  1. Champion and Elite Four speculations are fun. I see Anna as being a member of the Elite Four because for whatever reason I want to attach Elite Four members to the four Keystones, As for champions, for some reason I feel like Ame will pull a Gen 5 and make Lin our champion, perhaps even in a disguise or something, as people seem to recognize her yet without proposing a name, as if they acknowledge the face but with differences that throws them off. Maybe my opinions are biased because I don't want Arclignt to be in either the E4 or be the Champion because he doesn't really play too huge a role in the plot -- I even forgot completely about him until I started my second play-through.
  2. Oh why not, I'll post something that may not add a substantially huge amount. I've recieved advice from others in creating characters to privately create a characters's backstory and personality, and focus on a characters behaviors and sentence structure based on those. As an author of the dialog, you should know everything about why a character says something or does something, but limit your in-game explaination of why to only certain amounts, that leaves each character a bit mysterious and furthermore interesting -- even when what guides your actions appears obvious to yourself. Perhaps they want to avoid a certain topic or inexplicitely hate Psychic Type Pokemon, that may contribute to another reason why we would want to continue playing, due to our investment and curiosity in every character. Also keep in mind not to make anything too objective, whenever we relay information, we have our own attitudes and opinions on nearly every single topic we discuss. Think of how your character WOULD feel in each situation and choose their words carefully, even if they are just repeating a message, they could still pause, draw emphasis to certain details, and etc. Another thing that I really seem to love about characters is when they're detailed enough for us to have an opinion on them. In Reborn, we Alove to hate Fern, and we also enjoy being uncomfortable around Cain. Perhaps in summary, I'm suggesting for every character, establish a basis for the conception of the character, and use that as your secret causation behind their behaviors. As a final peice of advice, I suggest instead of having characters act autonomously to carry on the plot, create outlying scenarios that urges characters to act a certain way that indirectly carries on the plot. Cain doesn't raid the Orphanage so that the protagonist can later challenge the gym leaders in confinement and recieve both keystones held by the children there. He more so appears to raid the Orphanage due to his concern for Heather, which he likely relates to due to his similarities between her total loss of family, and Cain's falling out with his family. This establishes more to the characters than using them as a mere plot device. Wow that was long than I thought it would be, I expected like one paragraph max.
  3. What if it is a battle-base, but it is reserved for a potential battle against a legendary, which would be more accommodating of such a large sprite. I can't think of way to justify this in the overworld, as its showcased in a top down view and would strange if an object was angled with the top and front side visible in this manner, and it's not like we're treated to any dynamic camera angles which can justify its presence. That reserves it for being used in the battle scene. Where it is also angled in a BIT of a strange way, but ultimately faces us like other platforms. This wouldn't be our first battle against a legendary either. We've already battled an Arceus (okay fine ditto) and Mewtwo in previous episodes. I wouldn't find it out of place if we find ourselves battling another legendary next time.
  4. All I really desire is some type of frame or windowscreen which embodies the PULSE program, although something simple and nonspecific. Like the symbol emitting a strange glow or etc.
  5. An alternate option is starting a new game, I recently started a new game opting for Protean Froakie, and all went well -- it was hilarious because I somehow managed to beat the first gym with pretty much only Froakie (I had a plan on my team and didn't want to catch undesirables). Thanks Protean Quick-Attack.
  6. And some Pokemon are Limited Event Only Pokemon, meaning you're forced to receive one or the other, but never both (like in choosing starters, or that one egg that you find at a location).
  7. I believe that's what Ame is doing for the next Episode, it's also kind of the reason the next episode will take longer to complete. Basically she plans to divide move animations across the next three updates -- I don't think Moonblast is going to be in the next episode specifically though, it's too far along down the alphabet. :c You can see on the EP16 Discussion Thread thingy some of the animations Amethyst has posted quite a few pages back to see some examples of already completed animations, just to get an idea of what we will see.
  8. You had Pearl? No way, I had pearl. Alright, I'm destined to post here. Congratulations, with eight gym badges you've gotten to the point in the game where the gym leaders begin to "forget" that there is a level cap. May Arceus have mercy on your soul.
