  1. You sure? I've been around the slums a lot and I don't recall ever seeing a Pancham outside the Pancham Playground, which you can only get the key to after getting Rock Smash, which is after Lapis Ward.
  2. I'm actually allowing the use of non Dark-types if their evolutions eventually gain the Dark-type, so I get to use Froakie, Skorupi, etc. Unfortunately, I think you can only get Pancham when you're able to get Scraggy, and both of them are past Florinia. In general, it seems the only way I can get past her at the moment is to spam status lowering attacks and hope for good hax on my part.
  3. It occured to me there won't be a new Dark-type until Lapis Ward. That means my Mightyenas are staying with me until Corey, meaning... the Chatot...

Being honest: I only beat that Chatot because Frogadier was faster than it and narrowly finished it off. And Vs. ZEL and Taka was worse- super long stall battle.

      Smile, Chatot loves you! <3

  4. Does anyone have any advice for a team of four Mightyenas, a Protean Frogadier, and a Stunky? Because in my Dark monotype challenge I don't have many useful options. *glares at Pin Missle*
  5. Your Monferno should be able to do most of the heavy lifting. I managed to get past Florinia without Toxic Spikes on my second playthrough, since she (mercifully) got nerfed a bit. The Grimer can help as backup. I wouldn't recommend using a Mightyena for this fight. *Is ignoring how her Dark monotype run is making her use nothing but Mightyenas against Florinia.*
  6. I think it's a glitch that lets you see an egg's type before it hatches.
  7. The Fern battle before Florinia has always been the hardest imo, and that was with Pokemon with type advantages. My Mightyenas aren't cutting it, it seems.

Problem is Stunky can't survive more than one of Servine's attacks, so I can only get in one Screech. And I honestly did consider the Mega Gyarados loophole, but Mega Evolutions aren't implemented yet. XD

Phew, I managed to beat him after abusing stat up/down moves and having luck on my side. Time for Flobot. ):

I'd say you can only use Gyrados if you mega immediately. But that's just me

  8. Evolve that Kirlia ASAP because it's deadweight until it's a Gardevoir. When you get to Jasper Ward, find the Emolga. It'll be outclassed later, but it comes at a respectable level and has moves that'll come in handy. When you finish Jasper Ward and Beryl Ward, I recommend a Donphan since it's an overall durable Pokemon, and its typing will come in handy for major battles in the future, including the next two gym leaders. If you decide to get one, evolve a Phanpy and give it Common Candies until it's level 18, then level it up from there. It learns Magnitude at level 19, but only as a Donphan--and Phanpy evolves in its 20's, hence the Common Candies.
  9. You can pin the thread if you specifically highlight that the only estimation for Ep 12 is "sometime before June," and if not then it'll come when it comes, so stop asking. Considering the amount of work Ame already puts into the game, I don't think she needs additional pressure from people too impatient to wait.
  10. I have three different save files and I chose three different starters for three different reasons. 1st game: Piplup, when I was new to Reborn and didn't realize I wouldn't be starved for Water-types in general. I thought Empoleon would make a good tank (it was a beefgate during my Platinum game), but I found myself rarely putting it in a front line role in Reborn. It seemed like it was always either its Water-typing or Steel-typing that made it unsuited for a lot of major battles--Water meant he couldn't fight against Julia, Florinia, Shelly, and Dr. Connal; Steel meant he couldn't fight against Kiki; and other Pokemon got the job done better during battles where it didn't have the advantage or disadvantage. Literally, the only two gym battles I used it in was against Aya and Cal, and even then, with Aya it was mainly a defensive role while Gardevoir wailed on them, and with Cal, he was in danger because of all the Grass-, Fighting-, and Electric-types his team had. I honestly regret this choice. 2nd game: Torchic, and holy hell this was the better choice. On my first playthrough I upgraded from Ep 10 to 11 around the time I faced Noel, so when I beat my first game, I started a new game wanting to get the full Ep 11 experience since many things changed. Blaziken's typing and stat distribution means it was able to wear multiple hats, and it took an active role in most of my gym battles (I have Blaziken to thank for getting me past Noel after how much frustration). 3rd game: Froakie, though I was sorta strong-armed into this one since I'm doing a Dark-type mono challenge. I'm not far into the game yet so I can't make a proper assessment, but I can predict its Protean ability means Greninja will be both a help and a risk.
  11. You totally lose money if you lose to the Garchomp. You'll need Cut for the Byxbyxs;agh Wasteland, but after that, you'll only need to bring HM slaves when you're going to specific areas.
  12. Haha, no. You beat up one or the other and you reap different rewards depending on who your victim is. I personally say join Magma because like the others said, you can get the Pokemon Aqua gang gives later on--Chinchou and Houndour are currently one-time events.
  13. Aaaaugh the only decent Dark-type in the beginning is Mightyena. Florinia's gonna be a bitch to fight.

