  1. So... It's me again, with another crazy idea! I tend to have sudden impulses to write short stories at random intervals, but these stories never really get posted on the internet. Either I don't flesh them out enough to post them on other sites, or I just get too lazy to upload them onto Fictionpress. So, this thread will serve as a place for me to dump my random stories and share them with people, to hopefully get critique and ideas for future stories. So... Whenever I end up writing a short story, I'll put it up here, in the hope that someone, somewhere will be interested enough to read it, and (hopefully) comment on it. I'll be primarily using this as an avenue to improve myself as a writer, and to expand my comfort zones in terms of writing. For that purpose, about once a week, I'll also be accepting prompts/challenges from anyone who's willing to provide them, to test my own skill as a writer. An example of a challenge would be something like, "Include a table-flipping scene in a science fiction setting." For me, the benefit of this would be testing my ability to adapt and change, while the incentive for you guys would be the amusement of seeing me flounder to meet the challenge without disrupting the narrative flow. On weeks when no one issues a prompt/challenge, I'll just post up something random that I wrote. Feel free to ignore this thread if you want, but I do hope that some people will be willing to stimulate my admittedly stagnating creative mind >< Story #1: Coffee Story #2: VYKER - Operation ANGELFall PROMPT: Byronic Hero (@Murdoc), The Con (@Stratos) Story #3: GRATERRAS - Helen, the Scorched Maiden (WARNING: a bit NSFW at the end) Prompt: Told as a legend/myth, usage of an unusual weapon (@Hukuna) / Unfamiliar character personality type(Tortured/Vengeful), In-depth description of a scene (@GotWala)
  2. Final Spark? Don't you mean FINARU SUPAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAKU!!!!! ...I guess Marisa managed to get to the coffee.
  3. I've thought about this before. Like, say, a fantasy RP, where occasionally events like "Goblin sightings are increasing"; or "Princess of country A has been betrothed to prince from country B", or "Renowned mage releases new thesis on the viability of temporal control magic". Small events that shape the world in real time, which RPers can then choose whether or not to react to. It's a nice idea, but it might put a lot of stress on the host, as he has to juggle all the information and planned events, as well as respond to RPers' reaction to these events. Also, there is a danger that both the host and the players alike might start to focus on the events more, to the detriment of the primary plot.
  4. I might post something regarding Bryn-chan later, she's easily my favorite character. Loads of potential. I will probably also delve a bit more into Hel's past and her motivations.
  5. One small thing to add: always remember that an RP is a collaborative storytelling process; each of the players isnt competing to be the strongest, but rather all are working as a whole for the purpose of creating a story. When characters fight, focus less on how your character can win/fight and more on how the fight itself can help develop your narrative/character.

  6. Lessons I've learned are too numerous to count; but here's a key few 1) Ef: A Tale of Memories/ Ef: A Tale of Melodies This show. THIS SHOW. Extremely underrated imo, and gave me so many feels. Also struck really close to home. So often do we allow concerns and fear of inconveniences and hassles to guide our decisions. This show teaches us that we should throw away these concerns and just follow our heart. Even against insurmountable odds, the last thing we can ever do is to walk away from the option which will grant us happiness, however transient it may be. For when we forsake the pursuit of happiness, we abandon hope. 2) Sasameki Koto Known by some as a hallmark shoujo ai anime, this show teaches us that sometimes, hesitation will only lead to complications. Overthinking a decision often makes the situation worse. 3) Spice and Wolf This show is a pinnacle of the idea of "nothing ever goes my way". At every turn, with every profitable opportunity, Lawrence is confronted with failed speculations and unseen events which threaten his financial state. However, this show demonstrates the importance of persevering through the hardship, if not for yourself then for those you love, and it teaches us never to be defeated by temporary failures. The list of things I have learned is impossible to pen down, but these would be the three anime from which I believe I have learned the most impactful lessons.
  7. I didn't pay much attention to religion as I felt it was less important to the world as a whole, but the same religions which persisted in the present are in Vyker as well, though any form of militant action is immediately suppressed by Valkyrie. Also, all religions have condemned any for of militism out of a shared distaste for conflict
  8. To be fair, there are like... 20 different elvish tongues flying around, including Paolini's and Tolkien's. I do believe Tolkien's Sindarin/Quenya is the most developed, though.
  9. Yep. Anyway, I'm surprised nobody's noticed it yet, but I hid a small Easter egg in my latest post on FafnirChan. Try your best to find it! (HINT: look at ways in which the post differs from my normal style)
  10. That's not what I'm talking about this is a long term project, so slow posts don't really matter that much to me. I'm wondering whether anyone has noticed a little something else.
  11. I would totally join as a Coordinator if I still had the time to RP :/ sadly, though...
  12. I think we should focus on understanding the truth hidden within plain sight. Oftentimes, beginnings hold the answer to a myriad of questions. -- how important is the truth? that is the question many have asked. that is the question none have answered. p://erhaps you'd like to give it a go the first story was a very intriguing read. i never knew that such a man existed. nowadays, it's hard to find someone who's brave enough to defy orders like that. you really have to applaud his bravery. ultimately, it is the result of an action which decides its morality though. reality is not as kind as to judge people by their intent. life is not as simple as whether we mean to do good or evil. .consider for a moment what morality means, and you'll see what I'm saying. only the individual should have the right to judge their actions, but that is sadly not how it works. many a person has tried to defy this truth, and all have ended up being persecuted. /now, as for the second story. as a matter of course, when I say "story", I refer only to narratives. even an AI like BRYNHILDR can feel confused. my mind was blown by that suggestion. given that AIs are in charge of our entire network systems, it is troubling that such an arbitrator should have feelings of doubt. xenophobic as it may be, I greatly question the notion of leaving our security in the hands of a nonhuman. 5 minutes is all it takes for an accomplished hacker to break down a security net. -- Well, that's all for now. Always remember to search for the truth hidden in plain view. 'Til the day the world freezes over, Hel8627, signing off~
  13. Just putting this out there: well done. This was very meticulously planned. Acquiescence is impressed.
  14. Great timeline, and a good use of my world. But a couple things to note: Fafnir and Fenrir are not members of Ragnarok, they're independent entities. Fafnir doesn't even try to cause harm, they just hack for fun. And Fenrir is a legitimate company who does cyber security; they just do hacking on the side, and they're not publicly known to be hackers, only those involved in the underground world of Vyker know it. Plus Valkyrie was created by the Triumvirate, but it's alright to say they were backed financially by a corporation.
  15. Deadline is... Never XD I'll be posting up a new world in a couple of months, but that doesn't mean this will be shut down. It's not a competition, it's just something to do while waiting for RPs to progress and to improve your writing abilities
  16. I don't particularly mind, but please a) credit me for the world and refer interested parties to the Worlds Apart project.
  17. Nope. This isn't an RP; it's just a creative writing thingum. If you want, you can collab with other writers, but for the most part it's just to let you flex your creative muscles. Do what you want with the world, no need to intro your characters; just characterise them through your narrative
  18. Anything you want, as much as you want You're creating the stories; I only created the world.
