  1. Hmmm, Heliolisk is kind of redundant as I already have strong water counter, Jolteon/Rotom-fan could be something to consider though. Aerodactyl has the advantage of potential tailwind which will probably be super useful vs. Heather and Bennett/Laura duo. I can only imagine bug/grass team facing tailiwind-boosted mega-houndoom's heat waves :)))
  2. Finally! After 3rd try (first 2 kinda bored me and i wanted to try new mons so i ditched those playthroughs) I managed to beat the game and defeat Rocky. Despite what people here are saying, I used solid 6 mons team throughout the whole game with no rotations in the team (except, of course, changing weaker mon to a stronger one once it was made available) and it did work out quite well. I wanted to share my team and some geenral thoughts regarding their usefullness throughout the game. 1. Gogoat @ Leftovers Nature: adamant Ability: Sap sipper EV spread: 252 HP, 128 sp. def, 128 atk - Horn Leech - Earthquake - Bounce - Bulk up The real OG. Gogoat has been on the team the longest, ever since finding its egg in Malchos Forest. I really don't undestand the hate Gogoat gets as a very pokemon in general. One of the very few viable pure grass types, it gets all the best moves it needs to function and has 530ish BST (although high sp. atk is a waste). As it is a tank, which have hard time in Reborn due to ridiculous levels of power achieveable due to fields, sometimes it had hard time finding usability in fights against hyperoffensive teams. The EV spread aimed to further reinforce its specially defensive side while relying on bulk up + horn leech to muscle through physical threats. Sometimes it worked, sometimes it failed as it was switched in to eat up earthquake but then died to super effective coverage move and did not have time to recover HP via horn leech and get the strategy rolling. Sometimes it worked perfectly as I managed to 6:0 Luna with Gogoat after some bulk ups set up vs. Bisharp (I know, Luna is pretty easy, but still) or wall some threat to the death whilev setting up 2-3 bulk ups while regenrating HP via horn leech in the meantime. I would say that you definitely shouldn't cross Gogoat out as it is a really strong grass type which is available pretty early on (although grass type usefullness in early game is questionable...). 2. Houndoom @ Houndoomite Nature: Timid Ability: Flash fire EV spread: 252 sp. atk, 252 speed - Flamethrower - Dark pulse - Will-o-wisp / sucker punch - Nasty plot This guy is also nuts. Great typing with strong options throughout the game, finding use in many many fights. Reason why Charlotte cries in her room every night (flash fire + nasty plot + flamethrower OHKOed both Ninetales and Delphox, consecutively :) ). Mixed movepool had to be run until Luna as crunch + sucker punch needed to hit hard before acquisition of dark pulse. But what it does with Houndoomite is really nasty. Mega Houndoom lead was the major carry in Glass Workstation gauntlet and the reason it took so few tries. Nothing can outpseed this dude (bar alola-Sandslash on hail, but that thing doesn't carry EQ so after pitiful attempt to strike me down with rock slide, it got charred by flamethrower) in the gauntlet, making it a very effective sweeper. Unfortunately, had to be sacrificed in final fight vs. Solaris to soak up EQ so was rather useless there. I have not found many opportunities to use nasty plot however, as general frailty of Houndoom favours rather a hit-hard-and-die playstyle. Despite that, it was a major carry after getting mega ring and I highly recommend to use it on your team if you don't have a mega evolution covered yet. 3. Lucario @ various times depending on the the fight Nature: Jollu Ability: Justified EV spread: 252 atk, 252 speed - Drain punch - Meteor Mash - Extreme speed - Swords dance I have been using Medicham since Kiki as this mon's types are super useful in every fight since Kiki up to Charlotte (and Blake). That guy was a monster and didn't think that any fighting type could outmatch it, but Lucario did. Incredbile usability and although drain punch has much less BP than close combat, it regen side proved extra useful to sustain it and keep on hitting. Carried many fights, especially in both gauntlets, Titania and Adrienn (poor Adrienn, that Mega-Mawile never even used a move). Notably, Lucario hard carried fight against Luna in the gauntlet, allowing me to lose only Electivire and be able to fight 5v12 against Radomus and Serra (funniest thing was umbreon trying to do any damage to Lucario with foul play, ending in +2 from justified and leading to OHKO of Gothilette with meteor mash. I felt sorry for that poor black fox, it was just standing there, looking at lucario, then at Luna with "what do yoy expect me to do against that, Woman?" look.) Shame that i couldn't smack Blake with it but oh well. It will be the Mega of choice once we get our hands on Lucarionite, especially considering suspected fairy/psychic/normal types to be fought in Elite Four fights. Probably will be crucial to success in the ending fights. Highly recommended for any team. 4. Garchomp @ wide lens Nature: Jolly Ability: Rough skin and occasionally sand veil (on sand fields, vs. Solaris and Hrdy) EV spread: 252 atk, 252 speed - Dragon rush - Stomp tantrum - Stone edge - Poison jab I don't think wthere's a need