint3kool There are several reasons this bill died. Republican lawmakers saw this bill as a chance to deliver their constituents a party-wide campaign promise - to tear down the ACA within the first 100 days of Red D.C. The bill simply looked too much like the ACA for conservatives to be convinced the AHCA was actually anything different. The subsequent negotiations caused bill changes that caused moderate Republicans to fear for their liberal constituencies, who appreciate parts of the ACA. There are multiple types of Republicans - Establishmentarians who wanted badly for this bill to pass. Right-leaning House members who wanted to kill the ACA with fire as a whole, and moderates who genuinely wanted the first iteration of the bill, that was called "Obamacare-Lite." There were three different ends that were hoped for (the banhammer, the toy hammer, and "would someone just give me a hammer, ANY stinkin' hammer"), and there was only one bill. The saying "you can't please everyone" applies. @Eviora Thank you for indulging my thread. I can't say I know how much you actually care about politics, but you are at least interested in giving me a piece of your mind. I appreciate it. You've also taken some great shots at the president and I've even laughed. Given my position of wanting the AHCA to be passed -and- successful, that's pretty impressive. I think the most hilarious bemoaning so far is Pro-AHCA House members, who would have voted yes simply to easily fulfill a campaign promise. You can laugh at me too, if you like..... stupid conservatives EDIT: The unpopular opinion is that the problem with healthcare in America is that healthcare is attributed to reality. People need real resources, such as multiple years of education or the materials to create medicine. Those real resources have costs attributed to them. Innovation is something people would like to think is completely done out of benevolence or to advance mankind to a better era, but here too money is critical. If I were to be the one who cured all cancer in the world, I would gladly give the cure away for free because it's the right thing to do and there's a history for it in my family, but there are surely others that may not have been inspired or motivated to cure cancer if it weren't for the potential payoff. Healthcare is based in profit because there is real opportunity for innovation in the field, and the almighty dollar has the potential to feed, to cure, and to sustain human life. It's also based on profit because in reality, it's an industry, as there is both supply and demand. To add to this point, the smartest thing I've ever heard from Bernie Sanders is on healthcare, and it's not universal healthcare. It's about allowing United States citizens to shop internationally for medicine, where their public healthcare systems have lower costs. Having to compete globally would then force American medicine to drive down costs, making "affordable care" without causing outrageous binding marriages to premiums that skyrocket and without having to overhaul our own system that is so used to profit-based supply and demand.
  5. Official: Speaker Ryan pulled the bill - saving it from the inevitable trash heap and taking that "L".
  6. I -EXPECT- Trump to at the very least say incredibly mean things about House GOP members who vote No on Twitter. He's already complained that the process of whipping up votes was frustrating because it's too - get this - "political". The "Drain the Swamp" line certainly shouldn't be forgotten. --- Obama virtually had a full year to flesh out the ACA. The Republicans seem like they're trying to speed run this because it's an immediate promise of theirs. Ryan should have waited and fleshed it out. They certainly are only accustomed to playing spoiler and not leading, Neo.
  7. I don't either, considering Trump blatantly said everyone was going to be insured -and- Obamacare was out. The uninsured persons numbers seem to be listed as a decade long presupposition rather than immediate effect, but yes, by 2026, there supposedly will be 24 million more people without insurance. I don't think universal healthcare - in America given the circumstances - is realistic regardless of who is trying to sell it, and I think Trump supporters may have had other driving motivations for voting for Trump than healthcare. It's more of a big deal for Republican lawmakers. --- ...and, for the time being, it may be pretty inconsequential. Speaker Ryan visited President Trump to discuss the air in the House chamber - and reports out there are signaling that the bill isn't looking so hot right now. I guess people aren't really afraid of the guy - for better or for worse.
  8. One of the Democrats in the House had to be absent for today's vote to make it to a relative's funeral. This gives the Republicans an extra "Nay" vote they can allow. The maximum amount of "no" votes the AHCA can take and still pass is now 22. --- My family also would benefit from the AHCA. So I hope it passes on that account. Although it would be humorous to see Trump get egged in the face.
