  1. Hello everybody, I am here today to introduce you another team of mine I effectively use on ladder. The team has been in the first 50 in ladder, but due to decay it fell back to edge of ladder which is 1500, and unfortunately I dont have any replay avaible. Lets get started with the introductions and sets. Groudon-Primal @ Red Orb Ability: Desolate Land EVs: 252 HP / 4 Atk / 252 Def Lax Nature - Stealth Rock - Precipice Blades - Roar - Lava Plume As usual, I start with a rock setter. The most viable rock setter in tier is primal groudon, so I went with that. Roar stops any set up attackers, ability gives a wooping water type block effect that lets it switch freely into primal kyogres and any other water type attack, precipice blades is our strong stab move ( Earthquake is optional if ur afraid of missing) and lava plume gets its benefit from pure 150 spatk + sunshine in order to hit other pokemons effectively. Arceus-Ground @ Earth Plate Ability: Multitype EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def Bold Nature IVs: 0 Atk - Judgment - Defog - Recover - Ice Beam Every rock setter has to have its counter, for me , it is arceus ground. It can shut down nearly all viable stealth rock users just with its stab move, has amazing 120 in all stats, excellent bulk and attacking capabilities. Defog just removes whatever they throw onto us, judgment ohkoes primal groudon and deals massive damage to neutral targets. Given full bold nature it can live the big threats in the tier, such as M lucario, solgaleo , M salamence , zekrom , newly added metagross mega, other physical arceus forms and many more. It has a reliable recovery and icebeam just wrecks the salamence mega , giratina and the rayquaza. Without a doubt its one of the best arceus forms in the tier. Salamence-Mega @ Salamencite Ability: Aerilate EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe Adamant Nature - Double-Edge - Dragon Dance - Substitute / Refresh - Roost Next up, we have our first attacker pokemon, salamence mega. Aerilate boosted double edge just wrecks whatever is in its path. Dragondance provides stat boost in attack and speed, which makes salamence a brutal power house. Substitute over refresh because there are still crazy baton pass teams in the tier, and substitute just provides an immunity versus shuckle and smeargle, granting at least 2 dragon dances to you, which might result in a sweep. Roost is recovery move in order to gain hp back thats been lost to the recoil. Lunala @ Choice Scarf Ability: Shadow Shield EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe Timid Nature IVs: 0 Atk - Focus Blast - Psyshock - Moongeist Beam - Dazzling Gleam Along with a physical attacker, we will need a special pokemon. Lunala fits that role perfectly with its very strong and unique signature move, along with the decent coverage. Focus blast deals with extremekiller arceus, psyshock hits hard to primal kyogre , hooh and any other weak physical bulk mon. Dazzling gleam is really optional and rarely used, versus mons like yveltal and arceus dark. Our item choice is scarf because in order to deal with specific pokemons, we have to outspeed them. Lifeorb Arceus mostly runs shadow claw in order to hit giratina and lugia, therefore scarf gives us chance to kill it with focus blast. Its 137 spatk stat is very strong to be a special attacker candidate. ( Lunala itself caused arceus dark to go popular ) Ho-Oh @ Leftovers Ability: Regenerator EVs: 248 HP / 8 Atk / 252 Def Impish Nature - Recover - Sacred Fire - Brave Bird - Whirlwind Only reason I put hooh in my team is simply because it is my favourite legendary pokemon. Impish nature max def invest is to make it a balanced dual wall, due to its 154 spdef stat. Spdef univested hooh will still have 344 spdef stat, which is huge, boosted by physical performance, hooh will cause your opponents to have hard time and reconsider their life choices. Recover over roost is simply because we dont want to lose our flying typing in case of an incoming ground type attack. Since its a defensive set, we run sacred fire over flare blitz, we dont need more damage output. For an utility mon like this, having a 50% burn access move is far more effective than slightly stronger stab move. Bravebird is our other stab, in order to hit things hard. Hook also has a decent 130 atak stat, and it can reach to 298 atk stat with this spread, which lets him hard