"Don't.. Don't let it get to you, Hoshiko," said Rosalvya, as she tried to reassure her. If she were to argue every single time someone brought up the subject of the Goddes, she would certainly burn herself out. Rosalvya didn't hear any signs of life coming from the burning village, so either they had already evacuated or they had burned alive. They would have to wait until the fires dissipated until they could further inspect the houses. "I was about to say this seemed like the work of bandits, but the fact that Serene had just... set that house on fire seems to be that she was the cause. I'll join you two as well." Given their pyromaniac acquaintance's actions, was she a friend or a foe?

[Interest Check] Black Moon Penitentiary

- What's a skeleton? - Unless you have some particular alien race you want to highlight, then it's probably not necessary. The players most likely will give details on their own race should they choose to do so, which you can add to your OOC. - Why did you choose black text color of all colors my eyeeeeeeeeeeeees Now for questions! - Although you said this won't be a serious RP, what exactly, will we the players be doing in your RP? Are we just living our lives out as inmates? Are we trying to plan an intergalactic breakout for our freedom? - Even as a test RP, how many players are looking to include in your RP?- 24 replies

"I drifted from town to town, collecting whatever information I could. My travels were lonely, with nothing but my sword to keep me company," said Rosalvya, as her fingers traced over the scabbard, noting the nicks and scratches. It was strange to think that a young girl like her was able to get her hands on a blade, let alone use one. She had received it from her savior; well, "received" was a strong word. No matter how well she tried to keep it maintained, it couldn't be helped that the sword was beginning to show signs of wear. It was only a matter of time before she'd have to replace it. "Travelling alone during war times isn't safe. I've had to fend off bandits on more than one occasion." Not wanting to ramble, she decided to ask Ecquis a question instead. "Correct me if I'm wrong, but you don't seem to speak of your journey as voluntary. Why would that be?"

[Interest Check] Lightgivers
Stalkerkain replied to anethia's topic in Unofficial Official RP Club's General
How involved are the Coerators? How come they aren't helping with the situation in the south? Does being granted Lumen from a particular species matter? (E.g., my tutor Lightgiver received their Lumen from Maia, and thus has her unique traits?) Why us twelve (or however many people you get)? Are we the "Chosen Ones"? How sentient are they monsters, that they pose a threat? Beep? -
"When your village ends up being burned to the ground, there's not much left to stay around for," said Rosalvya impassively. It had happened so long ago that she had no trouble talking about it liberally. "A good number of people in my village died there. I could have gone with the other survivors, but that would have led nowhere. Those that were left were simply just the elderly and young children, as the war had drafted the able bodies already. The village was starving because of the war, and it would be impossible to travel far with the people our little group consisted of. So I decided to leave with my own goal in mind."

"As Feri, as I believe his name was, had said, Caelum has a large army suitable for fighting Dragao's numbers," said Rosalvya. "Feri and Meredith have pointed out that enlisting their help comes with its own hazards, but the amount of aid they can provide us can be the determining factor in overthrowing Dragao. Although they may not be able to fight as well as on their home terrain, we can make up for that by employing our own knowledge of Dragao's geography. By now, I'd expect that they've had plenty of experience with fighting Dragao, which will also help us." The possibility of Caelum turning on them still bothered her, even though Saffron seemed confident enough in her persuasion skills. None of them seemed to know the temperament of Caelum's ruler, making their chances appear like a shot in the dark. Yukihana on the other hand, seemed too divisive to rally under Saffron, even with Hoshiko's clan's support. There were just too many unknowns to factor in, but it was too early to lose hope. "And no, I've never been to Caelum," she shook her head. "I've spent most of my life wandering Dragao."

With digital distribution platforms like Steam and Humble Bundle, many games have moved to the digital side of things, being able to purchase them from the comfort of our own homes. Storage isn't an issue either, as games are just saved in your library and are easily accessible. I have no issue with Steam, having purchased many games there, and I think it's a wonderful thing. But oddly enough, for my consoles (Nintendo being my primary one, 3DS and Wii U) I will always buy the games in their physical form. It'd be way easier for me to just buy the games digitally instead of going to the store, but there's something about slotting that 3DS cartridge or inserting a CD into my Wii U that feels natural. Also I get to display their boxes on my desk and have them sit there as a constant reminder that I really should get into them. My question here is, which form do you tend to lean towards (if either) when buying games?