  9. It certainly could be about approval ratings, but this is one of those things that had me pretty skeptical about Trump when it came to his so-called "conservatism" during the campaign. Trump was the first Republican candidate to advocate a "replacement" plan with the phrase "We aren't going to leave people dying in the streets. We can't do that." in the debates. Since his victory, his being President(elect) coupled with Democratic insistence that the American people would be extremely upset with the Affordable Care Act getting repealed strengthened the need for Republicans to begin rolling out alternatives they had drafted rather than just bring the axe on Obamacare. So far, assuming polling is more accurate than it was during the campaign, most Americans seem pretty upset one way or the other, as the American Health Care Act has a pretty low approval rating of 17%. However, the Trump Administration needs this victory in order for the president to begin cooking with gas on the rest of his agenda - and Republicans in Congress almost assuredly need this one done or Republican voter turnout will be dismal in the upcoming midterm elections. Most Republicans just wanted the ACA gone before Trump entered the scene. Now the goal has morphed into "let's not try to mess up EVERYTHING" for some, while there are still a fair amount of people that are bent on "really" getting rid of Obamacare by ensuring it's succeeding legislation looks NOTHING like it at all. And of course, every one else is most likely a liberal that would rather the ACA stay as it is or be "fixed" rather than replaced. I'm not sure how Trump really feels on the ACA, but based on his "It's now or never" approach as of last night, I don't think he even remotely cares as much as his fellow party members do. He knows he can easily pin the blame on specific others and shrug it off through his Twitter feed. Add that to an Even-Steven 8 person Supreme Court and Trump's incredibly bad luck with judges - and just letting the GOP perform disastrously today seems pretty sensible here. To quote his book, "Art of the Deal", this is what appears to be a President that is ready to walk away from the table. --- As for your quip about Obama, I really wish that wasn't as accurate as it actually is. This bill would be a slam dunk if that were the case.
  10. "This November, we have been given a mandate to repeal and replace Obamacare..." - House Speaker Paul Ryan. Probably. A mandate huh? Snide comments about how Hillary Clinton won the popular vote aside, it appears the same Republicans that were "mandated" to repeal and replace the Affordable Care Act are suddenly unable to muster the courage to follow through on that premise. The most staunch opponents of the ACA, conservative Republicans, stand as the biggest obstacle between President Trump, Speaker Ryan, and the Republican Party, and their biggest goal - extinguishing President Obama's crowning legislative achievement. Why? Because they don't really like the "replacement" plan - known as the "American Healthcare Act". It's been panned across the country as "Trumpcare", or "Ryancare", and to the most conservative GOP members of the House of Representatives, it's earned a damning moniker that is pretty explanatory as to why the right-wing of the House is suddenly not on board with what has been "the plan" since 2012. "Obamacare-Lite." --- In order to understand why the AHCA is getting shot down by members of the majority party that are in favor of repeal and replace - we have to understand what generally is supposed to happen with the bill when it's signed. Essentially, the biggest changes will be huge rollbacks in regulatory legislation when it comes to healthcare insurance companies, allowing them corporate legroom. The bill also gets rid of the "individual mandate" posed by the Affordable Care Act, which is a mandate on able Americans who can afford health insurance but -CHOOSE- not to have it. It forces those Americans to pay fees for every month they and any qualified persons in their home are without insurance, or a bulk fee during tax time. This is the groundwork fee that puts America toward the direction of "universal" healthcare, as the money has to come from somewhere. However, coverage options don't fall all that much. The more popular aspects of the Affordable Care Act - such as younger Americans being allowed to stay on their parents' plans until age 26, and having access to insurance with "pre-existing conditions" (medical situations that are already existent before purchasing health insurance.) are all present in the