to introduce this beast. Absolutely amazing stats with perfect coverage moves. Wide lens are preferred as locking myself in outrage was not something I wanted to do. This monster OHKOed so many mons since its acquistion that it's not even funny. Absolue beast in Glass workstation, against Solaris and especially against Hardy (seed + sand veil + 90% accurate rock slide, you get what I'm saying). I have been using Flygon up until the desert and was having hard time decidindg which dragon should I use once Garchomp becomes available. Decided to go with Garchomp and it paid well. I am still a bit concerned if lack of DD will be a defining factor in fight against Saphira as +2/+2 DD on Flygon could just sweep her team. We will see. 5. Mimikyu @ Mimikium-Z Nature: jolly Ability: Disguise EV spread: 252 atk, 252 speed - Play rough - Shadow claw - will-o-wisp - T-wave / Pain split / other status move depending on situation I was very lucky to get Gastly as mystery egg and have been using Gengar up until the desert. Very good mon, however I found its usefullness diminishing as the game progressed with strong decline after Samson. Was kind of worried that I'm losing my sole fairy-resistant mon on the team and we will see how it will affect suspected matchups against fairies in Elite Four. Nevertheless, mimikyu as support is brilliant. My advice: never try to use Mimkyu as a hard hitter. With all 3 available status moves (toxic, will-o-wisp, t-wave) and its disguise ability Mimikyu makes for a perfect lead, capable of shutting down lead threats or setting up favourable conditions for a fight. Amplified rock + trick room made Amaria significantly easier, as my mons were slower on the field, allowing them to OHKO before being hit by her water types. Very useful strategy against Amaria. Moreover, it shut down Hardy's gigalith with will-o-wisp, promptiing him to switch giglatih with ace-Lycanroc. As giglatih has already been targetted by tantrum from Garchomp, you understand what happened. Also, Z-powered play rough staright up OHKOed solaris Mega Garchomp before it could say "what is this poor excuse of a rag gonna do against such a OP dragon monster as myself". I suspect further strong play vs. Saphira and Elite four with z-play rough from behind Disguise to kill any OP dragons that might be thrown in our faces. Incredibly useful mon and one of best support mons available, even despite low BST. 6. Aerodatyl @ Choice band? Nature: adamant Ability: Pressure EV spread: 252 atk, 252 speed - Fly - rock slide / stone edge - aqua tail - ice fang Most recent addition to the team and has not seen much action. I have been using an electric every since start of the playthrough with Zebstrika being first, then swapped to Elektross and finally changed to Electivire in Calcenon. I really need something against flyings as we will be facing flying-type Heather. Electivire has been really good and helped secure important fights throughout his usage, however I found him to be most sacrifice-able in tough fights before I could switch-in something stronger freely. electivire has not been very useful in last stretches of the game and I feel like Aerodactyl will be a better choice, rounding up team's coverage with flying, rock and water-type attacks. Moreover, I am swapping ground weakness to ground immunity, which I hope to find useful as I already have 2 mons weak to this type of attacks. I am not complety sold on Aerodactyl, though, so any recommendations for final team slot are welcome. Noteworthy, I have been playing the whole game on 'set" option, not allowing myself to change mons between new pokemon sent by other trainers. I highly recommend everyone to play on this setting as it feels like cheating otherwise. I really don't like grinding as the game is supposed to be fun and not a chore so i tried to set my team in such a way that a single 6 mons team can take on anything the world might throw at you. I am very happy to see that come to fruition, but it did cost me some hard thinking and changing many moves between major fights to prepare for what I will be facing. Having said that, seeing surprised Amaria scraping swampert of the wall after trick-room boosted, snowball-boosted and bulked up gogoat's horn leech was really satisfying. I was screaming something along those lines to the screen - "how do you like that, you manipulative, field-abusing psycho?" The challenge of the game is amazing, and I have been devising crazy strategies to overcome certain mons or fights with OP fields. Certainly one of my favourite games of all time. Have to also say, the dialogues and narrative in glass workstation was brilliant. When we found out that the guantlet was us fighting against our friends while being hypntoised was really surprising and very well written. My favourite moment of the game so far. It was a hell of a ride to the end of E18. Kudos to you, Reborn Team! Just wanted to share my general thoughts on the game, my playthrough, and hopefully create some sort of a little discussion :)
  3. Just press S and it toggles autorun. You have to modify the buttons in joiplay so that you can actually press the appropriate button (change option accessible through top drop-down menu - just look for the arrow down in the uppermost part of your screen). As for fast forward, check my post above. Cheers!
