Pokémon Academy: Ch 1a: A fresh start [IC]
Commander replied to Chim's topic in Unofficial Official RP Club's General
"I want to say I was helping my friend over there out by activating drought, but I can't. Let's just say my Venonat thought it'd be funny to wake my Vulpix up from a nap. There's nothing we can't do anything about it now, but it certainly may change the tide of the battle. I'm sure you're aware Fire is weak to Water. With this intense heat, that Fire bug there now has the upper hand on the Lapras despite the type advantage because water attacks are now weakened. I know everything about the Sun, but there are quite a few other weather effects." Henry then looked over to the battle and back. "Most people where I came from like having battles in the dessert for the harsh sands. Some people claim it makes their pokemon hold up longer. Whether you're a fan or not, it's a good idea to learn about them because they can change the outcome from an unwinnable battle to a guaranteed victory." Henry quickly realized he was beginning to ramble. "Forgive me, I was out of line to be talking about something like this. Anyways, that was a good battle we had back there. You put me in a couple situations where I thought it was over. Not bad for a first timer. Of course, it's been a while since I've used two pokemon either so I guess you could call us both rookies." -
Henry would cheer, but he's a bit embarrassed at the whole drought thing. I'm surprised neither Kenny nor Robert put the pieces together. The rest haven't seen Zuko battle so they probably don't know what's going on.

For that, he'd do it in your room. You have to love some of the roomate relationships Kage and Ryan: Secret Lovers Alvin and Claude: Bitter Enemies Henry and Shiro: Brothers (Henry being the big bro) That's the only way I can describe their weird relationship.
-
@Darklight: I edited my post and looks like Henry did a 180 from being proud to disappointed in his Pokemon. Gypsy is really growing on me as a trouble maker. Must have a Naughty nature or something. @Chim: I'm pretty sure everyone has broken at least one of these rules. (I even stated I'd stop being so analytical). Henry's battle strategy makes sense though. He gives me the impression of being dishonorable in battle. At least we're doing better than the anime.
-
It's not that we did anything wrong, she just kind of is invisible (Henry didn't even notice her when she was right behind him).
-
Is anyone safe from shipping at this point? (Totally would have nothing against this ship). Slade X Mareek, Alvin x Evan, Jacob x Danielle, and Claude x Any Guy pretty much is a given. I'm just picturing Lana being forever alone. @DarkLight: Technically, I could have Henry use Drought to even the battle making the excuse his Vulpix was a little bit too excited or startled.

"Ow! What was that for?" Henry saw the little Venonat use Bug Bite on his hand. "Honestly, I was kind of hoping you didn't understand that, but thanks." He then saw that Danielle and that boy had already taken the field and decided to stand up. He didn't want to fall asleep again for he knew he'd be made fun of for it. "At least I'll get to watch the battle." He watched as Danielle's Pokemon charged toward their foes. Honestly, I feel kind of sorry for the poor lass. I could have Zuko use Drought to even the field, but that'd be considered cheating. "Now that I think about it, where is...Zuko?" Henry looked down and saw a Vulpix sleeping close by his foot. "Are you sure your not a Snorlax? All you like to do is eat and eat and eat and then sleep before eating again." The Vulpix ignored Henry and continued on with its nap. It hurts my pride a bit that Gypsy is better behaved than Zuko and I've only had her for like an hour. Suddenly, the Venonat jumped on top of the Vulpix and bit down on its back. Zuko quickly shot up to his feet and hollered in pain. The area suddenly became warmer as the sun glowed much bright. I guess I spoke too soon. Maybe people won't notice the change in weather and the brighter sun. Henry quickly beamed his Vulpix back into his Pokeball. Okay Henry, just pretend like nothing happened. -
Speaking of Tyranitar, is it possible to pick up a Lavitar during the Dragon expedition, or is it only limited to dragons. Still haven't decided on my choice, if Henry picks one that is.
-
Well, that looks like a great character development moment (Henry wouldn't directly attack and catch a Deerling when seeing that Sawsbuck. He's headstrong, but not an idiot). Trying to earn Sawsbuck's respect allowing Henry to catch a Deerling: still easier said then done. Henry's Mega is a surprise I want to save. Henry (and likely Claude) is going to be terrified of it at the start.
-
This is similar to Solaris's Garchomp. Defeating it is nearly impossible; however, a few of us could work together to buy time. This is starting to feel like the RoG mission. Anyone want to volunteer to help or are you all just going to laugh at Henry.
-
@Chim: Your probably going to have so much fun having Henry go through multiple failed attempts. I might need some certain coordinators to help (their sacrifice will not be in vain). I have a few ideas, but distracting that Sawsbuck is easier said then done.
-
Chim, are you going to make a list of pokemon avaible at the start of each chapter or will you torture us trying to figure it out I mean I have most of my team figured out. I'll keep them a surprise, but my next Pokemon (after the dragon chronicles) might be a Deerling. I feel that's going to be a challenge within a challenge.
-
This is kind of tough for me to decide but here goes: 1) Blastoise - It was the first Pokemon I ever used and I've always liked it since. Since my list always shifts around, I just keep him number one 2) Sudowoodo - This use to be my least favorite Pokemon, then I used a Sudowoodo named Steve in a Nuzlocke. I never thought I'd call a Sudowoodo a BA. 3) Ninetales - This is my signature Pokemon on the server so of course it's going to be on the list 4) Aerodactyl - I love the way it looks and its a lot of fun using in battle. This is replacing Flygon once it become available. 5) Whimsicott - I know he's weak, but I still love him. He's so FLUFFY! 6. Infernape - This used to be switched with Blaziken back in Gen IV, but the Fire Monkey has really grown on me 7. Venomoth - I seriously don't know why I like this thing. I just do. 8. Metagross - Steven's my favorite Champion and I love Metagross's design 9. Dragalge - This might be the only Gen VI pokemon I really care for. 10. Solrock - I used one in a Nuzlocke and really had fun using it
-
That's only in battle to balance things out. Feel free to go on with your plan regardless. It's just so people won't use confusion to keep their partner pokemon from getting hit
-
I may have just ignored one of my previous posts and had Henry do this newer one. If no one wakes him up, I may actually have him sleep through the whole Danielle fight (she'll definitely be happy about that). This would be the second time Henry stayed behind instead of helping the Shiro rescue team out (I'm seeing a pattern here).