American Healthcare Act. In order for Obamacare to be successfully repealed - "something" had to replace it. --- Unfortunately, there are many in the House who believe insurance companies should be able to deny people with pre-existing conditions insurance in the effort to bulldoze any notion of American universal care. These people generally come from a caucus in the House known as the "Freedom Caucus" - the conservative band of House Reps responsible for ousting House Speaker John Beohner by taking a hard, unified line against moderates and liberals. They are a tight-knit group of righties who are quite a powerful force when they are not on your side. Especially when Republicans are the majority in the House chamber. The bill has then been tabled by President Trump and Speaker Ryan with these people and the result has brought the AHCA more and more to the right in an effort to secure "Yea" votes for the bill's passage, among threats from the White House of Representatives losing their seats to Democrats for failure to deliver on the Republican ultimate promise to repeal and replace the ACA. For one, this has only brought moderate success on the "Western" front, getting very few - if any - Freedom Caucusers to commit support for the bill. Then there's the problem of moderate Republicans in the other wing of the party abandoning ship in response to these backroom deal-makings. Moderates - especially Republican Representatives hailing from "blue" areas up for re-election - are aware of Obamacare's positives for their constituents and in effect need the ACA's good parts to remain in the bill in order to support the AHCA. As of right now, President Trump and Speaker Ryan need less than 22 Republicans in the House (assuming VERY confidently that House Democrats are unwilling to crap on President Obama's landmark legislature and will assuredly vote "Nay") to break with the party and deny "Trumpcare". With people from the right -and- the center pledging to vote "No" - it would seem the Trump doesn't know what the "art of the deal" is anymore, as prospects are looking dim for tomorrow's vote - a vote that was supposed to have happened tonight but was delayed due to the obvious uncertainty of the plan's fate. --- President Trump levied perhaps the last-ditch hail mary. It came in the form of a threat, and one that I found particularly interesting. You can either vote yes tomorrow, or Obamacare might be here TO STAY. All of a sudden, the dead-in-the-water legacy of the former President may survive thanks to the indifference of his successor, who is growing increasingly tired of playing politician. As a Republican that personally -REALLY- hates the individual mandate for my uninsured friends who have no choice in the matter, and the requirement that businesses with 50 or more employees -MUST- provide care -or- be fined, I very much am happy with the American Healthcare Act because it's -a- replacement plan that leaves in what's worked with the ACA while removing the burdens of the bill off of many Americans. It's the best of both worlds in the realism sense. I didn't vote for President Trump, but I did mostly circle "R" on my ballot, so this political derby, I hope my reps understand that I want a "Yea". --- L2beAMajorityRepublicans. Get gud.
  11. 10. Sorcerer #nostankingfordays 9. Wolfssegner Probably misspelled it, but it's my favorite beast unit in the franchise outside of Dragons. 8. Great Lord (Awakening) Broken characters with swords and lances. 7. Tactician/Grandmaster Needs no explanation. 6. Berserker #Charlottebestwaifu #IcansharewithXander #CritCity 5. Cavalier In terms of 1st tier classes, cavs are always nice to have. Whisky for my men, beer for my horses. 4. Mercenary Gregor, Severa, Inigo... the later games gave us fantastic units in this class. And unlike Hero, the 1st tier looks clean in both Awakening -and- Fates. 3. General ye old "bait". At least armored units looked good in Fates -and- were amazing. 2. Malig Knight I like Camilla. Sue me. 1. Dancer/Songtress Things that both shouldn't be on a battlefield. And yet totally should be. #Iloveyouazura this game has made me a weeb. Send help.
  12. Ah in Rev, Izana can't join for story reasons, and Yukimura can't by process of elimination when it comes to tending Castle Shirasagi. You can still Einherjar those units though! When you have bought one route, you can purchase another route for about 10 bucks or so less from the main menu through "Explore Fates" or something. Doing this means you get both routes for roughly the same price as Awakening if buying it from GameStop.
