  2. Greek Fire Emblem on the Forums A god's blessing, what value does it hold? Every mortal is born with some link to a god or goddess. This link allows them to be gifted a tiny spec of their power, a power that grows and matures within their own body into their own power. While their power is separate from those of the original god, it highly mimics that of it's originator. These gifts come in different elements and through training allow the user to command and control the elements they are linked to. For these gifts, all the gods ask in return is respect and reverence. On a the continent of Greece two rival nations, Athens and Sparta, are about to have their 21st semi-centennial mock battle to see which nation and by extension which god is the strongest. Athens fight to protect the honor of the Goddess Athena while Sparta fights for Ares. The score is tied 10-10 and this battle will decide who pulls ahead. However, tensions for this battle were at an all time high as 15 years ago an outbreak of unknown origin began to take over the land. The Curse is what the people began calling it as it began to twist and mangle those who were afflicted. All the afflicted are changed not only physically or mentally. The exact physical changes are different form person to person, some had the effects occur rather slowly while others went full beast within a couple days. To add onto this paranoia, all contact with the gods had ceased just 5 years prior. All hopes were that a splendid performance between the two nations would provoke some sort of response from the gods, however one should be careful what they wish for. After the mock battle battle Athena and Ares finally made contact and both declared war against the other nation. It is now the year 1420, five years since that day and the war hasn't stopped with many casualties and no ground gained on either side. Meanwhile, in the Underworld, Hades is plotting something big. He's having the souls of the dead construct some sort of weapon as well as the souls of the corrupt executed and cease from existence. Whatever the purpose the weapon it can't be good and holds a great threat not only to the mortals on the surface but also the Gods. Someone has to inform the surface about it, prevent it from ever being fired and save the lives of all those on the surface. This is the story of a group who tried to do just that. ----- Welcome to Greek FEF or, as some would like to call it, Deceitful Turnabout Reboot. I, EXLink shall be your host. Currently I am hoping to take on 7 players, up to 9 if I feel like there are just too many good submissions. Don't worry about needing to fill roles like healer/performer/thief as character concepts and quality are more important. I will warn, however, that this FEF is not for the faint of heart. Characters deaths may occur, late in the game there is planned PvP, and if something seems unfair it probably is. ----- The World Map of Underworld/Surface/Heaven Level Layout Level Description Map of the Surface Surface Area Descriptions Athens vs. Sparta Timeline (The Long Version for people who like to Read) Timeline (Only the important stuff) Races ----- Mechanics & Game play Changes We will be using Fire Emblem On Forums Handbook v2.3 [LINK] General Skills Class Changes New Classes ----- The Players Ahem, first and most importantly, YOU'RE ALL DEAD! Welcome to Tartarus in the underworld and I hope you enjoyed your say thus far. Whether you were the most heinous of villains or purest of saints you were sentenced to Tartarus to work on this strange temple like structure called the Sotiria. While its no where near as bad as burning in the fields of Asphodel, due to not needing sleep no breaks are ever given. No rest. You've been working for what seems like an eternity. Until one day a strange boy comes up to you and offers you something both tempting yet utterly ridiculous. "Hey, I've heard from a guy that you're pretty cool. I'm thinking about running out from here for the surface to stop my father from trying to kill everyone with this thing he's building. Wanna come with?" This... boy just offered you a chance to escape the underworld. Is he serious? Whether or not you believed him you gave an answer similar to, "Sure kid." then continued toiling away. Before leaving he asked you for your preferred... weapon? Oh no he's serious isn't he. Hopefully this is just one crazy and stupid soul. Unfortunately, a couple days later you're transferred to an empty section of the compound with 7 other people and that boy is with them. Just what have you gotten yourself into? 3. Baldur kept his head down, eyes to the ground by his feet, and remained silent. Today was already an emotional roller coaster, but to then be given the information about Famine. He had the man in his arms. He could've ended him right there and at least avenge her. Baldur did not respond to Kane's request, nor glance up to acknowledge him. He did not deserve respite, not until his task is complete. Would anyone even trust his food anymore after all his failures? His eyes did however swap from the ground, to Shin, back to the ground, then to Mim. Mim she... her face... that was his fault. The apothecary's once pristine appearance was now forever blemished due to his foolishness. "Worthless..." He muttered under his breath. No, there was no way the man could ever grant himself a break.
