Hidden library side quest question (Spoiler)

If you give the quest giver guy the book, he will stay at the library for research, make sense. But later Karen said she had dealt with him. Did Karen kill the backpack guy ? Do anyone know what happen to him after the quest that got us stuck there with Karen and Karrina

I don't know, because I never gave him the book. He doesn't show up again either way, so it doesn't really matter.

Huh, that's interesting, I never knew that, I've never given it to him. I could see Karen killing him.... I could also see her making him a pet or something like that.

In my first playthrouhg i gave him the book and yeah.. It's implied Karen took care of him..
In my second I hold on to the book so in Indriad's Mansion I could read the stone slabs and be gifted a Gothita and after that I gave him the book to complete the quest, maximum profits.

You don't need to give him the book for the quest though? And I'd argue it's better just to keep it.

I get the feeling that giving him the book will lead to a payoff MUCH later on, since he was trying to use it to bring the public knowledge.

Or it has no payoff, or makes thing worse between you and Karen. Not like it matters considering the events of our most recent meeting with her.
