  1. I've always thought that Ghosts, as Typh said, should be immune to most physical attacks as they were in Gen. 1 and could be effected by any 'special' attacks. The rare exception to physical attacks landing could be sneak attacks. These could be planned by the trainer, such as using tackle when it's not looking/your pokemon is hiding or by being sneaky in nature like most dark attacks are. So essentially all types would be able to hit them in some way or another. Normal types can use their sound attacks or hyper beam (seriously why wouldn't a god damn hyper beam hit a Gengar but a flamethrower would?) and fighting types such as Lucario can just launch aura sphere's at them. However Ghosts would get the ability to avoid any physical attack that they see coming. I don't know I think that's a fair trade off. It makes ghosts fill a certain niche. They become much stronger in one on one battles where it'd be more difficult to fool them (though they wouldn't be any stronger against special based attackers) but they would be a good bit weaker in the chaotic messes our group will surely be in.
  2. Clint couldn't hold back a smirk. "All right Pimparella you heard the boss man, distract them. Dig up whatever you want, just don't kill them, I don't feel like getting chewed out again." Clint smiled and quickly grabbed his crutches in order to make way for some different cover. "I suggest you move, sir." He said to the Lieutenant his smile plain as day. The Onix, likewise was smiling, knowing full well what her master wanted her to do. She gave Clint and whoever else was hiding behind her a moment to move then decided to make her move. She quickly changed positions, digging her tail deep into the Earth and aiming it at her enemies. Then she swung, carrying with her any loose dirt. She flung the dirt as hard as she could making sure that the position wherever the silly men with weak guns were would be covered in dirt. She continued to swing back and forth each time digging deeper and throwing more sand and dirt at the enemies. Where they stood now it almost looked as though it was raining sand.
  3. I'm all for this, if we can meet a few conditions. 1. More Communication: We'll need to be open to discussing a large amount of moves and match ups until we can come to a consensus about things. I.e. say Nathan and Lars are battling and Lars' Ghastly uses something like Night Shade on Nathan's Bagon. Murdoc may argue that the attack wouldn't have a large effect on his Bagon due to the stoic and headstrong nature of his GAO, while Flux may argue that the attack wouldn't depend on the nature of the pokemon at all, that the night shade would find SOMETHING that Bagon was afraid of and exploit it. In this instance or one of the many that I can imagine being similar to it, we'd have to all come together and make a decision about how it would play out. I'd imagine we as a group would be capable of having nice conversations about how we imagine the nature of battling, but we'd have to be diligent about being vocal. As soon as your not entirely sure of how an interaction may work, you'd have to express that here and everyone else would have to put their input in as well. This will likely increase the length of all fight scenes, particularly at the beginning, but I think it would be worth it. 2. Everyone has to be in on it: This would change the rigid structure of pokemon battling into a very abstract experience and I completely understand why some people wouldn't enjoy that. By using more real life rules we'll completely remove a lot of the real life balance that is built into the pokemon games. Most types that are currently seen as OP would only get more powerful and most of the weaker types would only suffer. Take for example the steel type, who could realistically lose both its fighting weakness and ground weakness. However, this is only during immediate battles if we work together we could provide tangible weaknesses and strengths to each type that could exist outside of battle. Grass types could become even more potent in their healing abilities and could be given absurd amounts of durability due to their ability to regrow themselves, whereas steel types could be very high maintenance. However, this requires cooperation and work and while I think everyone here is capable of this type of thing I do understand if someone isn't interested in removing themselves from the nice world of pokemon that has already been established. If just one person isn't interested then the idea won't work and that's why it's important that we're all on board before we start doing it.
  4. Clint kept himself hidden behind his GAO only popping up periodically to fire a shot or two in the enemies' direction. "Lieutenant," he said turning to Surge, "Give me permission to give them a distraction they won't soon forget."
  5. I'm all for that. We would definitely need to re-think how sound based attacks work as well because those being included in the same category as 'tackle' really makes no sense.
