  1. Vero's alternative outfit is coming along. Hopefully I'll have it up soon.

  2. Edit: I was going to answer you but you figured it out and I can't delete this. I like it a lot it sounds interesting and it would be nice for players who like to tell their own stories after playing the game. It sounds so dark though to faint almost you're whole team for one pokemon but it makes a lot of sense. I don't see anything wrong with an item that makes it easier to catch pokemon. It can't make the game too easy because catching pokemon isn't really where we're being tested anyways. I think it would be interesting if you were required to have 5 pokemon in your party for it to work. Its the "Reborn" ball so I'd assume that pokemon you caught could also be restored to full health or be given some added benefit. Your team faints and a new pokemon joins you sounds like a good concept however I assume that there wouldn't be but so few Reborn balls anyways hence the suggested benefit. Going by your concept I'd have to try it at least once. Edit: I just noticed this is in the wrong section for sure. It would be better if it were under the Reborn topic.
  3. I'm lost. I need hot weather outfits for giving Vero and Kuro. No clue yet.

Its ok. Thanks for trying anywsys.

  4. Yeah they started to bag quite a lot afterwards but now... Those pants have been toned down a bit. I guess I'll take a break from working on Lucia with this considered semi done. I gave the wrinkles a shot after looking at a few references. I'm not too confident about my skill on making wrinkles but I like the way they came out compared to when I started. Let me know if you like it. On-wards to Alice! Well I was actually planning on changing all the sprites that were associated with the characters like the overworld sprites. Although I guess the pants wouldn't make much of a difference in this case. Could you be more specific on what kind of short pants or do you mean just shorts instead? Edit: Alice is up and boy do I like how she turned out. Overall I'm glad I made most of these changes. However, because I drew her whole right arm I'm not quite satisfied with how it looks but as of now I'm not sure where to start on fixing it. Well I brought back her original legs and shoes and recolored them. Her ponytail is a little shorter this time around. I'm thinking about editing the ponytail more but I like this subtle difference from Julia's as is for now. Her collar bone is barely there but I fit it in somehow. The jacket seems a bit bigger but I'm ok with that and her bra is a little more sporty just as I hoped. I'm going to edit my original post so everyone can see the current versions of them right away instead of having to scroll down through all the posts. Let me know what you all think about her and Lucia. Now I need to get a concept for Vero and Kuro. All I know is that its for a really hot weather so I'll need something appropriate for them.
  5. Sorry I've only got Lucia today. I spent quite a lot of time learning graphics gale however I was frustrated with the fact that I couldn't use the magic wand to select and draw over colors the way I do in paint.net. It was worth learning because that custom grid saved me so much time. This is how far I got with getting Lucia to two times the resolution. There was a lot of clean up work here to get her to twice the resolution. After checking the original sprite I noticed for every pixel I drew on her pants 4 of them were used as a whole pixel. She looks a bit clearer now that I've almost fully sorted it out.(still have to check some shaded areas) I got rid of the wrinkles for now since those details can wait until I have a clear picture of the directions they should follow. Thanks for the advice Ame. You're talking about Kuro. I haven't finalized a concept yet but he and Vero are somewhat finished as far as what I think I should do about there outfits. Thanks by the way. Thanks I hope to continue strong. Maybe I should title it sprite fan art if it isn't too late. I want to finish Lucia and Alice first and then get to the guys. Although I don't no how long it'll take, I'll see how everything goes from here. Edit: Oh my goodness I must have dozed after noticing those white outlines above. This version has been edited a bit at twice the resolution. I decided to use highlights to give her a more visible collar bone. The outline is a little bit smoother. That just leaves the shading for the pants and adding wrinkles.
