  1. They're trying to duplicate X and Y's customizability. It may not be a new concept but it's one of the cool features they're putting in and that level of customization is new to that series. It's only natural they'd take some inspiration and really cool features from the main series games and other successful fangames like Reborn. Insurgence looks like it could be pretty fun.
  2. I noticed no one reported this but I caught a lvl. 35 skrelp while fishing off the coral ward docks with the Good Rod. Not sure how rare they are, if they can be caught with the old rod, or how early you can get it but they're there.
  3. Aren't you able to get a Numel before the electric gym outside the train station when it is raining? Or do you get it after?
  4. Favorite mon... this is a toughie so I'll do my top 5. Gothitelle and Lilligant are tied for first place. I love lilligant because she's adorable and can be a beast at times, also she was one of my first mon. I love Gothitelle's design, she's gorgeous and she's got a great moveset/ability combo that makes her a great thief. Mawile is Fantastic, they have great movesets/resistances and they have cool mix of cute and menacing. My two others are Magmortar, since he was my very first starter, and Sceptile. Both are absolute badasses and just look awesome. Though Infernape, Camerupt, and Ludicolo have been growing on me a lot.
  5. We can get aerodactyl? Yay, I can finally complete my pantheon of fossils.
  6. Hey, I was looking through this topic and saw that no one had tried giving the Gothitelle line a better set of shinies so I thought I'd try my hand at it. This is my first time ever trying anything like sprite art/recoloring so I'm assuming it'll make a few eyes hurt. I had originally wanted to make them bright and cheery like yellow and sky blue but I figured i should start with something simpler and just switch the colors of their bows and outfit. I made these on a white background so some lining and details might be obscured a bit. Gothitelle: Didn't have too many problems with Gothitelle but the eyes were a bit tricky. Not completely confident in her head bows though. Gothorita: The biggest issue was making sure the eyes and the rest of her head didn't bleed together. Also the white going around her cheek looked off so i expanded the purple and her lips a little. Also no matter what i tried the bottom of her right eye looked a little off. I'm worried that it looks like she has a black eye. I'm not absolutely sure how well I did with her bows, especially the one on her back, looks a bit pointier than the original. Gothita: This is the one I'm least confident in. It's mainly the lower body, especially the belt or whatever that is. I had the lighter shadows at RGB 180,180,180 originally but they looked too dark so I bumped them to 200. As for the belt I'm not sure how to improve them. Hopefully these aren't too ugly. Even if these aren't good enough for Reborn I'm still proud of these and I had a lot of fun making them. I hope I'm not necroposting here.
  7. I heard that couldn't get gothita until after Corey but I could be wrong. I also suggest getting a fast thunder type like pachirisu, emolga, or manectrik since Corey's skrelp and Crobat are weak to thunder.
  8. That Underwater field... and I thought the ice field and fire gym's field were brutal. Good thing I raised half an army of pokemon in the intermission times. My octillary, ludicolo, lilligant, and eelectric will be especially useful in these. Maybe even my veteran pachirisu and beautifly too. Still, if these are the normal water fields I shudder to think what the one for the water gym is like.
  9. The easiest for me were the fire gym, Aya (ep 12), and Flobot Fire Gym: My semi-ev trained Camerupt (with focus band), swept her entire team. I was stunned at how quickly it went. Aya: I got my sandslash and camerupt earthquake and they just steamrolled almost her entire team, though they kept KOing my other mon so that it looked like the two of them were the three stooges. Flobot: It wasn't too hard thanks to my infernape and beautifly. Hardest one for me were Radomus, Julia, and maybe Corey and Shade. Julia: None of my mon had ground attacks and the ones I had been levelling up were weak to electricity. My pachirisu was a boss though, she used bide and endured both voltorbs exploding and just rammed it up emolga's butt. The rest was trying to keep my monferno alive by using my other mon as shields. Corey: like Julia I didn't have any psychic mon/attacks and my only ground one was my Arbok's mudshot. It was the poison spikes that were a pain in the butt. Shade: Despite levelling up my best mon to nearly the level cap I couldn't beat him so I had to train up a Raticate ghostbuster specifically for that fight, she took out over half shade's team. Radomus: If it wasn't Gardevoir it was slowking or Metagross killing my Mawile and other key mon. I had to train up a boufalant since it knew Megahorn and could tank their shots. The key moment was when my Mawile and Boufalant had their big attacks aimed at slowking, by either the RNG gods smiling on me or Radomus' error, he sent out Gardevoir. Both shots took her to under half health and I just thwomped her before she could get a calm mind or moonblast off. I should not have won that one. I've been training up mon for future gym fights but even with them EV trained half of them will probably prove useless knowing Ame and reborn. The fights have been hard but they've almost always been memorable and provide plenty of moments of awesome for my mon.