  9. So far I'm liking the idea of Airy from Bravely Default. I especially love how when initially poised as your annoying little Navi-like companion, you eventually learn that she's been manipulating you the entire game to cause the destruction of the world. The title-screen even revealed this, when initially having the subtitle "Where the Fairy Flies," after you reach the point in the game where you learn enough about Airy, the heading transforms into "Where the Fairy Flies." Also we learn that our original assumed Antagonists were actually out for the protection of the world, although in many cases not preforming this task in the most moral manner, and we've been going against the fate of the world the entire time by following Airy's designs. I also like how the game gives you chances to oppose Airy before the End-Game, or dragging along to face the much stronger final boss at the end.
  10. Now my personal goal for today is defeating all of these levels. I made a level that was okay I guess. But it has only a 4.44% clear rate... Opps. 8520-0000-002D-7433
  11. Yeah, the only way I was able to manipulate Charlotte's field was to apply Rain Dance and await the magical Drought Ninetales to create a rainbow. That and Mist, of course. But her field DOES seem a bit more rigid than the other leaders, whose fields can be destroyed by using one appropriate move. But beating Charlotte for the first time was very rewarding, like seriously... what's the story? She basically destroyed me with her field without me being able to KO a single Pokemon, and I never picked up the TM for Rain Dance. However, I cleverly knew that Bronzongs naturally learned Rain Dance, so I went out to catch one nearby, opting to find a one with Heatproof. However, on capture, this Bronzong did not know Rain Dance, so I ran all the way over to Agate, liquidated a Heart Scale to relearn Rain Dance, and marched my way back, also teaching Bronzong the move Trick Room. It was a hard fought battle. I'm probably going to prepare more this run...
  12. I was able to take out Kiki with pretty much just Psychic attacks, but I'm sure that you tried that already... if you haven't, try starting out with Munna and seeing how you fare. I know Kiki specializes in Fighting Types, so naturally they're weak against... what are they... Psychic, Fairy and Flying types? What Pokemon does she have that does especially well at sweeping your team? Think of what weaknesses there you can exploit. If you manage to put one of her Pokemon to sleep, perhaps you could try setting up a Future Sight or two before abruptly attacking the resting beast. It could help knock out or apply heavy damage to a few of her Pokemon, especially if they're particularly bulky. She is also one of those gym leaders where you don't receive a badge right after you beat her, and will have to go through QUITE a bit of story progression before you can actually raise your Cap, so just try not to do too much, but you have played through this once before, so you should already know that. Sorry if I'm not that much help, I'm just now starting my second run and I'm only up to Corey, not QUITE back to Kiki yet.
  13. How much would Campbell's Avengers soup heal our Pokemon though? Oh who am I kidding too OP, 20 stickers on the required top floor of the Obsidia Department Store. Everyone in Ametrine will starve because they aren't cool enough for delicious soup.
  14. Actually, they do not. We're playing on the assumption that Arceus is the RNG God, and he is clearly on El's side for Team Meteor. The RNG is so strong that no one has ever witnessed an occurrence of their pokemon actually disobeying. It's baffling really, the odds of this actually going for this long is unfathomable. So we're just going to blame Arceus, because he is the cause for suffering in SO MANY fan games.
  15. Probably the biggest pushover was Kiki, she had literally nothing to cover Psychic, and considering my starter was Fennekin... well, she was set up to lose. Although what's depressing is my laughter at defeating her so easily was very quickly replaced with tears. I cry every time. Stupid soothsaying computer screens.
  16. Probably the most important thing I can think of is to keep your team fairly balanced, and when in doubt, find a way to destroy the field effects your opponent uses. Oh, and try keeping track of some side-events that are rather important. Don't be like me and save the Daycare Couple at the conclusion of Episode 15. I have no idea how they survived that long, they frankly should of been dead. They could of been very useful had I saved them earlier. :c
  17. A nitwit like me deserves to be nitpicked. Anyways, I'll be sure to fix it.
  18. So I just started my second run, would it be worth mentioning that perhaps Amethyst herself could be our Champion in addition to the manager of the Reborn League? I mean, the bombing of the train into Peridot Station probably had a target in mind, and everyone on that train that wasn't a generic NPC was yourself and Ame. Perhaps Team Meteor was intent on targetting Ame? Champions tend to be subtle, unexpected, yet touched on quite a bit before their unmasking, I find Ame would be an interesting fit. Ehh... it's a bit too uncertain but it's something to think about. Go on discussing the discussion.
