Ha, and I said it would be less than a month for the next update. I am 100% reliable. Reborn is in good hands with this guy fixing bugs.
Anyway, apologies for the delay. I assure you that I definitely did not forget about this run. Nope. That didn't happen. Nuh-uh. It's been two and a half months I don't even know how to pokemon anymore.
So, next up, we're heading in the general direction of Charlotte. Which means trekking through a mountain. Which means I might finally get a water type! (God, I hope so. I thought Charlotte pre-nerf in my original file and I still have nightmares). I'm gonnan eed something to combat her because, for once, i won't just be able to rely on Peach to kick ass.
I'm getting ahead of myself though, I have to go invade somebody's privacy with disastrous consequences, first.
I hate having to do this, but I can hardly halt the run and just not get surf because of it. I'm never sure whether telling Amaria or not is the best choice, or if it will have any consequences down the line. I didn't tell her, mostly because I think I did in my original playthrough, I've noted this on pevious occasions, but I do like the appearance of the absol.
Oh, and only Lucky #6 can learn Surf, so bye-bye Megahorn. Onwards, to aimlessly wander through a mountain!
Random Sidenote that occured to me while I was surfing: Lumineon is super-forgettable, and I forget it exists a lot. But damn, whenever I remember it DOES exist, it's one of my favourite pokemon. If that makes any sense. I really like it.
Also the player character sprite actually surfs while surfing. That's awesome. I don't think I've noticed that before.
AndI didn't finish the Crustle Puzzle earlier, it seems, so I spent a while messing with that after I'd aimlessly explored a different part of the mountain for a while.
I'm finally in Ametrine mountain proper, so I'd say it's time to realise we can't actually get to Ametrine city because of all that ice, so we need to go beat up defeat Charlotte so we can Dive, instead! So, time to traverse Route 3, which I am more than a little paranoid about. Aya killed a Shiny Druddigon here in my main file. I do NOT want something like that happening again. A Druddigon would be awesoem right about now.
Cain: "I just same my life flashign before my eyes, no big deal."
Aya: "So I'm guessing that was like watching a spli-second porno?"
Cain: "The diaogue was slightly better."
God, I love these two so much.
Hardy: "There's a good way to get beat?"
Cain: "I'll have to show you some time~"
Aya: "No you don't!"
Aya's crush on Hardy is almost as funny as Cain's Cain-ness.
Cain: "And don't worry. I'll be gentle with your boyfriend~"
Aya: "He's NOT my boyfriend!
...Wait, just what are you planning o do to him!?"
Goodness, I feel like this update is gonna be heavy on me quoting Cain & Aya.
Anyway, on the way trekking through caves, some terrorists showed up, as they tend to. They didn't really pose much of a problem, as usual. Well, I mean, apart from the first two which nearly wiped me because they just completely ignored Aya's Dragalge. Meteor got competent when I wasn't looking. Probably what they spent the last two and a half months doing. I still beat them, of course. I had significantly less trouble with the Knight and Dame duo which followed.
Oh boy. We have a Shiny. And it's a pokemon I like, with a shiny sprite I love (Even if I'm less Keen on it's evolutions' shiny sprites.) Please don't kill it Aya. Please please please please...
*sigh* Welp, looks like we won't getting a shiny Rhyhorn to join the team any time soon... ;_; Stupid Aya.
Huh, even here there's Absol? It's the small details like this that I love. Now for the beginnings of the event that Absol foretold:
Team Vs. Aster & Eclipse (4):
Peach Lv. 63
Brainfreeze Lv63
The Godbat Lv62
Airy Lv63
Lucky #6 Lv64
Mozilla Lv65
Machines whir in the background.
Can somebody say underlevelled? Still, I open with my usual Quiver Dancing Peach strategy. Lunatone knew Blizzard so I only got two off before I drained him, because Blizzard is somewhat scary for Peach, even from a Lunatone. Solrock even burnt Peach, but luckily Giga Drain is reliable healing when she's had two Quiver Dances off.Except Solrock got a critical Rock Slide, so Peach onlly managed to take down Solrock. Talk about a waste of time.
#6 comes out next, doing some serious damaging and laying out spikes, although only one layer because of confusion hax.
Thanks to some confusion hax of our own, Brainfreeze dealt with most of Aster's team, although didn't bother even trying to touch the Milotic Eclipse had out.
Unfortunately, Milotic just wouldn't die. And while all Aster had left has the Solrock he switched out at the beginning the crafty duo took out... Every. Single. Member. Of my team. So Aya was left on her own to finish the job. And while she made an admirable attempt, her AI decided to be incredibly bad. That combined with Paralysis hax on her Venasaur stopped her winning. Although she took out Solrock and Eclipse only had 1 or 2 pokemon remaining (I wasn't counting) she eventually fell.
The second attempt went a lot better. Lunatone decided not to use Blizzard, and I targeted Solrock first because it would attack Peach's unboosted defense. Peach took out Rhyperior just as easily, ignoring Lunatone because he's no real threat anymore. Same story for Golurk. And then, Hax. Blizzard barely did damage, but it DID decide to freeze me.Not taking chances, I crammed some Red Hots down Peach's throat, and we were back in action, but she was then taken out by a Fire punch from Electvire. Lucky #6 came in next, doing serious damage to both teams alongside Aya's Nidoqueen. The Godbat and came in and did more damage, being sure to take out that damn Milotic, although not before an annoying Scald burn. Aster was taken down completely by Brainfreeze, and Eclipse was on her way there. Mozilla landed the killing blow on Vileplume, and so I won on my second attempt.
Aster: "Dammit Eclipse, are you even trying!?"
Eclipse: "Not really, no."