  13. Revelations starts you with only Azura and the server opposite gender of the Avatar - but ends you with every available unit in the entire game sans Scarlet. And you even get to use her a bit too. The problem with Rev is that it's not balanced well at all. Only get it if you are planing to beat up some noobs via online matches and you min max your units, as Rev gives you all of them --- That being said, I would consider availability at this point. Conquest is cheaper than Awakening due to being in most retail stores that sell games. If you find yourself in GameStop - think really hard about Awakening. Also, as Commander said, you can get Birthright much cheaper after buying Conquest. Awakening has better plot, Conquest provides more of a challenge and is thus more fun in my opinion.
  14. 5* Priscilla. good? Not? I know healers are trash, but with Inherit she can pick up Recover from Lissa or do just fine with Rehabilitate. Also - there may be defense chapters on the horizon, boosting the viability of any healer in PvE quests.
  15. Logged in. Got like 25 free orbs off a special log-in bonus. profit.
  16. I personally think you should emulate FE7 for the Game Boy Advance if you are potentially trying to play a good amount of the franchise. It's very easy and translates nicely to other games. Awakening would be the best answer for a first FE on your 3DS - but they may be officially off of shelves and marked up. As far as owning a 3DS title. I recommend Fates.
  17. "bump" --- Here I shall upgrade my favorite villains in this game by adding Walhart, as well as explaining Aversa. Walhart is a pretty one note character, but he gets on the board for being a pretty neat option for Morgan's father through the DLC I'm not getting. He passes down "Conquest" as a skill - which allows Morgan to ignore bonus damage by Beastbane, beast killers, wyrmslayers, and anything that takes down armored units. Essentially, you can be reckless with Morgan as a cavalry unit with that skill - and I like being a little reckless. Aversa is one of my favorites because as a mother to Morgan she passes down Shadowgift, which allows non-dark mages to use dark magic tomes - such as Nosferatu (WHICH IS ABSOLUTELY BUSTED IN THIS GAME, OMG...Fire Emblem: The Tharjaning...or Henrying....goodness gracious.) - meaning I can have a Fem Morgan use Nosferatu as a DARK KNIGHT LIKE SHE SHOULD BE ABLE TO, DAMN IT INTELLIGENT SYSTEM- Aversa is also the token "intimidating female" enemy - which is an archetype I feel feminists attack too often as "women who are bad girls stereotype all of womankind as bad girls" at times. As someone who has always been slightly intimidated by women growing up, it's comforting to have women written that way for me - because it's a "default level of strength". It's more impactful than having strong female protagonists in a sense too, because it doesn't come off as "forced" equality due to being intimidated by females being a natural state. Aversa's cruelty and nastiness is FAR from the norm, making that claim above pretty moot and giving her a signature character. I've yet to really know about her - but having intrigue in the first place isn't a bad thing. --- Two-Faced Archer: Noire Father: Gaius My goal with Noire as a unit was to establish her as an Archer class first and foremost, even though her magical mother made a compelling case for a reclass all by herself. This made Gaius pretty good (thank you sheep) before even picking the game up. However, the supports between these two are top-notch. Both characters are morally grey characters - so much so that when recruiting both of them they are both red units at first and you need to get Chrom in range - and both of them are unafraid to discuss their nefariousness out in the open. The support chain is also funny due to Gaius' chill hipsterish persona and Tharja's general deadpan attitude combined. 's good. Also Noire is the female Robin Hood everyone wanted. Orange hair works. back to unit analysis - I had Gaius pass down Lethality to Noire, and I had her pick up Vengeance from Tharja only because Anathema or Hex doesn't seem appropriate for an archer. Vengeance procs pretty often redundantly because Noire is a player-phase unit and often kills her target -or- is unable to be attacked by her target on enemy phase do to them being blocked by an obstacle - but it's better after promoting to Bow Knight - where she can engage in swordplay -and- attack foes in the open with better chance of being able to survive. Lethality just makes her a funnier unit to use and fits her Talisman-mode quite well. --- Next pairing: Maribelle-Donny Hey! A pairing that fits both parents from a support sense -and- Brady's character traits. Dunno how he'll turn out, but Aptitude is at least good to have!