enough. Whirlwind just forces your opponent to switch, prevents set up and such. Magearna @ Leftovers Ability: Soul-Heart EVs: 252 HP / 252 SpD Calm Nature IVs: 0 Atk - Heart Swap - Pain Split - Flash Cannon - Fleur Cannon This lovely machine mon is my last addition to the team. Its whole purpose is shutting xerneas and yveltals down. It makes z geomancy looks like a joke. It can switch into +2 modest focus blast like its nothing. It just steals stat with heart swap, regens hp back with pain split, and revenges xerneas and anything that comes in. If you are unprepared for it, you will be slaughered by this pokemon. ( This pokemon can carry you to mid ladder ( around 1400 ) single handedly. Due to heart swap, it can also spam fleur cannon freely and just swap its stats to enemy and keep abusing it. Importable : Let me know your thoughts of this team, why it wouldnt work etc, or feel free to ask me questions o/
  2. The alolan muk was just an example how porygon2 can be shutted down, besides you are doing the very same thing how dragon suffers from ice beam. Any bulky mon with icebeam can be threat to dragon typing, it is unrelated from the porygon2 itself. Besides that the dragon leader can always prepare for it , considering a porygon 2 wont be able to wall / icebeam an entire team of dragons and kommo-o exists with a decent special bulk. As for grounds case, the way porygon 2 is for the grounds, it is kinda same how ground types are for porygon, it can be toxicated, can be completely walled by excadrill, checked by part water ground types, and both nidoqueen and nidoking can bypass the download spatk boost by investing very slight EV's ( Just thinking that porygon 2 is not mixed defender, in this case porygon 2 either dies to physical or special attackers.) What I mean here is we just consider the extreme cases and act like porygon2 was a big threat for leaders to deal with. If we do this exact thing to every mon, anything above A- in viability should have been banned with our logic here. ( Simply 1 mon doesnt deserve to be suspected just because it checks 1-2 types ) As for regular metagross, sadly it wont(shouldnt) be used as a physical attacker in the existence of the superior steel powerhouses excadrill scizor and aegislash. It is a decent stealth rock user with decent dual stab and priority move, but it is not going to become a big threat. It lacks momentum, it doesnt have its fantastic speed tier, it doesnt have the beast ability, every other physical offense mon will be a better option than him. (What makes scizor better than regular metagross is that scizor has both recovery move and momentum provider U turn) This is the pretty much the logic/reasoning why mega metagross was picked by many challengers, cuz it had no better alternative as a steel powerhouse.
  3. I am aware of that, but the case I talk about aegislash's performance is where metagrossite is banned. Aegislash will replace mmeta's slot if we ban it in the future, thus it will be another unpredictable mon when used by leaders. Remember that the reason why aegislash was banned from Gen6 ou was its typing , the amount of roles it could handle and the impact it had on the teambuilding. Every player had at least 1 aegislash check in their teams ( Both physical and special tank, both special and physical attacker ) Despite that, aegislash has attack boosting move, STAB priority, both special and physical offense capability, self protecting move that cripples physical attackers, makes it a viable attacker along with megagross. Problem here being Megagross's offense capabilities are far above the aegislash, has alot more coverage, a far better physical bulk, and very nice speed tier, therefore nobody really consider running an offensive aegislash. But in a future event where metagrossite is banned, aegislash might be considered as an option, with the stat altering ability that grants 150/150 in both offense stats, and 150/150 bulk in both defenses in shield form, making it a strong pokemon. So this means, porygon 2 is only dangerous when used by leaders, which kinda proves my point of p2 being broken on the leader aspect. Leaders can shape their team homewer they like as you said to counter it, for instance, Lucifer's Alola-Muk can completely shut any porygon2 set , item and ev spread. Personally I havent seen any leader had problems dealing with pory 2. It is nowhere near broken when used by challengers.
