Quick question: with the migration to gen 8, will all pokemon learnsets also be updated, along with the new TM and TRs? Like for example Growlithe used to get Close Combat via egg move but in gen 8 it's TR only.

We're not removing any moves from learnpools, only adding moves that have been added to theirs in gen 8.

Hello, it will be the full V13 or just part of it that it will be released?

V13 will contain all of the main story content for this version, along with a pair of sidequests. V13.5 is a separate patch that will get released later down the line that will contain a bunch of additional sidequests that have been pushed back due to the workload for the main release simply becoming too much otherwise.

I will admit, I am gonna miss the old black and red too for most of Xen, but it fits where it is given (like Geara, Cassandra, etc).  Even the grunts look really great!  Are the Death Wings going to get a similar overhaul (Like with the gray and red), or are they going to stay the same?

The designs for the deathwings will likely also get a slight overhaul, but likely will be a simple color scheme adjustment + a few other small changes as their designs are already relatively unique as is. It's likely being kept for V13.5 though, due to that they don't really appear as often in the story in comparison to the grunts and admins, plus the workload is high enough as is.

Will the new release change any of the existing game? Or is it entirely new content?

Yes, there's updates to older areas both graphically and storywise to improve overall story flow and tying up loose ends that were previously unaddressed.

I don't wanna be rude but, why even add Gen 8 ?

I'm trying to understand what the goal is, if it's fixing / finishing the current game then it would not make sense.

If Gen 8 is added, I hope the new mons are worth the wait because, lets be honest, there are already enough mons and encounters start repeating a lot.

"Reworking old content" Why? Just finish the game and then do a bigger update fixing major problems.

Sorry for being straight to the point.

    1) Because... we want to? Gen 8 adds a lot of new mons that ppl from the dev team like a lot, so it's not like we're doing it because we have to. We want Gen 8 to be in, so we're adding in Gen 8. There doesn't need a better reason than that.

    2) Older content gets reworked and other QoL updates to keep the quality of the game consistent across the board, and not just have the quality get better further into the game. We still get a lot of new players even now, meaning that these players also have to go through the older content, and since we want the game to be as enjoyable as possible for any and all players, we want to make sure that new players don't have to worry about early game being a slog.

This really kind of sounds like you're being impatient in regards to the new version, but we're really just trying to make the game as enjoyable of an experience as possible. If we know something could use some work and there's time to fix it, then there's really no reason not to. We have no set deadlines for ourselves and we're not going to rush things in order to get the version pushed out sooner.

I just have one teensy tiny little question.

With gen 8's roster coming up, plus that wild area route plan you've got going on, are the early-to-mid game pokemon encounters gonna be changed/expanded significantly?

Thing is, a few of my favourite mons (and I'm a person who absolutely loves using their favourites) are locked until rather late in the game (Lapras, Aggron and Gardevoir are the three big ones), and given that I've already played V12 long and hard, I was thinking of hacking in my team of favourites for a challenge run (intense diff, set mode itemless), and 100% completion when V13 came out.

But seeing these news I'm having second thoughts; perhaps I should do it now in V12 and play V13 normally, or just forfeit it altogether? If I'll get a better available roster the choice will be easier.

There are quite a good couple of changes throughout the whole game in terms of encounters and event pokemon, though it's mostly additions of Gen 8 in various places. However, as far as I'm aware, Lapras/Aggron/Gardevoir have not changed obtaining methods, and will remain in the same place as they've been obtainable before.

The only pokemon that currently are publicly known to be moved are Rockruff, A-Grimer and Eevee, which will no longer be the reward for the Sheridan help center quest. I don't think I can disclose any further information though, but I wouldn't worry *too* much about drastic changes to encounters!

Given that it's a direct continuation of the previous Version's story, and past Versions did little to recap what came before on release, probably not. The Devs have highly recommended replaying the game to see all of what's been changed earlier on in previous updates though, so that's probably our best bet for getting back in the groove.

