  1. When people get $20 worth of change, why do so many ask for two $10 bills? I can understand asking for $1s if you need tip money, or quarters for the laundry mat, but 10s? I don't get it.

      Sutoratosu

two 10s are a lot easier to keep organized and in their proper place than a bunch of loose 1s or quarters.

And some people may not want to break up their change that much unless they actually need to, for that very above reason

  2. I meant to post it there, but I guess I didn't. Oops. Anyone that can move this?

  4. http://goo.gl/forms/mUopWiEHh8 Please take this survey so i can do an anime feud panel for a convention. I tried making this a status update but it wouldn't post it for some reason (tried on both chrome and firefox). Thank you! EDIT: Just got the status update to work. Please take the survey, wherever you happened to find it.
  5. It would be interesting. I think there should be 7 crystals though, like a rainbow. Indigo might be too similar to either blue or purple, so you could make the 7th crystal pink if you'd prefer. I think you should also be able to use it on a shiny pokemon to de-shinfy them though (not that most people would actually do that, just that it'd be kind of funny).
  6. Gyarados. So much gyarados... I got one with moxie back when the ability was broken. So glad I kept the moxie now. It's much more helpful than I'd initially thought it'd be. I couldn't have beaten a lot of the gyms without it.
  7. Their attacks weren't working. If it weren't for Rhea, Alleria probably wouldn't even be alive right now. She would have to remember to thank her once they were out of danger...if they lived that long anyway. Roland seemed to have injured it, but the the monster showed no signs of slowing down. Alleria cursed her inability to do anything. Even if her first spell had failed, she had to try again. She couldn't stand by and do nothing. Besides, she had reached a pillar in the opposite direction of the beast, which she could hopefully use as a shield if it decided to play fire tag again. She doubted a fire spell would work, but she tried anyway. "Set the skies ablaze - Firery Haze!" A flaming vortex engulfed the creature.
  8. I went back and changed the name of the water spell Alleria used, as well as the incantation. I thought this would be a little more humorous. It still has the same effect and such though, so it shouldn't mess anything up. I also tried to leave the end of my post open so Crag or Megaira have a chance to jump into the fight, but really anyone that feels like posting should be good to go. So... Giant fire breathing minotaur/demon thing: 1 Alleria: 0 Conclusion: Elves are doomed against this thing.
  9. The torrent of fire raced towards Alleria; if it hit it would likely be fatal. Alleria didn't have to to cast a spell it counter it, her only chance was to dodge. She raced towards the nearest pillar, hoping to use it as a sort of shield against any future attacks. That is, if she lived long enough to survive until then. Athletics weren't exactly her strong point.
  10. The creature once again set it's sights on Roland, giving Alleria time to cast. "You," Alleria's voice shock with rage, ""you will pay for what you did." She briefly considered casting the same spell she had used to take down the wyrm, then thought better of it. If the flames that had come from it's mouth were any indication, this was a creature of fire. Rather than attack it with it's own element, if would be better to try and go for what would likely be it's weakness: Water. "Prepare to get wet - Aqua Jet!" Water shot out from Alleria's staff in a laser like fashion, hitting the creature in the face.
  11. "What could have done such a such a thing?" Alleria's voice was filled with pain and sorrow. These were Elves, her own people. She knelt down and took a moment to study their faces. They were unfamiliar to her. She sent a small prayer of thanks that it was no one she had known. But still, to have been killed in such a fashion...it was unforgivable. "Drauthier watch over them," she said quietly. "And spare us." Alleria used her magic to create a deep trench beneath the two elves, and then covered them back over with earth to create a burial mound. It was far to plain and it lacked the proper rituals, but Alleria was no priestess. This was all she could do. "When I find that...monster..." Alleria turned back to the rest of the group. "Please...help me finish it. I don't want anyone else to suffer like..." she gestured at the crude grave.
  12. Feel free to RP ahead to the next day after answering Alleria's question, I don't really have much else to add the watch.
  13. Alleria and Rhea had taken their turn for watch, and so far it had been uneventful. Nash had mentioned he had heard a loud roar and that they should keep their guards up just in case, but they hadn't heard anything so far. Alleria thought about the last conversation she had with Rhea, back when the group had first formed. Rhea had said she had started traveling with Nash and Gillem after they had rescued her group of priestesses from a bandit attack two years ago. They would likely be meeting Gillem soon, if all went well. Alleria was curious as to what kind of person he was. "You had said earlier that it would be nice to see Gillem again," Alleria said to Rhea, breaking the silence. "What kind of person is he?" Alleria tried to picture him; was he a warrior like Nash? Or perhaps he'd be a paladin, giving him some common ground with both Nash and Rhea. Gillem could even be a bard. That would certainly be interesting.