  6. Sporty Sun outfits are Complete as of episode 13 Edit: Winter outfits are now COMPLETE AS OF EPISODE 13. Not including surf sprites. Directions 1. Save the images here someplace easy to remember. 2. Rename them to the same names as the current sprites of your character but name the original sprites something else.(Graphics/ Characters AND Graphics/Transitions) 3. That's it. Enjoy! Guess who's the troublemaker. Edit: I'm using Spoilers to help organize this a little better. Currently Testing Expressions Lucia Expressions Kuro Expressions Vero Expressions Alice Expressions Its getting big I might need to make a separate thread or learn how to make spoilers for the winter sprites. Overworld Alice Overworld Vero Overworld Kuro Overworld Lucia Edit: Current Versions of the sports geared characters are right below this Edit. That also means you can use these in game if you want. Overworld sprites Edit :Alice is complete but will have a final adjustment later. Overworld sprites Edit :Lucia is complete but will have a final adjustment later. Overworld Sprites Edit: Help me decide which is better: Gloves or Wristbands? Edit :Vero is complete but will have a final adjustment later. Overworld Sprites Edit :Kuro is complete but will have a final adjustment later. Edit: Below here is where I first started spriting so they're not at the best quality. I didn't know where to put this so please let me know if I'm posting in the wrong place. Now I don't know what was going through my mind at the time but I thought it would be cool to have outfits for the main characters when the weather is really hot or something. It just made sense at the time so I spent tons of hours making these. Alice was first so I think she needs a lot of work. As a matter of fact I'm planning on editing them both. These are the concepts I had in mind. Keep in mind that this is my first time editing sprites. I thought it would make sense if her hair was tied up in a pony tail although I particularly do like the look of high ponytails on women in general. I guess that's what women do in the summer anyway since all that hair could get sticky. She needs work in a couple of places particularly I think I'll have to draw the legs instead of pasting the fighter girls. I really like how Lucia came out. It was when I started working on her that I learned to turn anti aliasing off. Plus I couldn't simply paste someone's sweat pants on her since I didn't have internet at the time so I had to draw them. I was surprised to find out that drawing with the mouse wasn't extremely difficult. She didn't seem to need a ponytail with her hair tied up as is. Besides I couldn't think of a hair design that would be different but stay true to her character. I need help with learning how to make the wrinkles on her pants. They seem a little strange. So what do you guys and gals think? You can save the images and replace the trainer cards character sprites would these if you want. I checked first so I can say it works. By the way I used Paint.net and I'm open to using other free software if you've got any suggestions because this took a while for me to get it to look somewhat decent. Not just a simple cut and paste project I literally had to make sure those pixels would blend by using the pencil tool and magic brush to get the shading to look right. I would very much appreciate some feedback or constructive criticism. Especially if you happen to be a pixel artist. I sort of need help learning the trade.
  7. Natu's overall movepool makes it even difficult to use in game as well. Magic bounce walls troll pokemon like Klefki, Sablye, and Dusclop whose main job is to cause status effects like swagger, thunder wave, will o wisp, and curse. Most of the enemies in reborn don't have troll movesets like Klefki's thunder wave, swagger, subsitute and foul play. However, those sets still puts Xatu and Espeon in danger of being ko'd by foul play. Cottonee was different that thing could be level one and say "hey Garchomp you know I have this thing called prankster and it lets me leech seed you first no matter how fast you are. Bye bye. " I could see natu being useful for fighting Taka who honestly spams confuse ray way too much with Lileep and deals too much damage with Chatot's chatter. It would be nice if two or three pokemon could keep up with levels but that sounds a bit difficult to achieve. I know that generally pokemon gain more experience if they defeat opponents with higher level pokemon and less with lower level pokemon. I guess that was Nintendo's way of adding a level cap from gen V onward. Now it takes more time to level up than usual since we no longer gain a consistent amount of experience anymore. What you're suggesting isn't impossible just difficult to do the math for right now. For me at the moment. It wouldn't bother me if adding extra trainers was the case since I almost always have a team of six pokemon. I'm also thinking about the unintentional consequences that you brought up as well which got me thinking. What if there are so many mandatory trainer battles that the game feels a little claustrophobic where you never seem to get a break from battling? The beginning as you mentioned may have some mandatory trainers removed or become optional. Perhaps for the case you just mentioned it would be better if some trainers had a few extra pokemon so players could gain the necessary experience in case there's an overload of trainers. Normally I hate puzzles that look like puzzles. I particularly liked anything that used the environment to form a puzzle that I don't notice as a puzzle until I've solved it or have gotten frustrated enough to quit. I liked Iola Valley because parts of the environment changed and had an appealing look such as the crystal bridges. It would be nice if you could earned something for breaking all the green crystals.