  4. While judging a specific mons performance, I'd rather check both leader and challenger cases. As for leaders : We can go back and check all the teams registered in the league so far, most of them runs recover and trickroom , along with triattack and a coverage move, such as thunderbolt and recover. This set up was never hard for leaders to stop, in fact this was a free set up mon for some leaders. ( Check elliot's snorlax for reference. ) As for players : As you know, there are only 2 leaders that can use this, Elliot and Oliver. Elliot's porygon2 has the moveset of toxic recover triattack and foulplay , along with some coverage moves he swaps around. Oliver's pory2 is a trickroom setter in doubles when he used it, in singles it runs toxic recover and triattack. This movepool itself means that porygon 2 will never be able to deal damage to any ghost type mon, cripple moves fails vs substitute users, poison and steel types gets free switch , it is remarkably weak to knock off and that puts you in a 50/50 case where you can predict their switch and kill the incoming mega, or just remove the item of whatever mon is coming and it cant fulfill its work when it is taunted. When it has this many checks and counters, It is nowhere near broken.
  5. Well, not quite revelant but its kind of an unfair argument. Porygon 2 has to run eviolite in order to be a viable tank, because in both cases 85/90 physical bulk or 85/95 special bulk wont be enough to keep it alive. Eviolite basically grants a free +1 in both defenses, that means these calculations below; Base 90 at level 100 with 31 IVs, 0 EVs at +1: 324. ( No def invested) Base 90 at level 100 with 31 IVs, 252+ EVs at +1: 459 ( Max def invested) Base 95 at level 100 with 31 IVs, 0 EVs at +1: 339.( No spdef invested) Base 95 at level 100 with 31 IVs, 252+ EVs at +1: 475. (Max spdef invested) And it will have hp value of 374. Under these circumstances, p2 can be both physical and special wall, along with a reliable recovery, and couple of crippling moves along with a decent coverage. Problem being, nobody runs knock off in the league, because without eviolite, p2 is nowhere near tanky, will most likely die to any supereffective hit. Check the calculations below for the eviolite knocked off defense stats of p2. Base 90 at level 100 with 31 IVs, 252+ EVs: 306. ( Max def invested ) Base 90 at level 100 with 31 IVs, 0 EVs: 216. ( No def invested ) Base 95 at level 100 with 31 IVs, 252+ EVs: 317. ( Max Spdef invested ) Base 95 at level 100 with 31 IVs, 0 EVs: 226. ( No spdef invested ) If you consider running mixed spread between def and spdef, it is even worse in a situation when eviolite gets knocked off, because u will be weak in both special and physical side. In this case, we can say that porygon 2 is a perfectly fine mon to use, it is just people doesnt run knock off often in league and suffer its consequences.
  6. Ban Aegislash In both singles and triples, it is too much problem to deal with. Access to kings shield nearly shuts down all physical attackers, access to wide guard blocks several types in the triples format , its typing grants him 3 immunities and 9 resistances. Given right item and the moveset, it can potentially beat several types on its own, just like mega metagross thus it should be banned. Also leaving this here to show how aegislash can deal with physical attackers. Watch from turn 6. http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/reborn-gen7redemptiontrip-85090 Ban Greninja Problem here is protean, making greninja hard to deal with due to its mass coverage movepool. As much as I understand why battle bond is banned, protean was still a big problem. ( Check gen6 for reference, where greninja was ubers in existence of all megas.) Access to scald/darkpulse/icebeam/grassknot/gunk shot/extrasensory/uturn/lowkick/shadow sneak, any hidden power and moves like toxic spikes / spikes , it covers up way too many types, making it unpredictable. Along with this unpredictability, every move it uses becomes STAB, boosted with lifeorb/specs in order to hit like a truck. Both hitting like a truck and being unpredictable is a limiting factor in teambuilding that both leaders and player suffers from, it should be banned aswell
  7. Guess I can give some advice for the ubers. Firstly, your arceus is not good enough to be a solid attacker. The amount of pokemons it can hit with judgment + icebeam is very limited ( Lugia , megamence , hooh , landorus ) Icebeam nowadays is a mandatory arceus move to deal with flying / dragon types, but electric doesnt cover up any serious threat in the tier, and it gets completely shutted down by excadrill / groudon. Magic coat can be used to block stuff, but it definitively wont block darkrais cuz the situation of darkrai in gen7 ubers is nonexistent. Due to dark void nerf, running hypnosis is a better alternative and it is considered as a joke set in low ladder only. My personal preference is running bold arceus ground to block primal groudon. For primal groudon, its solid enough, but swords dance > power up punch. Primal kyogre runs a decent set, no problem on that. Lugia runs a decent set too, fine with that one. M Gengar's set doesnt favor your team in some aspects. You already have 3 solid special attackers in your team, I personally think gengar would fit more in as a supportive pokemon. Hex over shadow ball, substitute over dazzling gleam, keep destiny bond and sludge bomb. As for porygonz I just assume you like to use that mon, but unfortunately it is not viable in the tier. Xerneas outclasses pory z in all aspecs in that manner, z geomancy provides better boost, and in both cases there will be a magearna to steal stat boosts regardless.

