  1. Just throwing there a question, mostly because I find Power Herb to be unreliable: would a Substitute+Geomancy set, with a better item, be viable? Xerneas has good HP iirc...
  2. You know Dominus, the reason why I immediately went for CB over DD is because I fear those dragons out there. The likes of Latios, Dragonite, Salamence, Garchomp, hell even Haxorus. Tyrantrum is stronger and bulkier than them all, but sadly it also happens to be slower, and it is also weak to Earthquake, a coverage move most of the physically-oriented dragons carry. Due to this, Tyrantrum cannot take them on, after one DD it is still slower than Latios, after two it is still slower than Scarfmence, and they easily kill it with Draco Meteor, Outrage, or even EQ. So yeah, instead of trying to outspeed stuff, something I feel Tyrantrum cannot do even with DD, I thought that maybe tanking hits from resisted types, force switches and dent holes into opposition by firing off ultra-powerful moves on the switch might be the job it can shine at. Dual Screen support can maybe help the set you suggest to be effective, in such a case however I'd recommend Lum Berry over Leftovers: the small recover is not going to matter that much when you lose huge amounts of HP to Head Smash recoil, and a burn can really stop your set for good... I mean, with Light Screen support your set can easily switch into bulky Water-types and set up in their face, but what if Scald burns it?
  3. Rock Polish? Iirc, it should get Dragon Dance via breeding, which is FAR superior... a Lum Berry DD set is viable given its bulk, specially with dual screen support. However, I find the CB set to be more straightforward in term of coverage: you say you want Iron Head to hit them fairies, but as of now Rock Smash is a clear OHKO on each and every Fairy-type in existance, with the only exception being Mawhile, but CB EQ kills that even after Intimidate...
  4. http://www.pokemonreborn.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=5617&page=2 Come on people, I need a co-host to start this project, I can't do it on my own!
    1. Code: PIRULUK

      Code: PIRULUK

*swings pompoms around* You can do it!

I wish you were less busy Acquiescence, I would have loved to have you as co-host!

  5. Everything's great! I personally love this subforum
  6. I would like to point out that they explicitly say there will be no extra content you'll need to download FOR A PRICE. And a lot of people here have been saying that they'd quit the game if Game Freak added content to be downloaded FOR A PRICE (which won't be the case, since in the interview they said it's not going to happen). But this doesn't mean that we can't be given new updates via Wi-Fi events for free. My theory about placeholders still stands. It would actually be a smart move for them: like, I am going to give you an insane amount of updates for free, but these updates are needed to mantain compatibility with the new games, so go buy the new games! This is smart marketing, and Nintendo has proven time and time again to be able to pull off smart marketing decisions for their most famous brands (Pokemon, Mario...). I can definitely see them going this path.
  7. I instead think we will get both a sequel to X/Y (given the way this legendary trio was characterized, Z seems slightly more likely than X2/Y2, but that is just me) and Gen 3 remake. The reason why I am calling this is company policy: they want to push 3DS as much as possible, just like they used Gen 4 to push DS...
  8. We all thought the same, but there is a reason why nobody pointed out. Please this is a very interesting discussion on a very intriguing topic, let's avoid turning it into a flame fest...
  9. MAJOR UPDATE: I got almost everything concerning the gameplay figured out. I just need to plan the order of appearance of the various NPCs. Besides, the internet is starting to be filled with the long-awaited detailed info about Gen 6 Pokemon, and besides, now that the whole X/Y craze is cooling down, it seems the right time to start a roleplay that has a strong french theme (Charlemagne and his knights, to which the NPCs will be inspired, were from France), given that the new Kalos region is inspired to France... So yeah, the time to plan the NPCs and then open the actual OOC+signup topic has come. I will do these things as soon as at least one person officially volunteers to be my co-host(s). Hokuna had offered to take on that spot but he disappeared... And surely I cannot do this on my own, given my university duties and the big timezone gap between me and the majority of the people who would join (I am from Italy, GMT+1)... Long story short: if you think you have what it takes to be my co-host in this project, post your credentials here in this topic. I'll need to know your timezone, your level of understanding of strategy and game theory (you'll need just the basics of course, nothing I cannot explain to you myself) and how much time you can dedicate to this. Also, it would help if you had a lot of time to spare during weekends. Just keep this conversation going! The sooner we find at least one co-host, the sooner we start!
  10. There wasn't a Whirlpool HM in Platinum, that didn't prevent HG/SS from happening. And besides, they could just give us a DLC patch for X/Y, if the issue is compatibility for trades... So yeah, I can't see the point of the HM argument against a remake being made...
  11. There is a lot of speculation going on about the mysteries of the new games. My theory is this: Game Freak has ultimately decided that, in order to enhance the buyrates of future titles, it will be more lucrative for them to keep X and Y relevant, at least as long as Pokemon games remain on the 3DS system. Therefore, all these mysteries are just placeholders for future updates, that will be released via Wi-Fi events. These updates will be used to mantain compatibility with future games, which quite possibly will contribute to look further into the new storylines, which as of now received a very anti-climatic ending in X/Y... Only time will tell I guess!
  12. And as usual Game Freak gives us an absolutely outstanding game with a very good plot, only to ruin it with an absolutely anti-climatic ending... Not as disappointing as B/W 2, but almost there!

