    What Dobby said. I don't care how much battles someone plans as long as they take it to the battle thread. I just want everyone to do one battle to see how the new people do. (And of course the battle style each PC has). So if K_H wants to plan 3 battles he can go ahead. He only has to do 1 new pokémon vs new pokémon single battle. If his second battle is against Wolt (for example) they can do Fennekin vs Absol for all I care.

    This is what I had in mind when I wrote those rules last year. And Techie's moveset is fine. Normally it isn't but I've been allowing stronger moves on other Pokémon. The difference is that this time around I know most RPers already and I know they won't go overboard. So yes, your moveset is fine. The only thing I'm worried about, as well as with the Aron, is how you're going to show some growth if the moveset is already this useful.

    You can put Confusion on it if you want. So you at least stand a chance against some of the others

    It's on the borderline. I was thinking that priority + stab that slows opponent down + stab that can double in power is a little bit too much but Snorunt doesn't get much... Use Headbutt / Bide or Hex to replace one of those moves. Or Rollout. Weather Ball is useless. Nope. It only gets Bulldoze by TM. Phanpy doesn't learn any Ground type moves unless you count Mud Slap by breeding. So either go with that or wait until it evolves (lvl 25) to go for Bulldoze or Magnitude.

    Play Rough is too good for a coverage move at this point. 90 base power... @Hiss: Please don't go Moody. The only way to let it work is if the player adds each round what's happening to the stats. Very easy to powerplay. And Hail is like 40-50 depending on X/Y or ORAS. So nope, keep that for later. Those are nice moves to use to show some growth.

    Oh ok. I've never messed around with the trainer card so I didn't know that. I guess that makes Kay's fifth Pokémon. Now I only need to decide between Clefable and Aromatisse as a sixth, and possible last, member.

    Btw Dobby do you still have that Jellicent planned or not? Because Lopunny isn't in that signature either.

    I see... If that's the case what I usually do / did in the first run was allow more support moves. Doux is an example. Aron gets Mud Slap (doesn't do anything similar to the other moves), SR (can be used in an interesting way like Murdoc once did) and in this case Substitute should be fine. If you really need Metal Burst tone down the power for now. Because at this point, in raw power, your Aron would annihiliate everyone else except Matt.

    Yeah we didn't really bother too much with the starters when it came to the moveset. I just checked Aron and according to Serebii he really gets a mix between crappy and OP moveset early on. If I go strict by the rules Rock Tomb (Rock Slide is too strong right now), Metal Burst and Metal Claw are illegal. Btw you don't have to fill all moves or you can just go with something like tackle or even Stomp in this case. So go with something like this: - Metal Claw - Rock Tomb - Tackle / Stomp - Headbutt I see Metal Burst is level 49-50 for Aron and that's the earliest. I'd say keep that for when it evolves into a Lairon or after some harsh training or something. Edit: Buneary gets splash. Use it Dobby. Splash that Aron into oblivion.

    Ragnar, do you want to let Toshiro battle Kay? He's getting a Prankster Purrloin so expect some shenanigans when facing him.

    Stratos Louis's speed was impressive, even for such a young Chimchar. Not even 2 seconds after Maya had accepted her Pokédex back or the monkey was already on her shoulder. A happy cry indicated he had found a comfortable ride back to the dorms and his trainer. Maya had no other choice but to go back herself and take the little monkey with her. Fortunately for her, Louis didn't seem to be very active right now. It didn't even notice the familiar deep red eyes staring down from the Dorm roof. The Beast snorted quietly. So they were both here just as he expected. But Samantha had changed so much... Was it because of that incident that happened not even a year ago? Pleased by seeing they both were doing okay, the Beast withdrew himself in the shadows before anyone could see him. Everyone / Ragnar The next morning all the first years were gathering behind the gym. The late comers had about ten minutes left before Redwood was going to hand out Pokémon. But right now he was talking to a man wearing a dark blue training outfit and white sneakers. His spiky brown hair was a bit messy and his voice was rather loud. From what the students could hear, his name was Tyron and he seemed to had a little bit of trouble with a few Pokémon. By his sweaty looks it appeared he received a full work-out before getting them all back in their Pokéballs and lining them up by type. And that's what most students were looking at: multiple tables with dozens of Pokéballs, carrying labels with the Pokémon species and gender on it. Toshiro found himself right in front of the dark types. Next to him stood that troublemaking blonde kid he had seen yesterday. Apparently he was his second neighbor from room 117. Right now the kid didn't seem to be very awake. He adjusted his glasses and scratched his chin. His hair was all messy and going by the multiple yawns so far, this guy wasn't a morning person. Kay scratched his chin again while staring at the lazy Turtwig in front of him. He grabbed his Pokédex out of his pocket, put the sound off, and pretended to scan his partner. “Herman, the lazy Pokémon. Does nothing but eat and sleep and cause trouble for his trainer.” A dumb grin formed on his face when the Turtwig opened an eye but decided to ignore Kay for now. Instead his gentle snoring was added to the sounds of exciting students that kept staring at Redwood and Tyron Silva every few seconds. It wasn't until the clock hit exactly 9 AM that Redwood walked over. “I already explained this yesterday during my welcoming speech. Each of you can pick one Pokémon. They are all lined up by typing and each Pokéball indicates the species and gender they contain. If the Pokémon you want is a dual type, go by the first type listed in the Pokédex. After you've chosen a second partner, find someone to battle with and head over to one of the battle fields behind you. Those cameras on each corner will register your entire battle so we, the staff, can rewatch them later.” With that being said, the professor took a step back and waited for the madness to begin.

