  1. I can say almost all the tracks were carefully chosen to fit the atmosphere, but my favorites include Peridot Ward, Opal Ward, and the Team Meteor admin battle. Peridot/Opal are both dramatic and, being among the first tracks you hear, sets the tone for what kind of place Reborn City is. They're pieces that automatically tell players that there's a problem to be solved, but good luck because crime is abundant, pollution is everywhere, good Pokemon are few and far in between, and really, this ain't your little bro's Pokemon game. The Team Meteor admin battle, aside from being awesome in general, sounds like shit is truly going down the hole. You first hear it upon encountering a helpless Tangrowth hooked up to a machine. Something is wrong and you need to stop it.
  2. I'm pretty sure you can't get the Dull Key until you get Strength, and that's not until after you beat Aya, who is about two leaders after Shade.
  3. It's way after Shade, unfortunately. Too bad, since in my previous file in Ep 10, Scrafty was my ace in beating him. Maybe that's why Ame made the event happen later in the game...
  4. Go around to each side, fight the level 45 Pangoros, and flip the switches the Scraggies point to. Then you gotta deal with a level 50 Pangoro and Scraggy's all yours. (And just in case you're thinking of using one, don't use any Ghost-types. The Pangoros are all carrying some kind of item or ability that lets them hit Ghost-types with Fighting moves for 2x damage...)
  5. Unless you have a specific strategy and a lot of luck on your side, like with Saber12, Vulpix is most likely not going to happen at this time. Since your team is under level 25, I assume you haven't beaten Florinia yet so your levels are capped at where you are. Klinklang is a third-tier evolution with high stats and a massive level gap between where it is and where you are. And even if you do somehow manage to beat it, there's no guarantee the Vulpix will even have Drought; it's just as likely to have Flash Fire instead.
  6. Would you generally consider EVs or IVs more important?

      Shushup

honestly they're not needed for the story(haven't beaten the game yet). IVs and EVs are used to help in Competitive battling. If you want you CAN do EVs/IVs in the story, but I wouldn't recommend it. Also I would choose IVs for the storyline since there's no horde battles, (yet) in Reborn.

    3. FraRPetO

      FraRPetO

they don't really matter in story mode as Shushup said, just play and enjoy the game. You could try to get the nature you want, they're useful and not hard to obtain the desired one

    4. Shamitako

      Shamitako

EVs, EVs are much more easily controlled than IVs. IVs take days and weeks to get right, EVs take only a few hours. As such, few people will have outstanding IVs, so it's okay if yours are the same. But anyone actually trying will have correct EVs

  7. Ame should totally troll us by implying it could actually happen. We're probably all so desperate for a good Dragon-type that we might ignore how the "[Do X] [with arbitrary/impossible factors] and [Z cool/impossible thing] will happen" reeks of a typical video game urban legend.
  8. There's also how there's a reason Ame didn't put most Dragon-types or pseudo-legendaries in the game yet.
  9. I'm unfamiliar with breeding mechanics, so when is an egg's nature/ability/etc determined? Save scumming right before the egg hatched backfired...

      Wait fuck my Gyarados is a chick and so's the Scraggy. Fuuuuck no DD Scraggy. ;_;

    3. Vinny

      Vinny

We have a way of changing abilities, and a way of changing natures... Ame, where's the surgeon to change gen... you know...

    4. Timber Dragon

      Timber Dragon

I feel sorry for the one who needs to get anywhere near a Gyarados's balls or whatever. But speaking of Gyarados genitals, I wonder if I can just breed my Gyarados to make one to breed with the Scraggy and give it DD! Mwahahaha. Pokemon loves designer babies.

