As the others mentioned, there are some sidequests you can do to reveal more about the plot and others that give you access to mons that currently cannot be obtained in another way (with some exceptions of course). If you're asking about the teams displayed in the "trainer cards" as shown in Dream's profile, it was a feature for the old Reborn League where you can register a team. Even though the League itself has been dead for awhile now, you can still use it to make your own team if you really wish to. Here's a link for it: Create a Trainer Card!

Trying to go on the server more often and conversate with people besides the few select people that I talk to on it, answer questions in threads more frequently as it's something I've taken more of a hands-off approach to let others, try to assist and participate in more community events, etc. Like Dan mentioned in his AMA, what I like about this community is the willingness to help others, even if there is no benefit. Being involved is my way of doing so.
