  1. I whole-heartedly agree. That, to me, is what Pokemon is mostly about. My most recent playthrough I randomized 5 Pokemon and then as my 6th I used the mystery egg. I wound up with Lopunny(non-mega), Poliwrath, Midnight Lycanroc, Rotom (no form), Gengar and from mystery egg I got Rockruff lol, so I did Dusk Lycan. Going through the game start to finish with 6 mons is really cool and gives you a pretty close relationship with your team and having the devise strategies and odd ways to use your mons made it a lot of fun. Also play on Set-mode as well as not allowing myself any Items during battles. It's just more fun that way. Great job on completing the game, congrats. I'll have a think about that last spot. Aerodactyl to me seems out of place if you're not using it's Mega. I don't feel non-mega Aerodactyl is worth it in my opinion. Off the top of my head like you mentioned yourself, a Rotom. Though, I think I would go for Wash, not Fan. Gives you access to Water-type attacks and it'll be great when Volt Switch finally becomes available. Also Defog and access to Screens.
  2. You could look for a bulky support with access to Tailwind or Sticky Web for some speed control, teach it Sunny Day and add Typhlosion to your roster, it's Eruption under Sunny Day does insane damage and with Tailwind/Sticky Web you can do some crazy sweeps. And since Charizard is Flying it's your only big weakness to Ground, that just means you need to cover Electric and Rock weakness. Togekiss could be an option with your Garchomp to take care of Electric types. Wish, Sunny Day, Tailwind, Dazzling Gleam move-set for pure utility could be interesting. Teach Sunny Day to your Charizard also. Starters / Chomp / Togekiss / Typhlosion? Some of these have a slow start, but Charmeleon can take you a long way early-game with a bit of support and the level cap ramps up quick enough for the others to catch up, I think. Garchomp covers Electric weakness and Togekiss covers Fairy weakness. Blastoise and Typhlosion reists their Ice weakness, a bulky Blastoise purely to cover Ice weakness and lend some support could be very useful. Then that just leaves a big Rock-type weakness, so I guess the Lycanroc-twins could prove problematic, as well with their Solrock/Lunatone combo. Garchomp does resist it but I don't know if that's enough? Venusaur is neutral and does SE damage which is good, so I guess you might be able to lean on him and Blastoise to get you through those fights. Blastoise also has access to Flash Cannon when you get to the move relearner, perfect for right before Serra. I guess alternative could be a Sylveon, who happens to be a favourite of mine (after Umbreon ha): doesn't have the Ice nor the Rock weakness and it's Steel weakness is covered and the rest of your team is neutral to Poison, so you're good. Also gives you access to Screens, Heal Bell, Wish, proper Toxic stall and Baby-Doll Eyes something that is incredibly useful throughout Reborn. Potentially some Swagger shenanigans. And also packs a wallop with Pixilate Hyper Voice. Also some Cute Charm stuff to be tried out. You're losing out on the Tailwind potential but I think that's okay. Another alternative could be a Steel-type. Like Bronzong. with Levitate to counter the Ground weakness. Resists all the things you don't like including Dragon and Fairy to cover Garchomp and it's weaknesses are covered, except for Dark, but that's okay. Gives you access to Gyro Ball and learns Sunny Day. Metagross is there too. Another personal favourite of mine is Whimsicott. Has Prankster and really good support. Also potential for some proper SubSeed/Protect/Toxic shenanigans. But has the Ice weakness.. Lastly, if you're feeling experimental, there is Lopunny. Check out it's Sp.D and it has access to Magic Coats which is suuuuper useful especially in the glass factory, has access to Fighting-type attacks to break the Rocks and you can teach it Sunny Day. I used this on my last run through Reborn. You can use it offensively early game as it has great Attack but non-Mega falls off, so you switch it up and take advantage of it's awesome defense and use it as a support. Also has access to Entrainment fun. Normal-typing is also pretty advantageous. Genuinely not a bad pick for a support. Having said all of that I would go for Sylveon personally.
