Maybe it's better for me to just buy some headphones so I don't constantly buy and lose earbuds.

Just be careful not to step or roll over the cable. Best bet would be to just go and buy wireless headphones. Then again, I have no idea if that's even a thing or if that's more expensive than regular headphones.
I spent about 90€ ($99) for headphones this year, so yeah. My earbuds kinda just fell apart at some point.
