  1. No rain dance? You will have a fun time with Charolette. I had to beat her by abusing Rain Dance and Water Sport. You can't get it once you get to Agate. But you should be able to exploit other strategies. Especially with that volc. You have most of the notable Bugs. Heracross is a great bug, very powerful, but if we get mega evolution next episode then Pinsir was the right choice.

Only other notable bugs you don't already have are venomoth ( ace sleepy time maker and quiver dancer and/or passer). Vivillion (Hurricaaaane), Volbeat/Illumuise (only really helpful at this point if you have Rain Dance anyway. But also good for encore). Masquerain, ONLY Bug with water attacks outside of Scolipede (move tutor aqua tail), armaldo (aqua jet meh) and Douse Drive Genesect. So yeah, basically the only way to use Hydro Pump, Scald, water sport, Ice beam .

But you look like you are doing great with your current team so don't sweat it.

Oh and don't forget Scyther! T_T

  2. Anna could use Rainbow maybe. Arc Light, it would be cool to see the electric field used more than once the entire game. Maybe Bennett will be E4 with a new field, but he seems adept and using whatever field there is, such as the dark cave and mirror fields. It does show he's good at adapting to any situation.

  3. Lets see, its been a while since I've done a completely normal run of the game.

Serra was certainly the easiest. My Arcanine ran through most of her pokes with Flamethrower and Flare Blitz. There wasn't much challenge.

I may have had a harder time with Noel or someone, but all I can remember for sure is Charolette was a nightmare. I was just so mad at her field. Usually the fields have a weakness, but Charolette's weakness seems to be use Fire as well. Sadly I don't usually use fire unless it is my fire. I ended finally winning by destroying the field with a Walrien Blizzard. (Which was also very helpful in the next few battles vs Swalot, Terra, and Ciel).

Honorable mention to Shelly for being the most consistently difficult but fair leader (if you don't set the field on fire >_>)

  4. I wonder what other kinds of field we will get next episode :) I love seeing fields that we can make on our own without it already being there. But we have already used the Pledge combinations and the Terrains. Ame had a great idea of making the inverse field creatable. I wonder if there is a way to create naturally occuring fields to help types like water and ice. We do have a swamp field already

Maybe a field that could benefit fighting types naturally. Something that benefits the mixed martial arts style of fighting like boosting not only fighting moves but binding moves as well.

  5. I do not IV breed in game. I have in the main series and I may later in this one. But I have played through several times and monotype runs as well. You do not need it to beat the game. It definitely helps. You will definitely see the difference if you go for perfect IV EV and nature. But if that isn't fun for you then don't feel obligated to do it.

That being said, I will check the IVs. If I caught multiple of a mon I will train the one with the best IVs. And I'll usually correct the nature in 7th if it's bad

  6. In response to Gourgeist, it is pretty good once it learns Shadow Ball around level 36. Teach it that and it can do heavy damage to Shade's slower ghosts like doublade. And it has the bulk to take a hit back. You can also use shadow sneak to chip one of his stronger ghosts like his Ace

  7. I'm a fan of underdogs, and I absolutely love running Scolipede. It's versatility, great design, and accessibility throughout the games means I can pick one up every playthrough and proceed to Megahorn some faces off! It also became my signature mon when I was playing in a monotype league on showdown for a long while and I got some sweet Avatar with it, but I cannot find it anymore :/

  8. I'm with Commander, here. It takes a bit of thinking/experimentation and maybe a little breeding, but every leader in Reborn CAN possibly be swept, particularly if you're a bit lucky with the early gyms. Curse Muk with Shadow Sneak 6-0s Shade 90% of the time if you set up 2-3 Curses, easy money given Muk's stats. Bennet, should we have access to something like the Choice Scarf, could EASILY be 6-0'd by Choice Scarf Tyrantrum, Rock Head or otherwise. Name a Bug type he's shown that can survive a Head Smash. I'll wait.

Again, you are viewing bug all wrong. Like I said, bug isn't trying to tank your attacks, its trying to hit you first and harder. Nothing is living that head smash unless it has Sturdy, or its Foretress. But in response to that Tyrantrum, he can have a faster Scarf Heracross or Durant. He could have Sticky Web up to outspeed with most bugs. He could have a Quiver Dance up on his Volc and kill it with a field boosted Bug Buzz. He could have a Scolipede with speed boost and a Megahorn with a field boost. And there is always Bullet Punch from Scizor. Heck, gyro ball from Foretress would hit that Tyrantrum hard.

Don't underestimate bug. Also, I have full confidence that anything I listed above can be achieved by the AI. It's not just with a real human player. And I'm sorry, I know you all are handling the AI and teams. I'm just trying to throw in my opinions of what I think makes a good bug team. I just don't want him to be a joke a like Diamond and Pearl Aaron. Platinum Aaron is great, but bug gets too much of a bad wrap often when it really is a great type.