  19. Oh yeah... It was Sirius! I forgot about that part. I'm just now starting my second run, so I may of forgotten that little detail. Good thing that doesn't disprove it, I'll have to edit my post to fix that. Thanks! There was another topic like this? Do you know of the thread? I'd love to check it out and see if they found something I have not. As for the Interview, it does indeed establish that Anna is a powerful trainer, but it doesn't clearly state her position. Just saying that she's one of the best doesn't outright confirm her position. When Anna indicates she beat out all the rest, we don't know EXACTLY what she beat out all the rest in, perhaps she beat out all the rest in her chosen type, as any member of the Elite would do? But I'll give you credit, this certainly IS something to think about, and perhaps I should add this in via a spoiler to give anyone that to consider as well. Thanks for the information though. On another note, I just noticed how I connected Laura to the Sapphire Bracelets and her eldest sister is named Sapphira, a namesake perhaps?
  20. These past few days, probably my favorite topic to dwell on has been regarding who exactly are those trainers we'll be facing towards the end of the game are. Of course, there are several people whom have orchestrated likely scenarios, but I think they were missing something. I'm certain we're all aware of how crafty our beloved Amethyst is, so I would never put it past her to silently hand us all the pieces to put together the Elite Four so soon. Disclaimer: Since disclaimers are the best part of every thread, I'd like to note that I decided to create a separate thread to discuss the Elite Four because I felt like I was bringing something new to the table that I didn't want to get lost in the middle of some huge 20 page thread. Also, if there's someone else out there that has beaten me to this particular point, sorry, I didn't know. Great minds think alike I guess, and I have an amazing ego so you must be the embodiment of awesome. On with the show. The Ordeal: I've taken note of how, like four members of the Elite Four, there are four keystones (Ruby, Amethyst, Emerald, and Sapphire). That was totally necessary to point out because I'm a great counter. So anyways, I'd like to use this thread to talk about my speculated connections between the Elite Four and the Keystones, as I've noticed some interesting things. Before we really get to it, I'd like to discuss the apparent significance of the four keystones, as they aren't limited to only those ancient ruins below. We see their colors all throughout Reborn, decorating gates, doors, and whatnot. The examples I can think of offhand are the doors to the Wasteland, Desert, Grand Hall, and especially on the Grand Gate; additionally, I recently noticed the colorful stones surrounding the Grand Hall also flaunt similar hues. In general, even on the surface we can see that they are very important to the entirety of the league. Another worthwhile thing to mention is how each keystone is in the form of some type of jewelry, instead of ever being a regular key. By masquerading as an accessory, it's a person's attachment to a keystone can be more clearly defined, in any other scenario, the keys would be locked away somewhere; in Reborn, the Keystones are worn by people and occasionally clash with your outfit. Transitioning back into the Elite Four, as of episode 15, Heather is a confirmed member of the Elite Four, El has been dubbed "one of the elite" and boasts of possessing the influence to make Bennett an additional member of the Elite Four, and Laura is fired from her formerly confirmed position as a member of the Elite Four. Leading off, we have these four "key" players. (Aren't I funny? I sure am.) Heather El Bennett Laura Keystone Origins: As talented as I am a stand-up comedian, perhaps instead I'll knock out what I believe are the easiest Elite connections to the keystones. Ruby, "the seal of pain" (quotations are ripped from Sirius' speech when accessing the Reborn Ruins below the Grand Stairway.) Heather had received the Ruby Ring from her father, and is a confirmed member of the Elite Four. In regards to pain, between the betrayal of Heather's father participating in Team Meteor, Corey's suicide, and Heather's running away from home and eventual abuse by Doctor Sigmund and Blake, Heather is already no stranger to pain. Thus, the Ruby Keystone should be rightfully her's. In addition, we have confirmation from Episode 14, that Heather's mother was previously a member of the Elite Four, and that the Ruby Ring formerly belonged to her mother. Emerald, "the seal of faith" El had retrieved the Emerald Keystone from his daughter Luna, although with him being the original owner. At his exposition, it is obvious that El is a religious man. With his aims to resurrect Arceus, and his management of an entire devoted cult, with which he attempted to preform a mental cleansing on his own daughter's mind, we can establish his clear ties to faith. Also, keeping up the father-daughter theme, I love it. That leaves two Elite Four Members and two Keystones. The next easiest to explain would be the Amethyst Keystone, "the seal of the beyond." Continuing this pattern, Anna would be bound to the Elite Four by the Amethyst Pendant, which she received from her parents, and holds on to while in the custody of Sigmund, fretting anxiously at its theft. I don't think it takes much to link Anna to the beyond, considering she exhibits some otherworldly abilities. Specifically, I'm referring to her ability to distinguish us with a glow, her reports of hearing voices in Doctor Sigmund's presence, and her description of Cain's eyes as completely black. Additionally, her imaginary friend, Nostra is a Jirachi, the wish pokemon. To establish Anna's prowess as a potential Elite Four member, I've noted at Anna's exposition, we're