There wasn't much left stopping their small band from freeing the jailhouse. Rosalvya didn't quite have the heart to go after their healer, as he was a non-combatant. She realized that this was a foolish sentiment, as often times there was no room for pity on the battlefield. But just this once, she decided to turn a blind eye to the fleeing priest. Her allies could do the deed instead. Rosalvya moved behind the archer, attacking him instead. This way, his escape route was cut off. Move to G12 and attack Archer 1

The enemy troops were more aggressive than Rosalvya had imagined, as she watched them push past the woods she was hiding in. Equis was starting to grow weary, and she could see the archer began to focus Equis into their line of sight. It was foolish to think that Mercenary had run straight past her, leaving the back line completely unexposed. Rosalvya dashed out of the woods, her eyes only on her target. "You're mine." Move to H14 and attack Archer 2

What constitutes a game for "replayability?"
Stalkerkain replied to Stalkerkain's topic in Gaming General
Polished and balanced game mechanics aren't a necessity either, as one could enjoy being overpowered (again, not saying you're wrong, but to each their own). Can you call it replayability, if it never ended in the first place? I think we're going somewhere different when we talk about multiplayer and MMORPGs. The "replayable" part of my definition (some may argue otherwise, but that's entirely fine) is playing a designated amount of content for another time. From what I've hearing here is that "multiplayer" counts as replayability, despite each match being different. You're not exactly replaying the same matches, in the same manner, in the same structure.procedure. Sure, you're using the same mechanics, but the outcome is different every time. You may be thinking to yourself at this point: "-But wait Kain, you're full of shit! Not all games have one outcome/play out the same!" Well, maybe. But that's another question to be raised! Where do we draw the line? Perhaps it lies within the journey to the end, as many of you have pointed out. Multiplayer can be seen as a journey to the end as well, just in smaller narratives (five summoners fight to destroy the nexus, two teams fight until only one is left). In MMORPGS, do you go back to the very beginning, and start from level 1? (many do, some think one maxed character is enough). It could be replayable in that you're fighting the same boss/monsters because they're fun. Story games may not have the same outcome, because maybe the opponents encountered, or a specific battle played out differently. And here we are! The place of no definitive answer. (And I don't think anyone mentioned nostalgia, just merely for the sake of playing some familiar and doesn't require too much thinking because you know it all. Or maybe it was just obvious).- 28 replies

With the countless number of games out there, some of them have made it into our personal halls of fame. But there are certainly some games that stand out more than others, and games that you'd definitely play more than once. We recommend so many games to other people, but how many of them would we actually just sit down and play through again? Is it the challenge? The journey, despite knowing all the plot points and twists? The gameplay? Chrono Trigger and SMT: Devil Survivor come to mind as games that I've played through more than once. But something like Fire Emblem: Awakening which I have ~80 hours on, I may never consider doing another playthrough (at least for the present). What are some games, and their aspects that make a game "replayable"?

Just out of curiosity, are we supposed to be acquainted with one another? I've noticed that a lot of us aren't using names, whereas Rosalvya's screaming out names left and right (mainly because I don't like referring to people as "hey you" or "that mage there"). Maybe our boss thought it was a good idea to put a bunch of strangers together and send us out into the battlefield? Would make Rosalvya seem to have a great deal of faith in her stranger-allies.

There's random items lying everywhere in Reborn. Just look for conspicuous places, like an out of place rock, or a bush.If you trust your instincts and spam enter, chances are you'll get something. If not, there goes five seconds of your life. You'll get an itemfinder after the 7th gym so that'll make finding these hidden objects easier.

All planned -I mean calculated yay vantage. I totally forgot about having an active skill. But in my second turn of Turn 2 I don't think I would have used it anyway, given that I was in range to attack. Just happens that RNG made me miss my first strike. Anywho! Time for Rosalvya to get into position. Edit: Actually, can I move, use an item, and then activate Leaf On The Wind? Or would using the item just automatically end my phase?

Blood streamed down Rosalvya's side, as she winced in pain. She was glad that she had reliable allies on her side. Had she been alone, she may have met her end there and then. Her body felt heavy, and she could only watch as another enemy soldier advanced towards Adriaen. Luka had crossed the field, and had begun dancing. Her wounds still ached, but she felt like she could go further. "One... more..." Rosalvya said with exasperated gasps. She needed to make sure that the soldier never reached Adriaen, for there wouldn't be any healing for her if Adriaen were to fall. Before she could move and race towards the enemy soldier, she felt a soothing light bathe over her. The pain was beginning to dull, and energy returned to her body. She looked to see Adriaen casting a healing spell. "Thank you!" she replied. Reinvigorated, Rosalvya moved to regroup with her allies. Move to M13 and attack Soldier 2.

"He walked right into us, Meredith," Rosalvya smirked. "Let's take him out before their healer gets any closer." The wound at her side ached, but she couldn't let this Mercenary get any closer to their back line. "Please give me your support, Adriaen, Terin, and Meredith!" Rosalvya shouted. Attack Mercenary 1

Rosalvya let out a small sigh, as she had hoped that her allies would dispatch the lone guard a little more quietly. But not everything is ideal in the battlefield. "No matter," she thought to herself. She may as well get moving herself. She eyed the lone mercenary in the distance, and raced past Meredith. "Fortune favors the fearless," said Rosalvya. "Hey! You useless lout!" she jeered. "Is standing around all you're good for?" Moves to P11

The Houndour reward from the Magma Gang is later on, and I spent 30 minutes trying to find one in Magma's alley.

Oh boy, don't remember the last time I've played (maybe 6 months ago?). Think I got up to rank 8 (or whatever the system is, I could craft all the weapons basically). I mained Frost Prime, and had Vauban, Mesa, and Excalibur as sides. Only reason why I quit was because once Mesa came out, I literally didn't have to do anything. Hold down her ultimate and read a book, I suppose. Excalibur was the same. I mained a Paris Prime, because I wanted the game to be a testament of my aiming skill, not how much I could carpetbomb an area with a Boar Prime + Mirage (or whatever ridiculous thing weapon my friend used). Punch-through is the most hilarious mechanic in the game, I love it. Of course, being the hypocrite that I am, I caved and got a Synapse and a Soma and more hilarity ensued, as well as discovering that Thunderbolt made my arrows explosive. Secondary weapon had to be the Vaykor Marelok. Reminds me of those old-west revolvers, and required me to have precision aiming. Melee was the Dragon Nikanas because katana. Gameplay was some of the best I've ever seen for it's genre, and the only reason why I quit was because of the lack of mission/story content. This talk of Warframe is tempting me to check back in. I have like, 3 primed point blanks saved up that I could probably net me some platinum so maaaaaaybe. Especially I hear there's an archer-specific frame? Oooooh.....
