  1. If you're having trouble with Beldum, it might be worth running around and looking for a Pokemon with Pickup (Phanpy near the graveyard, Aipom on the snowy mountain) and getting a few Dusk Balls, which have a catch rate of x3.5 vs. the Nest Ball's x3. Then do a status of your choice (Sleep, Burn, Paralysis), and throw however many balls you have and reset. The Shiny looks nice, but it'd be easier to breed for one than risking your luck trying to catch one in the wild. As a battler, Metagross hits really hard and has a reasonable movepool from just level-up, but it SUCKS as both a Beldum and Metang, and you need to be level 50+ for it to really start pulling its weight. If you care about IV's, being genderless means you won't be breeding any with 3+ good IV's unless you cheat or got really lucky with the event ditto.
  2. Looking to trade Seel for a Cacnea from the egg event (want a Belching Victreebel), and any of Aerodactyl/Kabuto/Omanyte/Shieldon/Cranidos/Tirtouga/Archen/Amaura/Tyrunt for Lileep/Anorith! Also: Have a shiny Beldum, if you're into that.
  3. Honestly, if you like your team, I wouldn't change it! If you want to just improve the mons you have, the easiest way is to just improve their EV's/natures a little bit, if that's possible! Get the EV-reducing berries and clean up any extra special attack EVs on Donphan/Fearow. I might try to focus on either all special, or all physical attacks for Jolteon/Houndoom. Muk and Empoleon are already slow, so it's fine to go mixed on them. If you have some extra heart scales, maybe try swapping their natures around, too! Adamant/Jolly for Donphan/Fearow, Modest/Timid/Naive/Rash for Jolteon/Houndoom. Seeing as you've beat the game, you can try breeding them for better IV's (and grab the shiny charm in Calcenon so you can keep the shininess.) @Anddew, the psychic gym is a double battle, and the chess field doubles how strong Calm Mind/adds Rock/Psychic damage to a lot of attacks is, so if you can re-learn CM on your Meowstic, that might be good. For spread attacks, is it possible to give Empoleon Surf > Whirlpool, Arcanine Heat Wave > Flame Burst, and Noivern Air Cutter > Shadow Claw/Air Slash (although Air Cutter is really weak.) Also maybe give Weezing Sludge Wave so it can combo with Empoleon who's immune? Struggle Bug is really good for that gym too, from what I remember.
  4. For CE, regardless of the Pokemon's affection, you need ~8 steps to have a good shot of getting an egg, even with the "counter" set at 511. I think it's running from the old man, all the way, then back down, gives me an egg ~75% of the time. If you're stuck with 8 values for the egg, I would suggest going into a smaller room; Obsidia Ward (or is it Opal?) is a big map, and there's a lot of other things that also decrease at the same rate. As mentioned above, using a Pokemon with Flame Body/Magma Armor decreases egg hatch-values by 4 per step, and I basically never get any duplicate ID's when using that method. Also, I know that in Pokemon Insurgence, scanning too quickly will cause you to "lose" addresses because the game doesn't update fast enough if you alt-tab between CE and the .exe. I think that Reborn is optimized a lot better and I very rarely get that problem, but it's definitely a possibility! Also, breeding 87.5% male Pokemon is a total pain, it took me ~30 eggs to hatch a single female Tyrunt with 2 IV's, so I basically won't breed for any fossils/starters anymore because it takes forever
  5. Don't know about Mystic Water, but you can mine rocks (optionally soft-resetting with F12) until you get a Splash Plate, which will give you the same +20% boost to water moves, or buy a Wave/Sea Incense from the Department Store. Edit: There's a Mystic Water in Chrysolia Forest!
  6. No thanks, I'm not looking for perfect IV's and I'm not breeding any of the 87.5% male starters/fossils, I appreciate the offer though!