We do recommend starting a new file, but when V13 is out we plan to host a public project to get the Rejuv wiki fully up to date, including adding a story summary. The reason we are waiting for this is due to a lot of QoL changes in older content, which makes it so that writing a summary now would be wasted effort.

    i have a question tho

I was thinking about starting over to keep me occupied

Are there any changes made to old routes and Pokémon encounters

I just wanna know if it would be worth it to start over or nothing much has changed and you guys are solely focusing on going forward with the game and not making any changes

A good amount of routes and locations have received overhauls either graphically, storywise or both -- particularly the ones earlier on in the game (but there's some newer content that got revisions as well). With the addition of Gen 8 mons becoming obtainable (through encounters or sidequests), the map updates and some ~*~*Other Neat Stuff That Is Still A Surprise(TM)*~*~ I would personally suggest starting a new file once V13 is out so you get the full experience!

so what's the difference between the current build and the mk build?

Much better performance on newer pcs for the most part as it's a far more modern engine! The game will run far faster and smoother, and there's barely any lag. It'll be slower on older pcs unfort, but we've been able to optimize the RMXP port (aka the current engine) game for a good chunk thanks to the help of Cass that we've been getting, so there should still be a noticeable difference between V12 and V13 for those who are using the RMXP version of the game -- especially during battles, where the brief lag before move animations playing is no longer an issue.

question when it comes to production of sprites? do you mostley draw the artwork after the sprites, if so has there been times where you have made artwork that then is turned into a sprite?

The artwork is usually done afterwards, but there's a couple of cases where the art is done prior to the sprites, or is elaborated on prior to the characters having an actual battle sprite or VS portrait.

Case 1: A character needs a redesign and doesn't have accurate sprites. The result is that the sprite is based on the art.

This was the case for Rorim B, Rift Chandelure, and Volta for example, who needed redesigns and had their art done up front in that case so entirely new sprites can be made for them.

Case 2: A character has an overworld sprite, but no battle or VS sprite yet. The result is that some creative liberties are taken with the design when drawing on a larger scale.

Most designs are done while working closely with Jan, but there's a couple of cases where I get to let my own creativity have the free run. This was the case for i.e. Indriad, Mosely, Jolene and Nastasia. Designs like this usually had overworld sprites that were a bit ambiguous, so it gives a more clear idea as of what the character is wearing without making any super drastic changes. Another older example of this is Flora in her Bladestar outfit, which had (iirc) an overworld sprite already at the time, but for the cover art of V8 I got to do my own take on her outfit, which is a l m o s t the same as the current one she's wearing.

Sometimes the art is used as reference to update some existing overworld sprites, for i.e. hairstyle, color usage and overall detailing of the sprites, which you'll actually be seeing the result of in V13 for a handful of characters. It's a bit of a back and forth process in that sense, and it's not really fully set in stone what's done first. Most of the currently existing designs were decided almost entirely by Jan (with a bit of my own additions here and there), but there's gonna be some more designs in the future which I've had more of a hand in (still while working together with Jan ofc), so I'm very excited for ppl to see those! 👀

Quick question, will we be seeing these artworks in game? (My apologies if this has already been asked before >.<)

Yes! In one of Jan's previous posts you can actually see one of the artworks being used -- others will also be used in similar fashion, either pre battle or as an introduction to the character if you don't battle them.

Since Rejuventaion is going to implement gen 8 is it also going to implement gen 8's mid turn speed calculation?

Nope, this was deconfirmed this in the V13 discussion thread a while back.

Petition to make this the official name

Did you change Tesla's hair color? Looked more red last time (or is this a bad future change?)

Bad future change! IIRC these are Amber and Tesla's natural hair colors, they both dye their hair slightly to be more red-red and less orange-red in the main timeline.

Are you guys going to use these shiny sprites or will we be getting new custom ones? Anyways awesome work as always Jan and the squad.

What's the view on DLC and V13/V14 of Rejuv for devs?

We've answered this before, but only base game gen 8 will be in V13. All the DLC stuff is either added in a later patch or V14.

A really really special request for the developers 🙂, could you use this battle theme again on the Soundtrack against the gym leaders?,:

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4KfsGfAoWvU

It is one of the most epic themes that uniquely and excitingly sets the battle for the medal, I really enjoyed it in  previous versions and I hope you take it into account, I would greatly appreciate it 😄

You know you can change the music yourself by replacing the mp3 file for the gym leader fights with that song, right? We're not gonna change it back to this in the public build, unfortunately
