  1. But I have never seen it done THAT way, with the swords of justice and Mewtwo as the villain. IMO it was done very well: if anything, it lacked a bit of "punch", so to speak, in that every Pokemon fan knows that Resolute Form isn't actually a power up for Keldeo, so yeah, they made it look like the transformation gave the pony a chance, but a genre savy watcher knows this is not the case. But this is more of Game Freak's fault if you ask me: why the hell isn't Resolute Form a power up anyway?
  2. Personally, I find the ending of the fighting one, with Keldeo mustering up the courage to stand up to Mewtwo X, to be the best moment in the series.
  3. Fairy Tail Episode 131: but seriously, why do good guys aways forget about their powers when a new arc comes around? Like, Natsu beats a villain by unlocking Fire Lighting mode, then in the next arc he finds his usual moveset outclassed, necessitating to resort to Fire Lighting mode.. WHY DIDN'T HE GO FOR IT FROM THE START?

Didn't Lightning Fire drain Natsu pretty quickly in the early stages?

2 reason he is generally incompetent and the other what hiss says drains him prety quick

  4. There is no friggin' way these were done by some random fan. These look professional.
  5. Fairy Tail Episode 130: using Heartland counterparts of people from the Edolas arc was a clever idea. Helps feeling that the dolas arc wasn't a total waste of time...

  6. Fairy Tail Episode 129: was there a point to the whole "Gray and Erza are awkward around one another if there rest of the team are not with them" thing?

  7. In my 12 or so years roaming around forum roleplays, I have come across a bunch of communities that would use this very system you are suggesting, Lexi. And well, let's just say things rarely turned out as well as one would hope on paper. I mean, the idea here is to get a deeper understanding of a character, while seeing the player's actual skills when it comes to roleplaying. Let's just imagine, for the sake of argument, that a genuinely bad roleplayer comes in. A good kid, mind you, not a griefer/troll: a friendly kid who really likes the roleplay and wants to be in it. However, he is bad at roleplaying: maybe he doesn't get what metagaming means and why it must avoided, maybe his writing abilities are sub-par, maybe English is not his native language, maybe a combination of all these factors. Bottom line is: the "descriptive essay" he makes turns out to be absolutely painful to read. What will you do? Will you tell the kid to scram? Will you admit him in, exposing him to the inevitable mobbing from the other players, who are guaranteed to refuse interacting with him after seeing such a debacle? Because remember this: this is the internet, statistically speaking a guy who writes a bad essay for the world to see is MUCH more likely to be insulted and ridiculed for it, rather than being offered help. After all, internet communities mainly exist for people to insult and ridicule others. I know Reborn is a sort of safe haven on this regard, but still, I wouldn't bank too much on it.
  8. Fairy Tail Episode 128: I really like Michelle. With just a few scenes, they give you reasons in abundance to care about her, AND she makes Lucy's family become a plot point... Which is a great way to set up future events, what with Lucy's mom being the focus of a massive reveal later on.

  9. Fairy Tail Episode 127: and with the silliness of invisible Lucy out of the way, the random filler episodes are over. Now for the new arc's proper.

  10. Yeah... Anyway, I ultimately wasn't satisfied with Keldeo, so I went back to Lopunnite Landorus. On the other hand, Noivern proved to be much more effective with Pidgeotite than with Altarianite, and the set Pyrromanis suggested for Weavile is awesome. Editing OP.
  11. Just a quick message to let all of you guys know that Huk has solved his technical problems. We should be able to resume regular schedule now, and to achieve significant progresses in the upcoming week.
  12. Currently testing Lucarionite Keldeo over Landorus, and Pidgeotite Noivern to have better coverage and stats. Also, testing the set Pyrromanis suggested for Weavile. A replay: http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/mixandmega-331057332
  13. Fairy Tail Episode 126: of course, even in my fav arc there had to be something I hate. The Jiggly Butt Gang. They are an eyesore, and their gags are unfunny even for the standards of fart jokes (that are already unfunny to begin with). Why doesn't Wendy just blast them with a Roar?

  14. Fairy Tail Episode 125: how ironic, then, that the timeskip I loathe so much should be the one event to set in motion what is probably my fav arc in the anime...

      Tomas Elliot

Yeah, pretty much. I still find that, for the plot Hiro had planned, the timeskip was absolutely useless, but I commend the job of the anime writers for creating a "filler" arc that not only gave a lot of significance to the timeskip, it also established some plot points for later arcs to build on.

    3. Tomas Elliot

So much so in fact, that Hiro himself acknowledged Key of the STarry Heaven as canon, by having characters in later arcs of the manga reference that anime-only arc.