  7. Does anyone have a Magikarp? :X Will do Larvesta/Feebas for it
  8. I have an Amaura! I can breed you another one, it'll probably be male, though :X You can have it for whatever! Is anyone willing to trade a Heracross for Pinsir? Mine's got Quick Attack + Superpower. Other stuff looking for: Magikarp, Beautifly (Male with Morning Sun), Slugma (With Heat Wave, not sure if this is possible) I've got: (5 IV's, Modest/Adamant) Venonat, Larvesta, Skorupi, Pinsir (Quick Attack + Superpower), Phantump , Clauncher, Skrelp, Totodile (Dragon Dance + Ice Punch), Paras, Spinarak, and Lapras (31/30/31/31/31/31 Docile, Dragon Dance) Shiny: (2-4 IV's, breeding) Ralts, Lapras (Dragon Dance), Clauncher, Litwick, Larvesta, Venonat, Spinarak, Skorupi, and Pinsir
  9. I'm using the essentials one. I have the animation working (my own sprite sheet/animation/sounds) and an exported .anm file, I just need to know how to get that .anm file "incorporated" into a working game. I understood from the FAQ/help that game with RGPmaker that you need to update the PkmnAnimations.rxdata with the new animation to get things to show up, and I'm wondering how to do that? Thanks for your suggestion!
  10. Hello, I've been working with the animation editor in RPGXP to make some placeholder animations for moves that don't have any yet. I'm testing out a re-skinned Icicle Crash animation (using rock slide as a template, will replace with icicles if it works,) and exported it as a "IcicleCrash.anm" file. Is there any way for me to get this file into Pokemon Reborn's animation list? Do I need to put it into the "PkmnAnimations.rxdata" file? If I could get this to work, I'd be happy to put up some .gif's and I'd love to see if I could get a few of the more common attack animations made (Waterfall, Moonblast, Ice Beam.) Cheers
  11. Hey, not sure where suggestions should go. Anyways, breeding for IV's has been pretty straightforward, and very generous with Reborn's shiny chance + shiny charm. As most of you probably know, in 6th gen, parents no longer pass down TM moves, and a lot of Pokemon need a few TM's to round out their movepool (Poison Jab, Thunderbolt/Ice Beam, Earthquake, Stone Edge, etc.) I was wondering if would be possible to get some kind of help in this department. The design philosophy for Reborn has obviously been one that prevents you from getting an easy steamroll team (high BST's, strong TM's) too early. I was wondering if anyone else would like an item that could give you TM's through breeding only, not activatable to make things too easy. I was thinking: A.) An alternative hold item (maybe Blue Moon Ice Cream or something) that allows parents to pass down any TM's/Move Tutor moves learnable by the baby as egg moves, e.g., (M) Lapras @ Blue Moon Ice Cream - Thunderbolt - Water Pulse - Body Slam - Heal Bell (F) Nidoran @ Blue Moon Ice Cream - Tackle - Growl - Poison Jab - Iron Tail Gives a baby Nidoran with Thunderbolt, Water Pulse, Poison Jab, and Iron Tail. If you have >4, priority goes by moveslot order, or maybe Egg > TM > Tutor B.) Getting an "inactive" form of a TM that cannot be used to teach moves, but will pass on that move to a Baby Pokemon (make them really expensive, require a Pokerus to attach, put them behind some kind of non-monetary obstacle, require both parents, or maybe single-use?) (M) Magcargo @ "Inactive Energy Ball" - Yawn - Ember - Rock Throw - Shell Smash (F) Haunter @ "Inactive Energy Ball" - Curse - Confuse Ray - Spite - Ominous Wind Gives a baby Gastly with Hypnosis, Lick, and Energy Ball. Thoughts? Really want an Ice Beam Nidoking, heh.