  10. I have a mawile and it acts as a good hard hitter and a moderate wall. It may not have the best stats but it has a lot of type defenses and a decently wide moveset. Mine has Play Rough, Crunch, and Iron Head, all solid 80-90s, and False swipe for pokemon catching. I can also learn Iron Defense, stockpile, and baton pass for the defensive/strategic moves. Get it trained and it could be really good for later gyms, he was really good in the Psychic, dark gyms. As for Aggron and Steelix. Aggron has better attack and you don't need to worry about fire types like you do with steelix. However it does have those 4x ground and fighting and it's moveset is pretty shallow in Reborn, unless you want to go back to episode 12 and breed it. Steelix has a lot of type resistance, akin to Mawile's and it has a good broad moveset type-wise. It's attack isn't as good as aggron's and it has four types to worry about but with sturdy I'd say Steelix is the better bet.
  11. With these field effects it's getting almost to the point with gym battles that you have to target the secondary type and avoid the traditionally super effective mon like the plague. Fortunately I've been training a few off-type mon in the between times to take care of some of the future gyms. Still, Aya will be annoying when I eventually replay this. Though I'm going to hold off on replaying until it is complete.
  12. You can get a numel really early if it's raining, before the first gym too I think. It's a pretty useful mon with good ground, fire, rock type moves, which will be insanely useful for the first several gyms. It's good late game too, I was able to essentially sweep the fire gym with a Camerupt wearing a focus band. Also, if you want to go through the trouble of getting a bidoof with headbutt you can get a female combee in the tree in opal ward. Vespiquen has great defense, her three order moves are really good and she can learn a few good flying moves. Beautiflies raised from wurmples can be good early game since they can have gust, bug bite, and mega drain by lvl 24. They aren't as useful later game but early game mine was a beast.
  13. I played Crash Bandicoot a ton as well as some Jax and Daxter, though I got lost and stuck on #2. I didn't want the list to go on too long. It would be a mile long if I listed all the games I loved. I have a massive backlog of console games, probably because of the 200 hours I logged in Zeta and the almost 240+ in Reborn. Team wise I think I'm pretty good. Got about 13 main guys/veterans with just as many I'm training up in preparation for future gyms. I seem to be a really fast learner when it comes to pokemon training/strategizing.
  14. I've been posting here for a little while and I figured it was about time to do a proper introduction and tell how I found this place and got into pokemon. To tell the truth prior to about 7-8 months ago I didn't really give a crap about Pokemon. I've never had any of the Nintendo handheld systems since my brothers and I were always more interested in the console systems; mainly the Sega and Playstation ones thanks to my uncle who had introduced us to video games in the first place. When pokemon came out it just didn't seem interesting to us at all. We were interested in games where you saved the world, made friends, and did important stuff. Being the very best and catching them all just seemed boring, trivial, and uninteresting. I mean the original tv ad for the pokemon games was an animated vacuum cleaner sucking up the original 151, which just left us thinking ‘what’s the point?’. So naturally when the Pokemon vs Digimon rivalry started up we were hard core Digimon fans all the way. So to me Pokemon had always been ‘the other guys’. To us Pikachu was always that annoying overrated yellow rat who couldn't hold a candle to Patamon and Calumon’s cuteness. It went on like that for a while, vaguely aware of what happened in the Pokemon world but generally ignoring it and wishing they’d come out with good Digimon games and more seasons. Then things changed when I heard a guy on twitch had set up a game of Pokemon Red where the movements and actions were completely controlled by the chat. Twitch Plays Pokemon just sucked me right in. It was hilarious, mind boggling, and yet very frustrating to watch at times. I fell in love with the lore and characters the fans created. I followed it almost religiously, maybe literally considering how many times we shouted CONSULT THE HELIX FOSSIL, PRAISE BIRD JESUS/THE HELIX FOSSIL! I got invested in the mon and their personalities; sharing in each of their triumphs and tragedies. About halfway through their run through Pokemon Emerald I got that itch, the itch to play one myself, the itch to have my own mon with their own personalities and quirks. After some searching I found Pokemon Zeta/Omicron. It looked good and the itch needed to be scratched. I fell in love with it. It started right off with you fleeing your hometown from the advancing forces of Team Asgard so it grabbed me and felt as if this wasn't about being the best or catching them all, it was about defeating the menace that was Team Asgard and saving the region from their evil plans. I chose Magby as my starter and the first pokemon I caught was a Petilil, which explains why their fully evolved forms are two of my most