  14. They had walked for a long time, even managing to see the pillars before setting up camp for the night. Hopefully they would arrive at the city tomorrow if nothing went wrong. Nash sent out the call for watches, and Alleria was surprised to hear Rhea volunteer. Rhea definitely didn't seem like she would be able to fend off any intruders, especially as she was currently shivering even with a blanket on. Perhaps she felt bad that she hadn't taken a watch last time. Come to think of it, Alleria hadn't either. She supposed she should volunteer. "I'll take the same watch as Rhea. It'll be easier to stay awake with company." It wasn't just Rhea she was worried about, it was also herself. Both healers and mages didn't really do well fighting by themselves, and having someone around to wake the others up while the other one of them held off any attackers could only help things. And like she told Nash, having someone else to talk to would help pass the watch faster and make her less likely to fall asleep.
  15. Something was very wrong. Scraeth traveled in very small groups, yet judging from their bodies littered about this group must have been a very large one. And their had been multiple grand scraeth. Not a good sign at all. As selfish as it may be, she was thankful they had missed arriving for that battle. As she was staring at what remained of the battlefield, she saw Roland begin severing the stingers of one of the scraeth. She was going to ask him what he was doing, before he provided the answer himself. Even Crag chimed in about how it was even more potent and profitable when distilled into a purer form. The idea of stealing their venom and using it as a weapon had never occurred to her. The more this journey went on, the more painfully obvious it became to her that she was the least seasoned member of the group. At least that problem should be corrected by the time their quest reached it's conclusion. "I would suggest we hurry up these corpses will most likely lure some other creatures, and i would rather not be around to meet some of those," Crag spoke. "I agree," Alleria said. "This place gives me a bad feeling." She had tried reasoning why so many scraeth would band together, and the conclusions didn't necessarily bode well for the group. On the one hand, it may have been some of them were forced out of their territories and into another group due to a natural disaster. On the other hand, perhaps something bigger and stronger than the scraeth had forced them to band together for protection. She remembered what Nash had said about demons and shuddered. "I should very much like to reach this Gillem you spoke of earlier before we run into anymore trouble."
  16. "It seems I'm the last one," Alleria said as she arrived where the rest of the group was waiting. "Sorry to keep you." She had meant to arrive early too, but it appeared she had failed on that account. At least they couldn't have been waiting too long. "If everyone's ready, shall we set off?" She was eager to get out and do something to fix this situation the world was in, even if she wasn't exactly sure what to do yet. Something better than nothing after all. "Or is there anything else that needs to be taken care of before we continue?"
  17. Guess who's not dead after all? ...Sorry, the forums were down forever and I kind of forgot to check back periodically to see if they were back up. So, yeah, please don't kill me?
  18. Alleria decided she wanted a good meal before retiring for the night. She entered a small establishment and asked for their specialty without even checking what it was. After all, adventurers should be adventurous right? It turned out to be some meat she couldn't identify (although it tasted all right), home made bread, and fresh fruits; much to her surprise. She didn't think they'd have many out here in a desert. It made more sense when she saw the bill. After dinner she turned in for the night at a local inn. She couldn't help but think about what Nash had said about demons. Sure, she had heard rumors but having them confirmed was another thing entirely. Surely they would be more powerful than the wyrm, and they had barely escaped from that alive. How much more dangerous was this journey going to get? But she couldn't give up this quest. Not when the world was so deprived of mana that even elvish magic was beginning to fail. They would need all the mana they could get if they hoped to take on these demons. She wouldn't let them take over this land. It was with those thoughts that she drifted off to sleep. The next morning, after double checking to make sure she had replenished her water supply, she headed off to where Nash had designated they meet. The sooner they reached their next destination the better. They had no time to waste.
