  1. hadn't played this game in actual years, finally came back and was promptly blown AWAY by the atmosphere in this gym. great work y'all.
  2. i'm not able to find the download either — also says "page not found" for me when i click that link. any chance i can find it elsewhere? thanks >.<
  3. Ah, you said that they were either traced or copied, which is quite different from referencing. Referencing is how you learn, and is indeed something many professionals do - tracing and copying is not, and tracing in particular is in a small way art theft. That's why so many people responded negatively to your comment, because of the implication of disingenuity.
  4. Hahaha, that's what I keep telling myself, if only to justify my lack of drawing people XD thank you so much!! Using references is like THE way artists learn to draw. hah ok I'm sure you already know that - it just bothers me that people seem to assume any realistic pose must have been traced or copied. but you're right lol enough babbling; more admiring. Your pictures are AMAZING!! Because you know what I can't stand Terra but that pic like good lord she looks so COOL. And Lin on the hydreigon is just amazing. good lord it's awesome. you're awesome.
  5. that one part where lucario fights you to prove that you're worthy of raising her child? i like that part but man that poor mom
  6. Aah your art is super cute! Especially that strawberry girl picture! And your lineart is really clean and nice :3 The best thing I could recommend is to start working on shading. Once you start shading, you start getting a better feel for things like the folds in clothing and how light interacts with the materials you're drawing. It also helps with learning more about anatomy because pose affects shading. If you really feel like pushing your boundaries, try drawing some pics with full, real-life backgrounds! It makes you really think about how all the pieces of your art fit together. (and by real-life i just mean, having a bg that's like an actual location or something the characters are interacting with - not that it has to look realistic) It makes you consider proportions, shading, colors - basically everything! It's really good for teaching yourself more about drawing.
  7. Iolia Valley was beautiful and replaying the game got me really inspired. it's my own PC and not one of the game's protags but i hope it still fits this thread?
  8. My favorite nickname ever is what i name basically any espeon i have, and that'd be "Renaissance" Clever nicknames i used that i am fond of are "Hersheys" for togekiss, and "Wireless" for Virizion.
  9. A fun fangame that's really different from the usual pokemon is Super Pokemon Eevee Edition - http://www.pokecommunity.com/showthread.php?t=224449 It's got a lot of very different mechanics than normal pokemon and fanmade games, so if you're looking for novelty, it's definitely worth checking out! The game's not done yet but it's getting pretty close, i believe.
  10. I get this with all other games except pokemon, for some reason - at least the well-made fangames, like reborn. I got hit with this pretty hard when i played a nuzlock of pokemon x, though. It also feels like a bad habit 'cause i get so used to opening up the game and beginning to play it, and then two minutes in i get bored - but then an hour later, i want to play again, and the cycle repeats itself....
  11. hah, "deal with". i'm literally posting this as i procrastinate on my psychology essay. on a more legitimate note, i'm pretty sure it takes intense willpower and an enforcement of good habits to overcome procrastination, neither of which i've mastered yet.
  12. Both pokemon actually get flare blitz as their best physical fire move - flareon learns it at lv. 45 and rapidash at lv. 49, so not too huge of a difference (unless you plan on using flare blitz against kiki or something ) And if you want to avoid recoil, the second best physical fire move would be fire fang for flareon, which outranks rapidash's flame wheel by a lil' bit. Rapidash is probably the more well-rounded of the two (and is probably the superior choice if you're just pitting them against each other), but neither of them are gonna be taking many hits anyway (especially with flare blitz's recoil), so personally I don't feel like it means much. i think it really comes down to your playing style and which you think you'll have more fun using ^^; or you could decide purely on aesthetics, since they're similar enough in terms of use anyway Overall I'd say, if you've ever used one of them before, go with the one that's new to you or seems like more fun.

    Easiest Gym?

Overall I think either Julia (because she's at the very start of the game and for the most part doesn't use evolved pokemon) or Kiki (intense psychic weakness), but on my NU-only run I was really surprised by how absurdly easy Shelly and Aya were - I faced them with a competitive meowstic and they just kept giving her the stat boosts It helped that both were double battles as I could use one pokemon as a placeholder to heal meowstic up every time they got close to killing her. So yeah, unexpectedly I had the least trouble with gym battles when I used NU pokemon only...