  8. I feel like I'm late to the party. That sounds fair to me. I remember when I played Black and the times I chose to switch up my team was ridiculous but it was fun because I never felt as though it would take too long to train up something that could be usable. It made the game more interesting as I challenged myself by using new pokemon i just got familiar with after a little bit of grinding. Natu is probably the weakest magic bouncer threat if you ask me. Its lacking baton pass which is what made Espeon nearly unstoppable on a baton pass team. This flaw makes it difficult for Natu to do anything but reflect status afflictions and deal minimal damage I agree with ame on the increase in optional trainers if necessary. One of the strengths behind of the design of pokemon games is giving the player a choice of battling all of the competition right away for experience or sneaking by to search for items. It can also be a slightly better alternative for players who choose to level up a new pokemon. There is that rare occasion right before we go on a quest just to get hm strength seems like it could make an interesting place for adding the R/S/E exp. share. At that point many players were close to the level cap and some wanted to use this as an opportunity to raise new pokemon while progressing. It would be pretty useful but not game breaking. I'm not quite sure if i'm a category one or two player but grinding has always been tedious and it doesn't add a challenge to gameplay at all. I'm ok with the optional trainers being used to grind in a Pokemon game but repeatedly going into tall grass to fight more pokemon? That's the same as me playing any old rpg where I repeatedly run around in circles hoping to get into random battles or traveling a world map in hopes of spawning new enemies. The level cap isn't here just to restrict grinding but to reduce the need for it too. If there is a need to grind then there's no point in having the level cap because now players will have to worry about whether they're pokemon have an opportunity to make a move. That is not a challenge. A real challenge may take your pokemon's levels into account but you shouldn't been limited to using pokemon so underleveled that there's absolutely nothing you can do but go back and grind in tall grass. For the weaker pokemon you're capable of fighting with you should at least be able to pull off a move. Sometimes they're outclassed by the enemy but the next time you fight, you'll have a better tactic not necessarily a more buffed pokemon. The real challenge tests your wit on how well you can use your pokemon to foil your opponents strategy. I guess what I'm saying is that wild pokemon that live relatively close to a gym leader or boss shouldn't need to that much grinding to be able to do something in battle. However I don't expect every single pokemon to be specifically accounted for. As a general rule I personally think that areas where grinding seems to take up a bit too much time should take less. Now I grind when I feel like trying out new things but am unsure if what I have will get a chance to fulfill a tactical role in battle. I don't think its unreasonable to cut out the need for grinding particularly less powerful pokemon compared to the more powerful ones. I just checked the stats and movepool of Sigilyph DonDon brought up along with Xatu and I don't think it would be a problem for players to be able to encounter it up a few levels higher. When Gardevoir is the other optional psychic type why is this a bad idea? I'd also assume the player would have six pokemon for each gym. even though its entirely possible to win with 1 to 5 pokemon. Most first timers might want to play it safe and see what a team of six could do incase something goes wrong especially for players who don't choose torchic with speed boost. From my experience i find myself losing at least once every three playthroughs to Julia with a team of 6. Adding in more ethers means more options so I'm all for it. Otherwise most players will just stick to flamethrowers instead of fire blasts like usual games. . I wonder if I'm the only one who liked the crustle puzzle. After I noticed that certain stepping stones had more circular designs compared to the usual ones, that was how I knew which ones were safe for jumping and explored to my hearts content. I like that part about the puzzle best because the environment is effectively used for exploration and puzzle solving by giving me a reason as to why some of these stepping stones shake instead of other puzzles that simply say memorize everything and get through it. Now maybe if there were a few less dead ends and more areas to find items, trainers, npcs or special patches of grass then that could make it less tedious. Heck I wouldn't mind fishing off the rocks to find a special item or something.(provided we're on a rock surrounded by water) I guess I would say that there's more that could be done with it.
  9. I wanted to try the league at one point so I guess I'll try this in place of the league. Count me in.
  10. I want to see where this will take me so I'm going to start working on the video. When I make something post worthy I'll put it in the fan section(I think we have one). Any and all kinds of help is appreciated just send me a PM if you're interested.
