  1. If you use Sunny Day on a Snowy Mountain field the sun will last for 8 turns as intended, but the last few (I'm assuming once it exceeds Sunny Day's original duration) have no text indicator to go with them. It's still pretty obvious that it's happening because it plays the animation, but the text that usually goes with it is blank. Same thing probably happens with Hail as well, and it might even carry over onto the regular Mountain field as well as weather extending items. Not sure, didn't test it. Just something I noticed.

  2. Time to return the favor. As I understand it by now the clock must have ticked over and Alexis is having a birthday. She's been around for as long (longer?) than I have so drop her a line to let her know you wish her well, those of you that haven't already anyway.

    Happy Birthday Lexi.

  3. Thanks for the birthday wishes everyone, even though I'm not around much anymore I appreciate the thought.

And... is that Vegemite? Thanks but no thanks, can't stand the stuff.

Oh and Alexis? You were dead on time, 12:00 AM I reckon, maybe 1 AM. No cheating here though.

  4. Want your favourite unit to be playable in Fire Emblem Heroes? Sick of waiting for IS to come back to Jugdral? Or Magvel? Or Tellius? Say no more, for do I have a treat for you! If you act now you can get exclusive access to... okay that's enough of that. Dunno how much longer I could have kept it up for anyway. But the title isn't clickbait, I can teach you how to make your own FE:H units thanks to this page right here: https://feheroes.gamepedia.com/Stat_Growth

Now that the gurus on the wiki have figured out the nuts and bolts of how FE:H characters are made it's actually really simple to create new characters based on their actual growth rates and base stats in their source games. Essentially you only need to generate two things, the character's base stats as a 1* hero, and their growth points. I'll go into more detail about each below:

    1* Base Stats:

As the name suggests these are the base stats of the hero as a 1* unit. By observing the free units it's become apparent that each base stat as a 1* is exactly 2 points lower than the base stat of that same hero as a 5*. It's important that we work with 1* bases and then scale upwards rather than the other way around though, because otherwise it's possible to get into negative base stats. A base stat of 0 as a 1* results in a base stat of 2 as a 5*, so if you tried to create the 5* bases first and gave a 1 or a 0 it kind of falls apart.

The total number of 1* base stats a hero is allowed depends on their unit type. It starts at 37 and is affected by a number of different additive modifiers as displayed below:

Dancer/Singer/Trainee/Young Dragon: -8 (Current Young Dragons are Nowi, Fae, and Tiki-Y. This modifier does not apply to Tiki-A, or Corrin. Ninian is also in but she's a Dancer).
Ranged unit: -3 (E.g. Archers, Dagger users, Mages, and Healers).

    Cavalry unit: -1

    Armored unit: +7

Veteran unit: +8 (E.g. Jagen or Gunter. This does not apply to Oifeys such as Frederick or Titania).

As I said before, the modifiers are additive. As an example Gunter has a 1* base stat total of 44 (37 minus 1 for being cavalry and then plus 8 for being veteran). When designing your own units I strongly recommend looking to their base stats in their original games as inspiration for their 1* base stats here. Following this the only thing that needs to be done to scale the 1* bases into 5* bases is add 2 to every stat. Additionally a boon results in an increase of 1 for the 5* base stat, while a bane results in a comparable decrease of 1.

    Growth Values:

These are a bit more interesting than the base stats. They are hidden values that each character has for each of their stats, and they govern how quickly each stat will grow as the unit moves from level 1 to level 40. The maximum growth value that can be given to a stat is 10 while the minimum is 1. Having a boon in a stat raises its growth points by 1 (to a maximum of 11) and a bane causes a decrease of 1 (to a minimum of 0). The total number of growth points a unit has is also determined by their unit type. It starts at 31 and has a set of modifiers, similar to the base stat modifiers, associated with it as follows:

    Dancer/Singer: No change.

    Trainee/Young Dragon: +6

    Ranged unit: -3

    Cavalry unit: -1

    Armored unit: +2

    Veteran unit: -6.

