  1. The Overheat came from a -1 critical hit, so it KO'd both Gallant and Litleo. I'd been planning for Sarcus and Sonny to continue the battle 1 on 1, since Sarcus is the one with the worse attitude of the pair.
  2. "Harvey, eat up that hit. He's doing nothing to you. Then, when Tiberius's defenses are down, counter with a Frustration before he recovers!" The Girafarig complied, stoically taking a beating from the Arcanine before turning and mule kicking the large canine into the wall with a pair of glowing red legs, creating a spiderweb of cracks. The Arcanine slumped to the floor, clearly breathing but knocked out. Harvey snorted, glaring backward at Sonny. "Nemea, latch onto Gallade's midsection while he's distracted, right below that red protrusion!" Nemea took a couple of staggered steps before successfully dashing toward Gallant and latching on. With labored breathing, she looked to Sonny for instructions. "Nemea, I know you have one more in you! OVERHEAT!" The Litleo took in a deep, pained breath, and let loose a torrent of hot, bright orange flame.
  3. Sonny cried out, "Maverick, take the hit for Nemea!" At this, Maverick flew in front of the Litleo and blocked the attack meant for her, taking around half of his own rocks and the rocks from Nemea's side of the field. "Good job, Maverick. You fought well." Sonny took out the Fast Ball and returned the fainted Pokemon, then threw the Heal Ball, revealing a Girafarig. The Pokemon glared at the other team and snarled. "Harvey, use Flash then destroy Gallant with a Retaliate attack!" The Girafarig neighed fiercely and reared, beginning to glow so brightly it hurt to look at him. "Now, Nemea, wait until Tiberius hits you, then counter with an Endeavor!" The Litleo began to radiate a faint orange aura and braced for impact.
  4. You could always "investigate sounds of battle emanating from the gymnasium" seeing as it's after class hours and people normally wouldn't be in there. I'm sure Absol-lutely would appreciate having someone to commentate with.
  5. Magmortar deserves moar love. All I've seen here is hate, but HE HAS CANNONS FOR ARMS. Also @Timber Dragon, that's the real life equivalent of getting shot in the head and surviving because you didn't notice.
  6. Perseus sniffed the air around himself and Jessica, making sure they were alone. Other than the usual forest smells of Pokemon that had passed by, Perseus was pretty sure that the two of them were alone. Seeing the split rock, Perseus decided to leap from Jessica's shoulders into the crevasse, nestling himself comfortably inside and closing his eyes for yet another nap.
  7. "Just saiyan," Maverick is also 3 levels higher in the 20s which translates to a large percentage stat differential, especially since neither Pokemon should have maxed EVs at this point. It was also a non-full contact hit, which I estimate would take off roughly 40% of Maverick's HP. Current battle status: Maverick- 60%, -1 Atk Nemea- 100%, -1 SAtk Sloth- 100% Harvey- 100% Gallant- 100%, -1 atk Argentia- Fainted Tiberius- 100% ???- 100%
  8. The Quick Attack command was similar in function to a "Dodge" command, which is not to be (and will not be) abused. And by your logic, the Whirlwind should have hit before Trick Room was up. So let's just stick with the order we established, which is that Aron gets hit by Overheat and faints and Staravia takes damage from the Head Smash (but is not KO'd because Intimidate). I get the impression that this would have been simpler had I just stated that Argentia was hit with Overheat...
  9. Not when using Quick Attack, which breaks the normal conditions of Trick Room. The way I always imagined Trick Room working was that each Pokemon's Speed stat was multiplied by (-1), which would make slower Pokemon faster. Motion more easily carried out with less force rather than more force. Operating under this logic, Nemea is able to move at a normal pace because she does not change position and Maverick is able to move normally because Quick Attack exempts him from the stat change.
  10. *Staravia And it would be an overcommitment because it's a slow Pokemon leaping into the air in order to attack a Flying-type. And the extra attack was because Aron commonly has Sturdy, which would prevent it from being OHKO'd. To clarify, the Quick Attack was to knock away the theoretical 1HP. Without Sturdy, Aron would be gonzo.
  11. Fun fact: I used to be a Fighting-type gym leader (not Sonny, me) and I ran that in conjunction with a solid Scrafty set. I always think Trick Room when I see Gallade. Also, for reference, this is the team: -Munchlax, lvl 28, Thick Fat -Staravia, lvl 28, Intimidate -Litleo, lvl 25, Unnerve -Girafarig, lvl 35, Inner Focus EDIT: I didn't mean to sound like a dick, but this battle is similar to when Ash battled Drake in the anime. No one questions Ash's ability as a trainer, but he loses because he is inexperienced and has not become as powerful a trainer as Drake, despite the fact that their Pokemon are somewhat similar in terms of power. Extra Edit! I found the Fighting team I was talking about.