  3. It's a good strategy but unreliable, Mareanie is part of mystery egg so you don't always get it.
  4. Common candies aren't cheating :D Would classify debugging EVs as cheating though, at least before friendship berries and power items. What's permadeath mean in this context?
  5. It's definitely doable with 6 mons. You already have the makings of a Sunny Day team. Solar Power Charizard and Chlorophyll Venusaur would definitely be strong, so add in a good Drought user to activate them. Ninetails or Torkoal. On second thought, I would probably find a strong bulky support and teach it Sunny Day instead is what I would do. Then I would look into your Electric weakness and either get a Lightning Rod user or a solid Ground-type.
  6. Make use of the elemental seed when she uses Dive. Changes your typing to Water. Just looking at your team I feel like Raichu, Snorlax and Blastoise looks like your weakest links. Imo, even Primarina I think is too slow to keep up. Also too fragile on Amaria's field. Get some Grass types, Mega Venusaur is available to you. Tangela is very strong. Where exactly is it the fight is going wrong for you? Which of her members is causing you problem and which of your members isn't pulling it's weight? Swift Swim users are also very strong. Poliwrath is one I recently used and it did a lot of work for me against her. Some strong Electric types with the Elemental Seed on Underwater Field can end up sweeping the fight for you. The best, as well as easiest strategies, is to use the field effects against the gym leaders and to your own advantage. The damage ramp-up in this game is very unbalanced and you can abuse certain fields, water surface and UW being some of them, to a pretty disgusting degree. So make use of the Elemental Seed when the field is changed to UW and make use of Swift Swim users. Alternatively is to change the field altogether. You can use Blizzard and freeze the field and then use the appropriate seeds for the new field to your advantage. +2 Speed from Elemental Seed on Icy Field can allow you to sweep pretty easily with some strong Electric types.
  7. Whichever Nature fits the battle you're about to go into is recommended. If you know you need the extra speed the that's what you do. But in any case, if speed is the issue then it's really just about who sends out their Excadrill last. Whoever does that, wins the match-up because of Magical Seed Shield effect. +1 is most definitely going to OHKO the other Exca.
  8. Go farm the repeatable trainer(s) at the Grand Hall for some easy cash and experience.
  9. Don't see why it wouldn't work. But honestly outside of Excadrill you don't really need Sandstorm being active.. Hippowdon, Excadrill, Krook (intimidate), Swampert, Quagsire are all good picks to use against her. You could grab a Fire-type against her Scizor because of it's 4x weakness, Fire-type moves are the most effective option against it. Would recommend Seeded Arcanine as the Intimidate + Morning Sun allows for a pretty clean switch-in. Flare Blitz / Morning Sun / Extreme Speed / Close Combat is what I would recommend. Would also serve as a solid starter against her Sandslash. Don't think you need more than 1 Close Combat for it. Wouldn't seed it if you start with it, though. It dies immediately after when she sends in her Excadrill. Swampert can handle Klefki and Aegislash. So could Hippo. Krook can deal with Aegislash, seed it and it can deal with others as well. I would recommend getting Lucario. Will be great against her Empoleon, Sandslash and Excadrill. Seed it and go nuts right off the bat. Flygon is also a strong pick to deal with her Excadrill, Klefki and Aegislash. Just abuse Magical Seed in this battle and it won't be too difficult a fight for you. Lead with Seeded Lucario to take down Sandslash, if she swaps in Exca then you swap in Max Def Smooth Rock Hippo, then swap in your Seeded Exca, give it Jolly + max atk+spe and take hers out, if she swaps in Scizor you could swap in Seeded Arcanine. She'll likely go Empoleon, so Close Combat it and then swap in Lucario when Arcanine faints. Then it's just Klefki and Aegislash left.
  10. I don't think it's possible with only one pokemon without either trading/debugging moves and items onto it before they become available (which is kind of cheating..) or changing pokemon along the way (which isn't the same thing) so I don't think it's possible to do unless you allow yourself to take a few liberties. It's definitely a very cool idea.