  10. Depending on how many you need, you could always just mine one. They're fairly common, even though they're hard to actually dig it up since they're so small. But I've come across numerous Heart Scales just from mining. It's probably less frustrating than the Luvdisc method.
  11. You're not talking about Mr. Bigglelsworth, are you? Because that's the only PULSE near Spiritomb in the Wasteland I know of.
  12. Be picky about which Pokemon to invest grinding time into. Reborn has high standards for which Pokemon will survive and serve you, versus the ones whose poor stats/movesets will wind up becoming deadweight. The ones that have served me well tend to be ones who wear multiple hats. Gratuitous Gyarados example: it can learn Bite, Aqua Tail, and Ice Fang. That's three (powerful) moves of different types in one mon. Any of the three starters you suggested, I personally recommend Chimchar. Fire and Fighting are both handy types throughout the game, and putting them into one mon frees up a slot for something else. I personally was rarely starved for decent Water-types. Water-types usually didn't take an active role in most major battles, and when it did, it was the move itself that did it for me rather than the type of the actual Pokemon. That's because gym leaders and other major battles cover their type disadvantages very, very well. It's not readily apparent on the first gym leader, but starting from the second, it becomes clear that having the type advantage doesn't necessarily mean you'll win. I'm still certain everyone in Reborn except you has access to an exclusive TM shop, because otherwise you wouldn't get insane Pokemon/move combos like a Seviper with Aqua Tail (now that caught me off guard...). Rule of thumb: expect a gym leader's team to have moves specifically designed to counter mons that have the advantage against it. The Bug-type leader has Ancient Power to seriously hurt the Fire- and Flying-types you'd logically bring into that fight, for instance. In Reborn, there's no such thing as the perfect matchup. Almost every Pokemon in a major battle will have something that has the advantage against you as well.
  13. Since Kirlia is part Fairy-type now, it's actually weak to poison. Keep that in mind.
  14. Emolga should be near the big tree south of Jasper's Pokemon Center. I think it's easier to catch it at night since it'll be sleeping. At any other time, it may be flying around. I'm not sure. In any case, it's right around the corner and it's a decent powerhouse for this point in the game.
  15. Fact: Shelly is the most adorable character and you have no heart if you don't just wanna give her a big hug. I didn't even mind when she kept kicking my ass the first time around--she was that cute!

      Expected that from Kyra.

      Didn't expect that from Maus

      Magus

Uhhh I really need my G back, how can I stop Lavos if I'm not Magus.

  16. If you didn't get it yet, find the Emolga in Jasper Ward. You may have to grind it up a level or two, but it comes at a respectable level and knows decent Thunder-type moves to nail that Crobat right in its bat-crotch. imo Manectric isn't that good at this point in the game since it the moves it currently has don't take advantage of that high sp.atk stat. You may wanna keep Emolga around since it learns Acrobatics at level 30 (i.e. very soon) and it'll come in handy for the Bug-type gym coming up. I also recommend getting a Phanpy in the nearby grass. Ground is super effective against Poison-types and it's a handy Pokemon to keep around afterward. You can try what I did and evolve it into Donphan, give it Common Candies to reduce its level to 18, and grind it back up from there. It learns Magnitude at level 19 (impossible to get otherwise since Phanpy evolves at level 25) and it's a very powerful move especially for this point in the game. It's next great Ground-type move, Earthquake, doesn't come until level 46... It seems like a lot of work now, but it'll pay off in the long term.
  17. Well, I figured a title with "Spoils the Game" in it might clue readers in that it might contain a spoiler or two, like But honestly, aside from Corey, I didn't catch any of that until my second playthrough when I knew everything that happened, and I was all "Oh snap!" I hadn't understood the scenes in question the first time I saw them, let alone remember them when the prediction came true. All this was completely retrospective, having seen the bigger picture. Oh yeah, I forgot about the Rotom one. But I don't remember if it actually showed anything--I think it was just Rotom pulling a The Ring and popping from the screen. There's no guarantee the Amaria and Lin ones will happen, but considering what happened to Corey and Kiki, I'm leaning towards Shade knowing what he's talking about.
  18. How much EV training would it take to boost a Spiritomb's speed to a less embarrassing level?

Vinny, you can't steal items in Reborn. Or Black/White. Or X/Y.

      Vinny

      That makes no sense

You can steal it for the duration of the battle, but it doesn't go into your inventory.

  19. A recent status update questioning the *cough* scenes in Shade's gym inspired me to take a peek through the game's data files, and I can confirm that, yes, Shade's creepy ass computer monitors show some serious foreshadowing. At first I wasn't sure whether the scenes were retrospective or if they predicted the future, but they do both. The monitors show Corey falling off the bridge, but it also Kiki's death via RAWRchomp. Then there's Titiana doing... something to Amaria (looks like she punched her off a building or something), and Lin's death via dismemberment. Ouch. This brings up some speculation on what will happen soon. If I recall, Amaria's team was in the 70s, and beating Luna raised the level cap to that point. I can imagine Amaria will be the next leader to face, or the one after--Hardy mentioned his gym was at Agate City, and once Ep 12 comes out, it's where we'll be going next. In any case, we'll probably be meeting up with Amaria soon, and Shade says it won't be pretty. As for Titiana, it was mentioned early on Florinia's Flobot-ness had something to do with her. What Titiana will later do to Amaria sheds some light on what that incident could have been. This also brings up interesting questions on who/what Shade is and his purpose. Why's he showing you that stuff? To creep you out? Probably; he's creepy in general. But he functions as something of a grim reaper, and Anna mentions he's nice. Him opening the Railnet gate could've been pushing his own mysterious agenda forward, but Anna has also been shown to see things no one else can (the player's "glowiness," the friendship strings on Shelly, etc), so we might have to take her word on it. Did Shade show you all that because he expects the protagonist to stop a tragedy? Is he a hero pulling some strings from the (har har) shadows? Was Kiki and Corey dying some sort of master plan of his necessary to lead to a happy ending? Or is it just his job as a mysterious entity? Who knows? But at least we got a badge from him.
  20. I never knew there was some dude needing rescuing in the Underground Railnet. Maybe he'll give me a sticker for saving him (if I can find the guy).

