  7. ROBOTIC NIPPLES *Still ded*

  8. Followed shortly by a storm of elephants
  9. So, the only real issue I see with this is the huge time delays it would cause. And from experience, taking too long between posts absolutely kills some people's interest
  10. I'm good. Was gonna post again but getting here long enough to do sois proving to be a pain
  11. *Stalks thread obsessively*

  12. So here's some half-finished info-ness. Obviously this is still WIP but it should be enough for an interest check. Feel free to ask questions so I'm forced to come up with answers Setting: An old mansion in the Midwest refurbished to serve as a facility for the Miracle Initiative’s most extreme cases. Because of the patients it serves, it is almost completely self-sufficient and cut off from the outside world; what few supplies it needs are shipped in once a month Plot: A group of teenage writers are brought together from around the world to teach a mental patient about human emotions. The writers must then deal with the psychological ordeal of being trapped away from the rest of humanity while trying to train an antisocial madman to feel empathy The Miracle Initiative: A charity dedicated to helping children with special needs integrate into society. The Miracle Initiative helps hundreds of children around the world yearly. The organization sometimes takes on “impossible” cases—children considered too separate from societal norms to ever become a part of society Staff: Kids can’t be expected to care for themselves entirely, so there is a small staff to help them. The staff is expected to mostly stay out of the way and is not supposed to give advice The Gardener: A kind, elderly man who is clearly concerned about how dangerous the patient could be. He’s not keen on talking because he fears he’ll end up breaking the rules, so he hides out in the garden. Chances are he’d break the rules and give you advice if you asked. The librarian refers to him as Father, although it’s unclear whether this is a title or if they are actually related The Cook: The gardener’s polar opposite, the cook is a prideful young man with a short temper. He’s quite boisterous and will happily talk to any who visit his kitchen, so long as they don’t try to ask for advice about the patient, or worse, criticize his cooking The Maid: A quiet and beautiful girl who works hard at her job. The maid is so lacking in presence that she almost seems like a ghost at times, it’s pretty much impossible to get in touch with her without asking the librarian to summon her. At least she keeps your clothes clean, maybe one day she’ll respond to the love notes you keep leaving on your bed for her... The Librarian: The woman in charge of the mansion, she is stern and bossy. She wants to keep things running smoothly and is the one who will clean things up if they don’t. She is trained in armed and unarmed combat. Should the patient try anything, the chances of her going down before him are minimal. Her room has an emergency landline in it, just in case things go awry. She’s not actually very good at the librarian part of her job, so don’t expect much help finding books—assuming she’s in the library at all
  13. Well, the choices I gave cover "Won't join, don't like" "Won't join, don't dislike" "Will join, do like" "Will join, don't like" I don't really see any need to add a, "Won't join don't like but sorta like" option
  14. It's the second one. I was just restating it with different wording
  15. I mean, there is an option that says "it's not a bad idea but I personally don't like it" "Understandable. I enjoy writing essays for homework, but I know that many people do not. One of my concerns with this idea was that people would relate "essay" to "homework" and it would turn them off from the RP as a whole" And I don't actually have any examples, sorry. I like essays but they do take time, so I haven't written mine yet >_< I want to make sure this is the format I'll be using before I spend the time to put it together. I don't mind putting in the extra effort, but if I end up using the standard format then it's completely wasted See, all of these issues apply to character sheets as well so I honestly fail to see your point here. I have considered the fact that an essay is a bit harder to write, but if someone is actually as new as you suggest, they would write just as badly with both formats. If I were to use this system in an RP where I was expecting newbies to join up, I would treat a bad essay exactly the same as I would a bad character sheet and try to help them improve it "They're used quite commonly across Reborn's RP forum and are very useful for helping establish a simple format that all players can easily look through and learn specific information about the characters" Indeed they are, which is probably the biggest upside to them As for the prewriting bit, I hadn't thought of that. I don't do anything like that when writing essays so it didn't really cross my mind Honestly though, you come off sounding very entitled here (referring to the hassle bit). Keep in mind that while RPs are for both the player and host's enjoyment, the host is not required to try to please every possible player. Obviously I don't want to turn too many people away with this, thus why I have this thread to gauge how well accepted it would be, but I've already said that if someone isn't willing to put in the effort needed to join an RP I wouldn't really want them there anyways
  16. Of course not. Making it universal would be silly It's just something I want to try because it seems interesting and fits thematically with the RP idea I have
  17. Well, making the applications like this wasn't about "checks." As you said, I can perform the checks I need to without this. Although I confess the RP I currently have in mind would be "elitest" as it were, the intent of this format is not to be exclusionary. There's no reason why I would have to be any more strict with this format than any other. The intent is to make the character construction more fluid and immersive. Instead of just filling out a checklist the writer is asked to describe their character in a format that requires them to express their writing style "Essay" does not mean ten paragraphs gloriously composed by a master novelist. "Essay" means three to five paragraphs of highschool level writing that gets the writier's ideas across in an understandable manner
  18. I don't see how this post is necessary at all. It mostly just sounds like you're trying to start something If you don't like the game you really don't have to play it, insinuating that you must play to stay friends with people is silly
  19. As an active writer I doubt you'd have to force me to just write a fanfiction. In fact I'm currently working on an SAO fanfic (well, technically, it's unrelated to the canon but uses the material) Now if you were trying to force me to write a bad fanfic, it would probably be related to MLP or Homestuck, since those fandoms are super easy to troll around with.