  18. Grima doesn't seem likely because his/her human form is Robin already and they would need to either make Grima a stone user for Fell Dragon form... or have half of the map sprite covered in blackout like Grima is in Awakening.
  19. Panne and Virion eh? Hmm. --- Good. GOD. THAT TOOK FOREVER. How I thought celebrating the defeat of Gangrel would go down. Hunter: Finally! We avenged your sister, Chrom! Chrom: What should we do now.... Hunter:....Uh...I dunno..........We could sleep together... Maybe go for a mixed bath....seeing as we've already seen all of each other anyway.... LOOK MAN, WE GOTTA HAVE LUCINA GET BORN SOMEHOW. Chrom: Okay...as long as you're not throwing anything at me this time. How it -actually- went down.... Hunter: Finally!- Chrom: Hunter, I love you- Raimi (the border guard of Regna Ferox): UM. KHAN FLAVIA REQUESTS YOUR ASSISTANCE. Chrom: We just fought a war...but screw it, let's fight another one! Hunter: But... Chrom: Don't worry, we'll have conveniently had Lucina first. Just...we'll probably need to wet nurse her.....remind me of that when I try to make you stay in Ylisstol with an infant. .....So, after killing Gangrel (YES. LEVIN SWORD GRANDMASTER LETS GET IT.) - we set off for Port Ferox (the Feroxi have the best maps in this game.) and then for friggen Plegia for assistance against Wallmart the Superstore. Then, Plegia actually GIVES us warships and ample coffers - and HENRY - while throwing in some Risen just because Aversa is a total shill. THEN. THEN LUCINA JOINS YOU. I gotta say. I don't think the Emmeryn death was all that moving scene-wise. All I saw was Chrom and Lissa break into tears expectedly and Emmeryn being a selfless and terrible self-preserver expectedly. It's the chapter afterwards, where Mustafa's Plegian army has an identity crisis and "Don't Speak Her Name!" is playing in the background - where there was actually a care given about Em's death. I think that and the showdown with Lucina in Ferox tie for best chapters of the first arc. The whole "YOU, player, are Grima" bit is pretty funny if you are a female. The Heirophant - and Grima herself - have a horrifyingly distorted female voice that is quite similar to the Robin voice you picked. It's more effective at putting me on edge than I thought it would be. "Validar~" Jesus, I should stop doing them Dragon Herbs. --- Donnel.... has already capped Luck, Skill, and one of his combat skills (it's probably Defense.) - I had him second seal into Mercenary after getting him to level 15 as a villager and picking up Underdog. This broke the game. "Yeehaw", suckers. To make this even more impressive - Donny still hasn't picked up Patience - the level 10 Mercenary skill - yet. Second Seals are OP, bruh. --- So, I haven't recruited Morgan or Severa yet, but I have them available now. I want to get a few more pairs to S and be a little more sure of which skills they inherit before getting any experience before doing their paralogues - but that didn't stop me from checking them out. Exalted Princess: Lucina Lucina starts off with 19 base speed from +Speed Robin, and at 12 base defense, she's probably still okay. What makes this certain however, is the combination of Chrom's royal present for his daughter - Aether - along with the Parallel Falchion's ability to serve as an infinite self-heal. Offensively, her present from me is Ignis, a skill that I think halves magic/strength and moves it to the other offensive skill. This means that Lucina probably makes for an incredible Tactician. As a Lord, her 5 base magic isn't going to add much at the start, but she's only a point behind her father - who is currently a level 5 -GREAT- Lord. Ceiling seems pretty high for the future of House Ylisse. Time Lord: Morgan Morgan - if I recall - has an insane base speed of 17. From Chrom, he picks up Rightful King instead of Aether, which works the same way Hoshidan Unity works in Fates. This means Ignis will proc fairly often and that I might want Morgan to find some other skills, like Sol or something, to also get RK support. To be honest, I probably -will- do Morgan's paralogue right now because I can't think of any skills I want him to inherit instead of Ignis - which would take him a bit to learn due to it being a level 5 promote skill. Because Morgan can use tomes -and- swords, I might reclass him to Dark