  1. Having to double check every one-line minor npc's gender because of gosh darn grammatical gender ex."Je suis venu"(Speaker is Male) vs. "Je suis venue" (Speaker is Female) for "I came" (Speaker has any gender, mix of genders possible or none at all) is pretty annoying but necessary if i don't want to look like the idiots who translated final fantasy 7 into french (english version is a masterpiece compared to that abomination)

Would that make it tricky to translate some of the Sea Star NPCs' dialogue, since Sea Stars' genders aren't always mentioned?

EDIT: I somehow didn't see this part at first: "(Speaker has any gender, mix of genders possible or none at all)". That probably answers my question.

no, i was joking (comparing french je suis venu/venue with english I came) with that because english doesn't have grammatical gender (a part from pronouns). I was thinking making them having absolutely no concept of grammatical gender when speaking but having a equally overarching ingroup/outgroup distinction (instead of almost every word having gender they have an in/out noun class system) using the neutral and inclusive word forms from http://uniqueensongenre.eklablog.fr/petit-dico-de-francais-neutre-inclusif-a120741542 to make them look more alien.

Oh, okay. I like that idea.