  19. Much to her surprise, Alleria felt the ranger put a hand on her sholder. "Yes, Alleria, I am alright. Do not feel badly about this. I knew the risks when I decided to join this quest." He then grimanced due to the pain from his injuries, and Alleria couldn't help but wince. "We all inhabit this world together, Alleria. A wise man once told me that if we were meant to fight each other, we would all have been born with teeth and claws. Instead, we were born with minds greater than those of most. We should use them for good, not turn them toward making those very same tools of conflict. His words were suprisingly profound. She tried to take a moment to truly reflect on them, to learn from their wisdom, but her thoughts were inturrupted by Crag. "Well your quite the optimist now aren't you Master Roland. Though I will admit that its not a bad thing to be sometimes." He then turned toward her. "Well My Lady Alleria i guess I actually did gain a profit from using my black powder if I gained even a little of your trust. Which on a venture like this is worth more then the gold I would have gained from it normally." He did one of his signature bows, then added with a chuckle, "Though i wish there was some of the more profitable parts of the wurm left so I could at least of gained a little more from it." Alleria couldn't help but smile at that. Some things didn't change. She heard Roland let out another pained gasp, and watched worriedly as he examined himself for injuries. "I believe I have a couple of broken ribs. Nothing some kind words from the lovely Rhea will not be able to fix." "I'll go back and fetch Rhea, if that's alright with everyone else." Alleria offered. "I'm not sure it's a good idea to try and move you like this," she said gesturing to the ranger.
  20. Could we get this added to the openning post somewhere? I didn't really feel like digging for it when I was making the post in the IC thread. Having it somewhere in the OP would make it easier to find.
  21. Eventually the explosion was over and the rain of burning debris seemed to have subsided. Alleria chanced a look up; the wurm seemed to be gone. Nash congratulated them on taking down the beast, which confirmed the battle was over. She gave herself a once over and was suprised to find she was in pretty good shape, all things considered. She was covered in dirt and soot, her garments were torn in places, and she was both mentally and physically exhausted, but otherwise she was okay. Nothing rest wouldn't cure. "The others? Alleria? Megaira? Are they alright?" she heard a frantic voice ask. Roland! She was ashamed to admit she had forgotten about him for a moment, but she was relieved to see he was okay (and not, you know, dead). She ran over towards the two of them (it seemed Nash had checked on the ranger already) and felt her eyes fill with tears of happiness. "You're okay!" She would have felt awful if he'd been seriously injured, especially as he'd gotten hurt protecting her. "I'm so sorry," she said kneeling down to his level and turning her eyes downcast. "You got hurt and it was all my fault." Her tears were no longer those of happiness, and she rubbed them off with the back of her hand. She wondered how she could have ever doubted these people. While their races may not be on the best of terms, they as individuals had certainly proved they didn't care about that. Megaira had ran herself to exhaustion to warn them. Roland had put himself in harm's way to protect her. Even Crag had stayed and ensured the wum's demise, when she assumed that as a Vanda theif he would simply run. She had wronged them greatly. "I'm sorry," she said again, "to all of you," she said looking at each person present in turn. "I...I judged you all without knowing anything about you, and judged you badly. And I was wrong." She turned her eyes to the ground again, feeling unable to bear the weight of their gazes. "You're good people," she said with a nod as though to reassure herself, "even though I didn't realize it at the time. I'll do my best to set my prejudices aside from now on." She chanced a look up. "I hope you can all forgive me."
  22. Sorry for the lame spell guys, I'm not very creative. I wasn't sure if borrowing casting lines from vieogames would be acceptable, so I figured I'd try to wing it.