Altruism is cool mang, except when you get stabbed in the back, hope it doesn't happen to you tho.

  21. I'm saying no to both. I watched a video on why Charizard wasn't Fire/Dragon, and it explained with that type combo, he'd be just about unstoppable (there's probably a reason they saved it for his Mega Evolution). As for the Fakemon, Reborn's been good in playing exactly like a real Pokemon game. Introducing Fakemon would take us out of the experience imo.
  22. To get Cut, all you had to do was talk to a guard. I guess Strength is more special.

THey hate anything and everything after Gen 1, and find stupid reasons for it. I mean I get Gen 1 Started it all, but still not usre how they are losing their edage or not creative with the designs anymore lol.

The ONLY logical argument from them I've seen is that the old sprite poses had more character to them. But poses with more personality is not enough to offset how utterly broken the old mechanics were, and how much of the same design criticisms leveled at the later generations, can be leveled at their own precious 150.

  24. I don't know if you've noticed, but around 1/3 of the game was spent hunting for a CD and being very sidetracked. -All right, we bailed out Heather from Dr. Pikachu, now let's GTFO! -Nope. Underground Railnet's locked. Oooh I know a nice ghost who can open it. -y u do dis shade -Oh snap! Dr. Pikachu and Team Space are taking my buddies! Wait. Cain's okay! And he wrecked the hallway! Cool? -[player], we need the Strength HM to move stuff. My sensei Kiki has it. Go catch up to Cain! Oh, uh, careful on the beach. I think it crashes sometimes. -I got this coveeeered~ kthxbai. btw don't try crossing this lake or you'll melt. -Oh hi! Sorry to interrupt your important quest for a CD but Team Space is doing stuff. Wanna help? -Hang in there, Ditto. You will be my sex slave one day. -So you stopped the pollution. Big deal, we're Team Space, wrecking shit is what we do kthxbai. -To Apophyll!!! -Oooh sorry, I only give out Strength to graduating students, but tell you what. Climb up the volcano and deal with lava and challenge who you see up there and maybe I'll consider you. And you don't need to take a single class! -Rave n' lava. -Most people meditate under a waterfall, but I'm too cool for that. -Oh, you beat Cal. Cool beans. Fine, I'll challenge you. -How's it feel to beat up a sick person, asshole?! Ugh, like, go find Cain or something. He never came (sadly, that's what she said). I totally promise you'll get your HM and badge. -I thought mushrooms that attacked you was Mario's deal. -We're gonna blow the shit outta the volcano and you can't stop us! -No, you stopped us! Well we're gonna blow the shit outta the volcano, anyway! -[player], they're gonna blow the shit outta the volcano and only you can stop them! -cal y u do dis -RAWRchomp, bitches! -Nooo Kiki! You died before giving me my hard-earned badge! It's Corey all over again! -Thanks for making sure the volcano didn't get its shit blown. Here's the badge and Strength HM. -GOD FINALLY -... 'cept the badge is worthless now so I guess you gotta try the Poison-type leader. ... Okay, technically I kept my promise. Please don't glare at me. I'll stay here and never bug you again. -Ooh challenging my sis? One more battle 'cause I can. -Eww gross eww gross eww gross eww--hey, Black Sludge! That's totally something to pick up. -Being a gym leader is as fun as listening to the green one bitch. -Beating you was as fun as listening to the green one bitch. ARCEUS FINALLY! I HAVE WHAT I CAME FOR! THE HM AND THE BADGE TO USE IT!!! -[Pokemon] used Strength (like a boss!) -Oh, another door's locked. -die plz Let me remind you that the main driving force for all of the above, was collecting a CD and the requirement to use it. It's like fate was conspiring to distract you.
  25. If you're talking about Scraggy and/or Pancham, I'm afraid you can't get them that early anymore in Ep 11. Options for Fighting-types are limited early on, unfortunately.