  4. The tiny bee let out an echoing terrified shriek as she witnesses the life fade from two bugs in such quick succession. Paralyzed, she couldn't take her eyes away from the lifeless husks and the pool of crimson liquid slow spreading underneath them. "They're... they're dead. Gone. I-is that what's gonna happen to me!? N-no! I didn't set out for this! I don't want this! I don't wanna die! I can't die yet! There's so much left to learn!" She tried to scream her panicked thoughts out but she could not force a peep to sound forth. It wasn't long before another bug thudding onto the ground... but wait! Is he still alive? He could be. If Stardust didn't want to die, she's sure that bug doesn't want to either! Without thinking or considering to consequences the teen hobbled over to the bleeding out rough with the knife. Getting on her knees and taking out some medicinal ointment she tries to stop the bleeding. Even though he just tried to kill everyone moments earlier. "Y-you can't die! D-don't you have something to live for?! Come on!" She just has to stop the bleeding! Stop the bleeding! STOP the bleeding! Move to C12, attempt and fail to use Vul on Looter A, then reluctantly activate Charisma+
  5. "A-are you serious...? What do you even gain by robbing six people!? Are items on our backs really worth risking your lives over!? Or do you want to brag to your buddies that you killed six people by out numbering them!?" She was beginning to get hysterical. She turned back to her black ant ally, "and its not 'Bee Lady'! I told you my name is Startdust! STARDUST! I don't get any of you! How can you all be okay with this, acting like killing someone is just a run of the mill thing to do!? "
  6. Stardust covered her mouth and gasped a big gust of air after Pinecone skewered the cockroach. "D-did he just... I-is that... blood!?" Her stomach felt queezy, like whatever she ate this morning was about to come right back out. She dug herself deeper into blades of grass and grasped them tighter than if she was hanging off a cliff. "Pinecone! What in the queen's name did you just do! I said scare them off not brutally murder them! That man needs help! He's going to die! Oh by the queen, thats a lot of blood... I-I have some medicine on me. If you promise to s-stop and go away I'll give you some." She offered to the cockroach man with the spear in his chest.
  7. Stardust's face lost all color at the sight of all these Marauders, "Wha-wha... Why us? What D-did we ever do to you guys!" It looked like she was in a massage chair set to full blast with how much her body was shaking. She could drill into the ground at this rate. She ran to the closet cover she could find before lightly banging on her brother's wooden armor, "P-pinecone you big oaf! Go knock one guy out or something! Use that thick skull of yours and bash somebody someone with it! I don't know and I don't care, JUST DO SOMETHING!" The vibrating bee then turned her attention to the rest of the group, "T-that goes for all of you! Do your jobs and scare them off!!!" Move to D13 and Activate Charisma+
  8. Baldur kept silent and grit his teeth as Simeon left the tent. Once he was alone again, quietly he mumbles to himself, "Make peace? How could I make peace? I don't deserve the luxury of peace." Suddenly a wave of emotions crashes into the butler. Emotions he thought he long had suppressed by now. Boiling rage, copious guilt, immense regret, and stabbing sorrow were all felt one by one. He couldn't stop himself from sobbing and letting a river of tears run down his cheeks, "I'm sorry... I'm... I'm so sorry... I couldn't save you... I couldn't save anyone... How could I fulfill my promise to you like this!?" He buried his face into his knees and continued sobbing softly, only loud enough for folks right by his tent to hear.
  9. "Wha-wha-what!? AIIIEEEEE!" The tiny bee scream as she was lifted up into the air. "S-stop this nonsense! Put me down! Put me down!" She vigorously hugged her tablet with both arms and flailed her legs around like she was drowning in raging waters. What was with this bug and why her? Uuuuugh, arriving at scholar's university can't come soon enough!