Knight. I like me some Dark Knights. This is probably the closest thing to Leo I'll get in Awakening. With Defense being my bane, Morgan might not be as tanky in that class however. (I guess this means Chrom's royal skill differs on which gender his children are. I assume Cynthia and Kjelle also pick up Aether, while Inigo would pick up Rightful King. That's pretty neat. It's also pretty neat that Chrom has NEITHER of those skills at the moment and is still passing them down. Way to be a team player, Chrom.) Cutting Wit: Severa Seriously......pig tails go REALLY. REALLY. REALLY well. With resting bitch face. I understand Mangs. I understand you, Ikaru. This chick is FIOOOOOOONE- She gets a much better (in my opinion) hair color from Frederick, along with currently Outdoor Fighter - giving her extra damage in open terrain. This is a good skill - but it's also the level 10 unpromoted Cav skill because Frederick hasn't learned any new tricks yet. I think I may want him to go back into GK and pick up Luna instead, while having Severa do just fine in Cavalier for Outdoor Fighter. From her mom, she currently gets Relief. I feel like I should hold off until Cordelia gets a sexier skill for a non-peg Severa, but if she's destined to go Cav, maybe Relief isn't bad. --- "The Thief, in the Night" Gaius!Tharja - A This is a support that FEELS right. It's hilarious, and it genuinely seems like both characters have SOME adoration for each other, even if Tharja isn't going to say so.
  20. A little better. Frederick actually pulls off the Cavalier look better than Sully or Stahl. The generic Cav is much more metallic, and the blue/red (depending on if the unit is on your army or the opposing army) is more of an accent to the armor than the main color. Stahl's green and Sully's red cover most of the armor, making it look much more bland and highlighting the wide open toilet bowl rim lookin' neck area more than it needs to be highlighted. (Generic Cavs look fine! If only Sully and Stahl wore helmets.) I kinda need Cordelia as a Peg for now - because I'm not using Sumia and I don't get Cherche until the Valm arc. I could reclass Panne though. I don't like the beast class in this game at all. Rest of you guys think that should happen? I don't have all of my marriages planned, and not all that I do are for min-maxing child units. I just wanted good versions of kids I -know- I'll be using. Chrom-Robin for example was two fold. It's technically ME marrying whoever I want, and if I were to do that, I would end up marrying Cherche -or- Lucina -or- Severa. However, aside from getting a pretty broken Lucina (hopefully), I chose to marry Chrom for story implications. Having Lucina threaten to kill you when you are her mother makes Chrom and Robin's relationship make the most sense, and it ups than ante for her. Gregor-Cherche may give a good Gerome, but I am using THAT pairing because I think Gregor -SHOULD- marry Cherche out of all the women. That includes Nowi, who many people ship with him due to story shoe-in garbage. Vaike-Sully is simply because I think I want a good Kjelle because I like armor knights, and the female ones are much more tolerable in appearance in this game than males (sorry, Kellam.) Gaius-Tharja is simply because I want a good Noire because Virion is garbage - but also because Gauis goes pretty well with most people he comes up with nicknames for. "Sunshine" for her is just outright hilarious. It will be interesting to see who best suits someone like Maribelle, Sumia if Chrom is not the one she ends up with, Lon'qu because he's allergic to chicks, Panne because Panne doesn't trust anybody, or Olivia because Chrom is taken. --- Remember, I'm playing through it twice as well. Next time, I won't min-max at all. I just am trying to get a feel for the game semi-blind!!! --- Unrelated: If you like "randomized" Fire Emblem - I highly think you guys should check out Ghast Station's randomized Conquest playthrough. Funny things like Elise being the Crown Princess, Odin being Camilla, Ike being Odin, and Marth losing every shred of dignity and becoming Peri are absolutely worth getting a few giggles and guffaws over. Also, the classes for each of the characters themselves are randomized, so you get things like Oni Savage Leo. (BRAINS -AND- BRAWNS BOI.) Seriously. Go watch it. It's deliciously funny.
