Spork Episode 8: Smoothie + Delicia's Delicious Dreamland

I finished pokemon spork few weeks ago.I enjoyed it very much.I liked that i could choose almost any pokemon as my starter.I chose gible as my starter.Until the 5th gym i only used two pokemons because it was easy.Even after getting the exp. share, it was hard grinding 3 pokemons.Early parts of the game, almost everyone in the town was a trainer. This made it tiresome to explore the place. After the 5th gym,i really enjoyed it because it was much better.

The main problem i had is there was almost nothing to explore after finishing this version.

The bugs i found are if i want to see where i am from the map it always shows the wrong place. Also you can get 40 marbles in this version. You can get the last one from a guy in the underwater hotel.

After the fifth gym, i got a full team. This made the battles much easier.I defeated the bug type gym leader with only a crobat. So i think you should make the game a bit more difficult. Finally i would like to thank the dev for this game.

I'm glad you enjoyed the game :D

Spork isn't really intended to be difficult. There is a planned Legend Mode in the future though where the player can't use items in gym battles and experience isn't gained in them (may extend to all boss battles), among other things.

There are a lot of trainers early game because I didn't want players to be underleveled for the first gym, although I have considered reducing the number because I do understand there are so many that it can get tiresome sometimes battling them all.

I'm aware of that issue with the map cursor, although I don't know how to fix it.

Does the marble location list only mention 39? If so, I'll have to add that one to the list when I get back home next week.

Side places to explore: full Underwater Hotel, Virima City beyond the bridge, some parts of areas that become accessible with Surf and Dive, ranger missions, police cases,  helping the Pokemon Research Institute.

guessing you're come back home in a week or 2?

June 15. I'm not sure if it will be 15th still or 16th after the ~7-8 hour plane ride (probably still 15th due to the time zone difference) but 15th is the day of the plane ride home.

So if death doesn't exist in this game's world. Shouldn't the world be SEVERELY overpopulated? Like at least 100 billion? We're already overpopulated at 7 billion. Maybe I'm just not getting something. Why doesn't death exist in the first place?

Spork is based off of a planet called Cerri, which I believe is our real home. The short story is that I believe Earth is a simulation and that some of us are sent from Cerri and we'll return here when our lives here end. Death doesn't exist on Cerri. The worst that can happen is someone going into a coma which they'll eventually wake up from. How long the coma lasts depends on the injury.

Babies aren't created the same way on Cerri. They're formed in a tube. I've always wondered about overpopulation myself. Maybe the planet and/or universe expands to prevent that from happening? (idk if other species lay eggs or if they're formed through tubes too)

Ocean Coast is the capital city of a country called Serenity on Cerri, and the Data Vault also exists.

Oh. That's REALLY cool.

I'm back. Was originally hoping to get the re-upload up tonight, but due to being exhausted it will probably be tomorrow (which actually means today since it's past midnight) or the day after. I've fixed and updated everything I planned to for it except for all Pokemon having max happiness by default. I'm currently up through Johto on that (meaning all Pokemon from Bulbasaur to Celebi). It's one of those things where it isn't difficult and doing it each time only takes a few seconds, but the sheer number of times needing to do it piles up (since there are over 800 Pokemon) and makes it feel like it takes forever.

Re-uploaded ep 3 and a half with the following fixes and updates.

BUG FIXES

-Absol now has its full learnset

-King's Shield now has the correct move effect

-Selecting Pawniard as a starter now gives Pawniard instead of Litwick

-Fixed typo where Jim said Rania was "on her back" to Virima City instead of on her way back

-Can no longer pass through the mountain tiles in Cool Cave

-Mimikyu now gives Special Defense EVs instead of Special Attack

-Fixed typo where Ceolis says "I'll be waiting here for you find me" instead of "I'll be waiting here for you to find me"

-Lovely Lake now has wild encounter music

UPDATES

-All species of Pokemon now have max happiness by default

-Combee and Salandit's gender ratio are now 100% female, so those who want a Vespiquen or Salazzle don't have to reset until they find a female Combee/Salandit

-Portal Grunts are now called Portal Agents, which I think fits Team Portal's stylishness

-Since episode 3 and a Half and episode 4 were two different folders on my computer, instead of doing all of this twice I just decided to upload ep 4. (the reason they were two different folders was so I wouldn't need to delete and re-type the notepad files like the wild Pokemon list) The thread still says 3 and a Half because as the sprites are still being worked on it's not an official release. I did update the ep 4 trainer sprite pictures to what they looked like when Palletite posted a sprite progress picture on May 5:

The reason there are no Sea Star trainers shown above is because they're recolor edits I did of Staryu, since Staryu was the closest fit for them.

