  1. Serene sat next to the fire and let the gentle heat drain the tension from her body. Sticking her hands into the middle of the flames, she loosed a contented sigh as the fire gently licked at her palms.
  2. "Farewell. May you rest peacefully in the bosom of the Goddess." The same moment when Hoshiko loosed her arrows, Serene unleashed her magic. As the fires raged to life, consuming the bodies and the firewood, roaring, rising in a large fiery dance that was both haunting and beautiful, Serene closed her eyes and allowed the sensation of heat to wash over her. The fires surged throughout the church, touching every corpse as a loving mother does her child. Each body was systematically set alight and purified. As the fires continued to blaze hotter and higher, Serene - her eyes still closed - began to sing.
  3. Serene cast one more wistful look towards the crystal, then stood at the entrance of the church. She glanced over at Meredith, who was speaking quietly to the fallen soldier. The image was a familiar one. Serene had a reasonably good idea what the armored woman was saying. Still, she seemed to hold a leadership position of some sort in this group. If she were to join it, as intended, she would have to find the time to speak to her later. Turning her attention to the task at hand, Serene began chanting softly as her hand rested calmly on the tome strapped to her side. She would make this a blaze to remember. It was the least she could do.
  4. Serene frowned, her face showing a look of uncharacteristic solemnity as she cast her gaze over the dead. "If it were up to me, I would want to cremate them, send them off properly in the purifying flames of the Goddess. I believe the sacred fire would loose them from their suffering, and they've clearly suffered enough." Her sombre gaze quickly disappeared, replaced by her usual chipper demeanor. "Problem is, if I did that, I'd probably burn the whole place down, and us in it. And it's a bit hard to examine a crystal in the midst of a burning building - I know I for one would be too hot and bothered to focus on anything." She cocked her head at Saffron, seeking direction. "What do you want to do?"
  5. "Whoa! What in the blazes?" Clearly alarmed, Serene took a step back, one hand on her tome. Acting on instinct, she launched several volleys of fire at the undead, even as it was getting to its feet.
  6. "Hmmm... Not really a blaze of power... Maybe a tickle?." I mean her most important stat did level, but... well... Also I promise not to have Serene buy 99 fire tomes.
  7. "Mmmmmm. Body made of fire. Can't say I approve of raising the dead, but you've got to applaud that fashion sense." Serene looked on wistfully as the living fire dissipated. A magic to turn her body into fire... what a dream that would be. As the church doors opened, the intense smell of rot assailed her nostrils. She wrinkled her nose a bit, but was otherwise unaffected. Instead, her gaze was drawn to the crystal at the back, with its shimmering inner flame. It was beautiful. She walked past the bodies and approached the crystal, hoping to get a closer look.
  8. I'm hoping to eventually get a crit so I can write out the sequence I have planned :/
  9. "How uncouth..." Valor frowned as he rested on his cane, standing among the audience. The battlefield in front of him was swirling with hostile intent, creating a cacophony of violence. One of them - a girl - had some kind of control over fire, that much he could tell. It was hard to mistake the distinct shift in ambient temperature. It seemed to coincide with some sort of song, as well. Interesting. One of them had suddenly become far denser and heavier - some sort of physical reinforcement? At least three of them had some form of telekinesis - he had felt spikes of hostility, followed by sudden displacement of seemingly unrelated individuals or objects. One of them had... something that tingled in the air as well. It was reminiscent of the current he felt from electric devices. An electrokinetic, perhaps? It would certainly account for that person's seeming telekinesis, as well. There was one figure - the smallest, a boy. Valor could not place his power. Had he not used it? Valor had not felt anything besides brief flashes of intent... As Valor mulled over these thoughts, his face expressionless, a sudden eruption of hostility and negative emotion caused him to wince as the fire girl unleashed a maelstrom of emotion. He shook his head and spoke softly. "Truly uncouth..."
  10. Verniy's voice lines make me just want to hug her and tell her it's all going to be okay omg ;~;

  11. Serene frowned a little as the undead fighter came into sight. "Hmmmmm... If I set the thing on fire I might accidentally roast the guy on it's shoulder... I should carefully consider my options..." She rubbed her chin in puzzlement, then shrugged. A few burns never hurt anyone. Not significantly, anyway. "Options have been considered! Eat fire, carrion-face!" With that, she closed the distance and lobbed indiscriminate fire at the shambling mess. Serene moves to N8 and throws fire at Fighter 5!
  12. Serene winked her gratitude at Luka as he danced for her. "Aye, that was the plan. I wouldn't blaze ahead without a plan." Even as she began to run, she turned her head back and shouted some critique. "Also, that turn was a third-degree better than the first one, good job!" Serene moves to Q8
  13. "Hm. You guys can probably keep things hot here. I'll go ahead. Don't burn out on me." Serene moves to Q13
  14. Film Studies Test tomorrow, and I'm watching the Persona 3 Movie atm. I guess it's kinda relevant...?

  15. "Ay, now that's a hot dance~ That last turn could be a little tighter though." Serene called out her thanks to Luka as strength entered her body, vitalising it with the mystical power of the dance. She grinned as a sphere of flame appeared in her hands and traced a blazing trail through the air as she leapt up and did a triple axle jump turn. "Something like this, hm? Burn!" As she ended the turn, she released the flame, sending it soaring toward the other archer. Serene executes a Super-Ultra-Triple-Axel-Turn-Eighty-Six-Point-Fireball (Read: a burst of fire) against Archer 3!
  16. "Oh, what in the blazes!?" Serene cursed as the undead somehow managed to avoid her attack. The stupid thing was more nimble than a shambling corpse had any right to be. Thankfully, their allies had arrived to help, but it was probably better to finish this area up quickly so that they could do more important things like incinerating the hooded man who was clearly some sort of suspicious figure. "One more time! Let's heat things up!" Serene leapt over the head of the undead archer currently in front of her and rolled to a stop while simultaneously unleashing a torrent of fire at the other archer Serene moves to Q18 and hurls fiery re-death at Archer 2.