  4. Hey, just wanted to share my findings. For some reason, Joiplay doesn't recognise alt and shift. However, if you change those buttons to anything normal like numbers or letters it works without any issue. I changed speed-up from alt to Z and the fast forward button works (just remember to unbind from "action" so that Z doesn't have both functions as it won't work). Same with registered - changed from shift to 1 and it works perfectly, you can rearrange your backpack and use key items. It probably rotates the puzzle in circus as well. BTW, you can also enable debug mode if needed. Just download it from the thread with debug mode files and replace appropriate files in the folder on your android device. The game should detect the changes and enable debug mode. Just don't forget to manually close the application and restart it so it reloads the game & files in it. Of course, don't forget to back up the files in case it somehow messes up the game. To any moderator reading this - maybe update OP with this info so everybody can use registered items and fast forward as well Thanks @OP for the finding!! I stumbled upon this randomly while surfing internet yesterday and it changed my life. No more playing reborn on laptop - now I can enjoy it while on the train or standing in line somewhere. Inspired me to restart my reborn journey from scratch and create a new team. Nidorina as starter thanks to the debug mode, let's go! Amazing stuff
  5. As stated above, there probably won't be any update until weekend. However I was thinking today about final team and came up with a rough sketch of how I want it to look like. Here are my must picks and their roles: Lucario - physical setup sweeper Toxicroak - mixed attacker with sludge wave especially for one certain person... Scrafty - support stall with leftovers, intimidate, scary face, drain punch (or maybe HJK, we'll see) and knock off. What other mons should have a spot on the team? What roles should they have or particular movesets? I would love to hear your thoughts on that topic
  6. First of all, you cn get water pledge for Greninja after Corey and before Shelly (which would be a gread idea if you let het set up rain). Agreed, Ninja is a good all around starter so no worries there. Also, consider not evolving it until lv. 44 when it lerns bounce - a solid coverge move having in mind its water/dark typing. Yep, Hariyama is a very solid pick overall. However, it has disadvantage vs. Corey, Shelly, Shade, Cain and Aya in the early game, so take that into consideration. After Aya, fighters are very useful up until Agathe Circus. I personally recommend waiting a bit longer for a fighter and go for Toxicroak/Scrafty - theyre both very nice mons with great STAB combo. Croak comes with nice fight STAB drain punch, and Scrafty comes with egg move that you can reset untill you get the one you want - elemental punches, DDance, zen headbutt and possibly drain punch (last one bot confirmed) Camerupt is meh imo. There are much better fire types available such as Growlithe, Ponyta, Houndoom. Diggersby is a straight up beast with pretty much complete movepool only from leveling up/relearning. Gardevoir is a very nice pick. Crobat is also a nice mon overall as well I think that your team could use a support grass type

    I personally use Feraligatr in my current Reborn hardcore playthrough and agility actually comes in handy very often. If enemy outspeeds you, use agility and on next turn you go first. If you manage to KO your opponent's mon, then you are sure to also outspeed his next mon with that +2 speed that said, DDance is sooooo much better.