  10. "Wait wha-? OOF" The tiny bee was not expected to be suddenly surrounded by the arms of this new face. "Breathe Stardust, breathe, it’s only going to be a short time. No need to get all angry." However, as soon as the girl took interest in her work a great big smile grew across her face. What the bug would see would be a big circle in the middle of the tablet. With a small cube located outside of the circle on the north side, a flower on the outer east side, fire on the outer south side, and finally a leaf of the outer west side. Actually inside the circle were a series of dots of varying sizes with one big dot with a circle around it near the center. However, there seems to be a lack of any sort of dot located in the south western side of the circle. Between the Leaf image and the Fire image. "Heh, I see someone who finally has taken interest! What you’re looking at is the next great big discovery for big kind! This, my comrade, is a map of all the stars in the night sky!... Well, it’s not finished yet and it’s only through eye sight alone... but give it a couple more moon cycles and I’ll have the entire circle filled! Plus, when I can get the funding more more proper equipment it can be even more precise!" This was all followed by a smug laughter.
  11. "Ah-heh heh heh... I see..." it seems that wasn't quite the response she was expecting. Still! There's at least 6 other bodies here. She just needs to be behind one or faster than one, both of which were easy to accomplish, "Just hang in there, Stardust. Just one little trip with these group of nitwits then you'll finally be with people who understand you." With her free hand she lightly slapped her cheek and shook her head, Suddenly this jumpy bug comes crashing into Pinecone, "Once again, people always go for the big oaf..." She sighed, "As you can see... uhhh... Sting was it? This guy is about as interesting as a jar of dirt. Trust me when I say you're better off getting to know literally anyone else here."
  12. Stardust let out a small giggle, whether it was because of Ebon trying to be intimidating or the pansy ant boy no one but her knew. Granted, if she wasn't standing behind her meat wall and surrounded by others to hide behind she'd be shaking in her boots as well. "Oh, don't worry about me~. I'll be sure to keep a fair distance away from you should there be any trouble. Besides, what's the likelihood of running into anything nasty out there? Only a band of fools would attack a group from the council right? They'll run for the hills as soon as they find out..." There's a slight pause, "R-right?"
  13. Hiding behind the big bee during the entire speech, the tiny bee had her focus glued to the tablet in her hands. She has been gleefully and meticulously making small, light, markings into it. She had a straight edge and there would be a clean minute to two minutes before she either placed another small light dot, or ever so slightly adjusted the straight edge. As soon as there was a pause in the conversation, almost as if she was waiting to get this over with as soon as possible, she immediately began to speak and for the first time removing her gaze from her tablet. "I'm Stardust. Pinecone will tell you the rest." Emotionless and straight to the point. After which she immediately went back to her tablet with the same amount of glee and enthusiasm as before. Continuing to do... whatever it is she's doing.... only this time there was a tiny little humming to go along with it.
  14. Baldur went from gloom to rage as Simeon spoke. Visually getting more and more frustrated as the blacksmith continued, "One small mistake huh?" He scoffed, "You act as tho I should just let all this go? Like none of this ever happened!?" He slammed his fist on the tent ground before pointing towards the curtains, "If Ferdinand hadn't been there to clean up my mess, Mim would have been DEAD! D. E. A. D. DEEEEEEAD! How can I just walk that off!? You think this was the only time I let someone die because of my incompetence!? Everyone should be hating me! Shunning me! How can they not? When I'm needed the most I always, ALWAYS fail and someone ends up hurt or dead." The butler was forcing himself to hold back any tears trying to shove their way out. For now he seems to be keeping them at bay.
  15. The butler was surprised to have two visitors tonight. Lysander was kind of understandable at least, but Simeon? He very much so wanted to shoo him away like he did for most others who didn't have business with him. However, the man has only ever been nice to Baldur, even when he didn't deserve it nor asked for it. With a deep breath, he exhaled and gestured the blacksmith into the tent inviting him in. Once the tent inside there was a long period of silence, "Well... um... You didn't exactly see the fight but I was worse than useless. Not only did I not do my job but I was used as a bargaining chip for the enemy. If it were not for my ineptitude, Mim would've be fine, Arthur wouldn't have had to shield an arrow, and Shin... he wouldn't have had felt that doing what he did was his only option. I am needle that snaps when going through fabric, cheap, worthless, and better off in the garbage. What good is a healer who can't heal? What good is a defender that can't protect? What good do I even bring?"