Rosalvya's next item of concern regarded the next obstacle in their journey. She couldn't believe she didn't verify this earlier. If Saffron were to lead them into Caelum, she had better have a plan to go with it. "Saffron," she said, ignoring her title completely. Heir or not, her status was completely irrelevant now that she had been ousted from the kingdom. "What are you plans regarding negotiations? With Dragao being the aggressor, I'd like to know how you're going to convince them to lend their aid to us after all that's happened. On top of that, what's to stop them from turning on us once we've completed our objective?" Rosalvya was worried about what their journey ultimately led up to, and the consequences that followed. Should Caelum turn on them, the Misguided Children would not even remotely be a force to fight against an entire kingdom.
-
"Is that so," Rosalvya said coldly, as she winded back the sword and swung. A flash of steel passed by, a little too quickly for the untrained eye to see, followed by a gentle breeze to accompany her swing. In another fluid motion, she sheathed the sword given to her and belted it at her waist. One might have thought Rosalvya had actually cut Meredith, but she had only swung at the air in front of her. "To me, The Undying does not stand before me any longer. I accept your determination, and you, as Meredith. One of my allies." With nothing more to say to Meredith, Rosalvya nodded in acknowledgement, and extended her hand in a welcoming gesture.
-
Rosalvya smiled a little at Klaren's antics. Given the somber revelation, she was glad there were some in her band who managed to retain some cheer. However, her smile soon disappeared, as she directed her attention back to Meredith. She was glad to hear this from Meredith. Being haunted by one's past only led to stagnation and regret. Her next actions would only be a formality. "Then one last question for you. Answer me, Meredith. Who are you?" Rosalvya asked. Such a vague question was bound to lead to confusion, but Rosalvya remained serious. "Are you still Meredith The Undying, former soldier of Dragao? If so, then I have no qualms about striking you down here. I do not know, nor care for what you've done in the past, but what I do what to know now, is where your loyalties lie," she said, placing her hand over her sword. Rosalvya hoped Meredith wouldn't fight back. She had no idea if she had a winning chance against a veteran soldier. "Or are you Meredith of the Misguided Children, one who seeks to free Dragao?"
-
"Meredith, is there something you have to tell us?" Rosalvya asked bluntly. There was always something bothering her, and Rosalvya didn't know what it was. She didn't know if there was a touchy subject that Meredith was uncomfortable with, but this was an important decision, with lives on the line. There was little time for hesitation. "Take no offense in this, but is there perhaps something you're hiding from us? You seem to be hesitant, or more directly, avoiding Caelum for reasons other than the ones you've given. If there is a more specific reason as to why you want to go to Yukihana over Caelum, then I would be glad to listen and change my decision. But we won't know unless you tell us. And if you don't want to tell us, then that is fine too. We will default with the majority then, as you've stated." Rosalvya felt that there was no wrong choice in either. But she felt having unity was a wiser choice than ignoring the minority. "I mean no offense to Hoshiko either, as I'm sure her clan is full of skilled warriors who may help greatly," Rosalvya said with care. "But Caelum may be able to lend an army, and that may be more useful in our offense against Dragao than the few that number in Hoshiko's clan."
-
Rosalvya shivered at the mention of going to Yukihana. She had grown up near the border of Dragao and Yukihana, but she wanted to avoid heading North if possible. Her reason was nothing other than the fact that she disliked the cold. Growing up so close to Yukihana, one would think that she would be used to the cold. But many nights of the merciless cold had kept her awake as a child, creating nothing but bad memories. "Yes... nothing but bad memories," she murmured to herself. The cold also meant that she moved and reacted slower. And slow reactions meant death. If the others knew of her reasons, they'd think of her as petty and childish. But it was a secret that the others didn't have to know. She couldn't always keep avoiding her hometown, or at least what was left of it. But that day didn't have to be today. "Caelum," Rosalvya said with indifference, pretending as if neither choice mattered to her.