    In Reborn HM moves are treated the same as TM moves i.e. you can forget 'em just like a normal move.

T-Bolt, T-wave, Flash cannon and a move of your choice: - HP fire if you wanna go magnet pull, alhtough sand team should cover steels easily - Tri attack vs. electrics? although you don't need that coverage on sand team - You could go for signal beam cuz steel is somewhat a good counter vs. traditional grass-types (who don't carry steel-type coverage, and usually threaten sand teams). I'd go for either sturdy or analityc, not taking magnet pull since AI tends not to switch out and if it does it is in 90% of cases in your favour anyway.

    You can always download HM (TMX) mod which basically frees you from making your mons HM slaves. I am using this mod in all my playthroughs and it is just too convenient to pass up
  11. Nobody wants to help me with the gym fight Ok then, I'll handle it by myself. First up tho is Fern who is becoming increasingly annoying as we advance with our adventure... After healing up we went to face Florinia, the grass-type gym leader. Apparently, she tries to capitalise on sand-based arena instead of forest, which comes first to my mind when thinking about grass-types. Oh well, let's see what she can do. I decided to go with Sumo first as he is bulky & hard-hitting and Ame (via the telecom) adviced me to just hit hard and don't let her set up. Let's see if she was right! Next up will be our journey to the north of Peridot Ward - into Jasper and Beryl Wards. However, I fear that it won't happen sooner than saturday/sunday in the next week :/

    Also, if you want to have poison I recommend to return to byxbysion wasteland and find hidden black sludge there. Good recovery item for 'em. I cant remember exactly where it is but I am 100% sure that you can easily find answe to this soemwhere on the forum/youtube

    I used magneton in reborn hardcore playthrough and it was becoming a liability after Noel. Poor BST unfortunately, although nice movepool. If you want a reliable steel type I highly recommend escavalier

    Correct me if im wrong but as of episode 16 you cant get magnezone until very late game. Access to place where you evo magnezone has been postponed in ep. 16 Unfortunately, you prolly evo'ed roselia too early as she learns giga drain, toxic spikes, toxic and venoshock (via tm). Furthermore, you can breed sleep powder or leech seed on it fairly easily. Its a good spe def check + reliable spikes setter (imo). She definitely made my life easier in one of my reborn playthroughs. Also, imo, Braviary<Hawlucha - access to swords dance, roost, good STAB combination and awesome speed tier makes it a very threatening setup sweeper (or you can go for fetherdance/roost combo to render enemy attack useless and setup other mon on powerless physical attacker)
  15. After beating Julia we were asked to assist Florina in cleaning out the area of Obsidia as there is some weird vine infestation all over the place. It seems that the main all of the infestation comes from the local park. I wanted to investigate this lead further, however the street was torn apart and there was no clear way of passage. After talking with some locals they pointed me to Slums as the only way of getting through to the other side. However, Victoria was reluctant to go through there and wanted to test my strength whether I’ll be able to do so. After some soul-searching I managed to catch 2 more mons for my team. Let me introduce you to the new team members, Ajax and Sumo (I think that I'm gonna always try to catch/soft rest mons to the point where they have doable natures + IVs panchams were rly mean and every caught one had shitty EVs >.< Without further ado, let's proceed to the Slums. During exploration of Coralward we encountered a certain individual named Amaria, who was worried about Oshawott sitting on a patch of land across azruine Lake (how did it get in the first place???). Fortunately, Cain came to the rescue and after some inappropriate jokes challenged us to a battle alongside its new partner Osha. Even though I was in disadvantage, we managed to come out as the winners. We pushed further into the Obsidia ward only to fight out that the whole damage done was due to evil plotting of Team Meteor! There, we found out that behind all of this was some weird dude who had some kind of mental illness, schizophrenia? He claimed all the damage was done by this modified Tangrowth behind him, which was connected to some kind of big machinery and looked HUGE. After resolving the crisis in Obsidia Park we headed towards Onyx Trainser School in order to challenge Florinia. During some side questing & battling we picked 2 new evos for the guys Here's how the current team looks like. I think that with Van Damme evolved and Sumo being now Hariyama we won't have many problems with Rini. What do you guys think? Any pro tips against her? Or maybe some nice tricks? Who to send out vs. Florinia's Cacnea as lead? Would love to hear your ideas
  16. @Awesome_Onethey are. Along mankey they sum up to 3 wild mons available. Next one available is corey's croagunk after shelly. And pancham is rly nothing special :/ timburr's rock throw would help me rly well so thats why im asking
  17. I may be interested in Timburr since wild/event fighters available before Shelly amount to a whopping number of 3, and rock type coverage would be very useful. Any overpowered mons suchs hawlucha or gallade would be game-breaking. I am worried however that it would ruin the genuine feeling of pokemon reborn playthrough. I rejected all fighting starters on purpose. Riolu acts as a starter pokemon for this run - picking "another" starter would be contrary to the idea of the playthrough. I'm gonna try to beat Julia once again. I was thinking about utilising the strat proposed by Yagami (also, I will try post larger screenshots): However, I will try something else and try to capitalise on the power of acrobatics by using counter on Emolga I would very much like to hear what you think about this. Should I go for Timburr as my next pick or just stick to the mons available in-game?
