Many people thought it was out of character, and I can see why.
I'm not bothered by this personally, I think it's the kind of cold, bitter humor Vader would use when vaguely amused by a situation such as this. When Krennic, an 'ordinary' imperial officer, whines to Vader of all people and demands an audience with the Emperor himself.
