My last post is kind of massive for an action post. Most of the length comes from descriptions and the like, but if I've gone too long without giving you a chance to act then by all means, call me out on it.

Archer's feet danced as he dodged the true tip of his opponent's lance, and he saw its impact before the weapon hit the ground sending sparks flying. However he wasn't ready for the ever growing flames engulfing the lance to chase him after he'd already dodged the attack. Off balance he realized he had no time to dodge and instead did the only thing he could.
"Varunastra" came the cry from the one most beloved of the gods. With no time to visualize how he wished to wield the water, Arjuna summoned it in its most basic form, and suddenly a torrential river was created inside the street.
But too late, as by the time the water reached him and engulfed the flames, they were already burning away at his right leg. The superficial damage done by the flames was quickly healed though, and Archer paused to hail his opponent. "Fighting you up close is challenging, there are few that could make me openly admit that. Still, your weapon is more troublesome than yourself, and it seems to be getting more dangerous as time passes. To get around that fact I guess I'll just have to try a little harder."
With that said Archer jumped and landed on top of the now knee deep water's surface. Then he leaped backwards with all his speed to get some distance between them. Standing quite calmly on top of the water, without breaking its flow he sheathed his sword and extended his left arm out to his side materializing a bow, resplendent in its beauty. Made of wood but covered from top to bottom in gold bosses, the ends radiating a golden light equal to the purity of its wielder. The size of the bow is a good 5 feet in length when bound by the bowstring. A quiver materializes over Archer's right shoulder, and another by his right hip, opposite the scabbard with his sword now sitting in it on his left.
Archer draws and nocks an arrow from the shoulder mounted quiver, and then draws the string back, the bow taking up an immense amount of power in the process. With an excited smile on his face, wider than any seen yet Archer says "Feel honoured that you are facing down the Gandiva Flavius. I honestly did not expect to need it against one of your caliber. Now die!" With that shout Archer releases the arrow.
As the arrow is released from the bow a shockwave runs through the air and the water behind Archer, demonstrating the power of its flight. Accompanying this is a booming sound like thunder, even though the skies above are clear, and the stars perfectly visible.

Funnily enough I didn't actually step on the lance. Ordinarily I would have, but it's kind of on fire. Do you think you can edit your post?
-
Mmmk.

"He wants me to jump" was Archer's immediate impression of the low sweeping attack executed by the Lancer before him. However past experience with fighting longer weapons has taught him that he will be at an immediate disadvantage if he enters the air. "I'll have nowhere to dodge and his spears length is unsettling."
Instead of jumping the sweeping lance Archer struck downwards with his blade, blocking the spear haft with the flat of his blade. Archer was surprised at the amount of strength required to stop the swing, as he needed both hands to fully halt its progress. "Strength equal to a demigod, you're not a typical Lancer" he exclaimed, charging forward with sparks running along the length of the spear, ready to unleash a flurry of lightning quick strikes the instant he gets in range.

Double post but I've gotta get this out there. Dunno if you understood my previous post Flynn but I'd already taken Archer past the point that I think you're writing at. Did I move too quickly? I can edit mine to make it fit if you want, but I've gotta go for now. Domestic issues.

What? Hell no, Archer isn't the type to kill innocents. Gandiva has the unfortunate side effect of giving off the sound of thunder every time it's fired. I'm gonna specify clear skies if I do need to fire it, that should be enough right?

The grin didn't leave Archer's face as his opponent materialized a gargantuan spear. He had expected something along these lines to happen, no servant would willingly die without a fight, though he hadn't expected the weapon to be quite this... big. The thrust was fast but Archer is faster. Just as he's thinking he should have no trouble dodging it he feels an impact on his breastplate. That catches the servant by surprise, there looks to be a good three feet left to go before reaching the tip of his opponent's spear but something is hitting his armour. Through a combination of natural talent, the teachings of a master, and a lifetime of combat experience Archer is able to avoid the worst of even this surprise attack, though it still leaves him wounded and his armour rent.
Archer's momentum is too great to stop now and so instead of retreating backwards he races past the servant with a light flick of his sword arm to keep his opponent's spear busy as he does so.
"That's more like it Lancer. It's a neat trick you've got there, I think I understand it but it begs confirmation." After his wound is healed and his armour restored Archer moves in again. "The only way to beat a spear is to get inside its range" thinks Archer "though that may be more difficult than I'd first thought. I don't expect him to just let me in."

Honestly, I didnt think people would do anything on day one, lol... if I did, I would have sent Rider to pick up groceries in Shinto so he'd be present during the conflict xc
I can give him an avenue in. Even if Rider can't sense the conflict from there (which we can probably say he can if you want to show up) if Archer is pushed to the point at which he feels the need to pull out Gandiva the whole city is going to know about it.

and well, F/SN Archer held up against Cu.
Depends on when you're talking about. Well, actually no it doesn't. The first time they fight Lancer is inhibited by a command seal lowering his abilities, the second time it is a one sided massacre. I just read that part in the VN, Lancer slaughters him.