favorite mon. I had my own team of heroes and fun characters ready to save the world, no matter how cheap or noobish the strategy used to do it was. The game taught me the ins and outs of the pokemon business. I would never have had made it if it weren’t for pokemondb.net. I finished it about mid-late May. So with my first pokemon game under my belt, and figures of some of my favorite mon on my shelf, I went back to about normal though with a new realization that even though the Digimon tv show may be better, the Pokemon games are much better than the Digimon ones (especially Digimon World 1 on the PS1, that game got so freakin’ annoying at times with it’s stupid training and digivolution systems, only PS1 game I regularly used gameshark for) (also TOMY still needs to make freakin’ Lilligant figure already). However about mid July the itch returned. I didn't really want to do Pokemon Zeta/Omicron again so soon after the first play through so I searched around online for another Pokemon fan game/hack of Zeta/Omicron caliber. I found some okay ones but nothing that seemed interesting or complete enough for my tastes. That’s when I happened to hear about Pokemon Reborn. I read about how difficult and unforgiving it was but it looked really good and the itch was pretty bad. Besides I’d taken everything Zeta/Omicron had thrown at me and won, albeit with a bajillion revives, max revives, and hyper potions (as well as a few rocky helmets and leech seeds), how hard could it be? Pokemon Reborn has kicked my butt and forced me to fight smarter with pokemon I might not have used otherwise and even got me to actually take IVs and EVs seriously, something I had scoffed at while playing Zeta. But it has been a blast with every crazy character, mind blowing twist, and how dark it could get and every WTF moment. The mon I've raised here have 10x the backstory, personality, and depth than my Zeta ones ever had. Though it helps that I've been documenting everything that has happened and what my mon have done. The gym battles are balls to the chainsaw hard and frustrating but each of them, and the big team Meteor fights, have been very rewarding, satisfying, and awesome. I've had so many moments of awesome and times where my mon have clutched victory from the jaws of defeat. It has been an amazing ride with this game and I’m excited to see where the heck it goes. That about catches you up to present day on my Pokemon Testimonial. Below I’m going to list some other facts about me that help you get to know me. Hopefully I didn't bore you with this wall of text. 15. As of ep. 12 all of Umbreon's attacks were special attacks so i was able to have my infernape 'Vegeta' outlast him by using calm mind when he wasn't asleep and moomoo milk, 100hp for only $200. It was a last ditch panic strategy since I ran out of fighting moves and ethers didn't work at the time. I'm not sure if it helped that Umbreon was the last of Luna's mon left since my Mawile and Camerupt mowed through the others.
  16. One way to keep file sizes down could be to do what Suze did for Zeta/Omicron and have a full download for those starting and a patch/update set for those who already downloaded the game. It would come with instructions on which files/folders to copy in and which ones to delete. But Z/O's mechanics might have been simpler so it's probably not feasible for Reborn.
  17. Why can't TMs be bred anymore? Is it just Ame making it harder for us/being sadistic? Or is there a specific reason?
  18. If you have a problem with the default sprites they have various sprite overhaul/GUI packs you can download in the main download page at its subreddit and replace the default ones with. As for typos and bugs you can always point them out on the subreddit so they can fix it in the next patch, if you want to put in that much effort. They recently released version/patch 1.4.10.
  19. Pokemon Zeta/Omicron was pretty good. True the story may not be as in depth or hardcore as Reborn but it was a really fun game. True it was my very first pokemon game so I may be a bit biased. It isn't put your balls through a meat grinder hard like Reborn is but it is a good deal harder than the main lines. They have HM items to replace cut/strength/etc so no need for wasted party slots. They have some pretty good bonuses. It has a few battles that are Reborn level difficulty but generally as long as you mind your types and have a balanced team you're good. One neat thing is that they have various challenge modes like randomized, nuzlocke, solo run, trainers don't give money, pokecenters don't restore PP, all pokemon you haven't caught have their stats/sprites hidden, can't use TMs, and can't flee from battles. I did hear the guy who made it is thinking of making a sequel to it that has Reborn level difficulty, edginess, and story.
  20. I'm slightly confused about how you can get Magby and elekid but not their fully evolved forms. Shouldn't you just be able to use Link Stones to make them evolve or do you need a special item as well? It worked fine with my Karrablast. Either way I'm glad Magby is in it now. He was my starter for Pokemon Zeta, the very first pokemon game I played, and one of my favorite mons.
  21. This seems like the kind of thing that could be very useful late game for uber strong event pokemon or legendaries.