  16. The butler began to slowly sulk once again as Lysander spoke, "What are you doing? Here's your chance! Don't let it go!" A sweet feminine voice range through his head and his drooping ceased, "Don't just sit there!" He begins to reach his arm forward to stop the wind mage, "That's it! now just-" "Oh please, are you serious." All movements cease once more as a groggy deep male voice bellows over the now meek voice of a mouse, "Look at yourself, you're disgusting. You really think YOU could be of any use? If that use is getting that man killed then go ahead. That hasn't stopped you before, why start now?" The butler retracts his arms and more rapidly goes back into his slump. Content to this being the best course of action. "I'm... Sorry..." Baldur mutters lamentably as Lysander leaves the tent.
  17. "Ah, I see. I found it odd that House Daxter was the target of so many of your heists." The butler spoke, his tone and mood picking up just slightly, "However, unlike yourself I am not sure it was the Daxters themselves I had a 'run in' with. They are one of my suspects and to be honest one of the top ones. I... only got angered because of Famine's lyrics." He stopped himself before going any further, "As for trust, I can trust you enough based on your history and time with us. Even if I may not have enjoyed the first impressions. However, I think you should find someone else to trust. I am... unreliable at best, as much as I would love to hear your lead. Kane would probably be your best bet here in our group. Him or Lenore anyways..."
  18. Well this was surprising. Out of all the people to come to him he least expected the newbie he chewed out. He let out a soft sigh before clapping his pocket watch shut, clipping it back on his outer coat pocket. The butler got himself into a more proper sitting position, "You may come in." He uttered melancholingly
  19. "They shouldn't..." Baldur muttered under his breath before going silent. Baldur never got up from ground after that, save for going into his tent once it was pitched. Not yet has he come out even for food, the butler couldn't work up any will to eat. Whatever liquid that was in his canteen was all gone by now, not a drip remained. The numbness pf the senses that came with it, a preferable alternative. Another day unwillingly seared into his memory and another failure added to the list. "One more hour huh?" he spoke out loud to himself as he freed his clipped watch and began to watch the time tick..... tick..... tick..... on by. His face soulless and dreary, slouching into his bent up legs as the hand holding the pocket watch sunk itself in front of his face.
  20. ". . . . . What? Can't you see I'm busy with my research? Huh, you want me to help fight!? P-preposterous, my time is better spent doing literally anything else!"
  21. "I... I've only started carrying this recently. It's been a shackle on me ever since." The butler mutters, guilt drenched in his tone along with undertones of pain, "It started as a gift from a close friend to help but quickly spiraled out of my control. *cough* I suppose apples never fall too far from their trees since my old man had much the same issue only even farther gone. Worst part is, even if I had the will to try and fix this, it wouldn't solve the cause... Nothing could..."
  22. "I-I could never forgive myself if I sat back and something happened to either of them... I... I..." The calming grasp of Simeon lowered Baldur's arms and he sunk back into his heels. He really couldn't do anything to help could he. Time began to slow, Simeon's voice faded away, the strength in Baldur's entire body began to give way as the Blacksmith's ushering to sit down took hold. Before he knew it he went to sitting, then to laying back on the ground loosing the will to even sit up. He stared into the sky as it began to turn dusk, yellow slowly began to overtake the blue hue. The churning burning feeling still ever present throughout his body. "Wow, could you be anymore pathetic." "I told you that you would be useless." "What a worthless human being!" "Can't even stop it a second time? Talk about being completely inept." "This is all your fault you know?" "How could you let all this happen?" "He was too focused on House Daxter." "HA! Like he could do anything about that now." The butler put his left palm to his forehead. He has to shut them up! He needs his canteen! But everyone is watching. If he does that now... "Disgusting." "Laughable." "Scumbag." Arg! Who cares anymore! He hurriedly rummaged though his inside suit pocket and popped open his canteen. He quickly chugs down the canteen, too quickly in fact as he begins to cough after breathing in the liquid. With the canteen completely empty he continues to stare into the dusk of the sky completely silent.