[Help] Final Fantasy: Last Hope
Stalkerkain replied to Anthony810's topic in Unofficial Official RP Club's General
Summed up short and sweet. Many of us can be here to help you, but you're the one with the story to tell. I'm glad you answered a few of my questions, as you understanding how your own world works is the most important. My main gripe is that your scope is too big. Start placing restrictions on what you can or cannot do. Try to eliminate vagueness wherever possible, as much as possible. For instance, This is a small nitpick, but no "I guesses". Give me a firm number. You can always change it later to suit our progression. You haven't told me anything about how battles are going to resolve or work. What if I'm some legendary assassin, unparalleled in physical combat? Then, I randomly "determined" that I out speed all of the remnants and backstab them in one hit. Story's over, the end. Are you okay with that? Restrictions. This is an example of a resource you can give your players, to get accustomed to the classes available, and what is possible. Quests are a novel idea, but may take far too long to execute, drawing away from the story you want to tell. Again, "I guess" is not a very convincing statement. As Dobby pointed out, exploring a whole world is messy. I wouldn't recommend allowing players to start just about wherever we want. It might take forever for players to interact with each other, especially if we're scattered around the continent. Do you really want to be crafting separate encounters that will satisfy 10 different players? Could you keep up with that? Look at the RPs Acqui has listed. The hosts have crafted sort of scenario where all the players are together. It isn't necessary that everything is already planned out, world-building and lore can be explained as the RP goes along. I would recommend assuming your players have zero knowledge of the Final Fantasy series. That way you can control how information is handled, explained, and given to your players. Maybe sign up for a role-play, and participate for a while to see how things are paced out. As someone who hasn't played FF7 (yes yes shame on me), all this talk of Remnants and Jenova's Cells is all just unnecessary words to me. I just kind of glaze over it, uninterested. Watch this video (5:35-7:04). Preferably the entire video. Start small. How is the story going to begin? Where is it going to begin? How do all the players know/interact with each other? How will you introduce the very first plot point to introduce us to the story? Bounce ideas off other people, your OOC is here for a reason. Everything else can come after, or perhaps during the RP itself. You seem to have many ideas, and that is a wonderful thing. But we are not you. We can't know what goes on in your mind. and it is up to you how you want to tell it to us in a simple enough way that everyone can understand. -
[Interest Check] Mind Games

Sharing the body of one person would be... messy to put it nicely. Perhaps sharing emotions? Might cause a lot of funny out of character moments. As for my interest... probably depends how big this RP is going to get. I'm more in favor of a small cast. -

Outline what you want from this RP, and how you're going to achieve it. Basically ask yourself questions, have us ask you questions. Narrow down your focus. We as players want to know what we're getting into. There's some questions I have below to get your feet wet. -
Esyllt Esyllt raised an eyebrow at Arya's warning, clearly not too concerned. "Well if no one had told her, she wouldn't have known," she retorted in her mind. Arya had gone on ahead, not missing a beat of Mother Opium's invitation inside. "That is a very kind of you, Mother Opium," she said with a benevolent smile, trying to not let Mother Opium's sharp glare disrupt her demeanor. As if looks could kill. Though, if Mother Opium wasn't going to single her out for her actions, then Esyllt didn't plan on feeling any guilt. After all the times in the past that Esyllt had been bad-mouthed behind her back, she couldn't care less when people weren't direct with her. "I will graciously take you up on that offer, if it is no trouble to you at all." Esyllt followed Arya inside, as her thoughts trailed to the night before. --- "My magic keeps dispersing," Esyllt said. a little displeased with herself. Layla had informed her several times that she shouldn't constrain her power to a particular form, but Esyllt couldn't help but try anyway. Every time she tried to compress her vines into a feasible object or weapon, her orbs wouldn't listen to her, and return to floating about her aimlessly. But a thought occurred to her. "Why do I need to constrain myself to only one weapon?" she thought to herself. She focused, and made one of her orbs lash out in a general area. Since they were incorporeal, they didn't have any effect on their furniture, giving Esyllt a general target to work with. "Good, I can manage at least that much." For the real test, Esyllt wanted to know how many orbs she could summon. As if responding to her call, all of her orbs lashed out in unison, targeting unknowingly and unforeseeably, even to her. Esyllt had finally broken into a smile. --- Of course, that simply wasn't the limit of her abilities. She would have to toy around, and see what she was capable of. In the meantime, she looked to greet Natalie as a formality before sitting herself down.

This makes me... curious? Though I wouldn't mind some more detail regarding your world-building and a better synopsis of the plot (that part in red is dubious at best). Also as someone who hasn't played a lot of the main series games, is knowledge of canon necessary? I'll probably hold off and watch until I see something relatively formulative. -
"You are quite skilled as well, to be able to hit me with an axe. I was confident that you wouldn't be able to strike me, but you've just proven me wrong," Rosalvya said with praise. She subconsciously held the area where Keagan struck her, as the blow ached slightly. "I taught myself the sword. It was a necessity if I were to survive by myself on the road." Rosalvya tried to hide it, but she was quite pleased with herself for winning the battle. It was said that one got to know another better by crossing blades. She certainly had no qualms about welcoming Keagan. With an outstretched hand, she extended a handshake to Keagan.