An interesting consequence of this is that veterans such as Jagen will actually start stronger than other units, but grow slower, while trainees like Donnel or Grey start off weak but grow like weeds. It also accounts for the lower final stats observed amongst cavalry and ranged units. As with base stats I highly recommend looking to the actual growth rates of the character you're making when looking for inspiration as to how to distribute their growth points. As for calculating how many stat points come from a particular growth point value, there's a table with all of that information in the link at the top of the page.

And that's it. To serve as an example I'll put the process I went through to make Rath (FE7) in a spoiler (just to save room) below, but you should have all the tools you need to make a stat line for your favourite Fire Emblem characters. And hey, if they're released later you can compare them with the one you made to see how close you got.

    Rath:

    Spoiler

Rath is a mounted archer, so straight away I know his 1* base stat total will be 33, and his growth point total will be 27. His relevant base stats from FE7 are 25 HP, 8 Str, 10 Spd, 7 Def, and 2 Res, while his relevant growths are 80% HP, 50% Str, 50% Spd, 10% Def, and 25% Res. Immediately apparent is his very high HP base and growth, along with the fact that his Spd base is slightly higher than his Str base, though they have equal growths, and his Def base is much higher than his Res base while his Def growth is much worse than his Res growth.

Using this information I came up with a 1* stat line for him as follows: 17 HP, 5 Atk, 6 Spd, 4 Def, 1 Res.

Each of these values then have 2 added to them in order to create the 5* base stats (boons and banes now included as well): 18/19/20 HP, 6/7/8 Atk, 7/8/9 Spd, 5/6/7 Def, 2/3/4 Res.

Following this I distributed his 27 growth points as befits his original growths: 8 HP, 7 Atk, 7 Spd, 1 Def, 4 Res. (If I were to include boons and banes it would be 7/8/9 HP, 6/7/8 Atk, 6/7/8 Spd, 0/1/2 Def, 3/4/5 Res).

Finally all that needs to be done is apply the results of his growth points to his 5* base stats to find his 5* level 40 stat distribution: 42/45/48 HP, 28/31/34 Atk, 29/32/35 Spd, 13/16/20 Def, 17/20/23 Res.

If you have any questions about the process feel free to ask, otherwise knock yourself out. Of course you can always use this system to create your own original characters as well, sky's the limit.

  5. They needed to break it down and explain it a little bit more in my opinion. In searching for an answer online all I found was a lot of confused people, so a lack of understanding about what happened seems to be a pretty common response. Needed just a little bit more time devoted to it.

As for your point, didn't they say in episode 4 that the student council would absolve the winner's debt?

  6. No the chips were each a proportion of the player's debt, so the bloke was under the impression that because Yumeko had the highest debt her chips were worth the most, when in reality Mary's declared debt was highest.

Edit: No wait, I rewatched it and now I understand what happened.

Step 1. Mary goes to the student council and falsely declares that she owes Suzui 260 million yen. She also asks them to consolidate the debt over to the student council. Thus Suzui gets a payment of 260 million yen and both Yumeko and Mary owe the student council 310 million yen.

Step 2. When they collect their cards Mary correctly declares that she owes 310 million yen, and Yumeko lies and declares that she only owes 50 million yen. Thus for the purposes of the game Mary's chips are worth far more than Yumeko's.

Step 3. Yumeko and Mary switch cards on the way to the game, so when they show up they are displaying the debts that their opponents expect to see. The only players who know the true value of the chips are Yumeko, Mary, and the dealer.

Step 4. Under this new scheme Mary wins, the side girl comes 2nd, Yumeko comes 3rd, and the bloke comes last. Mary swaps her 310 million yen debt with the loser's 10 million yen debt, and then the 10 million yen debt is absolved. Mary now owes the student council nothing, while the debts of Yumeko and the other girl are unchanged. However, Yumeko across the course of the game motivated the other girl to try and lose the debt herself.

Step 5. Mary collects the money from Suzui, she is now 260 million yen in the positive while Yumeko still owes the student council 310 million yen. What Mary will do with that money is unclear.