  11. I'm glad this thread is getting some attention. As for graphics, Gamefreak would most likely stick to something 3d though I'm not sure if they'd want to stick to the graphics from gates of infinity after seeing Pokemon X and Y come out. They may see 2d sprites as taking a step backwards and ruining the fun for the new generation. A point to take note of: 3) some Pokemon were available rather than all Don't worry Lost I think I've got a clever idea for putting the choice of gender in the video. It involves being a little creative with the story this time around which gets me excited yet a little scared. A lot of you guys have tender memories with the MD series and I'm unsure if I'd be changing the experience too much. I will not however do this blindly since I have been looking into the older games earlier today. I want to make this video with the fans in mind so I can use all the help I can get especially if it involves key story elements that made the series as great as it was.(video editing, sound editing, compositing, and things of that nature are welcome since I'm still a newb to all of it:send me a PM if you can help) I'm going to update my post up top because now I'm excited but unsure if I should go along with making the video. I mean I know it doesn't guarantee that anything will been seen and considered by Gamefreak but should I go for it? I'm interested but I want to know if you guys would like to see a video that gives Gamefreak the requests of the fans. I'll continue doing research as I wait for more posts.
  12. Gee it's not looking too good. Sounds like you guys might have lost faith in Gamefreak. So far there are two things I see that are missing: 1) more difficulty 2) lack of an emotional story I just want to get this right so there was more to the story for the second installment after the main story was over? I'll definitely keep your points in mind and I'll have to look into the first and second installments a little. Especially, since Pineapple mentioned some add on's like treasure boxes, outlaws, an improved recruiting system, and bottles that washed up with there occasional hidden missions. I've still got time to wait for more posts.
  13. Hey guys I know I haven't been posting around here as much however something interesting came to my attention. I've heard that a lot of people like the pokemon mystery dungeon series and are trying to convince Nintendo to put out another one. Now I haven't played any of those games but I've looked at part of a walkthrough of just Gates to Infinity and noticed some nice bits about the series. I was thinking of working on a small fan made video based on what the fans want like any features that should be added or removed from a future title. 1)Do we really need a new PKMN Mystery Dungeon? 2)If the answer is yes then I must have some sort of input for example what did you guys like and hate about the games changes through the series? What worked and what didn't if that makes more sense. 3)Is it a good or bad idea to make a fan made video(supported by fans) for a new PKMN Mystery Dungeon series? If we can get an organized list then all I have to focus on is making the video which will feature SOME 3d animated pokemon. 3d models seriously do take time to build. I don't know how long it'll take for me to make it but I'm willing to try my hardest if everyone's willing to help with getting the list together. Oh and please feel free to point me to a walkthrough or so of any favorite mystery dungeon games you guys have. That would help a little If this thread doesn't get much buzz going then I won't go through the trouble since 1) this is will be my first fan video made with 3d software and some 2d software and 2) I'd be soloing as of now. I'm no pro at this so all of my practice would be put to the test. If this does go well then I guess I could upload images of my progress here maybe? I guess I'll wait at least a week to give everyone time. Please discuss.
  14. I agree with both sides of this issue. Having players use items instead of pokemon would most likely break the immersion of you working with your pokemon. However, it is really annoying to force player to use these moves that take up battle slots. Sadly players of this day and age have come to use pokemon for labor while naming them HM slaves. Tragic I say..I think this problem should have been fixed way before we got Ruby and Saphire. There's nothing wrong with having your pokemon work with you to overcome field obstacles. It would probably be better if gamefreak made every hm forgettable. Or even better just have other moves classified as cutting, smashing, or strength/moving. There are alternatives but they're not being used and I don't see why not. I'm gonna name a few but this time I'll attempt to put a goof cap on. Cut or Slash: what's the difference? Night Slash: still slashin Psycho Cut: if there's a difference I don't see none Air Cutter: I cut the air man so trees count too Air Slash: hack an slash there ya go Sacred Sword: master sword man! you can cut grass with it! Rock Smash or Brick Break: ey man you saying I can bust bricks and shatter magic walls but I can't smash this rock? Zen Headbutt: I'm using my head man! Hammer Arm: no need for a hammer I got this arm Karate Chop: man did it before Razor Shell: that's a hard shell man Razor Leaf: Bulbasaur cut a rock once Hyper Beam: should blast a line of them rocks in one go Strength or Superpower: We gotta power so lets move stuff Giga Impact: why not we push it one space at a time anyway Bulldoze: come on man its common sense Telekinesis: mind over matter Gravity:its on hill man so its sliding cause of gravity no what I'm sayin Smash every rock around you Draco Meteor: it better do something That was horrible. My point is that maybe if we had more options using other moves it wouldn't be as frustrating. In Reborns case I don't know that's a bit of hard coding so I don't know if its possible. The main series however needs to update HMs.