"Hah" laugh's Archer "letting chivalry be the death of them is the mark of every knight of honour. I have given you more than enough time to draw your weapon, it leaves a bitter taste in my mouth but if you refuse to fight then you will simply die all the quicker."
So saying Archer closes the gap between the two in less than a second and jabs his sword forward, aiming for his opponent's heart.

Oh and just a heads up for the up coming fight Flynn. If you want an idea of Archer's skill level in melee combat I'm going to try and write it as if he's equivalent to Karna, seeing as in the legend he was considered Karna's equal in skill at just about everything. For reference on how good Karna is check here for a short fight between Karna and Siegfried: http://forums.nrvnqsr.com/showthread.php/1451-Fate-Apocrypha-Translation-%28no-spoilers%29?p=1300452&viewfull=1#post1300452
Archer won't have the advantage of reach like Karna does, but his skill is undeniable.

Back in the very early days of planning this I was considering using Samson as Berserker. That would have been a pretty monstrous servant, though probably not as OP as my Archer.
Plus with a strength ranking of EX the instant mad enhancement is turned on the master's probably gonna kark it in around 5 minutes or so.

Archer's features distort in anger at the mention that he was not worthy of this servant's respect.
"You insult me servant. The fact that I do not live by a knight's code of conduct does not leave me devoid of honour. But you confuse me, first you speak of yourself as a knight and now I am to believe you are a Roman general? If you truly are Flavius Aetius then I'm disappointed, I'm here to fight skilled warriors rather than famous generals. But if you are the honourable knight that you would have me believe then you would not lie to me, so either you've been deceiving me from the start or Flavius Aetius is not your typical honourless Roman."
After saying such Archer regains his composure and his facial features quickly return to the lazy grin that he is so often seen wearing.
"But you have done me a service in naming yourself, as dubious as that act may be. Even if you are a filthy liar your actions do not excuse me from my own path of conduct. Perhaps once I name myself you will have a better opinion of me. You stand before true royalty here tonight Flavius, I am Arjuna Pandava, 3rd prince of Hastinapura and a being well removed from the league of Flavius Aetius. If you don't understand your predicament already you soon will, choose whichever weapon you are strongest with, I wish to kill you at your best. Don't keep me waiting though, I don't have all night."
With that Archer glances at the second master here. "Now that they know who I am the second servant will be returning shortly. Preserving the life of an allied servant is far more important than whatever their business in there is. I'd like to kill Flavius before the second one returns" he thought to himself.

A good rule of thumb for that area is at every opportunity try to travel towards the top of the screen. If you find you go the wrong way then come back and try a different path.

I jam out to that every time you post it for a new staff member.

Shouldn't that have hurt him though? I mentioned before it should be at around an A rank noble phantasm level.

Now now guys, you can't expect episode 14 when the beta hasn't even been released yet.

That's a mammoth effort right there. I thought my Fate magic summary was long.
As far as recommended pokemon/sets go maybe anyone can contribute? As long as you're the only one with input into what is recommended people that use this as a guide are going to have their playthrough constrained somewhat by what you like/find effective which is not necessarily everything out there.

Congrats Hilda and Murdoc.

"A very respectable man makes his presence known tonight" replies Archer "his presence, but not his name. You speak of a knight's code of honour, I can respect that. The choice to uphold all that is good and strike down all that is evil, it is a virtuous path. I lived a similar life once though I was bound by nothing but respect for my brothers. I had no code to follow but my own. Therefore if you were to give your name I would likely give my own, but out of gratitude rather than obligation. Unfortunately while you've already stated you have important business here tonight, that was somewhat obvious yet I still interrupted. My own business here is of equal import and cannot be solved by a simple drink. No, the only way my business can be concluded is with the blood of a foe."
So saying Archer readies his weapon of choice. Not his bow as this would be a dead giveaway of not only his class but the identity of the man constrained by it. Instead Archer draws a sword, a blade of exquisite make, with a gem encrusted hilt, but ultimately an ordinary sword when compared to the noble phantasms of other servants.
"Draw your weapon unknown knight. By the looks of you you're unlikely to be Caster or Assassin, and your capacity for intelligent speech rules out Berserker. So Saber, Lancer, Archer, or Rider. Which will it be I wonder?"
-
I remember reading something on this exact topic in the visual novel. At that point in time they were comparing a C rank noble phantasm to being approximately equivalent to an A or maybe A+ rank normal attack. Don't quote me on it because my memory's pretty hazy so I can't remember which it was but an A++ ranked normal attack is probably hitting up the area around an A rank noble phantasm.
-
Sheep, can you gimme a bit to reply to Archer? I just walked into Calc class and it'll be a little while.
That's fine, I'm in no hurry.

Uh, it sounds like Nadia is using projection magic. That's the stuff Shirou uses to make something out of nothing, seeing as it's its own branch of magic I don't think Nadia would be able to access it through her darkness magic. It's more likely that she would be able to fire swords made of mana, in which case magic resistance would counteract them.