treated to the following dialog: Charlotte: "So, you saw Laura on the way out, yeah? That's my sister. She's also one of Reborn's Elite Four. Awesome kind of runs in our family. No big deal." Noel: "If you're going to say that, you may as well mention how Anna-" Anna: "Yeah! Laura's so cool! And Charlotte and Noel are also Gym Leaders~" Noel: "..." From this conversation, it's easily implied that Anna wields some prominent position in the Reborn League, based on the timing of Noel's attempted clause and Anna's swift interruption. As we already know, all the gym leaders, we can establish that she must be either a member of the Elite Four, or the Champion of the Reborn League. In theory, this could imply that she might be a reserve gym leader (if I want to be lame and destroy my own theory), but for simplicity's sake, I'll claim otherwise. In fact, it's been brought to my attention Gossip Gardevoir has been on the case! In this rather recent interview, Anna has been established as "one of the best," and she admits that she "beat out all the rest" to gain her rank. Of course, this could support a conflicting theory that Anna is our champion, but from my perspective, this isn't so obviously drawn out. For instance, Anna could have beaten out the rest among Psychic Trainers, the single type in which she specializes in. Either way, we're pretty set on the assumption that Anna is the master of Psychic types. The Elite Four are subsequently highly respected and the honors dedicated to them shouldn't deviate too far from that of the Champion. Additionally, after all the mayhem Amethyst has caused us thus far, I don't find it likely that our Champion will submit to a single type akin to how the Elites ultimately must. My position is that this probably affirms Anna's status as our fourth member of the Elite Four, with her having ties to bound to one of the four keystones in sync with the other Elites I've discussed thus far. This leaves just one more Keystone, the Sapphire Keystone, the seal of love, which is FIRMLY in the possession of... Amaria, the water gym leader? This requires some hefty explanation... Upon meeting Amaria and Titania at the Fiore Mansion, you're told a number on the Sapphire Bracelets, and how they were a gift from Titania. Conveniently, Amaria idly asks Titania from where she had received the Sapphire Bracelets, with which she replied: "A long time ago, I was wandering around in the Chrysolia Region and found a hidden lake. Across the lake, the ground was covered in ash. Some building had burned down. It was partly buried in the ash, but completely unharmed by the flames. It seemed important, so I took it with me." When I first came across this strand of text, I found it inconsequential and quickly forgot it, although this mysterious origin story gives off more clues than at first glance. At some point I made the connection that perhaps the charred building mentioned here could be the former home of our resident Firebug, Charlotte, and of course, her sisters Laura and Saphira. What's that? In the Chrysolia Region? A hidden lake? Burned down!? That CERTAINLY sounds like Laura, Charlotte, and Saphira. My primary assumption here is the Sapphire Keystone once belonged to Laura and the rest of her family, that was before Sirius burned down their house and completely ruined everyone's day. Not cool, Sirius. Also, it would also be fun to mention how the eldest sibling is named Saphira, could this perchance be a namesake to said Keystone? This could be the nail in the coffin that connects the bracelets to Laura, our precious terminated Elite Four darling. Additionally, during our short stay in the Chrysolia Region, Laura actually refers to losing these same Sapphire Bracelets in the fire, making those now in Amaria's possession the same that once belonged to Laura. In regards to the seal of love, despite sounding attributable to Amaria and Titania, their love isn't particularly pure. Whilst reading Titania's diary, we learn that love is a facade to keep Amaria feeling secure and joyous. However, love itself is ambiguous, so these same Sapphire Bracelets could stand in representing the bond between sisters Charlotte, Laura, and Saphira; sisterly love, that new kind of love Disney won't shut up about these days? Yeah, that. It conquers what a kiss from an attractive specimen of the opposite sex cannot. Conclusion: TL;DR So, I've basically attributed each of the four keystones to a separate person, who each has their secured their own position within the Elite Four, except for Laura because she was fired, sorry Laura. Ruby - Heather Amethyst - Anna Emerald - El Sapphire - Laura Assuming these are all valid connections, and I solved the puzzle just like Amethyst wanted us to (Reborn knows Ame likes her puzzles), perhaps could we attribute a greater purpose to the Elite Four? Could it be suggested, Instead of mere hurdles before the Champion, in Reborn, could they potentially be some sort of guardians for said Keystones? I'll not dwell on that because it's a whole different can of worms. But wait... how does Bennett play into all of this? Well, unfortunately, he kind of doesn't. My assumption is after the beautiful fire show Sirius put on, Laura lost possession of her Keystone, giving her the excuse to be eventually booted with the proper nudge from El, thus giving Bennett the opportunity to hop aboard. Closing off, I'd like to speculate the Elite Four would be: Heather, El, Bennett, and Anna. I have no idea who the Champion is though so um... not these guys? So does anyone else have anything to add to either strengthen the evidence provided in my argument, or anything to derail this theory and submit me to crying in the corner? Maybe you can even elaborate on some things where I'm vague. I'd love to hear it. Ame. Ame. Am I right? I know you're not going to tell me if I'm right or not, but am I right?