Although I don't know why I'm worried when you already did such a great job with all the leaders and Shelly. Who is one of the most challenging leaders in the game without feeling cheap. (As long as you don't go easy mode)

  9. the fact is that almost half of all bug types have a 4x weakness or thay have a ton of 2x weaknesses.even hight tier bugs like scizor, heracross, volcarona, pinsir are sure to fall to one shot

That's why bugs are Hyper Offensive. You can usually take them out pretty easy. But they will try to hit you harder first. Sticky Webs helps with that.

  10. Let me tell you about Weather: it doesn't make or break a fight, but most people don't use it. I don't see regular pulling a BS move like I did with Shelly in which Bennett gets Perma-rain, but let's not get too into how difficult a leader is. I'm working on something E4ish but on a much grander scale so I can tell you that you might be thinking about this wrong.

You'll be facing 5 leaders in a row with a finite amount of PP if you don't bring ethers and elixers. You are also limited to six Pokemon so you'll need to have a pretty solid team. The E4 should be midway Hardcore levels of difficulty so you won't be able to curbstomp any leader with just a single Pokemon. In the CoM project, Trevor literally got down to his last Pokemon against Shelly while I only lost a couple. She certainly wasn't a cakewalk as people might've expected at that high of a level.

Bennett is never going to be super tough due to singles syndrome but I could see him using that field kind of well. I expect sticky web Forretress and either Perma-sun or Sunny Day to boost his Volcarona's power really high up. Anything that doesn't resist Volcarona will be nearly one shotted by it since there isn't anything that outspeeds it and it'll be hard to OHKO. You could say rock type, but Giga Drain is a thing. The other Pokemon could be used to help settup or slowly take down the other Pokemon on your team. It's just kind of Reborn's thing to make leaders good and their aces generally super strong (whether or not that's intentional).

For Hardcore, I do have to limit how difficult they can be so I might not give Bennett a perma weather unless he badly needs it. Rain will likely be it since I can use Steel types safely(ish) and use other Pokemon with that field. I'm just saying it's very possible to make his team difficult but Burning field is definitely going to hurt most of his mons in the long run. I predict he'll be the first person we face and the first person usually is the test and the one we have to face the most anyways (kind of like Sidney in the Hoenn games).

Hm, from what I know about bugs, I'd definitely say Sun isn't the way to go. It may help Volc, but volc is still only average speed (base 100). All it will take is a decently fast rock slide to take it out, then the rest of your bugs have to deal with boosted fire moves. Only other mon it helps is Leavanny (not a great mon) with Chlorophyll. Rain is useful, but I'd only use it if it protects his field or something. Reducing fire damage isn't bad, but bugs don't really gain any other advantage from rain aside from Hurricane volc (Non-STAB) and Thunders from Galv (who has compound eyes anyway). The only bugs that can even use good water moves are Masquerain and Douse Drive Genesect. If you wanna go bug, hyper offense is the generally accepted strategy.

So, lets assume no weather for Bennett. A good start mon would be Galvantula as no other leader has abused sticky web yet. Also not many players bring rapid spin on their main team from what I know. Not to mention 91% accurate Thunder's with Compound eyes. Next Foretress would be good. Great spinner, high defense, It can set rocks or screens and even volt switch out for more spinning (or explode). Volc is a must, it's his main. It can run a nice array of fire moves, bug moves, giga drain, maybe even hidden power ground to threaten fire and rock types.

There's the three main spots. He needs a mega, and with Webs up both Mega Heracross and Mega Pinsir are incredibly powerful options which hit like trucks. Aerialate is an overpowered ability threatening to OHKO anything that doesn't resist it after a swords dance and gets a boosted quick attack. And Mega Hera can put a huge dent in even Skarm with its raw power. Hey even Mega Beedrill could be good, but not as good as the other two. Scizor is normally a bug staple, but there are so many Scizors in the game already. Maybe he can take advantage of Durant with his webs. As it is already fast and can hit hard with Hustle.

Other than that there are plenty of bugs like Vivillion and Venomoth who can abuse sleep powder and quiver dance. Vivllion has a powerful STAB with hurricane and Venomoth has Tinted Lens so nothing is "Not Very Effective" and Baton Pass. Scolipede is a great mon who can also swords dance and baton pass. Or my favorite strategy is just to slap a life orb on it and take things out with Megahorn, Earthquake and Rock Slide. Other good bugs could be Escavalier, Armaldo (another great rapid spinner), Crustle with Shell Smash which might work better than Durant. Yanmega with speed boost (But Shelly has that). Shuckle is a bulky mon who can abuse contrary plus shell smash plus a field boosted Infestation and toxic damage. Plus Rest to restore HP. Regular Heracross is good too.

There you go, there's my bug rant. Hope you enjoyed it! Praise to the bug type!

  11. I really do home Ame is taking it easy still :( She always wants to take on so much work herself to ensure its of high quality and that we get he clearest vision :) And from what I've seen so far of this next update, its looking fantastic :) I can wait for a great game of this quality! At least she shows up some progress every once in a while too. Which is more than some other mods and major developers do.