  9. Tpunch is actually a good coverage move for nape but I do have a raikou already. Yeah probably
  10. Personally, I never had trouble keeping latias safe from strond dark types just because anything has potential to kill it literally gets walled by hippowdow. Going speed latias with spatk means exchange bulk for power, in exchange there's a very big risk of getting revengekilled by most of dark types, more likely getting pursuit trapped by bisharp,m aero and such . Here are some calcs to see the difference even better. 252 Atk Life Orb Bisharp Pursuit vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Latias: 182-218 (60.4 - 72.4%) -- guaranteed 2HKO 252 Atk Life Orb Bisharp Pursuit vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Latias: 133-156 (36.5 - 42.8%) -- 95% chance to 3HKO after Leftovers recovery 252 Atk Tough Claws Aerodactyl-Mega Pursuit vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Latias: 90-108 (24.7 - 29.6%) -- 0% chance to 4HKO after Leftovers recovery 252 Atk Tough Claws Aerodactyl-Mega Pursuit vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Latias: 128-152 (42.5 - 50.4%) -- 1.2% chance to 2HKO 252 Atk Krookodile Pursuit vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Latias: 134-158 (44.5 - 52.4%) -- 17.2% chance to 2HKO 252 Atk Krookodile Pursuit vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Latias: 96-114 (26.3 - 31.3%) -- guaranteed 4HKO I agree on extra speed on M blastoise for bulky togekiss tho, Ima invest some speed. Never thought of that
  11. It is because the help mach punch provides is far above the help fake out provides. I dont run any status in my team, I dont need a turn gain in order to deal more passive damage. It is not stab, not boosted by ability, can be used only once and forces you to switch next, probably wont put anything in the kill range for infernape and can be easily wasted by ghost types. In return, infernape can OHKO full hp hydreigon with +2 machpunch and check many more mons with it. So in most aspects mach punch beats fakeout. ( Needless to say mach punch gets more bp with ability)
  12. Its mainly because priority > coverage. I dont really need another coverage move on infernape considering it doesnt have a large move pool, and its potential moves like poison jab/ thunderpunch are already covered with other pokemons. But I dont really have any priority in team. Infernape itself is vulnerable anyways, its a fast sweeper, many bulky mons with counter type will most likely stop infernape regardless, therefore your argument with the coverage doesnt suit my team. Appreciate the comment tho
  13. Hello boys and girls, I want to introduce you my UU team I've been using in ladder this past week. It has 3 bulky mons and 3 fast attackers, making it a balanced team. It is really simple and fun to use. Hippowdon (M) @ Rocky Helmet Ability: Sand Stream Shiny: Yes EVs: 252 HP / 4 Atk / 252 Def Impish Nature - Stealth Rock - Earthquake - Whirlwind - Slack Off Firstly, we need a rock setter. With its bulk and useful ability, hippowdon is a perfect pokemon to set rocks. Earthquake is our STAB move, whirlwind stops any physical set up sweepers, and slack off is our reliable recovery. Due to that, our item is Rocky Helmet to gain some chip damage from u turn users. Due to its typing it also shuts down most volt switch users. Blastoise-Mega @ Blastoisinite Ability: Mega Launcher EVs: 252 HP / 252 SpA / 4 SpD Modest Nature IVs: 0 Atk - Dark Pulse - Ice Beam - Scald - Rapid Spin Along with the hazard setter, we will also need a hazard remover. We got various options for this job, but I prefer blastoise mega due to its good coverage + ability. Scald is a powerful stab, icebeam blocks zygarde , gliscor and deals with any other dragon or flying type pokemon. Occasionally