Seeing as I'm a big fan of this pair, a pretty big feels-train arrived in the station shortly after this. We hate Sirius now. He even kidnapped Aya after everything with Eclipse ;_;
Route 4 was largely uneventful. Just Mozilla & the gang destroying stuff.
Calcenon is looking awesome, music and design, I really like the place. Also Eclipse's name is Caitlyn. Missed that first time aruond.
Anyway, what we have left now is Charlotte's gym. I don't even slightly expect to beat her with my current team, but I'll give it a try. If I lose, I'll finish this update there, and probably train and shake up my team a bit in the meantime. And probably go searching for a water type in the mountain.
Huh. Ame's 'gym guy' talk for Charlotte has this little snippet:
'If she takes after her mother, that's going to be a lot of Eruption and Heat Wave attacks.'
I was under thei mpression Charlotte/Laura/Saphira's mother was a WATER gym leader, not fire. Couldn't tell you off the top of my head why I think that... But Iswear omebody somewhere said it. I guess not though. Huh. Talk about weird. Must've just made that up >.<
I said I was going to take one try and then stop for training, but I'll take two. Because I have two distinct plans in mind regarding how to tackle this battle.
Alright, here we go with my first attempt, where my plan is basically just Toxic Spikes+Brute Force. Yes, I know it won't work because most of my team has nothing they can do against Charlotte. Still, it'd be wrong to NOT try. I have no idea how hard her nerf was.
Charlotte: '[My mother] was a fire trainer too, you know.'
Thinking about it, I swear THIS was where I got the impression that she was a water trainer, I recall her mentioning it and also mentioning the hasty gym remodeling to fit fire or SOMETHING like that. I'm probably imagining it, or there was a big retcon or something. I dunno, but this line is almost certainly new, with the fire type thing is or not. I doubt I would have thought Mama Belrose was a water type trainer if Charlotte explicitly says she was fire. I was so sure she was water. I even remember laughing at something at the tail end of the E15 content with Team Meteor because of a reference to water gyms and gymleaders and I thought of Mmama Belrose and all. Ah well, I'm rambling at this point, and I have a gym battle to lose!
Team Vs. Charlotte:
Lucky # 6 Lv68
Mozilla Lv67
Peach Lv66
Brainfreeze Lv67
Airy Lv67
The Godbat Lv67
The field is super-heated!
So, they edited the cigarette out of Charlotte's cut in, not sure why, she still spends the whole game talking about smokes. I suppose it's probably a logic thing, maybe it was realised smoking when the field in her gym is the way it is might be a slightly terrible idea. Eh, either way, the battle begins.
So, I leveled a fair bit while I was wanderign through Route 4, because Audinos. Still, Brainfreeze, Peach & Airy are somewhat useless in this fight, so I doubt I will win, even after the training. Anyway, opened by trying and failing to layer spikes because Darmanitan took out #6 in a single hit. The rest of this extremely short battle was 'Darmanitan one shots everything until he kills himself with Recoil, then Typhlosion one shots the rest'
Which leads to plan B, the way I dealt with pre-nerf Charlotte on my original file: Rain Dance.
This was a very different story to open with. #6 opened with Earth Power to take down Darmanitan instead of trying to set up spikes, and it worked well enough thanks to the rain softening the attack enough that it didn't kill #6. It's a shame she doesn't open with Ninetales or the Rain would've gotten rid of her field altogether thanks to the rainbow.
#6 then took out Typhlosion, who took out Godbat previously. Brainfreeze went out as fodder for me to heal #6, which didn't work because Delphox STILL one shotted it. Brainfreeze survived awfully well so he provided Icy Wind support. On a whim, because I had nothing that could really deal with her Delphox, I had Brainfreeze spam Sheer Cold on it till she died.
It,umm... It worked first try. Which is awesome. And convenient because Rotom killed him straight after. This was when the Rain stopped and I had barely any usuable pokemon left. Amusingly, I was the one who ended up Combusting the Field with a Fire Pledge. At this point, I was just praying on Delphox doing the work and having my useless party members just lob Ultra potions.
It was working rather well, Charlotte is down to Rotom & Ninetales, I have Mozilla, Airy & Peach. Except Ninetales just got off a Nasty Plot and it's sunny. So I worked out that Fire Blast would do more damage than Psychic at this point, and just loobed one of those at Ninetales in hopes I'd get lucky.Airy goes down, Mozilla survives with a sliver of health, Ninetales survives with about 40% health. If Peach attracts Ninetales' ire and Mozilla gets of a Fire Blast, I can take down Ninetales and then I should be able to deal with Rotom 1v1.
Ninetales' ai took a turn for the strupid and tried to solar beam me so I came out unscathed and it came out fainted. Meanwhile Rotom has been spamming overheat this whole time so it can't even 1 shot Peach anymore.
What I'm trying to say is, against all odds, on only my second try and with half a team only able to work as heal bots...
Cinder Badge get!
This is great, and it puts a smile on my face that I spent most of the battle fighting fire with fire.
Time to find a TV and then wrap up the update!
So, the profile is not only Terra, but Ciel too! And the Ciel profile is kind enough to warn us about the Mega Altaria. Wish I had watched that on my first playthrough instead of being totally blindsided by it...
The interview is with Florinia. She put her emotions on hold because emotions caused serious problems in her past, which we more or less already knew, but Gardevoir couldn't get her to elaborate.
Anyway, that's it for this eventful update! Given how well the gym battle went, I'd say this was a pretty positive segment, apart from, y'know, Aya getting kidnapped, Eclipse getting worse than killed, and worst of all, Aya killing a potential team member. Still, hopefully next time will take less than 2 and a half months. For real this time!