  7. Spoilers for anyone who hasn't seen it yet, but I'm hoping someone can explain something for me. I get that Yumeko and Mary switched debt plates, but what's all the other stuff about? How does lending Suzui a giant pile of money increase Mary's debt? Surely if anything it increases Suzui's debt, not Mary's?

So, i have played almost 1 month in this game, my first impression is "why this game is so hard for getting an ascension mats and my servants need a lot of it xD"

Don't worry too much about picking up ascension materials, you'll get them through playing the events, and better locations for drops open up later on down the line. It's much easier that way than grinding on the dailies.

As for my targets? Cu Chulainn-F/SN, Scathach, Arjuna, and Lancelot-Saber are the only servants I'm interested in picking up and don't already have. I'll need a copy of the 2030 CE as well. It'll require a lot of luck though, because Arjuna only goes on a solo rate up once, and in the Japanese version that came shortly after the Scathach+2030 rate up. It's unlikely that I'll get all 3 in such a short amount of time.

  9. No idea if I'm late but happy birthday Jerry, you're a cool dude but one of the cool things about you is that you don't need me to tell you that. Are you on discord much? Maybe I'll hit you up. I'm there pretty often but I don't pay much attention to the reborn one.

    Birthdays.

It is a prevalent social custom in our society (a social construct, you could say) to share a wish of pleasant tidings onto those we care about on the day of their birth each year. It's a custom that I used to engage in more frequently earlier in life but as time went on and I left facebook things sort of shifted. It's there that I would frequently post birthday greetings to a large group of people, most of whom I don't really talk to on a day to day basis but felt the need and social pressure to answer the little notifications in the sidebar about Johnny's birthday despite not having seen him since before high school and so on. As time passed I sort of felt like it was worse to give such an empty wish to a person that I don't really talk to much outside of that. Thus, much like thank you cards and similar things, it started to feel like a cold, robotic formality rather than a warm, caring well-wishing.

I eventually stopped honoring most of the birthdays for people that I know. I don't often write in birthday threads or even comment on birthdays as much anymore, even for people that I'm pretty close to. I feel somewhat bad for not trying to brighten up the days of people I care about with a simple little message, but I don't want to be fake about a part of their and my life that I don't invest much of myself into anymore.

    This is so damn relatable.

Anyway if my man Dan makes a thread how can I not stop lurking for a minute to wish you well? Happy birthday Ame, it was a pleasure working with you in what small capacity I did. I wish you all the best today and for the future.

And for everyone who is thinking to roll and sack genny, she really is not that bad of a unit but she dies to physical attacks instantly. Her specialty is finishing most foes off usually dishing out 20 damage. Yes, the highest attack healer only does 20 damage roughly. Probably the best infantry mage though and a lifesaver in tempest trials. Gonna love the fact she gets a buff next tempest.

Genny's not bad compared to stock healers but she is bad compared to inherited healers that can actually use Wrathful Staff well. I run a Wrathful Staff Lucius and he's out here ORKOing peeps. Unless you have an attachment to Genny as a character she really should be sacrificed to give Wrathful Staff to one of Elise/Priscilla/Lucius/Serra. Those four (plus a few others conditional on +Atk) can use the skill much better than she can.

  12. Yeah Ike was obvious, I called it as soon as the new herofest was announced. Still relieved that he is on there though.

My current cav squad runs Olwen and Reinhardt both with Dire Thunder and having the two blue mages is great. They carve a path through just about anything when covered by Stahl and Titania.

  13. If you have horse buffs then Olwen will destroy almost anything you can dream up. She's a very powerful unit, but there's nothing saying you can't run her and Ursula.

People on reddit have compared the herofest announcement silhouette with some character outlines and it looks like the featured heroes will be Ike (thank goodness), Ninian, Julia, and Genny. If you're after one of these units you'd best save your orbs.

  14. There's really no point in running anything other than buster spam at this point in the game because enemy HP totals are so low. I can clear a grinding mission in 3-4 turns just by bringing double Lancelot. Arts becomes more relevant later on, and quick never really picks up. It's too weak, and you can generate stars through skills/CEs just fine if you want them.

