Poke-people: Chapter 2: Your first Exam
Jory replied to grasssnake485's topic in Unofficial Official RP Club's General
Sonny sat in the stands near the students, watching Jake's battle with interest. Doesn't he normally use Dark-types? Sonny wondered to himself as Jake sent out an Ariados. However, when the hit from the seemingly powerful Ariados connected with barely any effect on the trainer Aqua's Mienfoo, Sonny grinned. I think I know what's going on here, he thought to himself, being sure to block his thoughts in case Aqua was trying to eavesdrop on the audience to gain the upper hand. Then, Sonny looked toward the middle of the field, his eyes lingering on Alina. The sight of her caused him to smile lightly. Mother of Arceus, does she just roll out of bed looking that beautiful every morning? he thought to himself, allowing a small chuckle to escape. He then turned his attention back to the battle, which he noticed Max and Sarcus were also watching. They got other students in the drawing. Good. -

Pokemon Aftermath #2a: Gardenia stands firm
Jory replied to Code: PIRULUK's topic in Unofficial Official RP Club's General
Shredder flew through the Fire Spin, glowing a blindingly bright orange while his eyes began to glow red from his Toxic Boost ability. His eyes locked onto the Shaymin and he continued toward the legendary Pokemon, dropping his shoulder and launching an extremely powerful Facade attack. Jory shouted, "FINISH IT, SHREDDER! FACADE ATTACK!" -

Jory grinned and pumped his fist as he watched his plan work. "Yes! Now, Shredder, while that Shaymin's trapped! Close in on it and use Facade!" Shredder complied, dropping to all fours and darting toward Shaymin. Suddenly, Torterra's Earthquake went out. "Shredder, take to the skies before that thing hits you!" The Zangoose jumped into the air, narrowly avoiding the fearsome quake. His momentum carried him past Lobo, and nearly to the pillar of flame surrounding Shaymin. "Lupus, now!" Jory shouted as Shredder barreled toward Shaymin, radiating an orange aura and fully committed to the attack. -

Jory nodded, then released Shredder from his Premier Ball. "Shredder, use Swords Dance!" The Zangoose nodded, crossing his arms and closing his eyes. Four blue phantasmal blades appeared around Shredder's head, a soft orange aura radiating from him as he meditated. Then, his eyes snapped open. "Zaaaaaaan-gooose!" he cried, uncrossing his arms and readying his claws at his sides. The Zangoose looked furious after being knocked out by the Sceptile. "Now, Shredder, use Fling on Lobo! Target Shaymin!" Shredder nodded and ran toward Lobo. He flipped over Lobo, grabbing the Dark hound as the came to the apex of the arc. When he landed, he used his momentum and his added strength to send the Houndoom flying directly at Shaymin. -
Not really, Sarcus. I get how you feel. My biggest fear is that I'll die of hereditary heart disease before I have children.

Aervana #1 - Group 2 - (IC Thread)
Jory replied to Flux's topic in Unofficial Official RP Club's General
Roland brushed past Rhea and Megaira on his way into the camp, stopping immediately in front of Crag. "Did you bring enough for the rest of the class?' Roland asked, raising an eyebrow at the thief before chuckling lightly. He turned to the rest of the group. "While we are on the road today, I think I shall forge a bit ahead to sweep for more bandits. The last thing we want is to get caught off guard again." The ranger paused as he picked up his travel pack, which was already packed and ready to go. He retrieved a strip of venison jerky from the side pocket, chewing on the salted meat and taking a drink from his water skin. "There should be more than enough salted meat in each person's bag for the remainder of the trip to the Shaanti lands, although I think I will be going hunting again tonight for fresh meat. I would like to request that someone join me in sweeping ahead to ensure at least one of us can make it back to the group should we come under attack." -
Poke-people: Chapter 2: Your first Exam