  12. Blaziken's (and later Gardevoir/Gallade) are strong enough to carry your team by themselves, so pick whoever you'd like to use later on for other teammates! Kriketune's main attraction is Sticky Web support, and later Perish Song for the really tough boss fights. If you like that, you could go for a Leavanny, who has higher stats and a useful secondary Grass-STAB while still providing Sticky Web. Magneton hits hard and is tanky, while also providing Paralysis, but has a pretty barren movepool (you'll likely have Discharge + Flash Cannon + Thunder Wave + Magnet Rise/Sound.) There's not really any other Electric types with a higher Special Attack, but you might consider Jolteon (amazing speed, shallow movepool), Electivire (really fast, physical STAB), Eelektross (Levitate, better coverage), Luxray (barren movepool, good attack), a Rotom-Form (utility/coverage move), or Ampharos (specially bulky). For lower-BST electric mons, you have Galvantula (Sticky Web, combines Kriketune's slot into 1 Pokemon,) Heliolisk (fast and frail, weather/terrain shenanigans), Electrode (super fast, disruptive against statusers), Stunfisk/Lanturn (tanky, useful secondary typing, tons of support moves, can combine Moine + Golem/Magneton into 1 slot), Zebstrika (unusual immunities based on ability), or one of the electric mice. I don't know about Pelipper. I've had a really good run with her before (Roost + Stockpile), so I'm biased, but the most obvious replacement would be Swanna (+ 43 BST). There's lot of other Pokemon that could go there, though, I'd say just keep fishing and keep your eyes peeled for something that looks fun.
  13. Does anyone know where the mart is that sells Dusk Balls? I have 17x, so I know that it couldn't have just been from the ground, but I forgot where the shop's located. Thanks
  14. Hey! Against Shade's team, you want some kind of set-up sweeper who's not weak to Thunderbolt, as his Gengar has a fairly weak Shadow Claw instead of Shadow Ball. If you can get a couple of boosts in against it, you can easily beat the rest of his team. - Pangoro doesn't learn Crunch until lvl. 42, so you might consider benching him for this fight, as all of his other moves are Normal/Fighting. - For Ampharos, consider giving her Spark to boost her special defense, and toughing his guys out with Thunder Wave + Electro Ball. She'll struggle against Rotom, though! - What gender is your Meowstic? Female Meowstic gets Charge Beam + Shadow Ball and should be fast enough to take on Shade if you level her up to near the level cap, while male Meowstic gets Light Screen to help another member of your team tank hits. - Dusclops gets Shadow Punch at 37, but he's super slow, and Shadow Sneak is a bit too weak to OHKO stuff. You can use him as an emergency, or late-game cleaner (he'll probably be able to tank 1-2 Pokemon and KO them back, but he'll get worn out pretty fast, being weak to Ghost.) - Growlithe gets Crunch at 39 and will be a solid addition, as he can hit/tank everyone on Shade's team. If you have a mining kit, try saving and resetting until you can get a Fire Stone out of a rock. There's 3 side-quest Dark type Pokemon available, as mentioned previously; Carvanha gets Bite at lvl. 1 and also gets Ice Fang for Golett and Trevenankh, but is super frail. Hondour gets Bite/Faint attack, and is a little slower/weaker but has better defenses, and also gets Fire moves (although you already have a Growlithe, so this probably isn't that great.) Murkrow also gets Faint Attack, but it has very weak attack and needs a Dusk Stone to turn into a Moxie-Honchkrow (and doesn't get a stronger Dark move until 55!) Is the Scraggy sidequest in the sewers available right now? Dark/Fighting with the possibility of getting Dragon Dance and Moxie, and Bite/Crunch would be fantastic against Shade! Also: Consider hitting Shade's Pokemon on their secondary types. Gengar is weak to Psychic, Trevenant is weak to Fire/Flying, Golett is weak to Ice/Water/Grass, and Chandelure is weak to Water/Ground/Rock. If you're really stuck, try buying a bunch of Potions + X Speed + X (Special) Attack + X (Special) Defense, as it'll let you "set up" with Pokemon that normally don't learn boosting moves!