  6. Well, I said immune was a better option than super-effective, but I really think not very effective is the best option. That was a controlled experiment to show off the idea of a Faraday cage. If you notice the voltage wasn't insanely high and the car wasn't on. That's because while the charge inside the conductor doesn't change their are other problems that electricity can cause to metal objects. The main problem though is heating, if someone were to apply electricity to a conductor (or any object really) for a long period of time the object will heat up. Electricity (especially something like a lightning bolt) holds a large amount of kinetic energy and when that energy hits our metal conductor you better believe that energy is going to do something and that something generally involves heating up that metal. But, again we use conductors as wires for a reason, the electricity won't be in their all that long, so unless you have your pokemon holding its electric attack on the steel type for a long period of time or you can jack your electric bolts up to insane voltages (like if you were a Zapdos) then your electric attacks won't do anything. So if I had to use my judgement RPing I'd go by these rules to keep it fair and interesting. 1. Weaker electric type pokemon can't cause any real damage to steel types, however they can cause temporary or permanent functionality issues, depending on the discrepancy of both level and power. 2. While being attacked by an electric type a steel type would be paralyzed and unable to move. 3. If a moderately powerful electric type is allowed to keep its attack on a steel type for a large period of time the steel type can experience melting issues. 4. If an incredibly powerful electric type/legendary electric type uses an attack on a steel type it'll demolish them. Sorry if that was a bit long winded. You don't have to use these rules that's just what makes the most sense to me personally. Also, if you guys need any physics advice I'd be glad to see what I can do.
  7. Honestly as a physics major I'd say that steel would be better off being immune to electric attacks, rather than being effected super effectively. Basically all a conductor does is move the electrons around on the surface to compensate for any electric field, allowing for it to keep its charge on the inside. This unique effect of perfect conductors allows whatever is inside the conductor to be completely unaffected by any outside electric field. In layman's terms a conductor blocks any electricity from entering inside of it. So if you were to say, sit inside of your car while it was struck by lightning you would be perfectly fine. Or if your heart was in the middle of a perfect conductor that was struck by lightning, your heart would likewise be perfectly okay. Proof:
  8. Clint quickly grabbed the capsule for Pimparella and tossed it on the ground. Without a moment's hesitation the monstrous Onix quickly placed its body between the oncoming group and Clint's group, giving Surge, Clint, Logan and anyone else standing nearby cover.
  9. Oarloff took a deep breath. He was still breathing incredibly heavy, not due to exhaustion but due to how close he had come to being in a fight. The poor Ogre had never been in a fight and did not even have a weapon to his name yet, not unless one were to count his harp. Still, despite the Ogre's foolish nature he knew that he would have to fight sometime soon. He was an adventurer now and that's what adventurers did. Well at least that's what the men in the pub would say adventurers did. The ogre had decided to ask one of the other adventurers to teach him how to fight, but wasn't quite sure of who to ask. Mister Akuma seemed strong, but he didn't seem to like him. Mister Nero wasn't really a fighter, Miss Helzebeth and Mister Dru were too busy leading the group to teach him, the elderly gentlemen, were well elderly and Miss Jupiter was more of an archer, something Oarloff didn't think he could really learn. Mister Sigurd would have likely been Oarloff's choice, however the creepy skeleton was still near him so Oarloff decided to avoid him for the time being. That left Mister Xavier and Mister Marcus. The choice between those two was really irrelevant to Oarloff, they both seemed to be nice and strong, however Marcus was standing nearer to Oarloff at the time and so Oarloff decided to ask him. "Umm, Misturr Marcus?" the ogre said while walking over to the fire templar, "Does ... does you think you could teach me how to fight? Me doesn't really know how to."
  10. Jude quickly picked himself back up and stared back at his opponent. "I fear you're another lost soul who does not know of my work. Surrender now and help me locate the girl and I'll allow you to live. I have no desire to spill sacred blood. But, remember this will be you're last warning. They call me God's right hand for a reason, a reason I fear you would not enjoy learning about." Jude lowered himself into a defensive position, getting ready to phase through any attack the mountainous man may unleash.
  11. Clint looked over at his commander in confusion, "Hold up Lieutenant, you want to set up base under ground in the sewers? Won't that leave us sitting ducks for grenades and any falling rubble due to what the GAO can do to the streets?"
  12. Seems a bit out of character for Logan to steal a pokemon from another trainer, specifically someone in his own army. I'd expect Sid to do it, hell Nathan, Clint, and Erick may do it given the proper reasons, but Logan is one of the good guys. I'll trust that you guys give it good enough reasoning though.
  13. Oarloff kept stumbling behind the group, too occupied with the beauty of the area to really take note of anything going on. He had even done his best to ignore the creepy boney guy, despite the inert feeling of dread the skeleton had given him, Oarloff thought that he still may be a good guy. But, now their was a fight up ahead, something that had always made the Ogre uncomfortable. Some of his companions started charging ahead and despite his fear he knew he had to help them. "Me is coming!" he called ahead with a crackled voice, laden with fear. The ogre then charged ahead trying his best to catch up to Marcus.