  21. Salutations! Thus begins my formal greeting. I intend for this to be yet another paragon of verbal expression, so please begin your onerous strifes to construe my remarks. Was that over the top enough, or should I keep going? Well, there is that one guy who claims "less is more" - and that person is a liar. To talk about myself, I guess I'll begin with a few things that I consider to be cliche. I'm the kind of person who enjoys Pokemon, but in a public place whispers of it as if it were on the black-market. Yes, I'm that person. I fear judgement, excommunication, and public execution -- it could happen, it's completely fabricated and unreasonable of an assumption, but it could happen. I consider myself some sort of combination of profuse honesty and sadistic sarcasm. No, I don I wouldn't quite consider myself as a troll, yet sometimes the more heartless of my remarks instigates turmoil between me and another. That's why I often speak cautiously around new people -- they say I'm very boring, that's how I know it works. 't plan on using them at the same time, how would that even work? Although, I occasionally hurt people's feelings, though it mostly happens without my noticing, and in advance: I apologize. I typically swing with humor a bit more tangent to darker themes, as I'm a teenager and that's how things seem to work right now... but I am still fairly dense when people get into more vulgar tones. People have often laughed at me for needing explanation of some things. I'm probably over-exaggerating, but this is my introduction to myself, I will rule this post with a trenchant hand! (as long as the mods say it's okay) In my free-time, other than reading the dictionary, I enjoy wasting time on the internet, wasting time playing games, and panicking about due dates; they're all very fun activities, the third one seems to be my favorite, I do it so often! I typically enjoy games that are either RPGs, or involve Strategy. Some of the games I enjoy are Pokemon and the Fire Emblem Series, if I felt like wasting our time, I would construct two very long and drawn out explanation of what the two of those things are. In addition, I've also recently decided I don't hate the Final Fantasy Series, so I guess that can conclude my obsession with anime-looking characters. I want to be the best at every strategy game on the planet at the same time, I think I finally understand that that's simply not possible. I've instead settled for striving for those who are in my peer group. As long as I feel superior, I've achieved my hollow goal. So from what I hear, this game is extremely punishing, luckily I'm not plotting a Nuzlocke, that would be as much of a disaster as Fire Emblem Awakening on Lunatic+ Mode. If you deciphered that reference, you deserve a cookie. Unfortunately, there is no one here to give you a cookie, but at least now you can live under the belief that someone out there owes you a cookie. Would anyone like to give me any threatening remarks that portend the difficulty of the game before I start? How often is it that you get to frighten an oblivious person? I think I've established the darker side of my personality, but I promise I'm generally nice -- I've just focused on the bad things because that's more entertaining. It's true I'm a sell-out! Anyways, I'm so glad I was motivated by the incentive of posting, maybe you'll see me around at progressively expanding frequencies over the next month before I finally am silenced. After I'm gone you can think of me as a martyr of grammar and horrible metaphors. (I just said the word martyr and now I've reminded myself of Emmeryn... :c ) Anyways, this post has gone on long enough, now that I've spent so much time on this post, I'll create a separate message for the slightly apathetic. TL;DR Hi, I'm IdleThoughts.
