  1. Seeing as my Guide post got lots of flak, I'd like to remind everyone that my Sheep RP does not have any of the rules listed in that Guide. Seriously, it's totally lax. :o

    1. Sheep

      Sheep

There is an RP where everyone tries to RP me? This I've gotta see.

    2. Yash

      Yash

      Sheepy!!!

  2. Since I manipulate the situation, I have to shift. Using set just makes switching moves totally haxor and ruins any chance of strategy.
  3. (Ah, sorry about that.) I did not mean the worth of the skill but how well the skill was performed. A goal in football doesn't matter to me, either, but it takes practice to do so - which is the skill I was referring to.
  4. Whether they actually had offensive content or not isn't the point. While I may take the words of a large group to be of a high rather than low possibility, I'll admit if I'm wrong. The point was that they did NOT ban those subreddits for their content, whatever that content may have been. They ONLY banned it for the name. If their requirements for banning are this fickle, I'm sure they will go the same route as YouTube - banning everything ever reported at any time by anyone.
  5. I would rather fail potential RPers than fail my RP. Last time I checked, the foundation of the worldwide education system was teaching to the test. Wait, so you're complaining to me about not understanding the subjectivity of things, and yet you claim that what I'm saying is ultimately wrong? I did not say they were intrinsically bad. And yes, I do have that right when I am the RP Master. Having a tier of literacy to point to when describing my own rules for my own RP is helpful; you may not use it but others will, which does not invalidate my action to post that link for others to see. Please point out the typo. If you fail to inspire others, you've failed as a leader. No one is going to follow someone who lacks faith in them. You may not believe it is important to contribute motivation, but I do. Art skill is not subjective; the meaning of art and aesthetics of beauty are. Every discipline of art and concept of beauty has a sliding scale of technique, which is traveled upon when training. The totality of that training is skill. Skill is testable and is not subjective.
  6. What. I don't get it: Are you stating that good roleplaying requires good writing or that good writing is not required for good roleplaying and vice versa?
  7. Yessss, that'sss riiight. Keeeep goooiiiing. I feeeed on your haaaate.

I like spicy food.. Yum... *starts drooling..

  8. The banned subreddits didn't do that, though. They were mainly named ironically and contained jeering towards other subreddits that really did spend all day offending people. They were banned because of their titles, not their content. That's like if I was named Jailbird and no one ever hired me even though I had no record.
  9. I do not find it offensive when a person acknowledges the difference between this: "haxor l33t :D meowmeow 456'd dat junk!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!@" ...and this: "As she pondered her plight, Madame Jezebel Tutor moved briskly through the evergreen wood. Acknowledging the severity of her predicament, the young lady could place few friends and a plethora of enemies. If only she had made more alliances than rivalries, perhaps her situation would not have been so grim." Literacy levels are not the same as competency levels. They exist as a tool for RP Masters to specify the base level of literacy they desire in their RP. The rules linked above are general rules found in any RP, described in better detail than I have seen them described in any threads in this forum so far. They contained many terms useful for RP Masters to use to describe the parameters they want in their RP; they are not meant to govern every RP in this forum and I never stated as such. As for writing ability, I have found that writing itself does not improve said ability. Rather, it is the reactions to one's writing and the reading of others' writing that improves writing ability. If you do not set a standard for people to look up to and improve upon, they will never improve, period. The idea that writing itself improves writing ability is the foundation of sites like FanFiction.Net, and the writing there is terrible. Many members of such sites believe that they're ready to write novels just because similar authors applauded them for their terrible writing. That method does not work. I'm not saying that the writers on here are terrible. Most are atleast good enough to pass high school English, which is good enough for the Internet. What I am saying is this: If you tell someone that their writing is good enough, that their roleplaying is good enough, that anything they do is good enough, they will NOT aspire to get any better. This principle is universal and it also applies to roleplaying, no matter what site that roleplaying is on. Skill is not subjective, only testable.

  11. Perusing the roleplaying section, I have noticed that many roleplayers are unaware of basic roleplaying guidelines and have no idea how to increase their roleplaying potential. Let's be honest, the current guides for the roleplaying section leave much to be desired and lack examples. I will list a few links that can turn you from a roleplaying novice into a roleplaying master. Read them. Da Rules: http://www.gaiaonline.com/forum/gaia-guides-and-resources/a-users-guide-to-roleplaying-leave-a-comment/t.70051961/ Literacy Levels: http://subeta.net/forums.php/read/109608 The above does not include the Elite level. Elite is generally the same as Advanced with the requirement of having no spelling or grammar errors, being written with eloquent English, and containing what is equal to pages of text within one post. Various excellent examples of Gaia-style roleplaying, which basically consists of pimped out Literate+ posts: http://www.gaiaonline.com/forum/test-forum/roleplay-layouts-no-posty-posty-c/t.76125425_1/ An excellent example of an Advanced RP, Gaia-style: http://www.gaiaonline.com/forum/series-related-miscellaneous-role-play/hogwarts-is-home-hp-next-gen-o/t.96897863_1/ You don't need to pimp your posts. This is not Gaia Online. Those examples simply exist to train RP building skills and help roleplayers understand how to properly contribute to an RP. Many of you would like to TL;DR those. Don't. Read them properly and I guarantee that you will no longer make any roleplaying mistakes. Thank you for your time.
  12. -NOTICE- I would like to remind everyone that this is an RP. RPs require interaction between the characters within, which is why I ended the OP the way that I did. It was meant to encourage the next posters to be a part of the flock mine would meet, a flock they would craft themselves which I would then respond to by acknowledging the description those posters created. RPs require you to describe both your character and the situation that the character is in. RPs are not areas for philosophical inquiry, rather stories told by multiple people who roleplay as their characters in their posts, each RPer contributing to a greater story overall. RPs are NOT short stories and they are NOT solo acts. Please take this seriously. This RP may be light-hearted but it is not made for trolling. From this point forward, any post I find to be trolling will be reported as such. -END OF NOTICE- EDIT: An RPer who once had a post directly above this one had a problem following the rules. Their main problem, as they stated in a PM, is shown here: This anonymous individual was confused about two things. First, they were confused about the level of intelligence of a sheep, as shown in the below image. Second, they assumed that they had any right to question my rules and my rationality of the limitations of the characters in my RP. They were wrong. In an RP, the RP Master is equivalent to the GOD of the RP's universe, in the same way that a Dungeon Master is the equivalent to the GOD of their D&D session. If you want to be in an RP, you will obey the RP Master; this is the same for every RP and every RP Master. The matter is not up for debate - you will follow the RP rules or you will be banned from the RP. Deal with it. Thank you for your time.
  13. Really it was just random, except for the ending. It's a silent tradition on my mother's side for girls to have "a" at the end, so I copied that tradition into my online name as well. :3 I've been using this name ever since, for years and years.