    Day 2 will start on the 24th. It's the second part of chapter 1 but shouldn't take too long. Any conversations still going can be mentioned to actually close the ongoing 'bonding' but I'm not going to wait much longer. So if people can search for a battle in this topic and let me know, I can start those battles already. It would save some time so we can get the plot started in Chapter 2.

    Stratos “Yes! This is going to be so much fun!” Samantha yelled, pumping her fist in the air. “Let's have a slumber party, Roomie!” she grinned while her Chimchar imitated her fistpump. The little monkey was still fiddling around with Maya's Pokédex, trying to figure out how exactly it worked. His trainer apparently had completely forgotten about it since she rushed off towards the dorms. “Let's go, Louis! We're lucky we haven't unpacked yet. Hooray for being lazy!” The little monkey stared at his trainer. How was he supposed to run while carrying this thing around? He tried to clumsily find a way to run on two feet much to Redwood's entertainment. “Why don't you give that Pokédex back to the one it belongs to? It makes running far more easier,” he stated before staring at Samantha's back. He looked a bit worried for a moment before quickly changing his facial expression to neutral. In the meantime the Chimchar offered Maya her Pokédex back. Now if she only took it back so he would have a much easier time climbing on her shoulder. Who wouldn't want a free ride when they were going to the same location. Ragnar Matt snorted at Toshiro's behavior and his Bulbasaur. Just another annoying know-it-all.,I should just ignore this guy. He looks weak and not worth my time. The young RoG member just opened his door, still completely ignoring Toshiro, when he heard the boy call him 'number eleven'. His hand moved immediately from the door to his neighbour's shirt. “What the fuck did you call me?” Matt threatened. “Don't ever call me that again or you'll be sorry! And that guy is not my friend! Don't ever mention him in front of me again. Next time you won't be so lucky!” Matt shoved Toshiro against the wall one more time before slamming his own door shut behind him. He had almost lost it twice on day one. And to make things worse, their neighbour had heard their previous conversation. If anyone else from the organization found out, he and Kay would be in serious trouble. The only reason Matt hadn't punched Toshiro was because they explicitly told them to keep a low profile.

    Btw the new mons are level 5. They never received training and have no experience being with a trainer. The starters probably have slight experience in certain areas since they've been with the PCs for at least a year. Edit: I'll probably close up the ongoing actions with Matt and Samantha and leave it at that before moving on. I have an appointment in the hospital in an hour so I'll probably get to it tonight.

    Well these battles aren't main events but are there because it makes sense. (And I get to see if people go overboard or not.) So I'd say by the feedback I've received so far it's time to start these battles. That means people are free to pick an opponent in the IC and tell me and Dobby their second Pokémon. Do it like this so we know once both parties agreed to battle: Maya vs Claude Magikarp vs Jigglypuff Moveset Magikarp: Moveset Jigglypuff: (Matt, Samantha and Kay (the blond RoG guy) are free to be challenged. Matt is very likely to win his battle at this point in the story.)

    Ragnar Matt was still furious about his encounter with his roommate as he made his way towards his room. He shoved some people around who happened to be in his way and didn't even hear their protest. Only when he arrived at his room, he saw his neighbour and snapped. “What are you looking at?” Stratos Samantha grinned and started to circle around Maya while pretending to observe her. Her hand rested on her chin as she answered with a straight face. “I don't know about that. If I were a guy, or played the girls team, I would be all over you!” Before Maya had a chance to reply, Redwood suddenly arrived with her roommate and an unknown girl next to him. “Ah! It must be my lucky day!” he said smiling. “I was looking for both of you. These two young ladies next to me happen to know each other from a long time ago and ran into one another. They came to me asking if they could switch rooms and be roommates. So Miss O'Riley, if you don't have any quarrels, would you mind switching out? I heard from your roommate you haven't unpacked yet.” Samantha shrugged. “I don't mind, Professor. So where's my new room?” she replied. To be honest the fire trainer felt a little relieved. Her first encounter with her roommate had been a rather boring one. “Room 002. Miss Colbez here would become your new roommate. I see you both have met already so there shouldn't be any problems, or am I wrong?” he asked, looking at Maya.