  15. Fairy Tail Episode 124: stupi tear jerking episode reminding me of my relationship with my own father... I am not supposed to cry about real life issues when watching Fairy Tail <.<

  16. And yet, Zim is not the one getting the likes for his work...
  17. Fairy Tail Episode 123: Romeo getting emotional upon being reunited with Natsu is cute, but they still failed to persuade me that the timeskip was necessary. Basically, all it accomplished was to make Droy fatter, Kinana and Laki hotter, and to give Alzack and Bisca a child <.<

lol I guess? Don't get me wrong, I am not saying that the timeskip was done poorly or anything. Simply, I think it did not add anything significant to the overall progression of the plot.

uh, it facilitates the introduction of other guilds to compete with Fairy tail? You know, like Saber tooth? Remember those guys?

    4. Tomas Elliot

It could have easily been done without the timeskip. Wouldn't have been the first time Hiro introduced a "world famous guild" out of nowhere, what with Phantom, Pegasus and Lamia...

  18. Fairy Tail Episode 122: my issue is not with Acnologia crashing the party out of nowhere. My issue is with how that caused a 7 years timeskip. WHY? What was the goal of the timeskip? What did it accomplish that couldn't have been accomplished without it? Was it really so crucial for the overreaching plot?

    1. Odybld

      Odybld

It gave us the timeskip that was not a timeskip and crowned Mashima as the official Troll King in place of Kubo. http://orig13.deviantart.net/075b/f/2011/288/e/e/mashima_out_trolls_kubo_tite_by_serumx-d4cw6xj.png

I am being serious here. That moment felt like... Something done for the sake of doing it. Like, the arc could have ended without timeskip and the following arcs would have stayed exactly the same. It really added nothing and, to this day, it still perplexes me.

      anethia

It could be a literal way to show how the Acnologia attack changed their world / how they viewed it.

  19. Fairy Tail Episode 121: between the Cana-Gildarts reunion and the Meredy-Ultear scene, this surely is an episode for the feels... See, THIS is how you get one to care about characters. It doesn't matter if they are good guys or bad guys: if you show that they have a life outside of the main plot, it will be easier for people t care about them.

  20. You have been around for 4 years, I have been around for over 2, and yet we have barely interacted if at all. Weird, isn't it?
  21. So sleepy... Why am I so sleepy?