  15. Yeah I've been messing around on the NA server since it was released for a second chance at failing to get all of the servants that I want. Ain't nothing better than F/GO rates. I'm on my second account now, which I've only had for a week so it doesn't have much trained but what I have is a nice little crit team that's well enough to last me 'til the Scathach rate up.

For funsies  - I'll be weeb...

Top 10 waifus? From a list of 60 I've managed to condense it down into this list of 10 super hot waifus.

    10. Clair (SoV).

    9. Sonya (SoV).

    8. Selena (Fates).

    7. Titania (Tellius).

    6. Nephenee (Tellius).

    5. Olwen (Thracia 776).

    4. Marisa (Sacred Stones).

    3. Charlotte (Fates).

    2. Vika (Radiant Dawn).

    1. Cordelia (Awakening).

  17. RIP Charlotte goes from 2. to not even an honorable mention. Truly Hunter is a fickle husbando.

Mine hasn't really changed at all except the likely inclusion of Olwen near the top having now played about 2/3rds of Thracia 776.

    So that'd be like:

    10. Kagero. 70% Str/Spd 1-2 range debuffing death machine.

    9. Rath. A mounted archer with a good offensive spread and picks up swords on promote. Literally everything you could want in an archer, except availability.

    8. Ike. Badass lord who doesn't take anyone's nonsense but is sensible enough to not go looking for unnecessary fights either. Good stat distribution, powerful signature ability and weapon, and refreshingly isn't nobility.

    7. Charlotte. Crits for days and a hilarious personality.

    6. Stahl. Top 10 biggest anime bros.

    5. Olwen. B R A V E M A G I C O N A H O R S E. She can also use wind magic when she doesn't want to use up her Dire Thunder uses, and has another signature weapon which is a high might high crit Brave Sword which is effective against cavalry and gives her +10 Res and Miracle.

    4. Azama. Troll god who happens to have high stats in like everything except magic, which you don't even need to heal people in Fates.

    3. Zihark. #Youcan'tseeme. Between his 40 Spd and Earth Affinity this guy is practically impossible to hit. He also has innate Adept and frequently attacks 8 times a turn with the Brave Sword and about a 30-40% crit rate. If they're still alive that is.

    2. Lewyn. The only guy harder to hit than Zihark. Lewyn's signature weapon gives him +20 Spd and is 1-2 range. ?!?!?!? It's also 30 might so this guy eats whole armies for breakfast. He's also like an awesome character so there's that too.

    1. Cordelia. Objective best waifu who also demolishes all of Awakening from the point that she joins.

    Honorable mentions:

    Effie. Bench presses trees.

    Lucius. Definitely not a healer.

Titania. Best early game prepromote hands down.

Nephenee. A rare footslogging lance unit who isn't slow as dirt.

Haar. The single strongest flying unit there ever has been and ever will be.

Brigid. Did I say Rath was everything you ever wanted in an archer? How about bases that are near caps and a bow that's 30 might, gives +10 Str/Spd, and heals you?

Mareeta. Sooooooo muuuuuuch oooooooverkill. Personal Brave Sword with added extras, 60/75/80 Str/Skl/Spd, Luna, Astra, and a 5x multiplier to her crit chance on any of her "second" attacks.

  18. Hey Inuki, firstly I really want you to have a great day, go gettem as I frequently get told.

We don't often chat but when we do you're cool and I'm obviously cool so we're cool. Keep up the good work 'cause you're important to people who are important to me which makes you important to me, and if you ever need advice on something that I can help with hit me up, I'm always happy to help.

Recently, on another thread, another user charged that I wasn't my own person - and essentially equated me as another one of the ignorant cultists ascribing to the Christian Church and the Republican Party.

I've gotta admit I grinned when I read that. They really don't know you very well.

