  1. Tfw I look at my current avatar and realize she could be Elesa's punk-ish sister.

    Definitely. I couldn't agree more.

I guess I'd better post something constructive here though so, tfw my best friend, who I see in a gap of around a month each year, is coming back again in a week. Looking forward to seeing that bloke so much.

  3. The interesting thing about these images is that they are all anime adaptations of real life artwork depicting these past characters.

In order of class we have:

King Arthur at the battle of Camlann:

    How_Mordred_was_Slain_by_Arthur.jpg

Diarmuid and Grainne in the sculpture the tree of love:

With that in mind I've compiled a few pieces of artwork so that you could put your imagination to use animefying them.

  4. There are plenty I could draw on.

Arjuna shooting a fish through the eye while it is hanging from a string, looking only at its reflection in a pool of water and shooting behind him (with a divine bow that only the greatest of heroes could wield) at the tournament to win the hand of Draupadi.

Arjuna receiving Gandiva after invoking Varuna alongside Krishna and Takshaka.

Arjuna and Krishna successfully fighting Indra (a god) to a standstill.

Arjuna receiving Pashupatastra after a contest of martial strength with Shiva (which Arjuna lost, but he did impress Shiva and was therefore granted the weapon).

Arjuna feasting with the gods in Heaven while still alive.

Arjuna putting the whole Kaurava army (including figures like Karna) to sleep using Sammohana, and then stealing all of their clothes to demonstrate how thoroughly one man had beaten them.

Arjuna fighting Karna as the entirety of both armies paused the war in awe of the clash of these two titanic warriors.

Arjuna weeping on the battlefield after learning that Karna (whom he had just killed) was his older brother.

Arjuna's resurrection after being killed by his son as a lesson from the gods.

Yeah, his legend is pretty huge, so there are a lot of potential moments that would work. Take your pick really.

  5. June 15th 8:04 AM

Andrew was sitting at the table of his hotel room, sipping some coffee when he saw Archer for the first time that morning. "Morning Archer" he said and the servant nodded in acknowledgment in response. Andrew then offered his servant some breakfast and a seat at the table. "While you're eating, do you want to go over the events of last night?" Andrew asked.

"I think that'd be best. Examine the details while our memories are still clear" replied Archer.

"Memory's good but I've got something better" chuckled Andrew with a pleased look on his face as he turned the TV on. After hitting a few more buttons a recording of last night's clash with Lancer started playing on the screen.

"You recorded it all?" Asked Archer in surprise.

"Through a familiar" said Andrew "a useful little construct, small, and with virtually no presence. Its only functions are to move through space rapidly, view things in a wide range of spectrums and relay that information back to an electronic device. The recording was done on this TV."

As the scene played out on the screen in front of them they watched in silence, until shortly after the use of Vajira. At that point Andrew paused the playback. "That man standing next to Lancer, I assume that's his master?" Andrew asks Archer.

"Lancer never said, but I think it's a pretty safe assumption to make" Archer replied.

Andrew pondered, looking at the screen as if troubled by something. "I feel like I've seen that man's face before, and recently. He's probably on the list of mages I've recorded entering the country, though I can't remember who he is" he said. After this the recording continued to play and was paused once more shortly after, as the second master-servant pair enter the scene. "That master is without a doubt Siegfried Einar" said Andrew. "He was one of the potential masters on the wrecked plane from a week ago-"

"And his servant is likely Berserker" continued Archer.

    "You think so?" Andrew inquired.

"Think about it" Archer quickly states. "I'm naturally tall thanks in no small part to my divine blood, but that servant dwarfs even me. His muscles betray enormous strength of body, and he charges me without drawing a weapon or even saying anything. What other class fits that description?"

"When you put it that way it seems obvious" Andrew agrees.

Andrew takes a moment to summarize their conversation so far "so Siegfried Einar has summoned an unknown Berserker, and is cooperating with an unknown master who has summoned Celtchar of Ulster in the Lancer class."

Archer nods and says "it seems so Andrew. What do you know about Celtchar?"

