I kinda need Cordelia as a Peg for now - because I'm not using Sumia and I don't get Cherche until the Valm arc.

I get that, she makes a great Peg Knight anyway but I usually run Sumia for a flier and have recently discovered the greatness that is Wyvern Rider Panne. I didn't ever use Panne 'cause like you I didn't like the Taguel class, but by using her as a Wyvern Rider her character really grew on me at the same time. Seriously that is one badass women.

It will be interesting to see who best suits someone like Maribelle, Sumia if Chrom is not the one she ends up with, Lon'qu because he's allergic to chicks, Panne because Panne doesn't trust anybody, or Olivia because Chrom is taken.

My favourite Maribelle pairing is Maribelle and Chrom 'cause out of all the non Robin choices he has, I think she'd make the best queen for the country. Also childhood friends and all that. Obviously that's not available here, but I thought I'd say it anyway. If you're looking for a good support conversation for Panne, Panne and Virion is fantastic. That one really surprised me, but considering certain parallels in their backstories it perhaps shouldn't have.

Unrelated: If you like "randomized" Fire Emblem - I highly think you guys should check out Ghast Station's randomized Conquest playthrough. Funny things like Elise being the Crown Princess, Odin being Camilla, Ike being Odin, and Marth losing every shred of dignity and becoming Peri are absolutely worth getting a few giggles and guffaws over. Also, the classes for each of the characters themselves are randomized, so you get things like Oni Savage Leo. (BRAINS -AND- BRAWNS BOI.)

Seriously. Go watch it. It's deliciously funny.

Yeah I've been light watching that, stuff is hilarious.

    FredXCordelia - C

I can already tell this is going to be a decent support chain.

Here's what happened to Frederick, Sheep. I didn't want to use Freddy until I Second Sealed him. I did - to Cavalier. Cav allows him to wield his Silver Lance and keep his movement over Knight. I didn't want to use Wyvern until I got Cherche, which is a substantial ways into the playthrough. Frederick still has insane damage output, but he isn't shrugging off enemies and he might get a little more experience now, which helps his stats a tad. Cordelia might be the best recruitment unit-wise. She's very, very, very good.

Yeah Frederick and Cordelia have a good support conversation chain, it's a bit of fun and feels natural. That's a good idea with Frederick, I've never tried it myself, how's his exp gain nowadays? And yeah you're right about Cordelia, she appears for all intents and purposes to be the best unit in the game as she doesn't need babying, and she has fantastic bases, growths, and join time. Personally I prefer her as a Mercenary/Hero to a Pegasus/Falcon Knight but she works really well in either. There is however one unit that joins that is stronger than Cordelia, though it's not immediately apparent (hence my earlier statement about Cordelia appearing to be the best) and that is Panne. If you give Panne your first Second Seal and reclass her directly to Wyvern Rider you've just created a wrecking ball that'll go on a path of destruction through the rest of the game.

Seriously what even is 105% HP, 75% Str, 65% Skl, 70% Spd, 50% Def?

Why all this support for Stahl? He's probably the most unremarkable character I've ever seen in a Fire Emblem game, and he's on a team with Kellam

Pretty sure it's just me voting for Stahl, but to answer your question have you ever actually used him? Or read his support convos? The guy is the biggest bro in the entire Fire Emblem franchise hands down. He has growths like a General but 7 movement unpromoted, which means he outclasses Kellam pretty much from the get go, and he grows much easier than Frederick, meaning that overall he's one of the best options Awakening players have for a high Def unit. Off the battlefield he is the nicest, most genuine character in the entire game, just because he isn't way over the top like Tharja or Owain doesn't make him an unremarkable character in the slightest, it just makes him more relatable.

    Heal Stahl, hurt Chrom

    Chrom: 4

    Male Robin: 20

    Female Robin: 25

    Lissa: 20

    Frederick: 21

    Sully: 16

    Virion: 18

    Stahl: 24

  4. Olwen more like Trollwen. Rolled most of what I had and got two copies of Reinhardt but no Olwen, I ain't mad 'cause he's still a mounted 5* with Dire Thunder (started typing out Dime Thunder there, damn localisations changing things) and holy hell is that a sweet combination in this game. An attack range of 4 spaces really puts a brave weapon in its element. I guess he's like Olwen in most ways, just a different personality, appearance, and name, but I haven't met Reinhardt in Thracia yet. I know him by reputation but that doesn't really stack up to a unit that I've used recently and loved using since I recruited her. We'll see what I think of him when I meet him but for now I'm definitely not chucking either of my copies, and hey, if I do still roll Olwen as well he can give her her infamous Vantage.