    ... Why do I discover this topic only now? Anyway since people are throwing around theories, I'll share mine about what I think happened in that battle and why Yang. I'm really curious about CInder's power since it was hinted that she's responsible for attacking Amber and stealing her powers. So if she can take away powers, can she also give them to someone? That's my guess: Cinder's actual power is taking away other's powers and storing them into someone else. So far we've only seen her use fire, but it's possible she has Amber's powers and is using them. They targetted Yang because she doesn't really hide what her semblance is. Mercury is also a close ranged fighter who could potentially benefit from it. If Cinder can take and store powers, she might be willing to 'power up' her 2 allies.

    Joey followed the interaction between Nikki and Steele with interest. In his mind he imprinted the image that they were fighting over him and a dumb, satisfied grin showed on his face. He couldn't help but agree a little with Nikki. He too came her to look for Arcadia and a way to remove the roadblock that he was unable to pass for quite a while now. The water type trainer was considering to follow Nikki's lead when he thought back at Khan's little power display. He's strong... the type of trainer I've been looking for. What if I can find my answers here but don't realize it yet? I have to take the risk and jump into the unknown or else I would be pondering about what could've been. His attention was drawn back to the conversation when Valeria started to answer some questions. He would take everything into consideration before making his decision, but when she mentioned Mega Evolution his internal struggle came to an end. He was definitely going to stay. Satisfied with his decision, Joey decided to stay out of the conversation for now. Ishmael had other plans. The giant serpent was still out of his Pokéball, closely watching that Gengar. Strong. Could he beat it? Probably not considering the current situation he and his human were in. His gaze turned back to the sea as he let the humans bicker. Ishmael wasn't paying too much attention when he also heard ways to become stronger and Mega Evolution. He slithered over, right behind his trainer and waited for Joey to say they were going to stay. This was exactly what they were both looking for and what that dumb human of his needed! But Joey didn't speak a word and Ishmael grew impatient. Now, when it truly mattered, he kept his mouth shut? The water type craved for silence whenever his trainer had found a female to talk to but right now wasn't that moment. And when Valeria walked away he couldn't help but let out an angry and mighty roar for everyone on deck to hear.

    Yeah don't worry about it. Everyone is taking things slower but I want to get a decent pace going. And don't get me started on surgery. I had surgery on the same ankle a few years ago because some lunatic assistant doctor said: "I don't need to take another x-ray. I can see that you can walk just fine. If you want you can play football (soccer) again tomorrow!" You know what I was actually doing? Hopping around and grabbing everything I could find for support because I couldn't walk. I didn't play football again until 6 months later. I recovered under professional advice + the season was over. Result: My ankle was still broken after 6 months and I had to get surgery. I wasn't allowed to walk on it for an entire month and two more months in a plaster. Once I could walk again it took me 6 more months to completely recover. I also quit football because I was injured for the entire season. And to get back to the RP: There's a certain battle thread no one ever uses. Not sure if people don't know how to use it or completely forgot about it (probably both) but if you all want we can use it to speed things up a little. Just say which Pokémon your PC is going to pick next and look for an opponent. All battles can go in that thread so you don't have to read through everything. Once your battles are done I can let you know when to post a summary in the actual IC. It's also fine if you don't want to use it. The next battles aren't really story related but are almost the end of chapter 1. So what does everyone prefer?

    I'm surprised you haven't already... I'm going to give a few more days to finish interactions. I want to start the second day on the 23rd. I might get delayed since I have to go to the hospital for xrays concerning my ankle. Doc finally believes me it's fucked up. Oh and Hilda dropped out. Not sure if I'm going to keep Helene around as a random student or going to move Samantha into Maya's room...

    Joey stared with open mouth at Valeria's performance. Immediately all the questions he wanted to ask her about Khan were replaced by new ones. He was stil trying to decide which one to ask first, while doing his best not to blurt them all out at once, when he heard her mutter. By the looks of it she didn't seem to be talking to Yuzuki or anyone else. Joey's eyes squinted a little as he stared at Valeria. He placed the remark about the killing in the back of his head. It was probably best to ask her about it when there was no audience. In the end the water type trainer settled for a more urgent question. “How the hell did you just do that?”

    You know I never considered it to be Mind Control Magic. The thought never crossed my mind... I intended to use those Dolls to play around with the concept of 'Lust' (and have potential meatshields just in case). But Mind Control Magic would be a bit OP I think. I'll find another way to play around with his sin once I know what exactly needs to be changed..
