    So through the Pokedex in sun and moon, gamefreak retconned mega evolution into being basically psychological and/or physical torture for many Pokemon. Why though?

      Personally I like this aspect and if the anime wasn't designed to be for kids, I feel like it could give some emotional weight to things. I think it just seems questionable because it's set in something designed for a younger audience. Pulse is similar in reborn and brings something to the story along with it. It's too bad they've never taken a shot at a more mature version of the official games/series.