If you want to wait until the official release to see the fully completed sprites in-game, then you could play up until round 4 of the tournament.

Did you ever add any other Gen 7 ability to the list or are you still working them out?

Still working out, though I could possibly look at Rejuvenation's scripts and see if the ones I don't have will work in Spork.

I finished playing the newest version just now. I really enjoyed all of the added battles and added pokemon. I also like that you covered the explanation behind ultra beasts. God bless life orbs in this version as well.

One part in particular struck me as strange:

Spoiler

I felt a bit disappointed after beating Valentine Starmie. All I really seemed to obtain from defeating a level 80 enemy was a turtwig, whereas earlier events yielded more powerful pokemon and useful items. As for the item part, maybe adding a rare candy or two could help?

I also noticed some more strange things happening in and out of battles. I'm not sure if these are bugs, but I'd like to report them anyways:

Spoiler

Emergency exit on enemy golisopod did not activate at all, through both passive and active damage.
Topsy turvy from an opposing malamar displayed a message that my Celesteela turned into a ghost type.
Gen 7 pokemon give out curiously low exp figures. Several of Ivan's gen 7 pokemon all (my pokemon all level 57) gave me 1095 exp.
Classrooms on top floor of Sea Star School behave strangely: Teachers stand in the middle of the room. Trying to enter classrooms anyways allows for a few steps north, followed by invisible walls.

I'm looking forward to episode 5!

One of the rewards for that was supposed to be a Weakness Policy. Did you find it in the cave?

That being said, I'm still trying to think of a reward for ep 5's holiday Pokemon. It seems like most held items are available through some means by this point.

Assuming it was Brutus's Golisopod, did its Sitrus Berry activate? If so, the Sitrus Berry might be overriding Emergency Exit. Topsy Turvy sounds like it has the effect of Trick or Treat. I've noticed that too about Gen 7 Pokemon which confused me, but I always forget to make a note of it. I'll do so now.

Those are actually students on the upper floor. The classrooms aren't supposed to be accessible, but being able to walk through the door is a passability error. I'll make the doors non-passable.

My bad! I forgot about the weakness policy. That's a consumable item though. As you pointed out about held items, I don't feel that it really stacks up to items such as life orbs, leftovers and assault vests. Brutus's golisopod was one of those golisopod I'm referring to, but I recall encountering another trainer's golisopod (I think at the market) who also did not switch out after being weakned. I don't think they had a sitrus berry?

So I finished Episode 4, so far so good!

I noticed a text error after fighting Ivan, there was a phrase in one of the sentences that said "/PN" I guess that was for Player Name I'm assuming.

Also I saw the bug mentioned earlier about the 2nd Floor classrooms not being able to be accessed, but you already answer that above.

I have a question: there are a lot of rocks in the entrance of the Sea of Knowledge and "the path will only open to the strongest trainer's Poliwag".

Should I bring a Poliwag and the place will open? Or that will be accessible during a future episode?

Thanks for the Ultra Beasts by the way :D

\PN is for player name, yeah. That's a postgame sidequest at the Sea of Knowledge.[/SPOILER]

I need help. I just beat the gym in Norall city, and I went to heal at the pokemon center - After I healed, the game froze, gave the "Script is hanging. Game will restart message", saved, and shut down. I restarted the game and found that my character will not move at all. I can't even open the menu - none of the buttons will work, but when I first start up the game (before entering the game), I can interact with the options and change them. After I enter the game, the music will still play, but I am not able to move nor can I open up the menus. Does anyone know how I can fix this?

I've experienced the "Script is hanging" issue at random times in various fangames. Usually everything is okay after the game restarts, but this sounds strange... can you send me your save file so I can take a look at and see if I can find what's wrong?