    $500 guy

You DO get a pokemon for finishing that sidequest, but if your friend was expecting a magikarp, he's gonna be SORELY disappointed. Edit: Actually, I think as of now, it's been changed so that the sidequest is unfinished. It used to be that you'd get ducklett, but up to episode 15 you won't actually get a pokemon from it anymore (I think it will probably be magikarp when the sidequest gets finished though).
  15. well I haven't been here long but i'm not missing a chance to show off my art so
  16. Unfortunately, I don't think you'll find much sympathy in the forums ^^; For one thing, gym leaders of reborn are notoriously difficult, especially when they first come out (i think basically every hard gym leader has been nerfed some as episodes go by) - and most people like that in the game (i mean some people even complain about the nerfs that i'm pretty sure I NEEDED to beat some leaders... but that's my problem, 'cause I don't play that rigorously, and reborn is kinda meant to kick your ass ) Most people found Ciel's fight to be rather easy, so I don't think she'll be getting nerfed any time soon. If you're not up for the battle, the only solution I could think of would be posting your save file to the forums and asking someone else to beat her for you (but i don't know how likely you are to get someone willing to do that for you, as like I said, I don't think you'll get much sympathy...)

    The Mac

From what I understand, macs have more complicated programming, which gives them much more potential in customization (in terms of programming, not appearance like PC) - which is why it's much harder to get viruses on a mac, but also harder to make programs for macs. So you can't keep the mac quality of "better virus protection" if you change it's programming system for the sake of those games. Having had both macs and pcs, I can vouch that macs aren't slower than pcs at all (at least from a normal use standpoint - I don't do much hardcore gaming on either), but macs ARE very durable if you treat them decently. I used my dad's old macbook pro from 2007 until about a year ago - still fully functional, although it's battery life was shot The main drawback to them is that there's way more programs that are PC-exclusive.
  18. Personally I think I like bug the least, because it feels like the bug typing doesn't give them anything beneficial, and instead gives them some pretty common weaknesses. I think a lot of dual-type bug pokemon work just as well as single type pokemon, particularly most poison/bug pokes like the venipede line... I also don't like that they're usually only good until early/mid game, and then you have to find replacements. Still though, I probably wouldn't want bug pokemon removed or anything like that, 'cause I'm used to them and they balance the game out.
  19. Yeah, I agree - though I feel like the writing in that part could have been maybe a bit smoother, I think the main reason people found it forced was just 'cause they were not very (or at all) familiar with non-binary pronouns/individuals. And they/them is more common as a gender neutral pronoun from what I know, but in-game the player character is always referred to as they/them regardless of if they chose the male or female character. Perhaps that's why the xe/xem pronouns are used for the game's non-binary characters. (That and, the leaders are based on the online league, so I'm assuming Adrienn uses xe/xem pronouns and the game kept true to that). Interestingly, the non-binary protag option gets xe/xem pronouns, and I'm wondering if (hoping) before the game is finished the pronouns are fixed to he/him for the male character and she/her for the female.

    Rate?

It looks really cool! The only things i would recommend off the top of my head is that the bevel/emboss on the words is a bit too intense that it makes them a little difficult to look at, particularly on (what i assume is) the friend code. And you could also benefit from resizing some things, as Dewgong, Alakazam, and Lopunny all look a little flattened or stretched out. Some sprites (like Arcanine) are blurry while on others (Dewgong) you can see all the pixels clearly. So just a few touch-ups and getting the images consistent would really make this shine. But even without that, the pic is great ^^ I especially like the squirtle's sunglasses And the color scheme is really pleasant to look at. I'm sure your friend will like it a lot!
  21. figured this thread might enjoy this pic of absol i drew a while ago ^^ (under spoiler 'cause it's rather large)
  22. Haha, thanks guys ^^ I probably will find my way to the server eventually... About said server though, I was wondering: Since field effects are part of the game, are they somehow used on the server as well?
  23. So like most people I've been lurking on here for way more than would be deemed socially acceptable in the real world, and I finally pulled myself together to make an account! So... yay! I'm not much of a competitive battler (I enjoy it but i'm not good at it, hah), but like many people I found this place through the game and have been reading through the forums and stuff ever since. Thank you, Amethyst, for such an amazing game!! And thanks everyone else, for this awesome community!
