This^^^ Also, motivation to post and taking initiative in a scenario, while related, are two different beasts. I am very on and off in posting, even in my own RPs, but I've never had a struggle with initiative. The reverse is a lot more common, where lack of interest brings about lack of initiative, but there are plenty of people like me who still manage to perform well in more open RPs, even when they're beginning to find themselves bored One of the more frustrating things for a host is when players start losing interest because they can't think of anything to post in an open scenario. The host can leave things open for players to do as they please, and they will do nothing and get bored because there's "nothing for them to do" TL;DR Taking initiative can help remedy a lack of interest, but a good (...good is a mean word, but I can't think of a nicer one that conveys my meaning) roleplayer can still manage to take initiative even when not currently interested in an RP

I second the first sentence of this Here's a fun one: There's plenty of studies into the fact that introverts on the internet have a tendency to be far more outgoing than in reality. The internet is not the same as reality, and roleplays are even further from that. A person's personality effects their roleplaying very differently from how it effects their life Your theory isn't one that can be entirely discounted on the premise of being outright wrong, but based on my experience with roleplaying and the internet in general, it doesn't hold up very well. And I don't really have anything more to give you outside anecdotal arguments and sheer internet common sense TBH it seems neither of us have hard facts (mostly because there aren't any) So we need to either agree to accept personal worldview and observations ("common sense" and anecdotal evidence) or one of us needs to miraculously produce legitimate evidence. If neither of those conditions can be met then this discussion is basically null and we should both stop wasting our time Also, note to self: Go check out some of your old RP haunts and try to do this study Other note to self: Remember what old RP haunts you even have TBH I don't have the time to do this, if I get a research project in school this year I'll use it tho, I'll be sure to share the results if I do ^^

Usually large groups of introverted RPers have the exact opposite issue. Maybe it can effect it, maybe it can't. But based on my personal experiences and observations it doesn't Also, what evidence do you have? If we're really going to start talking about reliability then you should really bring some reliable evidence of your own instead of just presenting a hypothesis and disregarding any evidence against it You're right that my personal observations might be faulty, but when it comes to something as abstract as initiative, there's not much more than personal observation to go on. Unless you have some way to make initiative countable? In which case I'll be happy to go poll some RP communities on whether or not the members are introverted and then track how much initiative the introverts take as opposed to the extroverts

Not really. The places I'm used to are the same and yet tend to have the exact opposite problem

"Hate" is a strong word IDK much about 4chan because I mostly ignore it, but I do know that part of Reddit is that it's supposed to be an open forum where people can do whatever and more or less moderate themselves. So it's to be expected that there's going to be plenty of people saying stuff that you or I consider stupid since it's a place made to let them be stupid if they want So yeah, Reddit is full of BS, but it's kind of made to allow the BS

So, Ima just not go on a rant about how frustrating I find this phenomenon. Instead lemme just say that this is a big issue between me and this RP community and is one of the reasons I struggle so much to output posts on a consistent basis

Onyx It didn't take long for Onyx to restore her clothing to normal. While she did she sent a familiar to find the mage she had sensed. It took the familiar a little while to find the mage as at that range Onyx couldn't pinpoint them exactly. When it did she was able to see a mage as well as one other person, or maybe it wasn't a person. She sat down on her bed, trying to be sure of what she was seeing. "Archer." She called, "The mage I sensed has a person with an extremely high concentration of mana in them, or rather, they have a lot of mana that's walking around like a person. I think there's a good bet they're another Master. Right now they seem to just be walking around a mall, I'm sure they assume they're safe in such a crowded area." She considered their options. One idea was to try to have Archer take the mage out from afar, it would be a suspicious looking assassination, but nothing could be traced back to her or magecraft by the public. But if the enemy mage sensed her and was able to avoid it things would get messy. Plus that way Onyx wouldn't get to have any fun. The next best thing was finding some way to lure the opponent into a back alley or something, but that would be hard since she didn't have any clue what to bait them with. She supposed she could always make her presence obvious as a sort of challenge and hope they accepted, but that would remove the element of surprise. Finally, she could find some way to clear out the building and hope to block her opponent from escaping with the masses. But that had the issue of her not having the resources to create that large of a diversion. She supposed she would just have to see what Archer came up with. But it sure seemed like they actually were safe in that crowded area.

I know you did. I just didn't really have any more for Katsuo to stay. That was also a rather iffy assumption that I'd rather you not have made (not that it's worth changing at this point) because Katsuo still would have preferred to oversee Gwaedu's checkup personally. In case it wasn't obvious, the two of them are kinda close

You might need to be more detailed about it but that definitely sounds like a viable power. There was something similar to that in the actual canon called Trick Art so it should work.

Oh yeah, it's complex AF if you try to understand it all Totally didn't come up with that power for him