  21. Oh yeah, .... I remember that screenshot.... ouch. At least you like magic. --- So, Here's some progress. ChromXHunter - S This support isn't anything special due to the eschewing of character development for comic relief. FemRobin and Chrom essentially go through the "Well, now we've seen all there is to see of each other, so there's nothing to hide." schtick, and then get hitched. Fates would later immortalize this support by making it a feature in MyCastles for nearly it's entire cast to experience with Corrin. I currently approaching the final stretch of Em's arc - with a sacrificial stage dive, a battle against an unwilling pursuing Plegian force set to the tune of "Don't Speak Her Name!", and a Wild West Showdown with the Mad King standing in between the official "scene" Chrom has over his wedding and my current progress, so the two are essentially only getting max pair up bonuses, should I opt for them to use them. Gameplay wise, pairing these two up and turtling maps happened somewhat to expedite the support, but both characters were so good that they didn't even need to pair up all the time - allowing me to switch it up to help other characters as soon as the S was reached. FredXCordelia - C I can already tell this is going to be a decent support chain. Here's what happened to Frederick, Sheep. I didn't want to use Freddy until I Second Sealed him. I did - to Cavalier. Cav allows him to wield his Silver Lance and keep his movement over Knight. I didn't want to use Wyvern until I got Cherche, which is a substantial ways into the playthrough. Frederick still has insane damage output, but he isn't shrugging off enemies and he might get a little more experience now, which helps his stats a tad. Cordelia might be the best recruitment unit-wise. She's very, very, very good. VaikexSully - nothing yet. Gaius - Currently buddying with Chrom so that he can get some experience. His wielding swords over hidden weapons in this game is nice, as it allows him to actually kill things. Tharja joins in the next chapter, so he won't be stuck shadowing Blue for too much longer. ---- I really like Gregor, Maribelle, Gaius, and Cordelia at the moment. I may get some paralogue maps in right now, so I can push Donnel and hopefully second seal him to Merc. --- Comments on the Emmeryn arc: It's somewhat well written - and perhaps the nicest touch is Plegia becoming demoralized by having forced a peacekeeping ruler to her death. I don't like that Aversa practically douses the effort of the player to MAKE it to Emmeryn successfully by summoning arrow wielding Risen to take out the Peg Knights intending to rescue the exalt, as well as put pressure on Chrom to forfeit anyway - but I see what Intsys wanted with this arc.
  22. I read somewhere that your mods in general are affected by your Asset/Flaw decisions as opposed to just those two selected stats. - Luck was going to be my flaw originally, but I saw that it made magic mods worse as well, whereas defense left the avatar's strength and magic mods in a favorable spot. Robin being able to abuse both stats seems more fun to me over Robin tanking everything. - Chrom is a good father and will help Lucina with the physical defense some. I just wanted to leave Tactician Lucina an option. - Morgan is in the same boat as Robin. He'll need to use tomes with reckless abandon.
  23. I'm trying to do this run without DLC, but I'm also only playing the game on normal classic. Chrobin support thus far: B. Just got Donny. This guy reminds me of home and I dig the pot headgear. To raise him up - I opted to have Kellam backpack him for extra defence and follow Hunter or Stahl around to pick up some experience. I like trainee units like he and Mozu - but it's gotta be the villager-bumpkin theme. Units I like so far Chrom (he's so dreamy.) Lissa Stahl Vaike Virion Donnel Kellam Myself (OP) Dislike Sumia (great unit though.)