  11. You have a plethora of options against Shelly. Fake Out the Rain Dance turn 1 and you have super effective Fire moves for a good while. Then swap it out and keep it alive to Fake Out Anorith later on to give you a turn to deal with it. Persian learns Power Gem. Dugtrio, Sandslash are both available. Fearow is available, too. Growlithe will do good work. Emolga is brilliant, too. It has access to Acrobatics and Encore already, you should Encore the Rain Dance turn 1 and then Fake Out the Anorith when it comes out with a Meowstic or, if you get Male Meowstic set up Reflect against Anorith. Something as simple as Telluric Seed Growlithe with Meowstic start, Fake Out Illumise and start spamming Flame Burst. Then bring in Emolga with Acrobatics, Persian with Power Gem or Fearow with Aerial Ace. Dugtrio learns Sucker Punch and can help deal with Anorith if she gets her Rain Dance combo off later. I don't remember if there's a Link Stone available before Shelly, but if there is then you can get Golem and set up Stealth Rock, or wait until her Water-types are done for. Magcargo from the Arcade is available, too. Just make sure you deal with her Water-type attacls first. Ampharos has access to both Power Gem and Thunder Wave for you. Seaking is genuinely pretty strong too at this point in the game and it takes advantage of Shelly using Rain Dance. Have fun with a boosted 80 BP Waterfall. Stoutland is really strong early game, too. Get it to 36 and then back down to get Retaliate and you have a strong back-up, too. If you got Mareanie from the mystery egg you have access to Wide Guard, lol. Which one did you get from the mystery egg? Which one's your starter mon? You have so many options, just get creative my friend.
  12. iirc Flo always leads with her Hippowdon so you have an opening later on to take advantage of it and start sweeping, i.e Flo always start off with Yawn, so on the turn one of the opponents 'mons are sleeping you have a window to set yourself up with A. Ninetails into Aurora Veil into A. Sandslash sweep. You only need 1 Hailstorm with the item to prolong it, that's 6 turns for A. Sandslash to sweep behind an Aurora Veil. Even with that nature you will still outspeed most, if not all, of their teams. It will tear through a big portion of their mons on it's own if you abuse Slush Rush. Tailwind on Noivern is also a good choice, yeah. Would help you outspeed that Garchomp, too. I would still put in the effort and get your A. SS in the team. You have 2 mons right now that are kind of out of place, Delphox and Escavalier. The former is weak and you already have a Fire-type while the latter is too slow for the rest of your team whilst not providing great defense. Did you make changes to the rest of the teams move-sets? If you want to put in the effort, Rockruff on Route 4 is available and a Midnight or Dusk Lycanroc will be amazing throughout the rest of your playthrough. Vulpix is also available for a trade and regular Ninetails is an absolute powerhouse, and unlike Delphox it actually compliments your Arcanine with it's Sunny Day ability. If you need bulk I would suggest picking up a Gigalith. Anyways, good luck with it all.
  13. You have an A. Sandslash in your PC, make sure it has Slush Rush so you can take advantage of A. Ninetails Hail storm and allow you to sweep. Iron Head + Icicle Crash. Let's you deal with his Garchomp as well as a few others. I would probably replace that Delphox. You have aa total of 6 Fire-type attacks, teach your Arcanine Morning Sun instead of Fire Fang and teach it Close Combat or Extreme Speed instead of Flame Burst. Stick to Phys Attacks. Alternative strategy is to teach Trick Room to your Delphox and abuse Florinia's slow team as well as your Escavalier, but the rest of your team is quite speedy so I don't think so unless you replace a couple other members. I think the easiest is just to replace Delphox and start rolling with A. Sandslash. It will tear through big portions of the gauntlet, especially if you set up a Aurora Veil to protect it while it's sweeping during the Hailstorm.