"Not as much as I'd like. He's a minor Irish hero who was killed by his own weapon. The spear is much more remarkable than the man behind it, and its blood lust is said to be near uncontrollable. That's about all I know" Andrew responds.

"He's a nasty piece of work" said Archer, his voice showing rare signs of contempt "I get the impression he's okay with victory by any means necessary. But does the presence of this alliance change our plans at all?"

Andrew thought about that for a while before deciding to simply ask Archer "who do you think is the more pressing threat? Them or Assassin?"

"Depends on Berserker" came the response from the servant "I wasn't even using half of my full capacity last night, so if that's the best Lancer can do he isn't a servant we should be worried about, but depending on Berserker fighting them both at the same time might be tricky. At the very least I'd have to release the restraints on Gandiva, and use it to its full potential."

"Well I guess we'll just have to wait and see if Assassin will take the bait for now, they might be more worried about the other two. You said you sensed a bounded field near the fight last night? It's an unusual move for any master to erect a bounded field that you could find yourself, and its clear that Berserker was busy checking it out last night. The field has me interested so unless you have any objections that'll be our objective for the rest of the morning" says Andrew, wrapping up the analysis of last night.

Archer looked at Andrew and quite simply said "None."

  6. Don't worry, I got it covered ^~^

Ah good. I'm approaching the end of Heaven's Feel in my journey through the visual novel, and let me tell you I've learned a lot about how the whole system of the holy grail war works. In short it's really complex but I should (in theory) be able to guide us through the technicalities if the system is the same this time around.

  7. is it bad that I want to see a duel between Siegfried and Nadia?

I read this like Beowulf and Nadia and was like "o_o is he gonna go easy on her or is he just gonna smash her into the ground?"

Quick question directed at Rusty while I'm here, is Caster planning on restricting the effects of hysteria to the masters/servants or is she letting it run rampant among the populace in order to build it up more quickly?

  8. Oh come on mate, no one's trying to take a stab at your intelligence here. We're putting songs in spoiler tags to reduce the lag on the site and it was quite a reasonable reminder, I'm quite sure there was no offense intended so there's no need for you to get defensive.

  9. Archer returned to the hotel room directly from the battlefield. Being followed didn't concern him, he couldn't sense another servant's presence so only Assassin could possibly be tailing him, and if that was the case then there are worse things to have happen. If they were to set a trap for Assassin, they'd need to lure him with some enticing bait anyway.

Andrew welcomed him back upon his arrival. "Archer, you fought magnificently tonight! I was in awe just watching the two of you go at it. I'd heard servants were powerful beings, but that doesn't fully prepare you for the spectacle of a battle between servants" he said enthusiastically. Andrew continued when he saw Archer take a seat with a tired sigh "how are you feeling Archer? It looked like you were throwing out some pretty impressive attacks. I think I counted three astras all up."

"That's right" replied Archer "Lancer withstood two of my more minor astras, and survived with some injuries. The third I needed to use to secure an easy getaway. Depending on the power of the second servant I might have been able to kill them both there, but there's no point in risking that so early in the war. I've still got enough prana to use two or three more of my smaller astras though I do feel slightly fatigued after that ordeal, I've never had to use three in one fight before. From that perspective it looks like this grail war will be as entertaining as I'd hoped."

"Okay, get some rest Archer" said Andrew. "I'll do the same and we'll go over the implications of tonight's clash tomorrow morning. Feel free to replenish your prana from my own stocks while I'm sleeping" and so saying Andrew Whitcombe, master of Archer, heads to bed.

  10. Archer's eyes narrowed as he saw that his opponent was wounded but still standing. Furthermore it seems his friend has now been ordered into the fight and is wasting no time in closing the gap. "Time to leave" thinks Archer "our objective should have been completed by now and that servant isn't one I want to let too close to me."

He dodges backwards, doing his best to keep his distance from the now airborne servant and fires off a quick volley of arrows, his limbs moving in a blur to make it happen. With the final arrow fired Archer reveals yet another noble phantasm, this time calling out "Varunapasha" and the final arrow morphs into thick ropes seeking their target.