  14. Maximus was baffled by the sight of it all. A fortress fully guarded by unarmed men. The bane of all existence welcoming his greatest enemies in with open arms. It wouldn't take a smart man to see that this is a trap. But, Maximus had long believed that his life was forfeit. If he could save just one man, take down one monster, then it was all worth it. He wasn't a coward and he would show that now. The Ekarder didn't wait for his compatriots to act. He didn't discuss anything with the rest of the group. He placed a hand on his lance, the Steele Splinter, ready to draw it at any sign of trouble, and charged inside.
  15. Wrong topic Eagleby, . But, his hair would likely be a dark brown/black color. He'll also look like a military man now, for reasons that I'm not quite ready to discuss.
  16. Clint did his best to keep up with the rest of the group, though he wouldn't really call what he was doing, 'marching.' No, it was more like stumbling about only really being carried by the crutches under his arms. He knew he should be thankful that he could even get around, but all he felt was bitter about the whole situation. When everything had gone to hell on the battlefield, it was Rocky that had to carry him out. Hell it had seemed at the time that his fellow soldiers had forgotten about him. Something Clint couldn't really forget. He knew he should be excited for the war game, but over the passing months he couldn't really focus on anything other than the loss in faith in his own fellow soldiers. He knew he'd have to keep up appearances of trust, but deep down the only person he knew he could trust was himself and his own partners.
  17. The ogre sheepishly stepped forward to give his thoughts, "Ummm, me doesn't really like biggwats, so me thinks we should stay away from the town of mean people."
  18. Mr. Taylor Status: Not old anymore and not alive anymore. Traveling on: Marcus's Back. Inventory: Whip he made in the second circle, a few pistols he jacked off of Quincy, and that is it since he lost his hat and bag in the second level.
  19. Well I'd be lying if I said that I haven't been enjoying these reactions, . it's always nice to see your twist turn out well, even though Eagleby saw it coming. However, you guys do have to remember who Mr. Taylor is. I gave you guys a glimpse into his past last chapter with Michael and it's very likely that you'll see more glimpses into his past in the oncoming chapters. You're all definitely right in saying he's a liar, but who exactly is he lying too? Well, that has yet to be seen. And yes Rose, Mr. Taylor's 'history' with Rose will become clear in this oncoming chapter, given the chance. With that all being said, I'm certainly looking forward to the next chapter.
  20. Mr. Taylor didn't scream as the knife penetrated him, hell he didn't even react. His young body simply staggered back and collapsed to the ground. The greenish glow dissipated as did any sign of life in his eyes.
  21. Mr. Taylor smiled broadly, finally after all this time, he could be young again. The old man's hands turned green as he looked the killer in the eye. "All right boy, get ready. I'm not quite sure how long it will take, so just wait until I look like a younger man, perhaps in my twenties, then finish me I suppose I'll have to leave it to your own judgement." With that the old man fully engulfed himself in the green light.
  22. Mr. Taylor smirked, it was good to see that even the most ruthless killer in Hell feared him. "Fine. I'm not quite sure if you remember what my power is, but it's quite powerful in the right instances especially for a man in my predicament. You see I have the ability to change things back into the way they were, which for me is quite useful, because if you couldn't tell already my body could really use a slight change. However I've been hesitant to make this move. As you may also remember my ability comes at a stark price, the loss of memory. I've had a lot of time to think since I've been down here and I've been playing with how making myself younger effects my memory and I'm not all too happy with the results. From what I could determine, taking away just a few moments on my body will take away days, possibly even months of my mind. In order to drop my body back just a few years Marcus, would cause my mind to become that of an infant. That is unless, I die." Mr. Taylor paused her and sighed. "You see Marcus I'm going to take about 50 years off of my body, or at least that's how much I'd like. After this is done, I'll forget everything. My entire life, gone in an instant. That is when you'll kill me and drag my body to the next level. You can leave me to die or you can wait until I awaken. Once I awaken from my nap if you wish I can set out a trap for you. I'll lead the entire group to you and then well... the rest is up to you I suppose." Mr. Taylor decided to step forward, hoping the killer would be too interested to drop him at this point. "So what do you say? Shall we begin?"
