The Percy Jackson and Heroes of Olympus series of Rick Riordan. Dunno why I like them so much, but I guess it's the genre. If you like Greek/Roman mythology, you should really try these. If you're more an Egyptian mythology lover, Rick Riordan also made The Kane Chronicles, which covers that. I'm such a mythology fanboy lol.

Lionel watched as the girl started talking to Sarcus, completely ignoring him. "I promised I would help Lionel here out over lunch. If you wanted to come along, I wouldn't mind. As long as you're good with it." "O-oh, uh..." If he was honest, he would rather not have Grace to come over, but there was such a thing as courtesy. Besides, Sarcus wouldn't be all too happy if she was a friend of his. "U-uh, sure, w-why not? The m-more the m-merrier right?"

Lionel looked down at the sleeping Slowpoke. "What am I going to do with you?" Then he felt something that rolled against his left boot. Is that a...flute? And a note? He quietly read the note, then looked around. There was no one in sight. "Hm...might as well try to use it." Even though his lips were freezing and his hands were ice cold, he put the flute to his mouth and played a melody. He had never played any instrument before, but it seemed as if this one didn't require any skill. As if it made the music on his own. As the soft music vibrated through the area, Buddy abruptly awoke and looked lazily at Lionel. "Alright, now we can wrap up this session."

A...a friend? Sark noticed that he was starting to care about the well-being of his companion. She did kind of save me...I can't just leave her out here. He thought about the Berries he got from Yuki. "Can you guys just wait a bit more? I'll go look for Yuki."

If he was honest, Lionel was happy Sid left. Since the day he got his GAOs, Lionel became a lot more sociable, but now he needed to be alone with his team. He had been trying to practise, but all the combinations he used were simply not working. The fact that Shadow hated cold wasn't helping either. Buddy didn't seem too bothered by it. "Sorry Shadow, but this is not working," Lionel said as he recalled his crow, "it seems like it's only us now, Buddy." He looked at his Slowpoke. What possible strategy can I use with him? "Buddy, can you-" While he wasn't paying attention, the hippo just fell asleep. "Argh!"

Nivia held out her front flipper. Sark was surprised at the friendliness at first, then he grinned and shook her flipper with his front paw. "The name's Sark. Glad to be able to tag along with you." No way back now... It's been a long time since I've been in a pack... Since I've left my clan "I guess we will be heading for a certain mountain now? I've heard all about it from... Hey, where's Yuki?" He looked around. "Oh, for your information, Yuki is a Froslass."

Lionel sighed at Sid's question. "I would, but unfortunately, I can't think of any. It's feels like there's no possible combo that I can use... Hey, and what about your GAOs? I believe they did pretty well in the examination."

Lionel nearly got a heart attack when someone tapped on his shoulder. He quickly turned around and saw Sid. "Oh. It's only you, Sid." Only now he realised how cold it was. "Now that you mention it...it's really cold here. Training for Shadow might be quite hard... Oh right, I forgot to tell you why I'm here. My team combos aren't that well, and we're here to practise them."

"Alright, now that you two are fixed, we can start our training." He put both of his GAOs in their balls, and started looking for a good place to practise, while thinking about eventual new strategies. Buddy's mind attack could help in a team combo attack, but it's inaffective on Shadow... Argh, this is just too difficult! These two can't make a decent combination! While lost in thought, Lionel walked farther and farther away from the camp.

Why would you do that when you can perfectly get around by walking? Nivia is another case, she cannot go around on land without Surf, thanks to her lack of legs. Mind you; this is just my opinion. The decision is Murdoc's. -
Lionel looked at Shadow and Buddy. "Let's get you healed guys. After that...we will have some training. I don't want to insult you two, but I'm surprised we passed. Both of you battled very well on his own, but we need to work as a team. I mean, the only team attack we worked on was shrugged off as if it was nothing!" Shadow was weak, but he had still enough power to glance angrily at Buddy. Buddy regained his lazy state. Lionel turned back to the other cadets. "If someone's looking for me, I'm at the healing machine."

Sark stopped practising his moves when he saw that the others were packing up and preparing to leave. Would it be better if I tagged along with them? He walked to the corpse of the dead Hydreigon, ignoring the fact he walked in a pool of blood. "I don't know if you can hear me, but well. I'm sorry for the fact that you were killed. I, indeed, tried to beat you. But I had no intention of killing." He looked at Theo, Nivia and baby Umbra. "You only tried to protect your child. And now your child is safe with them...with us." He walked back to the group. "I guess I'll be going with you guys...if you'll have me."

"I-it's only l-logical that S-Sarcus outmatched me... He has way m-more experience in b-battling than I do." He looked at Ms. Mime. The Psychic type has been quiet for some time now. H-hey, d-did I maybe do s-something you didn't l-like? However, he got no response. And at that very moment, Sarcus walked over. Lionel stopped patting the head of Tiberius, and looked from Max to Sarcus. It was clear that both students didn't like each other very much. However, he also knew that they were both among the best in the academy. "O-oh yes... I f-forgot to tell you g-guys... Sarcus was g-going to help m-me with...a p-project." He didn't know how to say it otherwise. He took a quick glance at the Heal Ball in his pocket. "O-okay then... Let's go... M-Max, Jake, I'll see y-you later..."

The other guy that walked over - Jake, right? - was clearly in a bad mood. Seems like Maximus and him were friends. "Uh... Hi, I-I'm Lionel...and my partner, Ms. Mime..." He didn't quite know what to say. Not that he liked to admit it, but Jake intimidated him. "I-I heard you're not q-quite satisfied a-about your s-scores... At least y-yours are higher t-than mine..." Lionel said as he tried to stroke the Arcanine's head.

"Don't mind Sarcus. He likes to give people a rough time." Lionel was surprised when the other boy just walked up to him. Then he relaxed and smiled. "I-I'll keep that in mind, thank you." Suddenly he remembered. "Wait- aren't you Maximus? The guy with the powerful Arcanine and the perfect score?" He realised his sudden outburst. "Uh... S-sorry for the stream of w-words... That r-reminds me, I haven't i-introduced m-myself yet... I'm L-Lionel, and this is m-my partner, Ms. Mime..." he said as he pointed at the Mime Jr.