  14. Most of your team is made up of late-game powerhouses that aren't available to you yet.. yeah, your team is pretty solid right now. Your movesets are a wreck. Teach your Blaziken Blaze Kick instead of Flare Blitz, get rid of Sky Uppercut and teach it Stone Edge or Thunder Punch. Blaziken is too frail for Drain Punch. You need to get in and do the damage then and there because it won't survive more than 1 or 2 hits. Teach it Protect when it's available to you, gives you a couple of free Speed Boosts and almost ensures you outspeed your opponent. Teach your Metagross a Psychic STAB instead of Hammer Arm. Give it Leftovers. Teach your Sylveon Hyper Voice instead of Moonblast, Pixilate makes it stronger. Teach it Wish instead of Iron Tail and then Heal Bell or Reflect/Light Screen instead of Echoed Voice. Give it Leftovers or Light Clay if you go for screens. Salamence I would teach Bulldoze, Dragon Claw, Roost, Dragon Dance and I would change the ability to Intimidate honestly. Give it a Life Orb when available. Your team is full of strong powerhouses and Intimidate would give yoau a bit of support and also allow you to setup Dragon Dance with less risk. Your team is more than capable of blowing up Reborn. Good luck.
  15. First, it's always better to have a rotating team. It just is. Second, if you're wanting to take your time and enjoy the game, it sounds like it's your first run through, so why not just have a rotating roster based on which gym leader you're facing? It is entirely doable with a team of 6 pokemon. I personally recently finished a run with a randomly generated team of 5 + mystery egg, turned into Lycanroc, Lycanroc, Poliwrath, Lopunny (non-mega), Rotom (no form) and Gengar. Not a particularly balanced team.. just shows it's possible. If that's the route you want to take, then I suggest you look for mons with helpful abilities like Intimidate. Arcanine and/or Krookodile are strong users of that ability and will help you throughout the game. Krook will be available soon or you already have Arcanine. Intimidate coupled with strong sweepers with set-up will get you through the game without too big of a fuss. Bulk Up + Protect Blaziken alone will carry you for a long time. Add in another sweeper + a Screen or Aurora Veil setter and you're golden for the rest of the game. Alternatives are strategies like Trick Room, Swift Swim Rain Dance teams..
  16. The download link is no longer working - is there any chance for a new file to be uploaded so those of us who haven't tried the Redux run could get the chance to enjoy what seems to be quite a brilliant piece of work?
  17. It's a trade event in Chrysolia Forest. Outside Spinel Town. I would keep Arcanine. Intimidate and Fire STAB is so very strong. Give it Elemental Seed against Amaria and switch it in when it's Underwater Field, if I remember you get Wild Charge before that and it will be a very useful asset in that fight. You don't need to worry too much against AI battles, you know what you're facing and even so, Reborn AI battles is all about damage. If you want A. Ninetails, Snow Warning ability + Light Clay item, Aurora Veil / Freeze-Dry / Hail / Hypnosis is the move-set I would recommend. Max HP / Max Speed EVs with Timid nature to give it bulk and make sure you can outspeed to get either your Hypnosis or A-Veil off before you're hit. Freeze-Dry over Blizzard because it's super effective against Water. Hypnosis allows you to get Veil off and then swap to your sweeper without a fuss. You could have Dazzling Gleam instead of Hail if you want. Your strategy would be to use it a support. Set up Veil, then get your sweepers in and either set up Swords Dances and start sweeping - or just plain start sweeping. I think I would replace A. Muk if I was you.