  23. Alleria felt herself being tackled to the ground as the wurm ran past them. Slightly dazed and very much out of breath, she took a moment to recover. She heard arrows being fired near her, and looked to see Roland up and firing at the beast. So he was the one who had saved her. She heard the wurm shriek as Roland kept firing. She was about to thank him for saving her, but the words died in her throat as the wurm's body connected with Roland's chest, sending him flying through the trees and leaving him unmoving on the ground. She heard someone screaming, then realized it was her. The attack had been only inches away from hitting her as well. "Damn it!" Alleria turned in the direction of the shout to see Nash unsheateing his weapon and charging at the beast. "I'll distract it!" he shouted at her while connecting a hit on the wurm, but it retaliated and Nash was thrown to the ground. Alleria really didn't think she could survive if the wurm killed anyone else (she had no idea if Roland was alive or not) but Nash got right back up and continued charging it. "Start casting the biggest thing you've got!" Alleria was too shaken up to move, but she did notice someone dart out from behind the trees. Crag jumped down from a branch and landed on the wurm, using his knife to stab between the plates. As the wurm swung trying to throw him off, she saw Crag throw something at the wurm's face and it began coughing. "I would suggest any type of fire at its mouth and face area right and then I would suggest we take some cover as fast as we can because its going to be a bit explosive once the fire hits" Crag said running past her. Trusting that Crag had a plan, Alleria began casting the strongest fire spell she knew. "Let all burn to ash and feel my fury set the skies ablaze!" Alleria chanted. "Firery Haze!" A giant vortex of flame engulfed the wurm, and Alleria dropped to her knees exhausted. That had used up the last of her mana she held in reserve. The wurm began shrieking, but it was quickly deafened by an even louder BOOM! It looked as though the wurm was exploding (her spell shouldn't have been able to do that) and she guessed it had something to do with what Crag had done. She hoped Nash had been able to get away from it. Although really, she should be worrying about herself as the explosion was sending firey debris flying in all directions. She dropped flat to the ground and tried to make herself small as possible hoping to avoid any blazing wreckage.
  24. "It seemed like it was pain after I shot it in the mouth! Where are Nash and the others?" Roland shouted at her. She was relieved to see he was okay. And if his information was correct, the wurm had a weak spot which meant this fight just might be winnable. But what about that last bit he said? She had been following Nash in, hadn't she? They must be right behind her. She turned to look, but heard Roland call out. "Watch out for that!" She whipped her head back in his direction, and...was that tree MELTING? Not melting exactly, more like it was being eroded...by acid. "You've got to be kidding me!" she cried in disbelief. Roland fired another shot at the wurm's mouth, and it roared out in pain. The wurm dove under the ground, but it could still be heard moving beneath the earth. "Careful.." Roland warned. Nash chose that moment to burst into the clearing. "What happened? Where is it?" he shouted. "It's undergr-" she started to respond, but the earth suddenly shot up midway between the three of them, and she had to duck to avoid being hit by the debris. The wurm had resurfaced. Seeing her chance, she quickly began charging up a fireball spell. "Roland said its weak point is it's mouth!" she shouted, releasing her fireball at that spot. Her aim was true and the behemoth cried out in pain. "It worked!" she felt quite proud, until she realized the creature had finally considered her a threat. It began charging at her, and there was no way she'd be able to fire off another spell in time. So, like any sane person would do in this situation, she started running. "MAKE IT STOP!" she hollered at the top of her lungs. She really didn't want to experience what would happen when it caught up to her.
  25. "Roland, wyrm, trouble, help." Alleria looked towards the voice to see Megaira running towards them as if her life depended on it. She saw Rhea go towards Megaira as she repeated, "Roland's fighting a wyrm, he's in trouble, go help him." She then collapsed. "She's fine, just exhausted. They must've been even farther ahead than we thought." Rhea said placing a hand on her forehead. "It sounded like Roland's in trouble. You all go ahead and help him, and I'll stay here with Megaira until she wakes up. Hopefully I can do something to speed up that process so we can join you." Nash nodded. "Let's go! Roland will need all the help he can get!" He took off running forward. Alleria followed him running as fast as she could. She was frightened and had many questions. Was Roland okay? Why had the worm attacked? How exactly did you defeat one? But she couldn't voice them as she needed her breath to keep up this pace, and if she slowed down she was worried they wouldn't make it to Roland in time. So she continued running, for hours or minutes she didn't know, only knowing a teammate was in trouble. Just when she thought she would drop from exhaustion, she spotted something up ahead. It was huge, mud colored, and let out a deafening roar. It must be the wyrm then. "How are we supposed to defeat that!?" she shouted, nearly out of breath. She felt like giving up right then and there. She was exhausted and that thing was over 3 times her size. One hit and it could probably kill her. But the idea of admitting defeat left her as quickly as it came. She would not be a burden to everyone else. She would not sit there and leave the others to fend it off. She would not abandon Roland. She readied her staff and prepared to cast. A spell. I need a spell. She cast a basic lightning spell, but it barely seemed to faze the creature. It simply shook it off and continued its rampage. She, on the other hand, already felt drained. She was already exhausted from running here, and had no idea how many more spells she could cast before she fainted from exhaustion. It was important to make them count. "What is this thing weak to?" she shouted. Fire? Ice? She didn't know. All she knew was that they had to taken it down before it took out them.