The idea that right wing or religious people (heaven forbid both in one) cannot possibly be autonomous critical thinking individuals with rational and defensible reasons for what they think is right is a sad one. I suppose it stems from absolute confidence that the progressive athiest/agnostic mindset is the correct one, and thus anyone who thinks differently must have simply not considered the problem well enough to find the right answer. This has been an interesting read thus far, and while I don't agree with a lot of your political standpoints, we share very similar core philosophies. Anyone who believes what they believe, with respect to theism or politics, without having thought about the issue critically and come to an informed, justified position is treading dangerous water, especially if they're vocal about it. As I'm sure you well know I'm not a creationist (though for the benefit of anyone else reading I am Christian), and the notion that many believers hold, that the bible is the only source of factual information that can explain creation, and that something is to be interpreted factually purely because it was written in the book is an attitude that I think needs to go. I'm happy for people to believe in creationism if that's what they want to believe, but don't try to maintain that you know the truth of this world based on the writing in a book, because at that point you're lying even if you don't realise it. I suppose my beef is with people who substitute belief for knowledge, and the primary cause for this (the way I see it anyway) is a lack of critical thinking.

On the topic of truth, before this year I probably would have argued in favour of truth being something that's subjective, but I've been converted. Murder wouldn't be so universally seen as wrong throughout different cultures and a long period of human history if it wasn't something that is morally wrong. The fact that so many different civilisations have laws against it is a clear demonstration that time and again in complete isolation we come to the same conclusion, murder is wrong. That's not to say that killing cannot be justified, but I think there is a clear difference between killing and murder. The way I see it governments are erected by civilisation at least in part so that they may help to uncover what these objective truths are, such that we might better align our societies alongside them. Unfortunately the nature of many truths is not quite so obvious as "should it be okay to commit murder" hence why there are very differing positions on contentious issues. I'd say it's very likely though, that someone in that great roiling debate has got the right idea, and only by considering each viewpoint carefully and critically can we come to a conclusion about which one is the one we want to go with. Trying to claim that people who hold different opinions to your own are already wrong, and simply haven't thought hard enough, doesn't help the issue.

I'm going to argue for Echoes being the last game with canon pairings... - and yes, I understand it's a Gaiden remake, but there is at least one Echoes exclusive character who marries in their ending epilogue text.

That person has impeccable taste too.

Also, aren't Pent and Louise post-Jugdral? I could be wrong.

      Reveal hidden contents

GO PLAY ECHOES I HATE BEING LITERALLY THE ONLY ONE TALKING ABOUT IT

    Ah that's a fair call, I'd forgotten about Pent and Louise. Yeah I lumped FE's 11, 12, and 15 in with 1, 2, and 3 though.

Also I wish but I can't, for starters I don't have the game (though that's not a big deal, I could go and buy it at any time), also my sister's boyfriend is borrowing my 3DS at the moment and he lives over the other side of the state from me while I'm at uni, and also also I'm at uni. Right now I'm trying to churn out assignments and I don't really have a lot of time. After this I have four weeks of professional experience and I'm going to be more busy then than I am now, and then I get a week off before I start it all over again. So you're looking at about 6-7 weeks before the earliest point at which I'll be in a position to discuss Echoes.

I think the only one I can remember bieng consdiered slightly canon ((from what I've heard don't quote me on this.)) is Eliwood/Ninian in Blazing Blade ((as it like adds a decently major scene to the ending and it's apparntly alluded to in Binding Blade.)) however the latter is only something people have told me and as I've not played Binding Blade I cannot speak to it's accuracy.

Eliwood and Ninian isn't really canon. Eliwood can marry Ninian, Lyndis, or Fiora and all three add a scene to the ending where they're talking to the tactician about getting married. There isn't really any canon pairing for Eliwood, though many people will tell you it's Ninian. Particularly astute critics of the Ninan pairing will point out how if Eliwood married Ninian then Roy would be half manakete, just like Sophia, but while Sophia doesn't appear to age at all during the time between Blazing Blade and Binding Blade, Roy very visibly does.

Charlotte. (I hope this means she is canonically marrying Xander. Best Xander backpack.)

Cordelia. I don't know who she's getting hitched. BUT I KNOW IT AIN'T CHROM.

Lyn??? I mean. Her quote in the trailer was funny. Also. She's a healer. Lol.

Charlotte, Cordelia, and Lyn will never have canon pairings. I don't think they've ever done canon pairings since Jugdral.
