Neither is really better balanced, they both have their problems, and Dota and League are just as competitive. Complexity and Competitive aren't mutually exclusive terms.
((oh and DoTA 2 is completely free Flux, you don't buy DoTA 2. Essientially, DoTA 2 being owened by Valve it can essientally be a loss leader for them as it gets people onto steam. They don't really make all that much off it, though they do make some with the cosmetic stuff I would wager.))
