    Kage returned to the cafeteria at a quick walk, nearly breaking into a jog. He grumbled the entire way about being led about like a disobedient puppy, but quieted down once he actually reached the building. This time, he remembered the sunglasses, and withdrew them from his pocket before putting them on and heading inside. "Alright, Lucas, where is that teacher Jacob was talking to earlier?" The Ralts gave him a general sense of the location, and he walked straight up to him with no issues. The crowd was starting to thin out by this point; most people were finishing their meals and heading to various locations on the campus. He swallowed his nervousness, and spoke up. "Devin? There's smoke coming from the boys' dorms, but we can't tell if there's actually a fire or not."

    "Smells like smoke to me," Kage commented. "Can you see anything coming from the dorms?"

    "It's fine. I'm not sensitive about being blind, I'm sensitive about other people worrying about it. Anyway, it was some genetic condition. Basically, the nerves stopped working or something, so that's why I don't have funny-looking eyes." As they approached the dorms, a scent wafted into Kage's nose that didn't mesh with the others around the area, but he ignored it for the moment. Someone was probably cooking.

    "Really?" Kage's head slumped to the table. "I thought I was doing fine. Now that you mention it, though, I could use some help with one thing back in the dorm." He stood up, Lucas safely back to his usual spot, and set his tray down in the wash area.

    Xavier nearly stabbed Sigurd as he jumped up and told a god that he was a phony and a liar. "Please, please excuse my human companion. He's a bit, shall we say, excitable." He grabbed Sigurd roughly by the collar of his shirt and pulled him close, whispering in his ear. "Are you insane? Do you just have a death wish?"

    speaking of that, I've considered making Kage almost like Cain if he had a filter, and compounding that with the fact that he's not usually sure of what he's looking at, resulting in awkward chest-staring moments

    "Nope. Completely forgot the things." He huffed in frustration. Turning to Ryan, he asked a question, though it was really closer to a complaint. "Am I really THAT bad of an actor? Thought I could pull off a halfways convincing not-blind guy." Kage said this fairly quietly, though over the noise of the cafeteria he wasn't sure exactly how close Devin was, so it was entirely possible that a snippet of the conversation had drifted over to Devin's ears.

    "Sounds good to me. Hand a couple of those over," he said, moving his bag closer. "Everyone should carry a couple of them."

    "Oh, believe me, I'll remember this. Mostly, though, I just wanted to make sure Lucas was alright. I owe it to him, after all." He stopped, unsure of who might be listening in on the conversation. Kage was quiet for a few moments as he stuffed himself. Mouth full of food, he gestured at Ryan with his fork. "So, which dorm were you in again? I'm in 027 if you don't remember," he asked, managing to avoid spraying bits of mashed potatoes all over his friend. Kage stopped again before Ryan could finish. "Where did Jacob go?"

    Kage sighed and turned around. "I'm still starving. Hopefully my food's still warm. Want to sit with me?" he asked Ryan. "I'm sure Lucas ate half of my food before he got dragged off, but there's gotta be some left."

    Kage brushed himself off. "Ran into someone on my way over here. Really, I'm not made of glass," he said tartly, with a glance back at Ryan. Well, over Ryan's shoulder, but it was intended for him. Kage quickly walked over to where Lucas had ended up and lifted the Ralts into his arms. "It's alright bud. Sorry I left you behind like that." The Ralts looked at him for a moment and sent a pulse of disapproval, but then proceeded to snuggle up closer to his chest, clinging to him like an infant. Then, Kage moved his attention to the unfamiliar voice. "Care to explain why your Vulpix felt the need to drag Lucas around?" he asked in a combative tone.

    Lucas called for help telepathically as he was seized by a Vulpix and dragged off. To defend himself, he attacked the other Pokemon with a weak telekinetic wave as he waited for his trainer to arrive. Kage abruptly dashed off without a word or waiting for a reply, deftly navigating his way through the somewhat crowded cafeteria. He almost made it out of the door when another student walked into his path and he couldn't swerve in time, resulting in a tumble to the ground and shockingly proficient bilingual cursing echoing from the location.

    Er, Lucas was already in the cafeteria. Did you mean dragged out or what?

    Yeah, right now Lucas is sitting unattended, though he'll be rather irate at being handled roughly.

    Matrim broke out of his wonder when an idea entered his mind. "If that toad can transform an axe into a work of art, what could it do to a musical instrument?" He retrieved Ko'luki's guitar from where he had set it earlier and brought it back to the toad, holding it to the amphibian. "I apologize for taking this, my friend, but I must see what this toad can do!"

    Sounds good to me if you wanna do that. Also gets Kage away from "overprotective, annoying" teachers.