Without pausing to witness the effect of his barrage, Arjuna turns and moves to escape into the night.

  11. Archer noticed several things at the same time. The most pressing of these is that the servant that had been sent into the bounded field has now returned. Next is that Lancer didn't stop the arrow sent in his direction, he dodged it. "There's no way his movement has been impeded by Varunastra, he'd never have been able to dodge if that were the case. Is he like me or are his flames truly that powerful?" After hearing Lancer's declaration, his true name now revealed and his line about respecting Archer's abilities Archer responds with "it is only natural that you would respect me, I am close to the pinnacle of such values. It would appear that we are similar yet different. I respect power and skill in a warrior just as you do, but I also respect kindness and honesty, the latter of which you have failed to uphold."

As Archer speaks he notices Lancer create a smokescreen to cover his movements, confirming that his flames are capable of holding the torrent at bay, and watches him rush to the side of his allies, keeping track of Lancer by the glow of his weapon in the steam. "Now that he has an ally this could get interesting" thinks Archer "but my primary mission here tonight is not the death of these two warriors, and I don't want to use too much power, weakening myself for anyone else that might be watching. It's time to end it."

Archer pulls another arrow from the quiver at his shoulder, fits it to the bow, and draws the string back. He then looses the arrow at Lancer, just as he arrives at his destination with a cry of "Vajira!"

  12. Yeah, he's kind of like a less powerful version of Gilgamesh with a better personality.

Gandiva is less powerful but similar to Gate of Babylon.

Varunapasha is less powerful but similar to Enkidu.

Pashupatastra is less powerful but similar to Ea.

    Etc.

  13. Normally, I would have had Archer Lancer? follow you as you retreated, but as long as you don't have a problem with my post, it all works out.

I thought you might have, but I feel like Lancer wouldn't have been able to keep up with Archer anyway. If he moves to pursue him then he's knee deep in water while Archer's running over the top of it, and Archer's faster to begin with. That's my justification anyway. Quick question, at the time of your post was Lancer in the water? Or is the fire keeping him completely dry? I must admit I didn't expect it, seeing as Varunastra is a noble phantasm as well, it's not like this is ordinary water. Still I do need to make some compromises. As he moves to find Hels is he in the water then? Or is he able to move while staying out of it? The reason I'm asking is I'd like to release Vajira into the water, resulting in an attack of B+ magnitude that will target anyone in the water, masters and servants. I don't want to kill anyone though, so if you can find a way to reduce the damage Lancer takes, and get the two masters out of there that'd be great. Otherwise I won't do it as B+ is generally enough to kill an ordinary servant. At the same time, Archer is mainly here to get Assassin's attention and convince you MA guys that he's the real threat, so I need to finish this with something flashy.

Also, those attacks you sent my way, are they gonna be neutralized by the water and just act as a kind of smoke screen or do I need to dodge them?

Also, Saber followed by Rider should be arriving soon too.

Mhm. That's why I'm looking for a flashy finish now.

Final question, and this is for everyone. I was reading this resource (http://www.chakranews.com/powerful-spiritual-and-physical-weapons-from-ancient-hindu-texts/2762) for more info on the weapons Archer is slinging around and I found one that I'd previously missed. It's called the Brahmashira, and I missed it before because Arjuna had it, but never used it because it's too powerful. It is approximately four times as powerful as Brahmastra, so it would definitely be EX ranked, though it probably still wouldn't be as powerful as the EX ranked Pashupatastra, which reputedly has enough power to destroy all of creation. My question is whether or not it would be okay to go back and edit Archer's profile to add this weapon to his arsenal. Honestly it likely won't affect the story one way or the other, as I can't imagine a scenario with the servants you guys have summoned in which Archer would ever want to use something so horrendously overpowered. It would no doubt destroy the entire city if he did. I'm mainly just asking for peace of mind, because I'd like to represent him as accurately as possible.