  18. I was thinking about that strat as well. Set up on Helioptile which cant do much vs me as his attacks wont hurt me very much and I can counter glare with cheri berry and then hopefully land some crits with fury swipes on Emolga. I will see how I will tackle this issue
  19. Next up, teamed up with Fern, Florinia and Julia I swear to god, she tried to doom us all we managed to break through to command centre of Team Meteor’s base. Here, an unpleasant surprise awaited us with some high ranking officer wanting to take us down. Without time to prepare we were attacked – Julia and Florinia fought the officer while we, me and Fern, were challenged by duo called Aster & Eclipse. After the incident, Julia invited me to the gym to fight for a badge and went on her way like nothing happened you crazy b....Having obtained a certain very sweet addition to pokegear – field dex – from Florina, we went to the gym to face Julia hopefully she won’t explode me in the process Here is the current team pre-Julia (Van Damme with cheri berry, which can be found in a certain box under the Bridge , and Junior ofc with his sea incense). I hope that the tadpole will be useful in any way tho... even hypnosis won’t work since pokes can’t be put sleep on electric field >.< Current team: Let's see how our fighter team will fare in its first Gym Leader battle! Electrode proved to be too strong... Force palm took only 33% of its HP while 1 Charge beam almost fainted him. With next Charge beam the match was unfortunately over Ok, it was all because I was afraid that we will get killed by all those explosions and her shouting all the time... It was a bit overwhelming and guys got a little confused as well. We trained some more after that loss and we will be back for more! I was thinking to start next time with Van Damme, OHKO Helioptile with Force palm, and then counter Emolga's acrobatics with well, Counter Hopefully, take down one more Voltorb with Force palm as aftermath finishes Van Damme off. Anybody got other ideas on how to take her down? Maybe I should go for 4th fighter for the team? That Emolga walls me hard + Electrode is seriously hard to beat. I would love to hear your thoughts I think I could use timburr since he learns Rock type moves and Pancham doesn't bring anything special to the table... Stay tuned for more.
  20. Ok, ill try to do that. Do I just post a link or do I add some special brackets? I'm not much of a forum dweller Blaziken would make this playthrough a walk in a park with bulk up & speed boost + good STAB combo so i decided against it I will see if I use him. What worries me is that he doesn't learn anything besides fighting type moves, which could be a problem. Well, hardcore fighting monorun sounds very frustrating to me and I aim for this to be entertaining for me & you so I wont go for that. Yeah, 3 gyms after grass leader will definitely cause me some headache. Im not sure whether Ill add some new fighty outside of the usual you can get. I worry that it might make Reborn playthrough less of a Reborn playthrough, IYKWIM Thanks
  21. Oh well, I had a somewhat free evening so I just gave it a shot. Let me introduce you to the new PC So here's the team: After some uninteresting tackle fights with local noobs trainers, I decided it was time to take out the meteor duo. Oh boy, I shudder at thought of mono-bug Shelly and mono-poison Corey. With all of them exp givers trainers mopped up, and all the hidden shards gathered, it was time to talk to a peculiar green-haired douchebag Individual. On a side note, I'm very positively surprised by Boxer's usefullness. Fast, strong-hitting and with early pseudo-setup move of focus energy, she was able to secure crucial KOs when normally fighties are in disadvantage i.e. bugs/poisons. Junior, on the contrary, performs below expectations as of yet. I hope that in the future, with rain dance + swift swim + water STAB + evolved + sea incesnce love you Ame he will be more of an asset to the team and less of a liability.