Pokémon Academy: Ch 1a: A fresh start [IC]

Henry eventually reached the group, but by the time he got there, everything seemed to be resolved or at least enough in Henry's eyes. He watched the Lapras sing a little lullaby. He then gave a quick yawn. That reminds me I didn't go to bed until...real.......late. Henry gave himself a quick slap to keep himself awake. They seem to have the situation under control so I don't think they'll mind me taking a nap before Danielle's battle starts. Henry kept his distance and found a nice grassy spot near the field. He sat the Venonat down right next to him and ordered, "Wake me up when the battle starts." Henry doubted the pokemon understood, but he couldn't help it as his hand caught his falling head before giving off a little snore. -
@Dobby: My PC is a bit sueish, but I'm thinking of a few flaws he has. I guess what I have going for me is that Henry is headstrong and tries doing things by himself (acts like a jerk to push people away). I do think he does know a little too much and I'll make him stop that. Since I ran a somewhat dark storyline, I'll have to use it, but I really like his dad as he's not what you'd think. Anything else you'd like to add since we're not too deep in the RP yet. Edit: Currently, my PC is pretty much just standing in some random spot and will pretty much be doing that until Danielle vs Jacob. Considering Shiro has them occupied, I have plenty of time to see what I need to do to tweak my character.

I'm not sure who started the multiple moves in a turn idea, but it works so well and is kind of fun. I'm one of those people who doesn't care who wins. Don't worry, I'd say something if I though you went too far. (I'm pretty sure I called out K_H like 3 times). I kind of ran confusion early because I thought Venonat was Lv 8, but let's forget about that. I realized I didn't know WTF is this move even supposed to do. I went with the idea that it could temporarily halt your opponents and damage them. The nerf anime version let me use a very unusual strategy (hold the opponent in place while Zuko burns it) and would allow the other person to still attack next turn. I didn't want to say anything, but attacking Venonat (a sitting duck when using the move) would've been forced to release the opponent. @Bfroger: It's kind of hard to judge a person's skill based on age. (I've seen some very skilled 8 year olds at very complex things). I do agree with having flaws. Yes, Henry had three major flaws in the battle vs Kenny. The biggest one was attacking Riolu with a -1 Def Tented Lens bug bite (which only did 5% for some reason).
-
@Darklight: That's why I incorporated the 15% rule (I might change to ten) so you wouldn't have to use a calculator, but base damage on judgement. (Usually, I just reference it to make sure I'm not over or underestimating). This ruleset is made so that people can't cheat (you don't have to use it if you both agree upon it). Here's a good example: Say Mudkip uses Water Gun on a Rattata. In your head, you know it would take out around 30% of its HP, but your opponent only says it only did 10%. Four Water Guns is a lot different than 10 to KO a pokemon. Using the 15% rule would likely make your opponent knock off 20% instead (5KO) which is a big difference. I forgot something. If you do break the 15% rule, the damage will be calculated to max possible damage. The only possibly way to bypass this is if you use a move to try and reduce the damage (you won't be able to attack the opponent then).
-
I based a lot of them on conflicts on both our battles. Also, I think I was talking about moves like Growl, Baby-doll Eyes, Agility, Dragon Dance, etc. Not Status Conditions. I'll have to make a sleep and confusion table, but the rest of them are permanent if they hit (unless you use a method to heal it). @Chim: I just wanted to bring it up. I was indifferent at what to do with them. I'll change that later then. Also, feel free to change anything as that is just a draft.
-
I kind of written a rule set if people want to use it to avoid the bias between the anime and the game (since this is a mix of both). If you guys like this, we can use and edit. If you just want to kind of wing it, that's fine by me to. There was just quite a lot issues in my battle (and Stratos vs Exlink) so I thought this would help stop that from happening (you don't have to use it even if it is accepted).
-
This is my battle all over again. Early in the RP, Zuko's Roar was able to send pokemon flying back and cause them temporarily be stunned. Edit: Zuko now knows Baby-doll Eyes instead so it doesn't matter.

(Pretty much getting rid of this one because it's irrelevant). -
Yeah, that's a bit arrogant on my part. Really need to learn when to hold my tongue. (I was trying to say don't make your second pokemon fight like you've had it for 7 years like Mareeks Scyther). But yeah, Henry is sueish despite that comment. @Dobby: I'll figure something out soon. It might actually end up being Ice types or heights (which would make him terrified of one of his future Pokemon) Edit: I know it's probably just me, but Larvesta's B/W Sprite looks as if it's going to stab you.