  23. Baldur let out a guttural scream as his wrist was crushed underneath's Death's heel. He could do nothing but flail about on the ground, the strengthen sapped from his arm due to the slowed blood flow and well, his wrist now broken. "No! Not again! I refuse to be useless again!" Once the weight of death's foot was released he immediately began to rise up. He didn't care if his clothes were ruined, his wrist was shattered, his strength gone, none of that mattered to him. He had to save them! That was his only job! "I have to... Snowbird.... Fiscu-" He was then cut off by an arrow piercing him, sending a wave of venom into him which sapped him of all his strength sending him to the ground. His vision began to blur. Hew lie there for what seemed like an eternity. Was this the end for him? Was he really going to leave this world an even bigger failure? The searing pain of the poison coursing through his blood spread throughout his body like a raging forest fire. Suddenly, Baldur's body began to move. Even after all the abuse, even after all the pain, even with only one working hand he began to raise himself from the ground. His only working hand using his healing staff as a crutch. Shaking violently and swaying too and fro, his left arm the only thing keeping him upright, "I-I am alright, see?" On one knee....... Two knees....... One foot....... Both feet. "Just focus on Fiscus and Snowbird, I'll-hrk... I'll be fine." The ground swayed such as it would for someone who had been spun around in place hundreds of times, His vision in a constant limbo between clear and undicernable blurs. He slowly inched inched his way to the closest victim to him, almost loosing his balance more than once and the small distance between them. Finally, collapsing to his knees he reached in front of Mim. His staff planted firmly in the ground with a trail in the dirt behind it where it was dragged it's short distance. Loosely lifted his shaking arm, his hand sulked for he did not have the means to lift it anymore, He began channeling healing magic into Mim, well, whatever was able to reach her has it meekly flowed from his limp hand and quickly dispersed. It was like trying to hit someone with a shotgun half-a-mile away. Tinted pink tears ran down the only visible side of his face, unable to hold them through the immense physical and emotional pain, "I m-must... fufil... my duty.... As a servant... it is my-my only duty!" Feeling a wave come up his chest, he quickly used the nub of his wrist to block the flow of blood he began to cough up with his cravat, it now having a huge black and red splatter across it. Seemingly, unable to feel the pain of moving his wrist, he continued his treatment. Face covered, dirt and blood from not only himself but Death as well. "No one... will die! I-... I-... I REFUSE TO LET ANYONE DIE HERE!" The butler's head fell, his body still on it's knees and upright. He was now only able to rise his eyes to look at Mim, fueled by pure adrenaline he pushed forward, "Come on! Work! Work you damned staff! *wheeze* What's your purpose-... if I can't save people when they need me... WORK DAMN YOU!!" Tears continued to pour as he vainly tries to heal the small archer with no progress whatsoever.
  24. At first Baldur was completely annoyed at what Shin was trying to pull. What did he think he was going to accomplish? Then... but then... "That fucking idiot! Dammit!" The butler began to flail hopelessly as he tried to free himself from Death's heel. All he could think about was trying to save Shin before he bled out. "eeeeerrrrrRRRRRR! Get off! GET OFF! GET OFF!!! GET OOOOOOOOOOOOOOFF!!!" The butler couldn't hold back anymore, firmly grasping his staff he channels his magic focusing it on Death's bow arm. He then shoves it down and away from Mim's body before yelling, "Snowbird! FUCKING DO IT!"
  25. With his dominant arm he raises his staff in front of Famine’s face. "My magic can do more than just heal wounds and can cause much more pain than any blade. If you want to find out yourself-“ before he could continue the butler would soon find a boot to his and dirt in his mouth. Within a moment he found himself pinned to the ground his arm trapped beneath the heel of Death. Even through all the grinding he still managed to keep grip on his staff. This small man maybe strong but Baldur is equally as resilient. Gritting his teeth, the dirt in his mouth grinding against his white teeth. "Damn you!” he spat venomously, "Errrrr.... Everyone only focus on getting Snowbird out. If only one of us can be rescued let it be her!” As he said those word he shimmied the shiv he has tucked up his free hand’s sleeve preparing to strike if Death tries anything funny. It’s moments like these where Baldur was thankful he kept that habit up. He also tighten his grip on his staff, ready to use his magic to shove the scoundrel’s hand to hopefully make him miss a fatal shot at the archer. However, from his position he was able to get a glance at Mim getting an arrow from her quiver out. "So, this bird does have claws. Fine I’ll follow her lead if this is what she wants."