Really? I found it to be underwhelming, truth be told... Like, they don't give us any explaination on the champion's role, as in, she is just the random character you randomly met and then turns out to be the champ... Also how did she achieve Mega Evolution? AZ could have been looked into more, and I also believe he should have definitely had Mega Evolution as well... Plus one or two more points that wouldn't fit in this reply

I would really love to hear your points on why you liked it, tho

    4. Requieon

      Requieon

I just didn't like the explanation for Floette's return. You mean to tell me it stared at him suffering for 3.000 years and just kept watching? Sadistic. I also dislike the fact that I can't get a floette with that black flower, it looked badass.

  13. OMG SANTA CLAUS IS A GYM LEADER IN KALOS!

    1. Ringabel

      Ringabel

Jack Skeleton for gym leader in gen 7.

  14. Playing through Pokemon X has surely given me many interesting ideas for a story... But they are not a senseful plot, just a bunch of ideas! I am not sure that I would have what it takes to make a proper fanfiction out of it...

  15. Bye bye Xerneas! Apparently you must be caught for plot needs, but after all the effort I put into raising my Sylveon there's no way I am replacing that with you as the Fairy-type of my team... And there is no way I am keeping a legendary boxed either, so there is only one possible solution, the most realistic!

    1. Tomas Elliot

      Tomas Elliot

Only thing that bugs me is that I wasted the Master Ball, but eh, it's not like I am going to catch any other legendary either... My policy has always been and will always be to defeat them!

    2. Ringabel

      Ringabel

      That's just fucking stupid.

    3. Tomas Elliot

Oh polite, clever user, would you please take a moment to enlighten me explaining the reasons why you spoke such wise words?

  16. SOMETHING DIES NOW Tyrantrum (M/F) @ Choice Band Trait: Strong Jaw EVs: 252 HP/252 Atk/4 Spe Adamant Nature - Head Smash - Dragon Claw (Outrage?) - Crunch - Earthquake There are many things to love about this guy. First of all, with its reasonable defensive stats, maxed out HP can allow it to safely switch into any of the types it resists (mainly the Fire type, which by the ways happens to be one of the most prominent offensive type, it was in past generations and it will be even more in the current one because it has the advantage over the new Fairy type) and force a switch. And when the opponent is forced to switch, that is when the huge Attack stat comes into play. This monster has a very impressive Atk, and it also happen to be a Rock-type that can access the strongest Rock-type move in Head Smash without losing to recoil thanks to the aforementioned decent HP stat. It can use EQ to achieve the infamous Rock/Ground neutral coverage, and it also happens to have 3 STAB moves. Yes you read it right: not only Head Smash is a hell of a primary STAB, not only its Dragon typing grants it a very powerful secondary STAB in Dragon Claw (I put there Outrage with a question mark because, while Outrage is without a doubt far stronger, this Gen it might be unreliable with all those Fairies running around, and besides it is still unconfirmed wether or not Tyrantrum can learn the move, so yeah), but its Strong Jaw ability basically means that Crunch is STAB too. So we have 3 STAB moves that achieve great coverage with one another, and EQ to improve coverage even more: I might be wrong, but this set should have perfect neutral coverage, with Head Smash netting a clear 2KO on Skarmory, which means that Skarmory cannot safely switch into Tyrantrum because, even if the T-Rex doesn't need speed (its main purpose is to deal huge amounts of damage on the switch), the 4 EVs should guarantee that it always outpaces uninvested Skarmory, which means the steel bird cannot roost off the damage it takes on the switch. So: 3 STAB moves, huge Atk, and a lot of resistances that allow Tyrantrum to force switches and hit hard on the switch: I think it is evident that all these factors make the T-Rex the ideal Choice Band user.
  17. To submit a set for this Pokémon, please Copy and Paste the following code into a new reply and fill it out accordingly. Please post only set per reply. Please note that the format for the set's details matches that produced by Pokemon Online's Export Button, so feel free to copy/paste sets directly from your teams, with your own description provided.
  18. We reach Anistar Gym with all the party Pokemon at level 61, with competitive-ready EVs thanks to Super Training and competitive movesets thanks to the insane amount of Heart Scales I had been saving earlier, and that were put to good use in Dendemille... It is really starting to feel unfair...