Sonny shook his head, then walked over to the machine in the corner and put away Harvey's ball, taking out Rayleigh's Friend Ball. "Sarcus, I admit that I didn't think as much about your position as I could have. And Jake, don't worry, you'll be battling people soon enough," Sonny began, turning toward the students. "Sarcus, Max, do you understand why I brought you two together? I see so much potential in both of you, but in order for you to reach that potential, you have to stop seeing each other as enemies and begin to see each other as allies." Sonny turned and walked out the door. On his way out, he turned over his shoulder, an unmistakable look of grief on his face. "And make no mistake, boys. We're at war." The Scout walked a few more steps out the door before a flash of green light appeared, replacing Sonny's form with Rayleigh's. He paused for a moment, then darted off toward the forest. As Sonny reached the copse of trees surrounding the small pond, he transformed back into his human form. It was a small haven in the forest, one that Sonny had been coming to for as long as he could remember. There were tall pine and oak trees interspersed throughout the area, with large boulders littering the forest and giving way to smaller ones nearer to the water. Tears filled Sonny's eyes, and he let out an anguished cry that silenced the wildlife around him. Sonny spun and threw a hard right hook at the boulder behind him. His fist connected squarely and buried itself six inches into the hard stone, sending out a loud cracking noise and creating a spiderweb of fractures around the point of impact. He withdrew his hand, shaking it to dull the slight pain he'd experienced. Steam began to come off his skin as he stood trembling in front of the boulder. He grimaced, bracing himself against the boulder. Contain yourself, Sonny. He drew back his right arm and punched the boulder again with similar effects to the first time. The steaming intensified and Sonny screamed, bringing both hands down onto the boulder and crushing it. He breathed heavily, sweat dripping down his face. Not here. Not now. Suddenly, there was a flash of light and Sonny felt a small, furry sensation on the back of his leg. He looked down to see Nemea nuzzling his leg and looking up at him with a concerned expression. Sonny chuckled and sat next to her, stroking the fur on the Litleo's back. "Thanks, Nemea. I think I just needed to blow off a little steam." Nemea covered her eyes with her paws, ashamed at the poor quality of the pun her Trainer had decided to share. "Thanks," Sonny said sarcastically. He stood up and released all his Pokemon from their balls, then took off his jacket then stripped down to his underwear and proceeded to dive into the pond. He stayed submerged in the cool water for a moment, then surfaced and swam to a shallower area near a boulder. Rayleigh walked over near Sonny and lay on the ground, sighing and closing his eyes for a nap. The younger Pokemon played in the forest as Sonny reflected in the pond. If that happens in the Academy, it could get dangerous. I need to talk to Emerald about this, he realized sadly. -

Poke-people: Chapter 2: Your first Exam
Jory replied to grasssnake485's topic in Unofficial Official RP Club's General
"You're all free to go. And Sarcus, your reaction to this is the reason you need to practice. You need to learn to control your emotions, or you'll never be able to battle at a high enough level to defeat Team Shadow. You're allowing petty annoyances to interfere with your ability to cooperate with your teammates. And I think perhaps the worst thing you could possibly do is to say this is pointless." Sonny walked over to a terminal near the practice field and pressed a button on the keypad. A tiny holodisc ejected from the port, which Sonny picked up and walked over to Sarcus. "This is a video recording of the battle. There were a few errors made on both yours and Max's part that could use studying. And by the way," Sonny continued, "Your Pokemon are, on average, just as strong as most of the ones I used because they're fully evolved. Your Pokemon will be fine, so stop complaining about that." Sonny handed the disc to Sarcus. "Instead of complaining about getting private battling sessions against experienced opponents, you should be appreciative that you have such an opportunity to improve your skills." -

Sonny sighed and shook his head. "The reason you two lost was your inability to work as a team. It was like battling two individuals rather than the pair of you. The two of you are going to come here once a week for the rest of the semester and battle either myself, a teacher, or another pair of students together. You two are now combat buddies, so get used to it." -
Ideekay, that's probably a question for Murdoc or Grassnake. I personally tend to use body language more with Pokemon than actual dialogue, but since Ms. Mime is a Psychic type that seems plausible...

Generally, I try to shy away from introducing people because you're better off showing people your style and character on your own.

Movesets can change from encounter to encounter, but I generally stick to picking 4 moves per battle. Also, you don't need a legendary link.

Poke-people: Chapter 2: Your first Exam
Jory replied to grasssnake485's topic in Unofficial Official RP Club's General
"Harvey, you can take this hit! I believe in you!" Harvey's expression changed momentarily to one of pain, then returned to its usual rage-induced scowl as he took the devastating attack from Absolution. He staggered back, clearly only having a little bit left in him. "Now, Frustration!" The Girafarig whinnied angrily, rearing once more on his hind legs. His front legs began to glow red and he brought them crashing down on the Absol beneath him. -
After Close Combat, the calculation gave me about 73% HP remaining. +1 0 Atk Absol Night Slash vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Girafarig: 62-74 (59.6 - 71.1%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

Poke-people: Chapter 2: Your first Exam
Jory replied to grasssnake485's topic in Unofficial Official RP Club's General
"Harvey, keep galloping to maintain your momentum! Loop back around and come in for another Frustration!" The Girafarig neighed and galloped at full speed back toward Absolution, his red aura glowing even more brightly than before behind his Substitute. Absolution's Sucker Punch broke right through the Subsitute, but Harvey came through unharmed and body checked the Absol, sending him skittering backward across the floor. Harvey reared on his hind legs, his evidently furious expression scowling down at the Disaster Pokemon. -
Also, he doesn't treat Harvey badly. Harvey is just a foul-tempered Giraffe (more similar in temperament to a real giraffe). He wouldn't like Sonny even if Sonny fed him exclusively Sour PokeBlocks. He has a Naughty nature. That Frustration has a 100% chance to KO by my calculations. 0+ Atk Girafarig Frustration vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Absol: 85-102 (126.8 - 152.2%) -- guaranteed OHKO

"Nemea, that was fantastic! You're a champion. Now take a good rest." Sonny took out the Litleo's ball and returned her. Suddenly, Absolution began setting up. There's the mistake. Always with the setting up, this one, Sonny thought to himself. "Harvey, use Substitute! Charge behind your clone and hit Absolution with a Frustration!" The Giraffe Pokemon whinnied loudly, a shiny red aura surrounding his whole body as he charged menacingly at Absolution.