  15. This is a unique type of RP I've wanted to try out for a while. There is no character sheet. Anyone can join at any time. There must be no dialogue. You can only be a sheep and you must describe your life as a sheep. You may have a name (and a backstory), but no one can refer to you as that name since they won't know it. Be creative in your description of your sheep's looks and actions. It can even look like a Mareep if you want, but you'll have to describe the features rather than just saying it looks like a Mareep. You can talk OOC at any time by typing in red above the IC area, such as I am doing here. Enjoy! ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I...am a sheep. I am so fluffy that I can bounce on my fleece. I love bouncing. Every time I land on the blue grass, the golden swirls on my purple wool gleam and glitter. Sometimes, when I bounce at night, the golden swirls send light to flowers nearby, causing them to bloom. I love eating these flowers; they taste so much better than normal (but give me hiccups). I love my shepherdess. She's so good at hovering my flock when we go through portals to other areas. I love hovering down to new areas; it makes me feel like our good neighbors, the reindeers. My shepherdess is so pretty. She has dark, dark skin, blonde hair, and red eyes, as well as a cute child-like figure despite her being an adult. My shepherdess is the best wind wielder in her village and the best at giving me rubs. *0* Today, my flock will be meeting a flock with a different shepherd(ess). I'm so excited to meet them that I'm already bouncing on the way there! What fun I'll have with my new friends!
  16. I looked it up and found that the 5 subreddits they just banned were not violating any rules nor offending anyone, according to a large number of the reddit community. This basically tells me that reddit is going to end up like youtube.
  17. It would be the bee's knees if there was a sidequest in a pokemon game that ended up being longer than the main story. The only way to find it would be through some random out-of-the-place series of events no NPC hints at. It would not be required to do anything in the game, not even to catch all of the pokemon. It would just be there, waiting for the game's community to discover and go "OMG LOOK WHAT I FOUND"

At this point you might as well go all out and suggest a full-fledged alternate route a la Soul Nomad.

    2. Rezilia

      Rezilia

No, no, no. It has to be just a side quest. Making it a different route would spoil everything. It's supposed to be a surprise.

It's like falling into an Inner World with giant mushrooms in which all wild battles are triple battles. It's supposed to throw the community for a loop. Every hour they go along this sidequest, they'll be thinking "how long is this?!"

Eventually there will even be creepypastas about it. Yes...

But, like, wouldn't it make sense to make pokemon as the episodes are released, that way you can adjust them to fit the progression of difficulty as noted by the players?

    4. Tomas Elliot

      Tomas Elliot

That would mean having to redefine the library of the Pokemon present in the game with each new releae. Which in turn would mean that it would take MUCH longer to release a new episode, and at the risk of more bugs.

  20. No, y'all haven't ever done it before. Thanks for the support. I didn't mean to word anything offensively; if I did, I apologize. Mainly this was in response to a small number of members who have been...aggressive about their opposition to certain things that offended them, although not by other members. I just felt they were going a bit too far when laying that foundation. It's nothing to report; they didn't do anything wrong. They just sounded a bit too headstrong.

  22. Recent forum activity has stirred up something in me that I hate. It's the feeling of being pointed out, accused, and suspected of wrongdoing, being labeled guilty until proven innocent. I understand that most of you would not consciously blame anyone of doing anything without proof; the problem is that some of you are doing it, whether you are aware of it or not. Ever since I was younger, I had been bullied countless times - physically, emotionally, and otherwise. It wasn't teasing or trolling of any kind. It was assault and blame-gaming. Every single time that this was reported, I was sent to an authority and punished. I, the bullied, got in trouble - not for starting fights, but for being a part of them. While this was going on, the bullies themselves were not given any punishment; they did not even have their involvement written down. I understand that none of you are like those bullies or like that authority. Nonetheless, any form of accusation without evidence brings back a large wave of trauma. Every time you address the majority, the minority, or anyone or anything of doing anything wrong without the readers/audience deserving the accusation, you bring back that trauma. If you feel offended by the possible actions of others, it is okay to note what actions may offend you. It is NOT okay to act as if those reading your text or listening to your voice will potentially do those actions. Assuming that anyone will do wrongdoing is itself wrong. It is a form of bullying. It is antagonization. It is the expression of a lack of faith in the audience. It is offensive. I would not have written this post if the issue had not already come up, if the members of the forum had not already made this mistake. I hope you will do the same as me from now on - making sure that you do not accuse innocent people and only bringing up a tough subject like this if a sufficient amount of the audience has actually done the offensive action. Thank you.