it shuts down grass types aswell, thanks to ice beam. 4 th move slot is really optional, but its highly suggested to run dark pulse, in order to deal damage to ghost type rapid spin blockers such as gengar, helps to shut down any psychic and ghost type, and it helps alot more than ice beam while facing latias. Hydreigon @ Choice Specs Ability: Levitate Shiny: Yes EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe Timid Nature - Dark Pulse - Draco Meteor - U-turn - Flash Cannon After setting our utility pokemons, we gotta pick some attackers. Hydreigon is really nice for this job, great dual stab with access to u turn. 4 th move slot is optional aswell, the reason why I use flash cannon is baiting fairy type mons, killing aerodactyl mega and killing clefable. Killing a clefable with a hydreigon might sound weird but most clefables in the ladders are built to check choice band scizor, they carry fireblast and most of them runs bold nature. This allows you to guaranteed 2HKO clefable with flash cannon , means they cant safely switch in. Infernape @ Fightinium Z Ability: Iron Fist EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe Jolly Nature - Swords Dance - Mach Punch - Close Combat - Flare Blitz After a special attacker, we do need a physical one for more coverage . Infernape is handy with its speed tier, access to stat boost moves, good priority and dual stab. Fightinium Z deals with so many things, grants you free kill over tanky mons from +2 boost . Mach punch is our priority and boosted by iron fist to get slightly more damage. You may choose blaze over iron fist if you will but since we dont run sash, it is less likely that infernape will ever get a chance to benefit from it. Latias @ Leftovers Ability: Levitate EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpA Bold Nature IVs: 0 Atk - Recover - Draco Meteor - Psychic - Calm Mind This is my favourite pokemon to use in ladder. Given bold nature with max physical defense, latias shuts down so many physical attackers , and cover up its weakness on spdef with calm mind. Its unkillable by clefable after +1 calm mind, hits hard in return and it has a reliable recovery. Raikou @ Leftovers Ability: Pressure EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe Timid Nature IVs: 0 Atk - Calm Mind - Substitute - Hidden Power [Ice] - Thunderbolt And final pokemon is raikou to cover up the lack of electric coverage in order to deal damage to water types. Leftovers provides passive HP regen, calm mind and substitute works together to gain several boosts versus passive/slow supportive mons such as pyukumuku. Given a calm mind, raikou will be able to oneshot gliscor and zygarde with HPIce, and most of time substitute helps raikou with a free boost incase a ground type switch in. And obviously thunderbolt is our main stab move. Importable : Replay : http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/gen7uu-580835247 The battle where I reached to 1500+ rating in the UU ladder. Feel free to suggest me different stuff, or ask questions if you have any.
  14. Meh, the lack of electric / grass coverage really hurts doesnt it ;D
  15. With a good duo partner, mega blastoise would tear this team apart. It hits hard to gliscor, darmanitan, zygarde by having scald and icebeam , third slot being rapidspin and 4 th slot is commonly filled with dark pulse to hit latias more effectively. Also gotta remember m absol has paper def so probably it would die to scald in 2 hit ko. ( Best optional partner is raikou , it can kill primarina easily, and deal severe serious damage to gliscor and zygarde with hpice. ) Other than that it looks really nice and decent.
  16. http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/gen7uu-580835247 Finally reached to 1500 in UU, (In first 250 in ladder)
