Understandable. I enjoy writing essays for homework, but I know that many people do not. One of my concerns with this idea was that people would relate "essay" to "homework" and it would turn them off from the RP as a whole Although if someone's unwilling to do something to join an RP because it takes too much effort, I wouldn't want them to join anyways. A lack of effort might cause it to flop on its face, which in turns wastes my effort and the efforts of the other members

So, like, I should clarify before I start that while there is an RP in mind for this, I wanted to check how people felt about a specific concept first. What I'm about to talk about is sort of, thematically related to the RP I want to use it for. Although it could be applied to others as well NEways, I'm sure you know about character sheets. The thingamadoohickies you fill out when you wantr tyo join an RP. They're used quite commonly across Reborn's RP forum and are very useful for helping establish a simple format that all players can easily look through and learn specific information about the characters Another common format for entering a roleplay is an introductory ppost. I haven't seen any RPs around here using them so I don't expect everyone to understand what they are. In short, you write up a post that introduces your character into the story and make sure to describe all important details about them in it Well, I recently thought of a third idea (I'd say invented but I doubt I'm the first to come up with this even though I've never seen it before). Descriptive essays. Having prospective roleplayers write essays to describe their characters and the role they intend to play in the story. This format would be focused on describing the character fluidly, much like the introductory post I've already thought of a lot of pros and cons, but I don't think I'll list them here quite yet (I'm sure most of what I've thought of is pretty obvious anyways). I'd like to hear your opinions untainted by mine, at least at first

Katsuo frowned slightly at Dave's response. Of course he didn't have a cannon, Katsuo had been attempting to break the ice with a joke, but that had clearly gone over the deadbeat's head. But despite the obvious disdain in the man's voice, he had given Katsuo a full rundown of his abilities. Because of this, Katsuo shoved the anger welling up inside him back down and made one more attempt to be amicable. "Well, if you're pure defense, I don't think we can pit you one-on-one against any of their mages..." He mused aloud. Brunel seemed set on facing Fukui, but Katsuo wasn't sure that would work out in this scenario. "I have a better idea." He said, mostly to Leivinia, "Since Dave can't function well one on one, we need to find a way to work around that. So I suggest we let Fukui be and rely on Dave's shielding to protect us from his attacks. Then you and I can focus on single combat against the other two."

So, basically a buffed Nero in a fancy dress to make people spend monies? Do want

Katsuo walked over to his newly awakened ally. "It's the three of us together against the other three." He said, struggling to keep his voice level, "So, what can you do? My focus is on mobility and battering people into submission. Although my defense is weak, so I'll be in a pinch against a mobile enemy with significantly more range." This last sentence was accompanied by a small nod towards Leivinia; thanks for her offering to counter the enemy's aerial bombardment mage. "Unless that gauntlet of yours is secretly housing a cannon, we've got no bombardment of our own. But due to the battlefield being a cityscape, I do have an excess of mobility and can attempt to serve a similar purpose. I recommend that I be matched against the least mobile of the enemy so that I can look for openings to quickly move and assist you both with your fights." Gwaedu added her own voice to the conversation, "Big Brother can only make a move if mage Fukui is occupied. Please try your best Mrs. Brunel." (OOC: In case I didn't mention already, Gwaedu's voice is English)