  18. I like to run Spikes on my Greninja for the Ground typing, also helps a lot if you're good enough to predict electric attacks. Would also use Poison Touch on Muk, as well as Shadpw Sneak, it's always nice with a priority move. Like the guy above me wrote, Flamethrower on Arcanine is just not a smart choice unless you go mixed attacker, and that's just not utilizing Arcanine, in my opinion. You also already have a STAB steel type attacker with Lucario, so no need for Iron Head, go for Morning Sun and give your good dog a Leftovers. He'll be a happy dog. And again I agree with the above poster, you have a big weakness to Ground attacks. However I wouldn't replace Muk, I would replace Golurk. Right now his moves are covered by Lucario (fighting) and can be covered by Muk (Ghost). I would instead look into perhaps a Flygon, gives you access to Earthquake as well as pure immunity to Ground attacks to cover your Muk and Lucario. Will come in handy against upcoming Garchomp battle in the gauntlet at Agate City. Alternative could be Swampert who will also give you access to Stealth Rock, a move that is very handy in the upcoming battles and also gives you a very strong defensive member with maxxed HP and Def EVs. Or perhaps a strong Grass-type to resist Ground attacks. Tangrowth with Regenerator is very strong and a solid support. Other mons to consider: A. Ninetails: Aurora Veil let's you set-up Swords Dance and other boosts for a sweep. Also gives you super-effective damage against Ground types as well as helps you deal with Garchomp, plus Freeze-Dry against Amaria. I would actually recommend Ninetails more than any other, Aurora Veil could keep your Vikavolt alive long enough to sweep with Thunderbolt against Amaria and do the same for your Lucario against Hardy. Aurora Veil is very strong, so make use of it my friend! Perhaps consider a Mon with speed and/or hazard control. In the glass factory gauntlet they make use of Sticky Web, so something that either counters that or allows you to retain speed control would be useful. I recently made use of a support Lopunny with Magic Coat in my last run (non-mega Lopunny) and it worked quite beautifully. That's just one example, though. Probably wouldn't use Lopunny with your team. Lastly I would replace Brick Break on Muk with Thunder Punch. You already have Lucario fighting STAB as well as strong Close Combat on Arcanine. You don't need a third fighting type attack until you face off against Hardy where it will come in handy, but Thunder Punch will help you out a lot more against Amaria first, as well as Staraptor in the Agate City battles.. or just replace Thief, it honestly isn't going to be very useful against AI battles. They're very damage-centric and trying fancy stuff in gym battles more often than not you just outplay yourself when a much simpler strategy would have been more effective.
  19. So I am starting a new run through Reborn using a team of 6 consisting of some of my personal all-time favrouties, among them is of course, Pikachu. So I was wondering if anyone either knew of an already made sprite or if someone would be so kind as to create one of Pikachu wearing Ash' cap from the anime. I would very much appreciate it, thank you for your time!
  20. Eh, Blaziken can blast through most of Reborn, Greninja has a few weak points still I would say and is also weaker early game, even Torchic gets really useful at the first gym.
  21. I would change your Toxapex's Scald into Infestation to make it more annoying. You're not utilizing the burn from Scald anyways and Infestation can get frustrating as hell. Then I would replace Meowstic with Mega Kanga: Fake Out, Power-Up Punch, Sucker Punch, Type-Coverage Punch Fake Out helps you utilize your Toxic Spikes and Toxic status and it gives you a very strong win condition, something I feel like your team is lacking. Annoying teams are cool but you still need a win condition outside of poison damage, Mega Kanga gives you that and works beautifully with Toxic Spikes because of Fake Out. Having said that, I don't think staller teams work very well in Reborn. Your team, with a couple changes would do good in PvP battles. However, the Reborn gym leaders, while not because they're more difficult, would be a problem for you. Their strategy is to simply shove offense boosted by advantageous field effects in your face. They're not difficult to figure out; they don't care about hazards, they don't use status and they don't care if you do. They just pump powered up damage in your face all live long day. Which is.. pretty damn sad (sorry Ame). And looking at your team both Adrienn as well as Titania would be big walls for you. Both of which nullify your entire strategy and will burn through you before you KO them, because you have zero offensive output and in no way enough defense to last. Charlotte might also be an issue, to be honest. Hippowdon and Clefable might do some work, but other than that I'm not sure how well you would fare against her without better support moves. Your Ferro and Meowstic are going to fall over. She has an answer to Toxapex in her Rotom, Darmanitan and Delphox, Maybe her Ninetails too, I think it has Extrasensory. Even Hippo, without better support like a Wish user will definitely fall. Your Light Screen + Sandstorm might be enough to survive up to 3 hits. Maybe with some smart play you can make it through her, but I honestly doubt it. Her offensive output is absolutely incredible on that field, which means you have to make a choice with Meowstic, change field or set up screen. Either way, it only gets 1 turn before it falls. You'll struggle with that team going through the Reborn battles because and again, as sad as this is to say, the AI battles are so very centered around offense and if you don't match it, because of the field effects, you will struggle big time. I love staller teams, too. Eviolite Chansey will always have a special place in my heart. Regenerator Slowbro and a Foul Play defensive Umbreon are some of my favourites to use.. it just isn't worth it the same way in Reborn unless you create a team for a specific field, like Underwater field that literally nullifies entire type specific Pokemon (i.e fields that are fucking broken and poorly designed).