    IV Breeding

Hello! I've done a search and I saw the general breeding guide, and I have a couple of more specific questions here. In OR/AS and X/Y, there's a friend safari (mostly interesting because of Ditto, but all other Pokemon will do, as well,) that I believe gives you guaranteed 2 perfect IV's on wild Pokemon caught inside. Also, Pokemon that are in the "no eggs" category (Riolu, Mantyke, most Legendaries) have 3 guaranteed perfect IV's, as well. Because half of those guys evolve based on happiness, you can get a big head start on breeding for IV's by starting with half of the progress done already. I'm not sure what "extra" tools are available in Reborn (Everstone, Destiny Knot, Power Items, Nature Shuffler, Ability Capsule, no IV stones though), and was hoping for some clarification. Is it possible to do anything more efficient than: - Pick a Pokemon of interest. If it's a female, catch a bunch of male Pokemon in the same Egg Group. If it's male, breed with Ditto until you get a female, and do the same as the above. (Have a synchronizer for the correct nature, and go until you have a 31 in each IV you care about.) - Take the female of the Pokemon you want and a male with the correct nature, and breed the two with the male holding an everstone until you get a female with the correct nature. - Breed this new female (holding an everstone) with a male with a perfect IV (holding the correct Power item) until you get a female. This female should have the correct nature +1 perfect IV. - Continue this pattern with a "better" female holding an everstone plus a male with a good IV holding a Power item, until you get a 2-3 IV female of the correct nature. - At this point, you want to repeat the process, except reversing the genders, until you get a male with 2-3 perfect IV's in different categories and the correct nature - Breed your 2-3 IV female with a 2-3 IV male, with one holding an everstone, and the other one holding a Destiny Knot. - Hatch a bunch of eggs until you can get a 4-5 IV Pokemon, replacing either parent with an offspring if it has "better" IV's. - Continue until you can get a 5 IV Pokemon. Slap a Power item on it, and go grind EV's! Egg moves should be done before EV breeding, and TM's don't carry over anymore (not that there's a lot of super strong ones atm, I think.) Whew! I apologize, I haven't actually bred for stats since Ruby/Saphire, so I don't know if I'm missing anything here. Basically, is there any easy way in Reborn to get a Pokemon with 2-3 perfect IV's, or any non-event wild Ditto so you don't have to go and "re-catch" single-perfect IV's for each egg group?
  16. Hi! I tried the search function, but 'Route 3' only return 'route' and 'egg' is too short Does anybody know how to get the egg in the cavern in route 3, and what hatches from it?
  17. Sweet, thanks a bunch guys!
  18. Hello! I tried the search function and didn't see another topic about this, so: What strategies did you guys use to beat the lvl. 75 Arceus? I'm trying to do it in a "traditional" way, but right now it basically 1-shots everyone on my team. My team is: (lvl 60, generally 252 Speed + 252 relevant attacking stat) Mamoswine (EQ, Icicle Crash, Ice Shard, Scary Face) Scraggy (HJK, Crunch, Dragon Dance, Rock Climb) Arcanine (Flare Blitz, Heat Wave, Morning Sun, Extreme Speed) Gardevoir (Psychic, Draining Kiss, Calm Mind, Hypnosis) Leavanny (Fell Stinger, Leaf Blade, X-Scissor, Sticky Web) HM Slave/Pickup Teddiursa I was hoping that I could bait a missed Focus Blast into a Scary Face from Mamoswine, and do enough chip damage with the 3 other members to get a KO with Scraggy's HJK, but Arceus's AI seems to have figured out that a Judgement is enough to OHKO Mamoswine. I also tried shattering the crystal field with EQ, but Judgement/Shadow Ball still OHKO's the rest of my team, none of whom outspeed. Is there any other strategy I could do here? I have 14 Heart Scales. I eventually got fed up and bred a Prankster + Perish Song Murkrow, but I'd like to beat Arceus legitimately, if possible. Any suggestions to the last team member/strategy I can use? Also, does anyone know if the Toxic TM is available? Google said it was unavailable in Episode 14, but I'd really like to get a Recycle/Toxic Oran Berry Magnemite if there are going to be a lot more miniboss fights like this. I dealt with the Garchomp with a ton of revives + Baby-Doll Eyes from Teddiursa, which also made me feel pretty bad.