  5. We don't know quite how it'll work yet so anything's guesswork.

I marry her off to Azama in that route. You might approve.

I do indeed approve as I also marry her to Azama in that route. Not only is the the best Mitama, it's also a conversation chain that feels right for both of them, which is especially rare for Azama as it's hard to believe anyone would fall for him with half the stuff he says. Also I use Effie even in Revelations, granted she's not as good as she is in Conquest (her bases screw he over iirc and same join chapter as Benny makes her fairly irrelevant) but I managed to get her up to speed without too much difficulty and before long she was back to kicking ass as the Great Knight that I knew and loved.

  6. The classic community might be strong with this forum but I'm not sure how many of them (or how many FE fans at all) will drop by here to play. Assuming you do want to go through more than just Awakening we all might be dead before this is finished tbh. To speed it up you might want to run each bracket simultaneously using 8 different spoilers per post or something like that. Ah well, may as well get us started.

  7. My personal opinion is that everyone should max the EXP booster because 18 orbs for the last two upgrades sounds like a lot, but when you think about it it's about 4 heroes all up. I'd gladly sacrifice 4 heroes that I'm probably not going to want anyway to give myself a permanent 100% EXP boost for the rest of the game.

  8. So I just jumped onto Serenes Forest to check how my Leif is faring compared to his average stats (Thracia) and I saw this. If I'm reading this correctly it looks like we're going to be able to customize the skills on our heroes, which is something that I'm definitely keen for. I feel like this is going to change the entire meta, brave weapon users with Threaten Speed or Darting Blow, Armour Knights with Wary Fighter and Sol (imagine Draug, he has a Brave Sword too!). Stuff's gonna be crazy, and it's gonna earn Nintendo tons more $$$ 'cause people are gonna spend looking for the skills they want once they've got the heroes they want.

On a completely unrelated note, is Seliph any good? I can't quite recall if I've asked this, but I don't believe I received an answer if I did. He's my only five star as of now, so I'm using him, and he seems to work.

Dunno I've never used him. Looks decent but not great on paper.

Camilla from fates for two very prominent reasons I wont even try not to acknowledge (that dragon and axe, of course) and Eliwood n Roy.

My super quick synopsis of all three from their source games just in case you never play them. Camilla is really strong but I never used her outside of her join chapter because I don't like her oversexualisation or character so that's about all I can say about her. Eliwood is decent, like real middle of the pack stuff as far as lords are concerned. He's no Sigurd, Ike, Corrin, or Hector, but he's also not... well we'll get to that in a minute. Gaining a horse on promotion is great and the complete demolition of his character to overemphasise the fact that he's Roy's father is the saddest thing that's ever happened in Fire Emblem, 'cause he was a really cool guy before that. Roy is bad, like really bad. Like worst lord in the series bad. That makes it even worse when Heroes tries to hype him up by having Eliwood say that Roy is stronger than he ever was and stuff like that. Eliwood, you were stronger than Roy could ever hope to be. He has average growths but that's not where his problems stem from, the real problem with him is that he has a story forced promotion something like 3 chapters away from the end of the game. That means you spend most of the game using your other units to ferry a lv 20 unpromoted lord around each map hoping he doesn't die. Then when he promotes the game realizes he's weak as hell and gives him a strong preference weapon to compensate, Roy is such a mess.

@Sheep I see, thanks. What do you think of Jeorge or any of the healers, like Lissa and Elise?

Healers are a bad bunch unfortunately, but Lissa and Azama are probably the best of them. Emphasis on Lissa. Jeorge is great, if you have him go ahead and use him.

Effie is SO. GOOD. She's also a unit that is stacked save for stats, Max Death Blow, and the lack of the Silver Lance+, making her an exceptional 4* unit.

Yeah she's well low on my list of units to promote because she really doesn't need it. I'll definitely do Cordelia, Kagero, and Stahl before her.

This game is p much priming me to play other FE games by giving me a few heroes I didn't know about before and making them veeeery useful to me.

Who in particular? Obviously Sheena but who else?

  12. Looking at that and comparing it to mine your Kagero is definitely +Atk, -Def, which is a really good Kagero. Definitely better than my +Res, -HP one, though to be fair my Kagero is still really good just by virtue of being Kagero. I could post a similar picture but I can also sum it up very easily with:

    4* Cordelia

    4* Effie

    4* Stahl

    4* Merric

    4* Kagero

    4* Jeorge

    4* Azama

and a bunch of other 3 and 4* stuff that I don't use.