  12. "Very nice job, Nemea! Maverick, don't worry about the hit! You're fine!" Sonny paused as the Arcanine entered the field. This would undoubtedly be the most difficult opponent to bring down out of the bunch. "Maverick, hit both of those two with an Air Cutter attack while Nemea uses Work Up!" Maverick, making sure to stay stationary in the air, flapped his wings harshly, causing a barrage of air blades to be launched toward the opposing Pokemon. Meanwhile, Nemea began hopping around, getting visible worked up.
  13. Sonny grinned. Just as I thought he might. He pointed his finger at the Aron. "Maverick, use Quick Attack to get out of there! Now, Nemea, go for it! OVERHEAT ON ARGENTIA!" Maverick attempted to move out of the way of the Head Smash, but was clipped as he swooped upward away from it. This caused him to be sent off course away from the Overheat blast, which enveloped the airborne Aron.
  14. Sonny grinned as the two came to a decision rather quickly. "Hmm... I see you've picked Gallant. I can't say that was unexpected. Luckily, I've come prepared! Let's go!" Sonny took a step forward and pumped his fist. "Alright, Maverick! Let's do it, Nemea!" The Scout took out the Fast Ball and the Poke Ball from his belt and threw them, releasing a Staravia and a Litleo in a flash of light. The Staravia, Maverick, immediately locked his foes in a fierce, intimidating look. "Sarcus, don't always rely on a type advantage to solve your problems for you. If a trainer only uses one type, expect him to be prepared to face his weaknesses! Nemea, open this one up! Use Attract on Gallant! Maverick, keep Argentia at bay with Whirlwind!" Nemea immediately complied, looking adorably at Gallant and opening her eyes wide. Meanwhile, Maverick flew to the middle of the field and began beating his wings, the force of the resulting gale enough to knock a full-grown human off his feet.
  15. I'm not gonna be able to post for a lot of tomorrow. I'll be able to get on my cellphone, but don't expect much since I'll be writing a paper. I'm going to try to do as much as I can tonight.
  16. Sonny opened the door to the practice room, ushering the students inside before closing the door. He then walked in front of them and smiled, spreading his arms. "Welcome to detention. This is how we are going to determine when you fellows are ready to stop coming to detention. Rayleigh, if you would?" The Sawsbuck pressed his snout to a button on a control panel near the practice field. This caused the field to widen, taking up nearly the entirety of the gymnasium. "Sarcus and Max, you two will be battling against me as a team. If you lose, you get to come back tomorrow and spend another afternoon with me. Because most of the Pokemon I have with me are much stronger than yours, I'll be using some that I haven't brought out in a bit. Rayleigh, return." The Scout pulled out a Friend Ball, using it to bring Rayleigh back to him. He went over to a PC and put that ball and a Quick Ball on the transporter, receiving in exchange a Heavy Ball and a Fast Ball. "Jake, you'll be acting as the referee. The battle will be a 4-on-4 double battle. Each of you can use two Pokemon. I'll let you get to strategizing." Sonny then walked to the left, taking his position at the end of the practice field.
  17. I actually have something planned for this next part, so please just have your characters follow Sonny.
  18. Sonny sighed and shook his head, then swung his legs off the table and stood up. "Evidently, the only one of you here who has any hope of not being in detention for the next three months is Max. You're all in here because you need to learn to control yourselves. If you can't even keep yourself in check, how are you supposed to keep your Pokemon behaving. And yes, I'm looking at you, Sarcus," Sonny said, annoyed. "Your defiant attitudes will get you nowhere, so I suggest you sit there and listen to me speak until I say you can open your mouths. Clear? Good." Rayleigh stood in the corner of the room, haughtily looking at the students. "Jake, I'm not sure what Emerald wants me to do with you, so today you'll get a special duty. Sarcus, Max, you two need to work out your differences. It's all well and good to have a rival, but when it gets in the way of others' education it is no longer a rivalry, it is a problem." Sonny walked toward the door and opened it, stepping into the hallway. "Follow me. We're going to the practice arena."
  19. After seeing the three young men enter the room, Sonny whistled. Rayleigh walked into the detention room and closed the door behind him as Sonny disabled his invisibility spell, revealing him to be sitting at the teacher's desk in the detention room with his feet up on the desk. "So, Sarcus, Max, and Jake. Do you all know why you're here?"
  20. In which Pocky and I carried our team through the entire game. I got lucky with my lane because the Olaf engaged me multiple time pre-6, so that allowed me to start roaming and pick off kills when my teammates died help my team secure objectives.
  21. Jory lost his balance, catching himself only inches from slamming his head into the healing machine. "By Emboar's beard, that was powerful! You and Lobo are gonna need to watch out for those. The moment her Shaymin makes a move, we begin our attack. While Shredder is boosting, you'll need to protect him."
  22. "We should try to boost our Pokemon's stats before we engage with Gardenia. Shredder can use Swords Dance to boost his attack. I think we should both target Shaymin so that the other two can focus on Virizion," Jory said to Lupus, elaborating on his strategy. "Don't Toxic Shredder before I say to, otherwise he might get worn down too quickly. Since both of our Pokemon fight from the ground, I was thinking that maybe Shredder could fling Lobo at Shaymin and then you could hit it with a Fire Spin to immobilize it."