  19. Hey! Not sure if it's linked to the day/your current progress, but there's (for me) always a random trainer that changes based on day inside the official Reborn atrium (the building where you got your first starter and gives out directions to where you go next. It's the one where you first start your journey, by the bridge connecting Opal/Peridot/Onyxia.) I think that the trainer will always have a team of ~4-6 Pokemon who are 0-3 levels under your current badge cap. I'm currently level-capped at 60, and today's trainer had: Mawile (57): Ice Fang, Iron Head, Play Rough, Sucker Punch Carracosta (56): Rain Dance, Shell Smash, Rock Slide, Aqua Tail Weavile (60, Choice Band): Icicle Crash, Low Kick, Poison Jab, Night Slash Xatu (58, Leftovers): Reflect, Light Screen, Roost, Giga Drain You get infinite re-battles, and there's a healing center in the same building! If you're concerned about EV's, you can buy a Power item from the 5th (?) floor of the Onyxia department store and fully EV your team on the wild lvl 1-4 Pokemon outside, so you don't need to worry about the random lineups inside! Also, the trainer pays out ~2000 each time, and you're a 30 second walk away from the candy shop for Common Candies! As for Ground types, Crookodile is super strong but lacks a way to boost its speed, but there's a lot of other Dark types that might compete for a slot (Drapion, Scraggy, Sharpedo), as is Mamoswine (but you have to breed Icicle Crash onto it by raising a Cubchoo to lvl. 40 first, and it doesn't get any non-TM/egg physical coverage outside of EQ + Thrash.) If you have a Link Stone, Golem is always a solid choice, as he gets a useful boosting move, EdgeQuake STAB from level-up, always useful utility Stealth Rock + Explosion, and Sturdy as a fantastic ability so you always can get 1 move off up in a bad matchup. I personally dislike Bunnelsby and Rhyperior aesthetically, but Rhyperior has a monstrous BST + Solid Rock + Megahorn from level-up, as long as you have a Protector, and Bunnelsby is basically the fastest Ground-type you can easily get your hands on outside of Sand Rush Excadrill, although I believe that even with Huge Power, you only have ~112 Attack, and you don't get any normal STAB outside of Quick Attack + Flail, unless Return is available? Others off the top of my head: Nidoking/queen: Probably the strongest specially, excellent mixed stats, but you really want a Life Orb + a bunch of TMs to fully utilize Sheer Force. Excadrill: Monstrously strong, extremely fast, but lacks strong Rock and Steel moves and is a pain to catch in Tanzan Depths if you care about EVs. Sandslash: Slow, slightly weak, no useful STAB outside of EQ. Steelix: Very poor speed, doesn't have enough special bulk to offset it. Struggles against coverage moves later on, tends to have weak STAB/coverage. Donphan: Decently strong, a tad slow, barren movepool (Thrash + EQ + Knock Off + Rollout, maybe Elemental Fangs) Swampert: I never figured out how to do the event. Very good mixed stats, slightly weaker as a pure physical attacker. Camerupt: Fantastic coverage/STABs, held back by average stats/bulk and slow speed. Fire typing is usually a plus. Wishcash: Aqua Tail + Earthquake, but a little slow. Really low attack without Dragon Dance to back it up, and if you have a Gyarados to breed it, odds are Gyara is better with Moxie + gargantuan base attack. Claydol: I don't like the aesthetic, but it's primarily a defensive Pokemon. Only natural attacking moves are Earth Power + Psybeam + Ancientpower. Gastrodon: Painfully slow, but otherwise solid stats. Doesn't learn a Ground-type attack by level-up. Seismitoad: The jiggling things weird me out! Good stats, but doesn't learn a Ground-type attack by level-up. Golurk: I think this one was removed?