  22. You're right! I forgot you had to fight Galvatula and catch it, sorry. That's too bad, I really like that mon. Sharpedo could come in handy against Amaria in the UW / Water Surface fields. Reading through the rest of the thread: Gastly is either mystery egg or available after E19 is done. Thunderbolt is actually available in the game right now although through a very difficult puzzle, I can't remember if this is before or after Hardy, but in either case pretty much at the end of the game. I wanted to complete the game at least once myself so I did the pokedex quest and everything else, Scyther was the worst thing and I actually ended up asking for a trade for it, lol. Anyways, it was pretty fun, but these days I debug most things. There's also the Starter Egg quest that gives you TM Shadow Ball and other goodies you could look into if you haven't already! If you feel like, you should record your gym battles and other big battles, like the gauntlets at both Amaria's place as well as the glass factory and lastly at Agate, I imagine I wouldn't be the only one interested in following your way through the game. :)
  23. What a cool idea! I would get your Growlithe going, Intimidate Arcanine is very strong throughout Reborn. I don't feel like Sharpedo does a whole lot until you get TM Protect and you're able to actually make use of Speed Boost, Reborn is too aggressive otherwise. Medicham is available at Apophyll Beach, with Huge Power, it was a very strong pokemon for me during my Psychic mono run, so consider that. Joltik into Galvantula could come handy with Sticky Web, speed control is always a good thing. Typhlosion, get Cyndaquill from 7th street. Eruption will carry you a long way. He will single-handedly take down Charlotte if you max Speed and Sp.A and give him Timid, because of the field effect you will destroy, even more so if you pair it with Sunny Day Ninetails, who is also destructive on it's own. Loads of cool options.
  24. I'm mostly surprised you got good trades still, lol. Last time I tried I got a bunch of Kricketots named "LOLOLOL" and stuff. I was about to throw some bred shinies in, but that threw me off the idea. The wonderful thing here is that it's your game. Play it however you want, as long as you're enjoying it, having fun, then that's awesome. Also, if I remember there's a challenge runs centered around Wonder Trading. The idea sounds pretty cool, to be honest. Having done a number of playthroughs, challenge runs and mono runs I'm currently running through it using a team of 6 of my all-time favourites. Have fun with the game :)
  25. He's at Kiki. There's next to nothing available to him in the game; he has no control over natures, no move tutors nor relearner; no access to an abundance of ability capsules, barely any TMs and I think fair to assume they're around level cap.. The biggest factor this early in the game is the types and abilities of the mons in your team.. Anyways, there's another thread talking about Kiki with some good advice. Ghost types can and will win you the gym easily if you play it right. Flying types like Emolga and Fearow can do some really good work for you, too. Emolga has access to Acrobatics already, a very strong move this early in the game where items are of less importance. Talonflame is available, too. And very strong. Gives you a Fire type advantage over Kiki's Lucario and iirc, Talonflame also has access to Tailwind at that point, which is a wonderful setup to gain speed control. WIth your current team the fight should be very doable..