  15. I'll try and finish watching later but I like the maple story sprites. I think that since the quality of the maple story sprites looks so much better than the pokemon ruby/saphire sprites, it looks a bit strange to have both styles together particularly in the overworld but very strange in battle unless they're supposed to be midgets. Very clever job on the light shard effects. I like it.
  16. A heroic sense of justice entered my soul with a passion while filling me with the hope of tomorrow. I couldn't have said such a thing better myself. I too would like to become strong enough to help those in need. When I think about myself personally though, I want to be someone who can take care of himself without becoming too dependent on others. I figure if I can do that then I'll be able to help others without causing extra trouble along the way.
  17. Arceus most likely won't let my Aromatisse get away with that tactic. I was also wondering about the corrosive field. Couldn't you terminate it with like a psychic move or something that has to do with magic? I'm just imagining epic mickey using his paint brush to bring plain old brooms lying around to life so they could do the cleaning for him. I could see something like that happen with Alakazam.
  18. I don't know what advise is right to give but I know that it takes a strong person to be able to talk about things like this. I know this world is harsh but I tend to forget about the possibility of such evil crimes. All I can do is take your story and let other people know about crimes like this in America so that maybe someday the people can put a stop to it. I won't just up and do it without your permission because this is very personal. If anything just keep living for the future. The kids of the next generation need to know about this stuff. They need your help over there so if you can I don't know how but try and pass this story on to them in some way.
  19. Force players to fight the boss Garchomp two more times in a row(his items restocked both times) after winning(without healing) and give them a direct indication of being rewarded a shiny random pseudo legendary just before the second fight. My attempt to portray evil you could say.
  20. Very interesting. I wonder how soon we'll have access to using the move effects. The fire terrain will almost murder anyone's vanilluxe with one hit from what I can tell. So it works like stealth rock but since vanilluxe can have ice body it'd be the same as it losing half of its max health I think? That rainbow terrain is like telling me don't push your luck with normal types but we'll see what happens.
  21. Your right in this case you would be playing God since you'd be controlling the weather for ALL of Reborn. However, the time limit suggestion sounds like it would be doable. I like the area specific weather idea a lot. I don't know if this would be code heavy or not since the weather is always the same in every outdoor area. If a global variable is being used for the weather(I assume it's one of those variables since one weather type exists throughout the whole outside world) then this would probably take some time. But it's such a cool idea though! It would keep players from becoming too dependent on drought Ninetails or drizzle Politoad since you could start battles in the sun or rain ahead of time. There are a couple of ways to lower the abuse of this ability. -As Cepheus mentioned a time limit. (Acquired Late/Post Game) -You could also limit the amount of times a player could change the weather each day/or the amount of times the player could use Sunny Day, Hail, etc. (Acquired Late/Post Game) -If there are more battles like the one with Cal outside and the weather control becomes too useful to players then the weather could revert back to the usual pattern of the forecast before every trainer battle. Which would neglect the automatic drought/drizzle ability the player would get before trainer battles and only let players use it for catching event pokemon.(Acquired Mid/Late Game) I love this kind of stuff.
  22. True but whats the fun in that when you've finally become epic enough to legitimately control the weather with your own pokemon?
  23. ......man you could of put this under my Lets talk Game Design topic. It's all thorough too. Well luckily I know that the first option would be easy to implement. How of course? I tested pokemon essentials so it's do able. Ame might consider it but I don't know what her plans are. I've got a hunch that she might allow free weather control at some point but who knows. The second option is much more interesting though it will probably bit more code heavy. This reminds me of the anime. I can see it right now just like that episode from pokemon advanced where the traveling son of the Winstrate family had his Alakazam use rain dance to stop the flaming eruption from a Camerupt.(I think that's how it went) You've got to be a powerful trainer to control the weather and the gym badge requirement seems to mesh so well with this idea. I would definitely want to go with this option if I could. However, since Ame's game is currently in the development phase I don't think she'd want to mess with this option because well she's halfway there to finishing the whole game. I'd assume she'd want to finish it up with the plans she already has. Although it is fun though to look at what parts of a game should change according to the players power so I don't see a problem in suggesting idea's to discover other possibilities.