    1. Khayoz

      Khayoz

Yup. I just beat Lumiose and my team is already in their low 50's. Blaziken is lv 55, and I haven't used him since, like, the first gym.

I swear, when I get Pokemon Y (because I want to try that as well) I will play through it with the Exp Share switched off... But I am afraid it will still be unfair because of Pokemon Amie!

    3. Noivy

      Noivy

that is why i didnt use exp share or super training until after i beat the champion. :I

  19. I told my girlfriend she was wrong on a trivial matter during that particular period all women have, and I am still alive to tell the tale. Female users and/or males with girlfriends will understand.
  20. There are all these updates in which people seem to be talking to a specific user, a very bad one judging from the tone of said updates... What is this all about? They seem to be answering to something, but I fail to see what they are answering to...

lol I knew that joke would drain in some comment... Anyway, I am sorry for sounding nosy, but the fact is that I am... Well, nosy, so I just wanted to know what's going on, I've seen such updates (from many users, not just you) for a number of days now...

It's best to pay it no mind.

  21. As I said here, Scrafty is great. Do not waste time looking for Lucario and Zoroark, just keep Scrafty, it will do amazingly. A strategy I would suggest for beating Shade: if your Scrafty is female, grind Gyarados to level 39 (or was it 36? Anyway...) to get Dragon Dance, then breed with Scrafty to get yourself a Dragon Dance Scraggy. At this point, go to Apophyl cave and grind that Scraggy like crazy against those Magcargos, and when it hits a level that is comparable to Shade's Pokemon go back there and beat him. A Dragon Dance Scrafty can easily set up a couple of Dragon Dances in Rotom's face and then sweep Shade's entire team with Crunch, provided you have some anti-hax items like Paralyzis Heals. If possible, try to get yourself a Moxie Scrafty, because Moxie is going to be fixed in Episode 10 (it is currently bugged) and well, after it gets fixed a Scrafty with Crunch, HJK, Head Smash and Dragon Dance, with Moxie and a positive nature, will be pretty much unstoppable... Using this Pokemon would also mean that you would shrink your Fighting- and Dark-type needs in one Pokemon, thus netting yourself a free spot to include one extra ally. You would have both the Grass-Fire-Water and the Fighting-Psychic-Dark cores in just five Pokemon, and this would basically leave you free to run literally whatever you want in the sixth spot. A Ground-, Rock or Electric-type would be recommended, tho.
  22. You want the best Fighting-Type and the best Dark-Type? You can get both in one Pokemon: Scrafty. You get it early in the game, it has a great movepool without even having to rely on TMs/Tutors that aren't in the game yet (it gets all its best offensive moves via level up, and Dragon Dance by breeding with Gyarados...), it has perfect neutral offensive coverage, it is decent defensively, and it is both your Dark and your Fighting, shrinked in just one Pokemon. Running it over Lucario in the team you posted elsewhere allows you to remove Zoroark too, thus having a great Pokemon AND another free spot to add a new ally. What's not to love?
  23. Not quite sure about Zoroark, but aside from that I can see this team doing decently in Reborn... How far have you managed to come as of now?
