  1. Scizor, especially mega, is actually pretty sturdy. Even capable of taking nonstab uninvested Fire moves and living. If the power of fire moves was reduced to only 2x effective, I'd say its probably living most non stab fire moves. Not only that but Scizor now only has 1 single 2x weakness, that's it. Its defensive typing is outstanding on this field.

  2. How do you all feel about the distribution of fields in the game? I love the fields and some of them have awesome effects, but it seems like some are introduced so suddenly.

There are a few great examples of getting you used to a field then giving you a boss battle with it. These give you a chance to learn and play around with the fields on your own and develop a strategy to deal with it. Like with Terra's world, being foreshadowed in Ametrine, as well as the whole area training you to use it. Apophyll and the volcano give you chances to get used to Ashen beach and Super-Heated. As well as many others.

Some fields you can't really get used to and there's little you can do to avoid it such as the Big Top field since those don't have any prior opportunities to use them. But by then you are used to how field effects work.

But then there are things like Julia's field. We spend the entire first part of the game getting introduced to our first field effect, the Factory. We battle team meteor through it, have a boss battle, and even battle Julia's gym trainers in the Factory field. Then we immediately have to learn all the ins and outs of the Electric charged field with only Ame's guidance to help you. Which just isn't as good as first hand experience. Similar things can be said of Florina with the desert field. With so much of the game having good foreshadowing it is strange to have the first two gyms just throw you straight into things.

It seems like it would be a lot easier for new players if they could have opportunity to use fields like electric and desert before throwing them into a boss. Maybe make Julia's trainers use the field as well? In Florina's gym there are also a ton of empty battle fields that are used in lessons. As well as Quiz questions about field effects. It would be cool to see some field effects on these plain fields to foreshadow later points in the game. (Especially the desert).

I also remember reading that will be getting an in-game field manual we can carry around in a future episode? If we have that then we would no longer need the upper floor of the library explaining each field. Making even more sense to use some of those fields in Florina's gym area.

On the opposite end of the spectrum, some fields feel like a missed opportunity such as the Swamp field. We spend an entire island fighting through a swamp only to spend two boss battles in a factory and never see the field again (so far). It seems as though we could have maybe just battled Aster and Eclipse outside then maybe battled Taka inside. Just to get one last use out of a very interesting field.

  3. I suppose we should go a bit more into the pokemon or moreso what differs between IVs and nature despite both being genetics per say. Here's why the nature changer works the way he does: he can mortify/put a pokemon through very immoral conditions to make it's personality flip. Kind of like seeing how a child can be scarred for life simply by watching someone be murdered in front of their eyes type deal.

IVs are a little bit different since you were born with them. You can't simply have some guy say he can change them easily/randomly as it wouldn't make sense. Yeah, they could make the Pokemon work out, but that's kind of what EVs are for. There is one unusual thing in real life that can be used as a real life base example of making someone stronger without the use of exercising: steroids. That's kind of why I was hinting at a tonic idea to boost a Pokemon's IVs if we should do it. I wouldn't want to randomize them, but the ability to boost them a smudge. Believe me +4 to an IV stat doesn't impact the game all that much but pleases perfectionists.

My personal playstyle is that I could care less about IVs (though I do gripe about being IV screwed hard), but after seeing so many people reset due to poor IVs, and almost all requests in request a mon ask for IVs above 20, it's mostly something for people to think about. Now I'm just repeating myself here a bit.

Though interestingly enough, I'm just hoping E16 isn't the nightmare of exploration as Episode 14 was when we all got dive. I swear the sheer amount of time I wasted trying to explore everything in those mountains only to be blocked by waterfall. If I have to go through that again with rock climb at the bottom of the lake after 3 years of waiting, I will probably be spamming rage boxes in the status.

I've always liked the comparison that IVs are natural born things like long legs or better eyesight. Which is why you can't really change them (and if you did it would indeed be shady). But stuff like that can be bred as well both in pokemon and real life.

  4. Hey, I'm doing a monoghost run soon and I was wondering if I could get a save file with Shuppet and Drifloon and my starting mons. (Also could i get Destiny Bond on both mons and Confuse ray on the Shuppet and Hypnosis on the Drifloon as egg moves?)

I want to start the run as traditionally as possible but I also don't want to have to wait forever and have to train these two from scratch once i get to Corey

EDIT: Sorry I should mention the natures and abilities shouldn't I. Unburden calm for Drifloon (nickname Heigold) and Admant cursed body on shuppet.(nickname Fukurou)

  5. Personally, I think that Orderly John has his own plans for joining Meteor other than helping Dr. Sigmund. I honestly think that he'll pull off some sort of Dragon Ascendant thing and possibly overtake and pawn off the Doctor for his own goals, much like how Sirius isn't truly in agreement with Solaris' plans for Meteor.

Of course, this is all just speculation.

I also remember Ame hinting somewhere that Orderly John actually does have his own "plans"? Of course, this is only a faint recollection, so do take it with a grain of salt.

Could he just be Head orderly John?

  6. don't worry, he's getting therapy now.

do you really think just one's going to be enough now?

    HAH, good one!

Pokemon are usually defined in a text file, but alternate forms are defined in a script section. Basically it uses all the same attributes and then they're adjusted by the scripts for whatever needs to be changed. Meowstic, as well as every form change in the game uses this (including megas), but Alolan pokemon will probably be most like Shellos where it depends where they're from (+ a lot more changes besides appearance, of course)

no fuck that i dont want to wait until post-game for my pretty alolan ninetales i want her by my side at all times

no but really ill have to rework all of availabilty/trainers/fields/tms/leaders for gen 7 so fml tbh

benefit of doing that in the last episode will be that it can be a final balance check

    ish

about halfway done with beryl. and i think it was the bigger half. or at least the half with more in it. unless i'm a squib i should be able to finish it tomomo

Ah! Stop with the hype! Take your time though :)

  7. Solaris is a pretty cool villain. He may have made the mistake of sparing the Protagonist once, but after that he was like no, you are way too annoying to deal with. He would have killed us before the PULSE Muk if Amaria hadn't stepped in. But he's not like Sirius who gloats and says, oh I could've beaten you if it wasn't for this or that (claims he could've beaten Protag if Sapphira hadn't beaten him but Cain and Protag were enough to stop him too). Solaris has the skills to back it up and manages to be a decent test of your skill being the climax of a 3 part battle. The battle with him really felt like it was on equal footing and I cannot wait to tackle him solo.

His motives are also interesting as he feels it is his duty to cleanse the city, not that he just doesn't like them or anything.

  8. I honestly need these fields to be as online battle areas. It'd create such a cool meta to have separate fields you start on at the beginning of the match. So many strats and team set ups! It should honestly have its only site like showdown to use them lol