  14. Wheeee first gym beaten in Dark monotype challenge.

My Mightyena managed to sweep her team, but it seems like I'll be sticking with my current Pokes for a while since other Dark-types don't come until much later.

  15. Thinking of doing a Dark monotype challenge. Any tips that will make the journey less painful?

You can use Pokemon that evolve into Dark types or not, all depends on your personal preference (I personally used Frogadier and Larvitar as my main Pokemon in my Y Dark mono)

Though if you're doing that you probubbly shouldn't use anything that stops being a Dark-type upon evolution (nothing comes to mind though)

  16. I wondered a similar thing, particularly in regards to the raid at the Tanzan Cove house, but quote Ame: So yeah, power doesn't necessarily equal ability to use it. Bummer.
  17. It's pretty sad when shit-slinging is treated as the order of the day on the internet. When you give shit you get shit, and apparently that's okay. I don't know anything of Secundum because I've never gone on PO, but reading through this (particularly Rainbow Dash's little excerpt of what to expect), it might be good that I haven't.
  18. Actually, no, not Starly: Pokemon you are: Trubbish Nature: Bashful Ability: Stench Shiny?: No Nickname: None YES
  19. Winter because winter is the superiorist season.
  20. I'm a Juggler now. Apparently, I now juggle balls. Mmhmm.

  21. That's an interesting theory. If it's true, then Salamence would probably be listening to her out of a sense of loyalty to the family--it's possible she relies on Salamence's raw strength over her skill as a trainer (since we don't really see her in action, it's hard to determine).
  22. That's true, but the difference between Heather and your average Pokeymans protagonist is that Heather actually acts like she's ten, impulsiveness and emotional reactions and all. There's also how Reborn is much more grounded in reality than canon, so it's a little harder for me to invoke a Willing Suspension of Disbelief when it comes to age (not much harder, just a little). Besides, even the canon protagonists had to work and journey to get where they are; I'm not sure when/how the orphanage crew put in the effort for their positions unless they already had them, except for Saphira, who probably managed to finish training up her team after leaving.
  23. I actually wonder how any of them managed to become gym leaders to begin with. I sorta excuse Saphira since she left earlier than the others, but the orphanage took away their Pokemon. How did they train/practice any of their team during their stay? Saphira, Laura, and Charlotte seem to have been there since they were little, and it was stated that during the fire at their house, Charlotte was playing with a Vulpix (even though she uses a Ninetails). I don't know when Anna and Noel came there, but unless they were freakishly skilled to begin with, they wouldn't have had any time to train, either. Also somewhat unrelated is Heather, who is probably younger than any of them and is able to handle a Salamence... I guess Pokemon mastery in Reborn starts from the womb.
  24. Got recommended Pokemon Omicron/Zeta. It's boring already. Reborn totally spoiled me...

A while back I had the realization that, having played Reborn, it'd be difficult to go back to the official games unless I'm doing a challenge... god damn it, Ame. Even when she does a good job, it's STILL a matter of making sure we suffer!

I like the idea of HM items a lot. But yeah, everything is easy once you've played Reborn
