Well for the characters that isn't the host, we all got pms about the battle and we practically knew the rewards and penalties but sort of the outcome. All we need to do is submit our moveset, and agreed to the "terms" or that how it went for me.

Uh, might I just say that a host performing a battle like that is rather strange. Why not allow the players to go about it as is? Surely that would be more enjoyable for all?

I was actually waiting for Ursa Maior to jump in on the battle when the battle between those four would start. I did not expect it to be in one post. Well, whatever then. Ignore whatever I said just now.

The battle system is flawed, that much is granted. but Yash and I are talking about alternatives. so until we think of something that is fool proof we will stick the the current system until a better one is made

Um...isn't just starting the battle and making it happen in several posts better? That every player controls the moves of their own character? That would also make more sense, since now it almost looked like the battle ended in about six seconds.

I'm with Bibs on this one.

If you allow the players more freedom and you can trust that freedom will not be abused it'll be a much more enjoyable experience for all. You could employ a system like the Ymora RP where every fight is done in a separate thread as announced to be recapped in the main IC. It allows both smooth story progression and fights for the RPers to experience.

Heh it pays to scavenge through the bodies of the aftermath. Let my main search and leave my alt hidden behind a tree because of reasons. (Hint: leaving her to be kidnapped or sommat)

Also, there is a character called Darius.

Darius... Oh my own feels, that one better not die.

Posting the battle in one post conserves space on the chapter I plan to bring chapter 1 to an end soon and start up the next Chapter, but if youd like I could just have the two parties discuss how their fight went and just post it that way.

In the end, space in an RP is never an issue friend. You can have one RP lasting 10 pages or one that lasts upwards of 100 or more. Of course I don't know the specific mechanics you have but like I said, a new topic may be good to separate the pure fights and the story.

Oh you don't have to worry about that. I don't think that I will have Darius die any time soon... or at all, really.

Yes I'm planning on making an archive for past battles. but like I said. a better system is being worked on. just sit tight

He has been doing well so far, so that's a good choice. Keep it up, Yash!

Thanks man.. And yes I feel we need to make a few changes to all the rules.. No issues though.. It will take a little while but we will work out the kinks.. I'm kinky..

I'm going to work out something like this with the multiple posts..

Guys I know there is a whole issue with the systems.. And we need to have some stuff worked out before hand.. So once this chapter is over we will have the new frame work ready.. Bare with us on this one..

I usually don't intrude in other people's RPS, but the solution to this is simpler than you think. I pretty much just designed one battle a chapter in the FE thing I did and things seemed to flow rather smoothly whenever I was constantly posting. Instead of trying to make recaps of battlefields, it might be better to separate this into a barracks section and a battlefield section.

I think the big thing you guys need to rethink is the battleground itself tbh. Does it all take place in some barren wasteland in the middle or does the land vary depending on what kingdom it's closer too (aka Home turf) giving one side the advantage. The other thing I'm not sure about is if the goal is conquest or just friendly battles.

Each kingdom seeks domination, but their philosophies are different. I will say what they are in the next chapter.

I worded that conquest part rather horribly. I'm more referring the consequences of the battle. What happens if the Sky team beats the Water Team in a battle? Do they gain land or is it more bragging rights?

Philosophies mean little when it comes to war (doesn't mean you can't use them). In conquest type games, battles take place on a random location, and the player who wins gains that area (and perhaps some players to their side). The goal is often to take the king down as fast as possible so that they can take full control of the kingdom. In a more friendly battle game, the outcome of a single battle doesn't mean much, but the number of victories will eventually determine the winning team. Think of this one more as how sports teams play off against each other.

A big one I've wondered is where the kingdoms are exactly. Like a map of this place would be much appreciated, because my duo Gengar and Latias are just roaming around, but the Gengar finds a writhing soldier willing to cooperate on the location. Like how would I go about that, like where to go, and why, and maybe directions.

Posted

If I can flag down an artist I could have them make an image of the map. as for the conquest part. they take control of the kingdom. but they have to "Defeat" the leaders and not "Subdue"

Posted

I can make a map! :3

then by all means feel free, try and make it HUGE though as there a a lot of locations yet to be introduced

I was thinking how about having individual threads for each Kingdom and a common one for interactions outside the Capital of the kingdoms? That way it would de-clutter the main thread and also make it easier to read.. Plus any interactions like the request for an alliance could be shown in both the threads of the different kingdoms..

maybe, but that would just clutter the forum

Er...I'm a bit mixed on this idea. Three topics I don't see as an issue, but for six I think you might want to make sure everyone around here is okay with that because that's a lot of threads appearing on the front page. As long as tags are used, clutter is far from being a problem. Separating the battles is more to keep the flow going instead of clutter. (Also, that'd be a ton of pointless jumping for people who want/need to read them all).