  22. INTRODUCTION Greetings, people of Reborn. If you have been following the Showdown Roleplays topic as of late, you should know that I am one of the people who, since Smogon announced it latest OM, have jumped on the Mix and Mega bandwagon, along with Pyrromanis and a few more. What I like about the tier is the absolute lack of any competitive reasoning, when it comes to teambuilding: preparing for the tier's most relevant threat is absolutely impossible because, between the craziness you can create my swapping mega stones around and the fact that Ubers are technically legal to use, there are just too many. So yeah, the idea is simply to make a team around the Pokemon you have always wanted to see mega evolving, and/or absolutely insane stuff like Pixilate/Aerilate/Refrigerate paired with the likes of Fake Out, Extremespeed, and Boomburst. Just give your mons mega stones that you think could make them better, and go crazy, this is the basic philosophy. A philosophy that I embraced wholeheartedly. So without further ado, I give to you my creation, which just so happens to be the first RMT for this tier to be posted in this forum. AT A GLANCE Cool sprites, uh? Nova made them, he is the best spriter in the world. He also provided some advice concerning some specific choices, as detailed in the in-depth section. So yeah, here you have 3 hard hitters, 2 supporters and one bulky attacker. It is a very fun team to use, so much so in fact that it ALMOST made me forget the fact that I hate mega evolution as a concept. I made it a point to avoid using anything Ubers: I find that in a tier like this, the real fun comes from taking lesser Pokemon and making them hit harder than ubers. I am quite satisfied by the result, although the team is far from perfect (just think of all the possible combinetion I might have failed to consider!). But hey, screw perfection, this is all about the fun. IN-DEPTH BREAKDOWN @ Lopunnite Ability: Intimidate EVs: 160 HP / 96 Atk / 252 Spe Jolly Nature - Earthquake - Superpower - Stone Edge - U-turn Intimidate and 160 HP EVs make this guy decently bulky, allowing it to lead safely and/or to switch into resisted hits. The substantial bonus Lopunnite gives to Atk allows Landorus to hit ridiculously hard even with only 96 EVs, and even Spe, traditionally Lando's weak point, is patched up to decent levels upon mega evolving. Coverage is great, also thanks to the change in type, making it very difficult for opponents to switch into this hard hitter. My only issue is that Scrappy hardly ever comes into play, because the only relevant Ghost-type Pokemon that sees usage in this tier is Gengar (which resists the Fighting type anyway), so yeah, I am actually considering Mewtwonite X... Although that would be against my policy of using non-Uber stuff. Originally I had a Conkeldurr in this spot, so yeah, thanks Nova for suggesting this guy instead. @ Pidgeotite Ability: Frisk EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe Timid Nature - Draco Meteor - Hurricane - Focus Blast - U-turn Another Pokemon suggested by Nova, which actually has quite the history. Originally, my goal was to use Pixilate Boomburst, so I went with Flygon because I liked the STAB coverage it would get with Altarianite (Boomburst + Earth Power, good stuff). However, the bugger was very slow, so Nova recommended trying out Noivern instead. Which I did, but the fact is that Altarianite doesn't boost Spe, and Noivern doesn't get many moves that have good coverage with Boombust. So I ultimately went with Pidgeotite: with 3 powerful moves that have good coverage and never miss, as well as SpAtk and Spe both boosted greatly, Noivern is now a very dangerous Pokemon that hits like a truck. It's frail, but who cares. The custom sprite has pink elements because it was made with Altarianite in mind, now that I have settled with Pidgeotite I should probably get Nova to make a new one... @ Glalitite Ability: Pressure EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe Jolly Nature - Fake Out - Return - Feint - Low Kick Refrigerate Fake Out is insane to keep priority spammers at bay (it is neutral on all Pinsirite E-Speed users, and supereffective on Pixiespeed Zygarde), Refrigerate Return gives Weavile the strong, safe to use Ice-type STAB move it has always desired, and both Atk and Spe are off the charts. Coverage isn't really needed on this guy, as it is so frail that i cannot hope to deal with... Well, pretty much anything, so I went with Feint to further troll Extremespeed users, and Low Kick as the sole coverage option, to hit Heatran on the switch (thanks to Pyrromanis for suggesting this set). What you want to do with it is to use Fake Out and Return to hit hard, hoping to kill as many enemies as possible in the process. @ Ampharosite Ability: Synchronize EVs: 248 HP / 8 Def / 252 SpD Careful Nature - Dragon Tail - Will-O-Wisp - Defog - Roost Basically, it is the usual Mew doing its usual stallbreaker job. Except it needs Mold Breaker to do so, because of all the things that carry Magic Bounce in this tier. I am actually considering Toxic over WoW because frankly, WoW isn't as important in this tier, the few physical attackers that are very common AND can be crippled by WoW are so powerful that, unless they carelessly switch into my WOW, chances are they will kill me before I can status them. So yeah, using Toxic to put a timer on enemy stallers and wear down their walls is probably better than trying to stop physical sweeper with WoW... @ Sablenite Ability: Natural Cure EVs: 248 HP / 252 Def / 8 SpD Bold Nature - Seismic Toss - Shadow Ball - Soft-Boiled - Healing Wish Speaking of Magic Bounce. This thing never dies and cannot be taunted, so the idea is to use it as a multi-purpose tank to take most hits on both sides of the spectrum, and heal back with Soft-Boiled. Seismic Toss is the standard offensive move to tak away 100 HPs from the opponent, while Shadow Ball is there because this is my dedicated counter for Pidgeotite Gengar (what with bouncing back Hypnosis, being immune to Shadow Ball, and taking about 35% from Focus Blast). Healing Wish is an emergency Full Heal in case the opponent has managed to pressure one of my other key Pokemon (for example, if they carry both Altarianite Entei and Glalilite Weavile, they will put a lot of pressure on my Heatran). @ Latiasite Ability: Flash Fire EVs: 248 HP / 252 SpA / 8 SpD Modest Nature - Lava Plume - Flash Cannon - Earth Power - Stealth Rock With pretty good bulk on both sides of the spectrum, Levitate to remove the main weakness, and a gargantuan SpAtk, Heatran is even more annoying than it is in OU. Its job is more or less the same, set rocks then hit switch ins hard, only now it hits MUCH harder and is bulkier. Its typing also makes it ideal to check all things Fairy, including Pixiespeed. Zygarde in particular cannot touch the guy at all, once it starts levitating. CONCLUSIONS Welp, there you have it. I am sure there are so many options, in this crazy tier, that I have failed to consider, so I think it would be nice if we could turn this RMT topic into an occasion to discuss the tier some more, possibly spreading some interest in it in the process. I honestly must say that I rarely have as much fun, in competitive Pokemon, as I have in this tier. Importable in the spoiler below.