  22. Hi everybody! Before tackling the issue at hand, let me just say that I am very pleasec to say that this is my first post on this forum. Now, I'm no rookie to Reborn - I've been around here since 1 year or so, having completed playthrough on vanilla reborn and being currently halfway through the hardcore version (Seriously, @Commander, this mod is so cool, congratz). I also wanted to congratulate the author, @Amethyst, on creating such an interesting game which challenges me on every corner contrary to mainstream games. So let me say that I am excited to announce my very first recorded monorun playthrough! (My first monorun ever in general) Why have I decided to do such a playthrough? Well... Some thought put into team-building is always beneficial in pokemon games. Even more in reborn, where you have limited access to strong pokes so you need good team synergy to muscle through particular fights sometimes it's not enough in hardcore and you need just to be lucky. Therefore I always analysed my teams strengths & weaknesses and tried to build good all round team which can act as a core while rotating a bit with decidated pokes for an important battle. Before Gen 6, fighting types were always present in my team. Now, with them fairies introduced, fightings fell far from grace (in my opinion, its only a personal view, dont hate) - dark can easily be countered by my own fairy (which offers better coverage anyways and doesnt have such a demanding movepool needs). Steel and ice is nearly always handled by a fire type and offers additional resistance to fairies, and rocks are often countered by a bulky ground type. Having in mind that you can squeeze only 6 pokemon into 1 team, I rarely have place for a fighting type nowadays, being in my opinion much more niche in gen 6. In gen 5, I always found fightings an universal pick that can always find their 5 minutes in a battle, while with them pesky fairies running around, it seems much less viable (1 more move needed since dark coverage move is walled as well + 1 resistance/weakness more). While I was letting my fighting type go due to trainsition to Agathe Circus, an idea struck me - why not try whole playthrough with them fighties? I always liked them and was feeling kinda nostalgic when I boxed my Scrafty in favour of Clefable (damn those fairies!). And thats why Im here Basic info 1. Hardcore or vanilla? I think that hardcore with mono fighting run will be too much. I cant see myself muscling through whole Corey's team with a Crobat as ace on hardcore I barely beat him with carefully picked team. Thats why Im gonna go vanilla. 2. Self-imposed restrictions: Battle shift setting always on 'set' - no changes as opponent is switching out a fainted poke. No items usage in battles best feature of hardcore version. 3. HM mod - i just hate HM slavery 4. And finally, pokes! As some of you may probably know, there are no fighting types available before Julia! Also, I already played through the game with Infernape and Emboar (fire/fight is one of those type combos that havent lost their viability during gen transition ), Blaziken is just blantantly OP and I just hate Chesnaught i) pitiful STAB coverage ii) unattractive stats distribution iii) i just dont like him generally. Moreover, playing with only 1 pokemon through the whole beginning sounds boring as hell! Therefore, I decided to: a) swap the starter for a decent, however not outright OP fighter i.e. Riolu b ) adding 2 (or 3?) pokes to the team in the beginning, however not so amazingly powerful (just to be compliant with the pace of Reborn). So, this is my proposition for the beginning team so far: (Im gonna hack da game and add them to the team since trading 3 pokes in the beginning would be somewhat gamebreaking) Riolu Nature: neutral With move bullet punch, however I will treat it as egg move (I will replace it with another move asap and reteach it with move relearner) Mankey Nature: jolly Poliwag Nature:neutral So! Those are my preliminary suggestions and introduction. What do you think? Do you have any ideas for maybe 4th poke for the team? (Not something game-breaking tho) I do hope for some feedback
